Popular Post NetoStyle
WWE 2K22 #161 All Trophies Earned Earn all trophies. 6.00% | Very Rare DAMN! I'm so proud of this one... my first ever WWE platinum! I was a big fan during my childhood and played all videogames in the "SmackDown vs Raw" era, I even had a WWE Championship belt haha (now I got the current WWE Championship belt + an amazing Rey Mysterio mask haha). I stopped playing and watching WWE in like 2012 so I never bought the newer games developed by 2K. Back then I didn't pay any attention to trophies so this is my first plat and I'm so happy with this one. It was a bit grindy but I really enjoyed my time with the game!

Popular Post MrGarland
Platinum #145 Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom (platinum + 100% on DLCs) Difficulty: 3/10 (7/10 for Solosseum in the final DLC) Playtime: 145 hours Enjoyment: 10/10 (excluding the Solosseum) Favorite party trio: Evan, Roland and Tani Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a great game. Ever since I read the reviews of it, and learned that Studio Ghibli (which happens to be one of my favorite anime studios) did the animated cutscenes, I decided to get it whenever possible. It was a long journey, but well worth the money. Then we have the sequel, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. What can be said about that? Some might say the first game was better, but what's my opinion about it? The answer? I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, both games are great, but because I wasn't too fond of the whole Pokémon-style combat the first one had, the combat in the second game had felt more polished one imo. And yes, turn-based combat is great, I just didn't enjoy it that much. I found myself enjoying the combat the sequel had since it was easier to get used to and it had more options which was further increased with the DLC. I'll get to those in a moment. As for the story, both games have a great story, but there were a few moments in the sequel which caught me by surprise and I liked them. For example, moments such as Spoiler when Roland turns against Evan or the fact that Mausinger wasn't the bad guy and he was instead tricked killing Evan's father. Moments like those caught me off guard, but that's fine. I enjoyed little surprises like that. When it comes to the DLCs, I'll give a brief summary of my experiences. First, the Adventure Pack. Aside from the usual new quests, weapons and such, the Faraway Forest Maze from the main game makes a return, as it gets ten new floors that can only be accessed when playing on Hard or Expert difficulties. Personally, I chose the latter, because not only do I like a good challenge, but you also get new outfits if the boss is defeated on Expert difficulty which I did. Then there's the Lair of the Lost Lord. The major additions this DLC offers are two new martial methods, as well the new dungeon called the Labyrinth. Just like the previous one, you must face the final boss on Hard or Expert, though you can play on Normal till you reach the 100th floor. When I made it to the final boss, I changed the difficulty to Expert instead of Hard. Even though I managed to beat him on my first attempt, I got reckless and I was almost defeated. It seems that what I've said earlier applies here. By that, I mean this. Never underestimate the enemy, no matter what. Finally, there's the Tale of a Timeless Tome which is... I might as well say it. Worst DLC ever. This goddamn DLC was the sole reason why I didn't get the platinum in 2020. While I did manage to get every other DLC done pretty easily, this was the only one I couldn't complete and I can't blame myself. The reason? Solosseum. The new story-related side quests were really good, as each character gets their moment, but the new addition known as the Solosseum goes way too far in certain things. There are two reasons for that: Horrible RNG when it comes to farming certain materials. In order for you to even have a chance against obtaining the S rank in many of the Challenges, you need to craft certain equipment. The problem is that you can't buy/find those anywhere. Instead, the only way to obtain those is to complete the Challenges and hope that you get the materials you need. Sometimes I got them after 2-3 attempts, while sometimes I could play the same Challenge ten times in a row and still get nothing. That's how bad it is, and I'm honestly surprised that they didn't fix it. Horde of enemies. In many of the Challenges, you have to fight a horde of enemies before you can proceed to the next battle. I wouldn't mind this so much, except that this happens in so many Challenges that it becomes extremely boring and repetitive. Combine this with the material farming and the experience becomes even more boring. Enough said. I also should mention that before I put this game on hiatus, I did manage to complete 20/30 of the Solosseum Challenges and get the S rank from each of them which I'm proud of. The remaining ten, though. I didn't bother trying since you need much stronger equipment which I lacked back then. Once I resumed it, I had to do some serious grinding before trying the last Challenges I had. While most of the Challenges were more or less easy, the hardest part was without a doubt the infamous Challenge 27. The final boss is the sole reason for that. I'm fine with the fact it resists magic, but the fact that it can call reinforcements made me nervous as ever. It can be prevented, but you have to act quickly. Should you fail, it's most likely over since your allies focus on the extra enemy, forcing you to restart the entire