MidnightCJ
I have this game on the Vita (got it for cheap due to a Flash Sale on PSN) and will probably just do the speedrun first to "get it over with" so I can examine the game fully. The only worry I have are the puzzles you have to solve. Even though I've played all of Artifex Mundi's lineup, the thought of having to solve the puzzles in a minute is a bit daunting. Still, I am interested in this game. Edited July 28, 2017 by MidnightCJ
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Summary Going from best to worst in order of enjoyment. The games I'd classify as good out of the line-up I picked are: Ratchet & Clank - It's just a good game all-round really. Solid in most aspects with only minor anoyances. That's how a remake or reinterpretation or whatever you want to call it, should be. - République - The dark horse. This being originally a moble game, came as an unexpected pleasant surprise to consoles. The game feels right in it's environment, tone, dialogues for the type of game it is. This isn't an action-packed game, and getting caught is only a minor setback most of the time, but those don't feel like negative aspects at all. - Watch Dogs 2 - I didn't get as much time with this one as I wanted, but so far it's fun as long as I stick to the solo portion of the game. The missions look like they are interesting and originial. Driving through the city is fun, and the little gimmicks are cool (like getting new songs from passersby, hacking their phone and texting them etc). The online seems original to an extent when it comes to the activities available, but also gets old fast. Ride - A solid racing game, that could be a bit more polished visually. THe variety of races is decent for a racing game of this type. It feels a little bit unbalanced at times, online is most notable in that regard. The bikes vary in power, yet are conidered of the same category, which makes it impossible to catch up with someone that has a better bike, unless that person keeps crashing into walls. Destroy All Humans 2 - It took a while for me to get into this one. The improvements over the first one are minor, but it's just about as enjoyable. If this hadn't so many escort missions it would be better than the first one. Overall it's just stupid fun. - Now to the ones that didn't really grab me, but have the potential to turn out better than expected: Apotheon - Unfortunately there are too many little things that bother me, which have a negative impact on the gameplay. On the plus side, the boss battles are well-implemented and some of the side missions are also well-adapted to the greek mythology behind the gods. - Okage Shadow King - It's generally tricky to evaluate a (J)RPG after only having played a few hours, yet in most cases my initial impressions have been dead-on whenever I picked up a game of this genre. This held true for Dark Cloud, as well as FF Type-0 which I both enjoyed, as it did for FF VII which I genuinly disliked for the most part. That being said, I have the feeling that Okage will end up on a pile of it's own, for being just average. The world exploration is awful and the random battles are too plentiful to the point of being annoying. The battle system is alright though and the story might help even things out. There's still a chance for it to positively surprise me and therefore ends up in this section. - Now to the ones that weren't bad, but essentially forgettable: Dead Effect 2 - Alright, so for a mobile game it ain't bad. THe problem is that it's just fairly dull both visually and gameplay-wise. I can appreciate however that they kept the game single player (possibly co-op, I honestly can't remember...) and that they offer 3 different modes, kind of. If it wasn't for the loot system, it would have probably ended in the garbage pile regardless. Foul Play - Original concept that ends up falling flat. I was bored by the combat by the end of Act 1 and the unlocking of new attacks, half of them not being all that useful. The ones that were, were essntially simplified versions of previous attacks. Anyway, passable game that was literally painful to play. - Quite pleased with the games I picked overall. This time there wasn't one that I absolutely despised, so hat's a plus. I'll end up gettig back to most of the games, except for Foul Play. Not so sure about getting back to Dead Effect 2 either, I am definitely going to finish up the first playthrough of R&C this weekend, that much is for sure. Other games I played during this event were: A King´s Tale: Final Fantasy XV - very meh Game of Thrones - still my least favourite Telltale game, at least it doesn't run like absolute arse like the ps3 version did Killing Floor 2 - just DLC wrap up, still fun to play Yesterday Origins - Enjoyabe point-and-click with interesting story The Sexy Brutale - Really good game Abyss Odyssey - Solid game that feels to me like it might have inspired Dragon's Crown. 100% wrap up done Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star - interesting game, that I'm enjoying qutie a bit so far. Still trying to wrap my head around teh battle system though. Lego Marvel Avengers - collectible clean-up that seems never-ending. I swear each new installment of these games seem to increase the amount of collectibles needed. FML Nightmares from the Deep 2 - Having liked most of the Artifex Mundi games, and the hidden object genre in general I started anotehr couple Eventide - more hidden object goodness Virginia - played through it once so far and it's completely underwhelming Jazzpunk - orignial and absolutely stupid, jsut a decent game though Now it's back to focusing on the casual backlog event, until the next KYC comes along.
