Popular Post Vrisnem
Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada Spirit of Sanada I binged most of this game in a week after initially dropping it within a few hours of play five years ago. I don't know what it is about it, but every time I decided I was bored and turned it off I would almost always have it back on again within the hour. It's like I couldn't stop thinking about it. My better half was definitely bored of hearing about it, that's for sure. I've had a minor obsession with Japan's Warring States period for the past 15+ years and I love the Musou formula (as flawed as it is, I won't pretend it's perfect) so I had a blast playing this. The narrative style for this game and its town exploration set it apart from Samurai Warriors 4 and Samurai Warriors 4: Empires (can't speak for 4-II because I haven't played it). The Sanada clan has never been my favourite, but the new characters Chacha and Sasuke added in this edition did draw me in. It was more engaging for sure, and I think is the same angle they have gone with in Samurai Warriors 5 (which I started and dropped sometime last year - I'm intending to go back to it soon). I do enjoy when developers aim for a new take on something old and this fit that bill for me. Main downside for me is that the game made me nauseous after 2-3hrs play. But by the time I figured out the cause of why I was feeling ill so often I was at 49/51 trophy completion - the penultimate one being to get a playable character to Lvl 99, and I already had Yukimura Sanada at Lvl 94 by that point so just carried on while taking more regular breaks. Popular Post Destructor-8
Assetto Corsa - Platinum #118 A True Sim Racer Sim Racer 0.22% Community rating - 10/10 Personal rating - 10/10 Enjoyment 7/10 The toughest game that I've ever finished is now complete! I've already posted this on a status update earlier this week so most of this will be familiar to whoever read that then. I have actually been doing the stack at the same time, which is something I don't recommend anyone to ever do. This isn't something that I would recommend unless you either have a wheel, decent sim experience, the willingness & determination to learn what you are in for or even a mixture of all those. It can take a long time to get accustomed to something like this whilst trying to understand where you are losing time during the hotlaps can at times seem very overwhelming especially the closer you get to the required times. There are exploits out there to use if needed to do these although I didn't use those so it did take longer to do some of these. The races have many work arounds thankfully as those were absolutely stupid at times. If the races were required then I don't think that there would be any achievers for this at all. The last thing is that if using a controller then a few hundred hrs is something that would be required to do this. I'll first explain below how this all came about & why I originally started this so I will put that below. I first started this up back in 2020 to try it out to see if I could do what was known as arguably the toughest racing platinum. I didn't have GT5 at the time so that was something that I got a hold of later down the line. There is also Dirt Rally 2.0 Flatout but that is purely a DLC instead. I had a go at this one since it was very much recommended to be done with a wheel rather than a controller, which is what I wanted to use for it. I tried it out over a few days & got absolutely nowhere on it. I couldn't get used to how it handled so I decided to do other stuff throughout the rest of 2020 instead. It wasn't until I came back to it until 2021 last year to be a bit more serious with it since I had improved overall. I went straight into one of the hardest hotlaps & after a week of practice I was finally able to do it. I had a lot of other games to do at the time so I had to put it off for a bit knowing that it was going to take a lot of time & practice to do everything in it. I did actually end up attempting the GT5 Vettel challenges in 2021 as I now had a good comparison. I did everything except Suzuka where I was just about a second off of doing it over a week. I had done a lot of other stuff at the time & wasn't enjoying the pure difficult nature of that either so I went to do some other stuff to change things up a bit. It wasn't until earlier this year where I was finishing up the rest of the Gran Turismo series where I decided to get back to Assetto to just get it done. It's been a bitch getting through some of these hotlaps considering how much time these can take. There are exploits available to use as well as traction control that can be used for certain cars but I didn't wanna use any unless it was for the stack. There was a point where I didn't have any motivation when I got to what I would say is the hardest one of all. I already made a post about it but I just couldn't seem to get it. I was able to finally do it though since I needed even more precision than before to do it. I'll put this one below. The difference between using a wheel or not is absolutely huge since apparently there is a lot more understeer with a controller. This along with not using traction meant that quite a few took even longer than usual. I still would put Vettel Suzuka above this overall in difficulty since it is not as