Not a bad year, 854 hours put down overall. Spent the first quarter of the year cleaning up games already on my profile so that was a big boost to my overall completion ratio which I've kept relatively high throughout the year. It comes as no surprise to me that Fortnite dominates once more, enjoying the new chapter/season with my friends yet again so I don't see myself putting it down anytime soon!

I really can't be bothered to go through it all again for the images so I'm going to share what I shared to others over Discord.

 

First of all, I think it's hilarious to know they gave me "The Messenger" for my social one when I had less than 20 messages sent all year but then I've seen some other funny ones saying they've made lots of friends and they've only added 1 friend

 

Onto the main ones, I scored 999 hours which is pretty fun that I missed out on 4-digits by 1 hour. A beefy year considering a couple months I had a bit of a drought.

 

My top played games came out as:

 

1) Rain World - This was down to the Downpour expansion which was a bunch of fun and I spent a good amount of time messing around in expeditions. I wasn't following news of this game to know the add-on was a thing so when it dropped I was pleasantly surprised and had a blast with it.

 

2) Trials Rising - Finally got around to this game after seeing a fair few friends enjoy. Whilst my playtime is the lowest of my friends I did narrowly overtake a couple of 'em on the leaderboards at least  I didn't push too much for good times but I did stick around on each track enough to set something I'd be at least a lil' happy with.

 

3) Call of Duty WWII - Was nice to revisit a Call of Duty game after neglecting the series for many years. This one happened to be one I had thanks to PS+ and as it had zombies (and I have a lot of zombies nostalgia) it attracted my attention for that sweet throwback. It's old enough to still feel closer to that older Call of Duty game but modern enough that, well, didn't feel overly dated. Really enjoyed the zombies maps.

 

4) Invisible Inc. - The surprise of the year, a backlog PS+ title that I thought looked kinda interesting and I'd seen recommended on here in passing by someone who generally I do find has some good tastes. I didn't go in with much expectation though, it was a punt, but I totally got hooked.

 

5) Minecraft Dungeons - Pleasantly surprised on this one too, enjoyed it for what it was but it didn't blow me away or anything. Plenty of stuff to do with all the post-launch content that I could dive into.

 

And as for my gaming style I came out with

"Connoisseur"

The description does suit me perfectly so I think they nailed it but I don't really know the criteria of some these titles outside the obvious ones.

"Defying conventions and playing whatever you like", yup, that's me alright. I play what I want when I want and take a punt on all kinds of interesting thing I see in the deepest depths of the sales.

 

I can't remember the trophy tally, but I think I managed to have ~20 platinums unlock through the year which is pretty big, more than 1 a month as an average and certainly higher that what my overall accounts average would be.

I'm nearly certain that I actually played 59, but starting (followed by promptly deleting) various games just to complete PlayStation Stars campaigns has inflated my count. Shadow Man rules, by the way.

 

 

Nothing particularly surprising here. Two of these made it onto my top ten list for the year, after all: Rogue Legacy 2 and The Outer Worlds.

Down from last year's 817 hours. Many of the games I completed this year were relatively short, so it makes sense. Without a community backlog event spurring me on, this certainly would've been even lower.

 

 

Perhaps not my most productive year, but far from my worst.

 

 

And 90% of them were probably exchanged with only two people, heh.

 

 

That about wraps it up, alright. I'm glad these year-end summaries have been working properly for me the last couple of times, since they often used to show an error page when I tried them in the past. Quite satisfied with this gaming year, by and large.

These range from about 90-50 hours. This year I've played way more games with less time on average than in years before, last year I had like 400 hours on Deep Rock Galactic alone. Skyrim would probably be in the top 5 had I not started it in Dec 2022.

 

Gaming Style: Thrill-Seeker

This sounds about right, I'm assuming this is for action games.

 

Time Played: 978 hours

Pretty sure this is a few hundred less than last year, this'll be due to university.

 

Trophies Earned: 1576

(39 plat, 140 gold, 353 silver, 1044 bronze)

Pretty happy with this amount, no complaints here.

 

Social Style: The Messenger

Makes sense, I almost always play games solo, most of my communication would be PS messages about boosting.

 

Overall, 2023 was my first full year of being a trophy hunter (I really got into it June 2022) and it was a great year. I've had so much fun playing all these games and going for platinums, and that probably isn't going to change anytime soon. I might be able to get 100 plats and trophy level 400 by 2024, but we'll see.

All right, time for a Wrap-Up. Seeing what games took the Top 5 spot didn't come as surprise, though I was surprised about the time I spent playing Knockout City in 2023 before the server shutdown. I'll miss that game. At least Phantasy Star Online 2 has kept me entertained and it'll keep doing so, even when I get 100% on trophies someday. It's been that good to me. And yes, this year was filled with RPGs, but that's fine. I enjoy them. Easily my favorite genre.

 

As for the trophies, 666? Seriously? That being said, it's missing the trophies I got from Need for Speed Rivals for some reason. Otherwise, I don't see any errors.

 

Finally, I was surprised by the amount messages I sent. There are a couple of players I'm messaging every now and then, but I didn't expect the amount of messages to be that high. Life is full of surprises, I suppose.

 

To sum it up, 2023 was pretty solid year for me. Can I say the same about 2024? Perhaps. All I can say about it, I've got some major plans for that. You'll see what I mean eventually.

If anyone is wondering about the PS Stars Spider-Bot collectible, it doesn't show up automatically in your collection, you have to go to the rewards section and claim it for 0 points. I thought it was taking a long time to appear and that it might have been bugged but nope, you just gotta claim it manually. Figured I'd put it out there in case some of you didn't know.

Time to another write down which includes the games from December.

 

I played 58 games and 331 hours in 2023. The Pedestrian was the first game to be played. The playtime is 100% on PS4, so PS3 and PSVita hours don't count.  The only lead I have on that, is that the wrap-up can't tell anything on the games most played in March and April (probably GRID Autosport).

Also earned 25 digital collectibles without really much effort. The last info I have to share, is that I earned over 3000 coins which can only mean that Sony got more coins from me in 2023.
