PSNP New Year's Contest & Giveaway - Event Has Ended

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, 

 

Since making New Year's vows and not keeping them is so 2015, we (Mah2c, Zone Hunter, and myself) are kicking 2016 off in style by starting with a contest and a giveaway. And we have actual prizes too! I bet that got your attention, but more of that later. 

 

 

Contest

You may have seen something in the forums called 'Project Platinum'. For those of you who don't know what that is (shame of you), take a look here. You may be wondering why I'm promoting the PP. Well, there's a very simple reason for that: you're all going to play PP games, that is if you want to win this contest. That's right people, the member who plats the most PP games between January 1 2016 12AM (00.00) and January 31 2016 11.59PM (23.59) wins this contest. The timezone we'll be using is GMT+0.

I'm sure by now you're all wondering what it is you'll be competing for? Let's take a look:

• 1st place: a PSN Card with a value of 30 dollars/euros/3000 yen (depending on region). In the event that there are no PSN Cards available for the winner, we will transfer the money using Paypal.
• 2nd place: a PSN Card with a value of 20 dollars/euros/2x 1000 yen (depending on region). 
• 3rd place: a PSN Card with a value of 10 dollars/euros/1000 yen (depending on region). 

Be sure to read the rules of this event carefully for additional information. This contest does not require participants to join the PP threads, but feel free to do so if you see one that you like. You can sign up for the contest until January 7. At the end of the contest participants need to provide a list of games they've platted for the contest.

Giveaway

Besides the contest there's also a giveaway, which will happen on January 10. On that day, all the regular members who sign up for the giveaway are put in a random generator and the names that come out will be the winners. These three lucky members will get a 1-year premium membership and have access to all the perks on this site. These perks include:

• No annoying advertisements.
• Access to the prestigious Premium Member subforum, where all the cool members hang out.
• Access to the bigger, dynamic trophy card.
• Being able to update your profile once per minute instead of once per hour. Your profile is also updated automatically once every 6 hours instead of once a day.
• A golden forum name.
• The ability to change your member title.
• The ability to change your forum name.
• The ability to use a larger avatars (150kb instead of 50kb).
• The ability to lock your own threads (very useful when trying to claim the first few posts in a thread).
• Adding up to 10 trophies in your personal Trophy Cabinet.

Rules

Ah yes, what's a contest without rules. This is important, so pay attention!

• Only platinum trophies matter for the contest, 100% games don't but you can still play them if you want.
• Cheaters aren't allowed to join and cheating to pop plats will result in an immediate ban.
• Auto-popping games using cross-saves isn't allowed.
• Only games from PP threads that have been created are eligible. Platting games that aren't part of a PP thread won't count. However, you can work on games for PPs that are scheduled to be created in January, but the waiting list has been known to change due to various circumstances, so keep this in mind. You can find an overview of the waiting list and links to all the created PP threads so far in the PP General Information thread.
• In addition to the rule above: only PP games that haven't been started until January 1 2016 or only have 1 trophy unlocked will count. If you obtained at least 2 trophies before that day, the game isn't eligible. NO EXCEPTIONS!
• Read the first post in the PP threads for more information. Seriously, the PP admins put all that info there for a reason. Each admin has the freedom to add/remove certain things, so the PP threads aren't identical. Anyone who asks questions that have already been answered in the first post, will get a link to this image next to their username in the Participant List every time they waste the valuable time of the PP admins. And trust me, I'll know when that happens.
• If stackable games (= games with more than 1 trophy list) are allowed in the PP thread, you can do that. If a PP thread only uses unique plats, the duplicate plats won't count (unless you platted the game before the contest and another one during the contest).
• Members who win the giveaway aren't eligible for the prizes in the contest, though they can still participate.

Close enough that you'd get crushed in a real copyright suit. I'd ought be careful, you know how much effort I can dedicate to something as simple as a sight gag.

It almost makes me wanna bump my Game A Day! to February, just so I can participate in this.

I honestly couldn't see myself getting the in more than 3-5 eligible PP games so, I think I'll just stick with my thingy and be a fanboy viewer for this thingy instead.

Well, I'm interested in joining this event but the fact that Dragon is involved in running the contest has me worried and hesistant. He does a great job at promoting these events and making them sound like so much fun when in reality they usually bring misery. I mean in the PRD you have to deprive yourself of the joy of popping platinums for months. Then you have the apparently never ending quest to get the Star Ocean 4 platinum. 

 

I've scoured the fine print to see if there are any downsides to joining and I can't really find anything, so guess I'll sign up. Maybe this will finally motivate me to start on some of the Project Platinum games I have in my backlog. I actually have more games than I could possibly platinum in a month so I'll be interested in seeing how many I can get done.

Seems like the contest may be a bit unbalanced. (People that haven't platted the above games have a bit of an advantage).