Challenge. In total, it took me a total of 3-4 hours of attempts before I made it through. Even with the weakness to darkness and poison, the bastard somehow managed to call an extra enemy to the battle, costing me time. I still made it, but with one minute or so on the timer. Thankfully, all the reinforcements disappear once the main boss is defeated. Once I got the damn thing done, I rushed to the spot where I popped the last trophy, as well as the platinum, bringing my journey to its conclusion. I also decided to face the final boss one more time just so I could see the ending of the game one last time. Final thoughts? Overall, this game still stands as one of the best JRPGs I've played and it's easily my favorite one for the PS4. The content each DLC added made it even better since there was more areas and stories to explore. The Solosseum was somewhat good, but because all the grinding I had to do for the rare materials and the fact that RNG for those is absolutely horrible, I didn't enjoy it that much. The Challenges themselves weren't too bad, especially some of the boss battles where I wanted to test myself by learning their pattern and using that knowledge to defeat them as fast as possible, but the ones where you fight a shitload of enemies, were extremely boring. Especially when you combine material farming with that. Hopefully I'll never have to do something like that again. To sum up my experiences, I did pretty much everything the game has to offer. I cleared every single side quest, every skirmish and so on. Overall, I'm satisfied what I've achieved in the game. Before I conclude this post, let me say a few things. There's also a movie based on this series on Netflix. I watched it and... It's alright, but the plot is so cliche that I almost stopped watching it. Other than, there's not much else to say. Also, is that old man at the beginning supposed to be Evan? In case you're planning to start this, do yourself a favor and play the game with the Japanese dub on. I played both games like that and I never had a problem with it. There's nothing wrong with the English dub, but it honestly feels like these games were meant to be played with the Japanese dub. I listened to a few short clips of the English dub, but it didn't work for me. To conclude this post, here's a couple of images I got when I popped the last few trophies, as well as the usual platinum image. This was easily my favorite scene. It makes me wonder if Tani and Evan ended up together since it was revealed at the end who the Curious Boy was. One can always hope that was the case since it's never mentioned. And yes, Tani looks *ahem* pretty in pink. By the way, not only is this my 145th platinum, I also got it done after 145 hours of playtime. How fitting. Next project: Before I start my next project, I'm going to take some time off, as all the shit I had to go through for one trophy was exhausting. In the meantime, I'll train my body and mind. It's not for the next game, though. It's for myself. As for what's next, I won't reveal it, but I will say this. Not only am I going to try to speedrun it (which is something I normally won't do), but I'm also going to create a trophy guide for that. I've been doing several test runs in that game and I can say that things are going as planned. It's going to take a while before I'm finished with it, though. I'll take at least a week off before I resume it. Edited September 3, 2023 by MrGarland

Popular Post Moridin83
# 233 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life It's impossible to talk about issues with Yakuza 6 without getting into the story, so be warned, there will be story spoilers below! Yakuza 6 was the first game by RGG studios using the Dragon engine. It shows in a number of ways, a few good, and a lot of less than optimal. The game looks very good, and several mini games have received a face lift that make them much less aggravating (Batting and Darts in particular). Unfortunately, they jettisoned a large amount of long-term mini games, such as pool, bowling, shogi, all the gambling, locker keys replaced with 1/5th the amount of safes, and the hot springs mini games (ping-pong or air hockey). Also lost is a significant part of the Kamurocho map we've grown accustomed to, and much of the combat system. Heat actions got cut way back, I believe there are only 40 some in this game, and activating them is much more finicky. Heat mode was gimped as well, with no stagger prevention at all, and having attacks blocked is much more significantly punished than any time since Y3. The easiest way to fight is either by picking up weapons from the street, which is overpowered (maybe in response to not being able to have weapons in your inventory?) or grabbing and throwing enemies, which is also super effective, but not great fun. I will give the combat this, the added destructibility is nice, and having a Popo clerk microwave a dude's face never gets old, but it's not worth what we lost. The boss fights are also some of the easiest, blandest, and least interesting in the series, except for Amon, who is a completely different kind of BS. I did appreciate Onomichi as a new map. It felt thematically similar to Okinawa in 3, not in appearance, but in the smaller town vibe, and I thought the map itself was much better designed than any of the additions from 5. The minigames added there, baseball manager and spear fishing, were amusing and not too onerous if you're just going for the Plat. Don't ask about the grind for full CP with max levelling spear fishing though. The Kiryu clan creator