repeatable & requires more muscle memory to do. I need to finish it off to be done with the Gran Turismo series though. I'll also list the time & difficulty that I would personally order the hotlaps in as these can be different for everyone depending on the order that you do these in. I will say as a note that these aren't rated in trophy difficulty but personal after hundreds of hrs of sim racing practice with a controller. The trophy difficulty of every one of these would be above almost anything in a racing game especially if it's a sim too. 1. (10/10) / (22hrs) - Alpha 4C vs Green Hell 2. (10/10) / (28hrs) - Clear Ahead (Need to rate again) 3. (10/10) / (20hrs) - A Whole New Toy 4. (10/10) / (20hrs) - Forbidden Record 5. (9.5/10) / (7hrs) - Demon on Wheels 6. (9.5/10) / (3hrs) - Flight Simulator 7. (9.5/10) / (4hrs) - GRA Challenge 8. (9.5/10) / (2hrs) - British Racing Green 9. (9/10) / (1hrs) - Your Time Will Come 10. (9/10) / (3hrs) - Alessi Says, Step On It 11. (9/10) / (2hrs) - German Fury 12. (9/10) / (2hrs) - Italy 1987 13. (8.5/10) / (2hrs) - Free The Beast 14. (8.5/10) / (2hrs) - Thunder 15. (8/10) / (1hrs) - Look at me I'll put the final one that I did below. I'm gonna do the stack for Assetto although I don't ever recommend to do this back to back. I don't think that I will personally ever top this platinum even though I have got some pretty tough ones planned that I would like to take on sometime. I will at least have some more motivation to get back to doing the Dirt Rally 2.0 Flatout DLC now especially as that one is even more draining although I have done quite a lot of it already. I think I'll be putting that one above this though so I'll do what I can when I get back to it. I appreciate all the kind words so cheers to all! Absolutely loved replaying all these, went through them on Steam quite a long while ago. #101 - SAW Fun, simple, janky game! #102 - Observer Excellent game, another one I had unfinished in my backlog for a long time. Running through the System Redux versions on PS4 & PS5 next since the game is fresh in memory. Very trippy and disturbing visuals & sequences.
Popular Post HansPatat050
@Destructor-8 Respect my dude, very impressive profile! Here are my accomplishments... #74 Hot Wheels Unleashed - PS5 I bought this and grinded 800 races before it became the October PS+ game and they pushed the update to increase the rewards... Nonetheless, great game and definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to play a friendly arcade racer with some challenging time attacks. Plat took me ~ 70 hours, with the current updates it will be around 25-30. #75 Table Top Racing - World tour This game was free on PS+ in April 2016 and sat on my backlog since then. The notorious patch made the game definitely harder but it's still doable. Challenging, sometimes very frustrating but never impossible. I would rate it 5/10 for me, as a semi-experienced racer. That said, the devs ramped up the DLC difficulty even more, for example by putting in hotlaps while using mandatory drift tires... 8/10 easily. Would not recommend for a simple plat arcade-racing gamer.

Popular Post StraightVege
God of Blood #308 Is it a video game, or actually some manner of new digital drug? Tough to say, considering how hopelessly hooked on Hades I was, throughout our 80 hours together. Whenever I wasn't playing, my thoughts were consumed with planning my next run. Hell, I even dreamt of doing runs! The fine folks at San Francisco's Supergiant Games clearly learned a great deal during the creation of their fantastic past titles, bringing all that knowledge together to meticulously craft the most addictive roguelite gameplay loop I've ever experienced. Even more impressively, they accomplished this while treating each other like family (no crunch), and despite the unique challenges posed by pandemic restrictions. If you haven't yet seen Noclip's multi-part development documentary, I can't recommend it enough. While traversing dad's lethal afterlife gauntlet, I simply couldn't wait to return to the House of Hades—either through victory or death—so that I could upgrade my abilities, unlock new weapons, improve the House itself through construction jobs, and most importantly, continue building my relationships with its incredibly charming residents. This cast of characters is written in such a delightfully down-to-earth way, not to mention they're straight-up wholesome in their kind support of protagonist, Prince Zagreus. The dapper prince himself (voiced by composer Darren Korb, a man of far too many talents) is no exception in this regard, always treating friends and enemies alike with polite respect, and exhibiting infectious charisma. Never does he behave as if he's superior to anyone, or devolve into the macho, shouty toxicity which was once so commonplace in male video game heroes. There's even some tasteful romance, without a hint of heteronormativity. This medium has certainly come a long way; I'm glad I lived long enough to see it develop. Beneath the Greek mythological exterior, Hades is actually a fairly grounded story, exploring issues many of us have dealt with in the real: a son rebelling against his overly stern father, absentee parents, an estranged family who can't drop their egos for a moment to reconcile, and so forth. It's surprisingly touching at