Popular Post Jaguargenie
Game 9 Far Cry 4 Initial Impressions Playtime: about 1 hour Full disclosure: the first 20 minutes or so of my playtime was an opening cut scene. This cinematic however set the stage for this game and really showed the antagonist in all his glory. Vaas was batshit crazy in the best way from Far Cry 3, but Pagan Min, the villain here, is a completely homicidal sociopath who brushes it off with humor that makes it all the more twisted. (He takes a selfie with your character after he stabs someone in the neck with a pen to commemorate the moment.) Once I got into gameplay, it is very much Fad Cry. Lots of ways to accomplish kills, and a ton of variation on skills. Within 5 minutes, there are three groups of thugs, and the tutorial basically says kill the first set with stealth, second with a bear (yes a black bear, not a typo) and the third guns blazing. The game is also gorgeous. It might be some of the most beautiful environments I've seen in a game (second to Horizon). So right now I'm super impressed. Can't wait to play more of this!
Popular Post DamagingRob
Final Review- Dokuro Managed to wrap things up late last night. Was going to stop after getting the no damage boss gauntlet trophy, but then I saw the Cubs were on. So I just kept going, while watching the game. Lol. This game is truly a bargain, currently priced at only $3 on the Store. Any Vita owner should give it a shot. Close to 150 levels to play through, and some are quite challenging. Even when you know what to do, getting the timing right can be tricky. And you will likely die. A lot. :/ Different gameplay elements are thrown at you, as you progress. You're given 3 different kinds of chalk. A white one, that allows to draw ropes to objects, making them hang or swing. A red one, that let's you draw a line from lit candles, to blow up bomb barrels and light other candles(some enemies will freeze when in the light). And a blue one, used to raise the water level of where you draw the line, raising up crates you and the princess can cross over. And growing plants, to get over obstacles. Later on, you are introduced to gravity switches. These will flip the ceiling and floor. And make for some interesting puzzles. All in all, I had a really good time with this one. But the princess kind of reminds me of Yorda in Ico.. She has a tendency to get herself killed, due to her dumb AI, which presents another challenge. And some puzzles were incredibly frustrating. So I give it a rating. Time played: About 18 and a half hours, according to the in game stats. At least 2 of those were spent sitting idle for the 1,000 kills trophy, though. Well, not really "idle." Had to rubber band my left analog stick, so the Vita wouldn't enter sleep mode. :/ Trophy progress: 29/31 for 98% and an A rank. Did it lower my completion? Nope. Oh, goody. We've reached the end.. That means it's White Knight Chronicles time. ;w; At least it's one combined list, and has no DLC. Probably won't hurt that much.

MosesRockefeller
14 hours ago, voodoo_eyes said: I get your point, and I'd agree that the souls games in general don't need a map, mostly because they aren't remotely as convoluted as Bloodborne is. In the souls games the environment differs a lot from area to area, making navigation relatively simple as the various sections, albeit linked to one another are their own separate location. From what I played of Bloodborne and seeing as I haven't played a lot of it (compared to the games that inspired it), I might not have a full impression of it yet, nevertheless it feels more like one massive area to me. The environment in that game feels much more complex, hence why I don't think a map would've been a bad idea. I don't believe a map hinders exploration either, when I speak of map I don't mean one that gives away enemies position, or chest locations or even hidden areas, but rather one that simply shows the basic layout as a border. Yeah, I think a plain map or a map that uncovers itself would be perfect. It could show lamps, doors, etc, only AFTER you've used them. And of course it shouldn't show enemy locations. The biggest benefit of a map for a player like me, would be to help get my bearings with a new game session. I don't always have a big chunk of time to invest, which is why RPGs with maps are ideal, because I can see exactly where I was and need to go next to continue on. However, being able to exit the game saving your current location is a huge benefit. That's going to make short sessions much more viable for me. Although, I find that every time I come back to the game, I need at least 15 minutes to get back into the rhythm of the combat. Last night I was a bit frustrated at first, because I seemed to have regressed. But maybe that's just how the Souls series is. I played for about an hour, so I was able to make some progress towards the end of my session. I'll post my review tonight or tomorrow morning.

Popular Post JoaoQuique
Game Nº 9 [Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered] - Expectations ItsMeMartyy's review: Click here What's about? It is a remaster for PS4 from first Uncharted games. My expectations: The only Uncharted games I had played was Golden Abyss, by a borrowed game card, and I liked a lot, even 3rd-person-shooter was not being my kind of game... Considering that people said that games for PS3 are well superior than Golden Abyss, I expect having a great fun playing this game. My gaming plan: I will play this game without bothering myself about treasures and stuff (including some trophies), however I will play on Crushing difficulty (so, probably I will not do so much progress on story, I guess...) Which grade do I think I will give to this game?
crimsonidol38
Well, I guess I have to change Watch_Dogs 2 for any other game. :/ I tried to play it yesterday but had to stop after a few minutes 'cause those text boxes with the mission objectives and the control information strained my eyes. Decided to give it a second try today and it's still uncomfortable for me. Somehow this is the first time where I experience such a problem. Similar games like Black Flag worked fine for me with the text boxes.