minigame was also decent, although it's probably less interesting if you don't have a passing knowledge of NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) Pacing was a serious issue in the game, with all of the side content except for the final side story being available by the beginning of chapter 7. This left you with Chapters 8-12 as basically just story, if you did things as they became available. You could spread it out if you wanted, but if you're doing things ASAP, so as to not risk missing anything (as I think a significant number of Yakuza vets do), you're just mainlining the story from Ch 8 through the ending. IMO this isn't great, because Yakuza really shines when you balance the seriousness of the story with the frequent insanity of the side content. And then, there's the story (last chance to avoid spoilers, but I'll try to stay vague). The story for this game has been divisive since launch, and the longer you've been a Yakuza fan, or the more of the series you've played, the more likely you are (generally speaking) to have a problem with it. Obviously, this is all my opinion, but Haruka's actions in this game are a giant ass pull, which is a major problem, since they are the catalyst for the whole plot. If you're starting in a hole, like I feel the story does, you'll always have an uphill battle to be liked. I get teenagers aren't always rational, but with the way Haruka has been established for the entire series, but especially 3-5, it really feels like they just changed her character entirely to suit the story they wanted to tell, even if it didn't fit. If you can ignore this, it will improve your story experience, but I just couldn't. Add to this a retroactive "See, he wasn't that bad" in the ending for one character, which didn't feel earned or plausible at all, and Date's failure to even make a freaking phone call to Kiryu after a certain incident in the Finale, despite clearly having hours to do so if the timeline is at all possible, and we've moved beyond what even I can accept as typical Yakuza game shenanigans. It's pretty much as bad as the logic of a certain section of Y5 (if you've played it, you know). All in all, not a great "ending" for Kiryu's saga. It is mercifully short on the trophy front, being doable in one playthrough plus about 10 minutes of loading a backup save. If you've played the other Yakuza games, still play it to finish Kiryu's story (Until Y7 gaiden next year), but know what you're getting into. The growing pains of a new engine are real, and they compromise the experience. Edited October 19, 2022 by Moridin83 Spelling

Popular Post AJ_Radio
A recap of EVERYTHING I've done leading up to Final Fantasy VII... Platinum #312: Matterfall (July 18th, 2022) Difficulty: 6/10 Excitement Rating: 5/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 12 - 15 Hours Hardest Trophy: Impervious ( Defeat all bosses on Master Difficulty) The most annoying and the least enjoyable of the Housemarque games that I've finished. This felt like a downgrade. A side scrolling shmup instead of the isometric shmups Housemarque usually made. Matterfall also suffered from poor sales, after which Housemarque mentioned they would no longer make arcade games. The success of Returnal has put the developer back on top in being a competent one. Nothing to really say here. I've been really bad at posting actual reviews, especially games I've just finished because I procrastinate and end up wasting months before I finally post my reviews. Lots of questionable design choices. The button used for jump was stupid. Master difficulty was completely unfair and some sections were literally bullet hell, and not the good kind. Many, many deaths and retries, which came with loading screens that were annoying. Matterfall was a challenge, like most other Housemarque games. But I wouldn't recommend this one. Play Nex Machina instead, it's more fun and more fair to the player. Platinum #313: Z-Warp (July 18th, 2022) Difficulty: 2/10 Excitement Rating: 6/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 3 Hours Hardest Trophy: Standard run of the mill retro themed shooter. Really easy platinum, only trouble was figuring out how to beat the later bosses. It's more or less Ratalaika levels of difficulty. At least this was a little fun to play. Platinum #314: Knack (July 27th, 2022) Difficulty: 6/10 Excitement Rating: 5/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 25 - 30+ Hours Hardest Trophy: Knack Master ( Complete all chapters on Very Hard difficulty ) For a PS4 exclusive, Knack doesn't quite deliver. Later PS4 exclusives blow this game out of the water, but considering this was a PS4 launch title, it was Sony's way of trying to showcase what the PS4 could do. Back in November of 2013 this game may have been seen as stellar graphically, but looking at it now, it's pretty average fare. Some of the scenery bits looked nice, however nothing really stands out. The combat was unrewarding and it was a chore. Knack has one of the worst loot systems I've ever experienced in a Sony exclusive. The way they handled gadgets and relics was an absolute mess. First off, you have to find chests that are hidden throughout the game, usually through a cracked wall or behind some weak spot for Knack himself to get to. What you find in these chests is completely random, but they start off by giving you gadgets. Now here's the kicker. If you have friends who played this game in the past, you have the option to pick one of the items they found in that particular chest on their own playthrough. If you do not have anybody who