times, eliciting some warm, tingly feelings and a teary eye from me. Always a rare treat when video games can manage to make me feel anything, since I'm basically dead inside (haha, half-joking...). Never before has a roguelite quite so seamlessly melded gameplay and narrative, with massively impressive attention to detail. Dialogue events always seem relevant to your actions as the player, making the game feel like a living, breathing entity, which deftly reacts to everything you do. Of course, this illusion eventually breaks, somewhere around 75 runs deep, when characters finally begin to repeat lines or talk about mundane things, such as a couch you purchased for the House many hours ago. Nevertheless, the amount of lines they recorded for Hades is truly staggering, lasting until well beyond the main story is over, and making this a minor gripe, at worst. Following each lovely evening—or was it morning? Difficult to discern, down in Tartarus!—of chatting with the peeps at home, my eagerness for taking yet another crack at escaping the isometric underworld never failed to rise. As you struggle your way to the top, you engage in frenetic combat that feels much like Bastion on steroids, where your choice of weapon aspect can combine synergistically with a huge variety of godly boons, drastically altering the properties of your attacks. It was a blast getting to know each god in this dysfunctional family, too, because they each have distinct personalities, and the powers they bestow can lead to some truly wild (and overpowered) synergies. Almost every run feels fresh, although I would have loved to see at least one additional biome, with some more enemy types and bosses, as the action phase of the game begins to seem somewhat brief and slightly repetitive by the conclusion of the story. Fortunately, you have neat tools at your disposal to make things interesting again, in the Pact of Punishment system, allowing you to adjust a large number of modifiers which substantially change the behavior of foes, among many other facets, making the next run far more challenging. Hades' "easy mode" implementation is also quite ingenious. When God Mode is enabled, Zagreus gradually becomes more godlike with every death, granting the player another 2% damage resistance, starting off at 20%, and ascending to a maximum of 80%. Not only is this thematically appropriate, it eventually meets you exactly where you need it to make the game's difficulty feel perfect for your individual skill level. Personally, this settled at 46% for me, at least until I began to really crank up the Pact's heat number, just to ensure some deaths would occur (certain questlines won't advance unless you die). It takes essentially all the sting out of failure, since you can literally see yourself getting stronger, much akin to gaining a level in an RPG. Is the game beginning to feel too easy? Simply turn off God Mode, whenever you like—there's no penalty whatsoever for doing so. I'm thrilled to see that such accessibility options are slowly becoming a standard in gaming. The more people who can experience games this good, the better. I'm an extremely critical, nitpicky sort of person, and after over 30 years of partaking in this hobby, there probably exist less than a dozen games I would ever deem worthy of being called a "masterpiece." However, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to describe Hades with that word. It's got a refreshingly original take on the mythology, jaw-droppingly detailed artwork, one of the most bangin' soundtracks in years, gameplay so addictive that it feels like an illicit substance, and a thoroughly endearing narrative. Easily among the best games I've ever played, and I fully expect it will end up being the finest game I touch in 2022. Supergiant deserve every iota of praise, and every last award they've received for their loving care with this game, because they've achieved something genuinely special. Grindy as it may be, I would still happily replay this on PS5, assuming I ever get around to upgrading. Hades might be the closest thing to a dopamine button I've ever found. By my father's name, I accept this platinum!
Popular Post Rick_Sanchez
Platinum 283 Fun: 9/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Soul Hackers is a spin off from the shin megami tensei series just as Persona is. Plenty of the mechanics return such as demons being used to customize what your characters stats/skills are, the turn based system giving you extra attacks upon dealing critical/weakness damage, and you can use demon materials to customize your weapons. The story isn't much to write home about but the gameplay is top notch. You have such trophies where you have to fill the demon compendium, upgrade your equipment so many times, spending so much money, and even getting the true ending. You'll need to play through the game twice to ensure you get a 200 for each character's soul level to unlock their 5th floor in the soul matrix which exploration of it gives your characters more abilities in combat and on the field. I was level 99 and looked up a few guides on how to make a few over powered demons that carried me through the hard fight. It's a great game but maybe better as a $40 title.

But hey, ya can't complain about a free game! Besides that, I enjoyed it. Cats are awesome!