played Knack 1, then you are stuck with getting whatever item the game gives you. This makes getting those respective trophies far more of a pain in the ass. Relics are even worse. Like with gadgets, you have to accumulate a set of relics in order to complete a set. The problem is, it's literally impossible to get every single gadget piece and relic piece on one playthrough. So you have to do multiple playthroughs. I ended up doing three entire playthroughs just to gather up relics and gadgets, and that's with friends on my PSN who played Knack 1 in the past. Diamond relics are the absolute worst of the lot because you cannot rely on friends at all, so they are completely RNG dependent. Another problem, they are rare. You will be getting a lot more of the other relics before you will come across a diamond. One method you can do is once you reach a chest, you can quit the game out to the XMB so that same chest can give you a different item. It's RNG dependent after all. Yet another problem, the game only saves at particular checkpoints within a chapter. If you played to a midpoint and decided to quit out, then you are screwed and have to start at the beginning of that particular checkpoint. That is why I had to hunt for chests that were close to the beginning of a chapter in order to farm diamonds. Getting one or two diamonds took me over an entire hour to get due to complete randomness. So it's completely fucking bullshit how the entire RNG system was set up. I hope to god that Knack 2 does not suffer from this glaring problem. Knack 1 is not easy. If you play on Normal difficulty, you're going to get your ass kicked on multiple occasions. Playing on Hard difficulty was tough even with Diamond Knack. Playing on Very Hard difficulty was like getting a root canal. Enemies have cat like reflexes when it comes to their attack motions, and I'm not joking. This game has a harder than average Normal difficulty. So I ended up playing on Easy difficulty for the gadgets and relics, since I didn't want to pull my hair out more than I already was. This game is just okay. Not god awful, but nothing special or great. The story was lackluster as well, with a character cast that was rather cold and lacking the personality you would expect from a Ratchet & Clank game or a Disney Pixar animated film. The villains were typical fare with the usual cliches. I wouldn't recommend this game unless you have a good reason for playing it. There are far better PS4 exclusives out there. Platinum #315: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (August 9th, 2022) Difficulty: 6/10 Excitement Rating: 8/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 50 - 70+ Hours Hardest Trophy: Abstergo Employee of the Month ( Get every single bonus at least once ) Only going to discuss the multiplayer here briefly, as it's been ages since I've done the single player. This was a pain to finish. Of the 20 - 25 hours I spent on multiplayer, over half of that was just sitting in online lobbies. You need six people to start Alliance and furthermore you have to be at least level 5 or so in multiplayer to even be on it. I believe it was possible to invite lower levels into Alliance, but I can't remember. Stun boosting was boring, but my team got it done. Role Model and Abstergo Employee of the Month were the real kickers, simply because I had to do voice chat on PS App and Discord due to the coordination required. Without shouting into voice chat, I wouldn't of been able to get those two trophies. It's a good thing smartphones allow voice chat with ease, otherwise we would of all had to purchase head sets and that is just too much hassle. Platinum #316: Final Fantasy VII (September 2nd, 2022) Difficulty: 3/10 Excitement Rating: 9/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 40+ Hours Hardest Trophy: One of two or three games that won countless GameFAQs competitions. It was always a battle between Final Fantasy VII and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Both beloved games from a time long past when us Millennial kids had all the free time in the world and we stuck to our video game consoles. There is no denying the impact that the original Final Fantasy VII set upon the video game scene. Every major gaming magazine was talking about FF7. We all know Final Fantasy, even if you never played any of the games you have heard about the franchise. Final Fantasy VII is up there with John Carmack's and John Romero's DOOM in terms of cultural impact. Definitely a trailblazer, you ask most Millennial and even Gen Xer gamers about FF7 and they know exactly what you're talking about. I won't discuss the RPG system, the cast of characters and whatnot. It's been 25 years, and we can still relate to Cloud, Barret, Aeris and Tifa. Story holds up incredibly well. The graphics are dated, as can be fully expected from a game dating back to 1997. The cheats do sort of ruin the experience to a degree, but I'd argue this game would easily be in the 75 - 100 hour range if you had to play this all legit. Thanks to countless guides for this masterpiece, they helped me in getting all the missables, and believe me there is A LOT. The Emerald and Ruby weapons were difficult, as even with cheats they can basically one shot you at lower levels which is Game Over. It was definitely easier to fight Sephiroth at the end than it was to beat the super monsters, which Final Fantasy takes pride in. Enjoyed the game from start to finish. A masterpiece that has aged like fine wine, and one of the most memorable JRPGs of all time. Edited October 19, 2022 by AJ_Radio