Still, I am interested in this game. Which game? Game 9, Everybody's Gone To The Rapture 1 hr played, 0 trophies earned. So I got this from ps+ like many of you, and never would have even considered buying it otherwise. It's a Modern Adventure game, AKA walking Simulator. The whole game is in first person, with a single speed, and minimal ability to interact with your environment. You are set in a small village where everyone else seems to have gone missing. The entire game involves walking around, finding radios, phones, and glowing areas, that piece the story together for you. Occasionally you can see a glowing ball moving around, and you can usually follow that to a place with more story. So far most of the dialog I've overheard involves a married pair of scientists named Kate and Stephen, and a man named Jeremy. There have been a few other people so far, but these three have been the only recurring characters so far, with Kate having by far the most dialog. So far the visuals are amazing, the sound is good, and the story is interesting. The gameplay is pretty boring obviously, walk around touch things, but that's not the point of the game anyway. I need to start it earlier in the night because at midnight the story wasn't enough to keep me from almost dozing off several times. At first Mim wasnt all that interested, but now she's kind of wanting to see what is going on. So we'll definitely be playing more of it. I'll do a full blind run before going back with a guide.

We played through the first two areas after having a heck of a time figuring out the weird invite system. Unfortunately, the connection kept kicking me out, so that was the end of it. The first achievement apparently glitched or does weird things in multiplayer, since I couldn't join in from the absolute beginning. Bit annoying... Seemed pretty fun so far, though I'm not sure how doable single-player will be with how tanky those zombies are. Headshots do interesting things sometimes... Probably be a while before I get back to it. I'll either hold out for co-op or see if the mood strikes me in October. I'm still up to try again, just not been around as much as usual. I will be doing something a la Billy and make something up for my reviews as I haven't played any of the games from my initial list, but I have tried some interesting games. Mildly humorous writing may be occurring.
Popular Post ItsMeMartyy
Game #15 - Assassins Creed Black Flag Day: 23,24 / 31 Time Played: 6 hours Graphics: The last Assassins creed game I played was syndicate and compared to that game this game looks a lot more grainy and not as smooth, makes sense seeing as the game came out years before and is also a ps3 title. Nothing special here but there is a lot to see and the draw distance is pretty large which helps the game for the better because being a pirate and in ships you need to see far in front of your ship to see incoming threats and enemies. On foot it is also important because you need to scope out your objectives. Overall, it's not great graphics but it is not hard to look at and it puts the priorities where they count. Sound: This game has a very different theme than other AC games, being that involves ships and pirates and you aren't actually a true assassin the music and ambiance should be a lot different than the norm. Luckily this is the case and the music and sounds are a lot different and they really suit the whole theme of this game. Great job by the team on the sounds and music in this game. One thing is I will say is the characters and voice acting aren't standout or memorable at all really, but they are fine. Gameplay: I played for 6 hours and I do not even think I scratched the surface. This game has an insane amount of content, it is actually crazy. The combat in ships and as an individual is great and there are tons of rpg elements in this game as well. I haven't done enough but I can say the game is massive and everything seems fun to get I would imagine up until the last bit of grind I can see it fizzing out a bit but I am excited to revist this game and spend 30-40hrs on it. Fun Factor: Took me a few hours to get into it but after that first intro bit the game picks up the pace and allows you to have some freedom in what you want to do. It's as fun as all the other games in the genre and if you like naval combat you might find this game to be a blast. Closing Thoughts: This game might be one of the biggest and best in the series, I think at 8$ I payed for the deluxe edition this game is great value. Really good, though. Now you made me curious! I really have to finish that game! Day 27 - Book of Potions Time played : 1 hour 1/2 Trophies obtained : 10 / 46 Completion % : 14% Rank : E Last KYC, I tried this game called "Book of Spells" which was taking place in the Harry Potter world. With the PSMove and the PSEye, you had to replicate spells and do some "mini-games" based on spell-casting. I must be honest, the game was not very fun. After an hour or so, my wrist and my arm used to hurt and everything was so slow-paced that it was quite boring. Since then, its brother, "Book of Potions" has been staying on my shelf, waiting patiently for its turn to shine. I played it for about an hour and a half and I've already finished two potions out of seven. The plat will not be very long or very difficult to obtain and that's a good thing because this game makes me sleepy. However, if I had to choose between Book of Potions and Book of Spells, I would choose the first one. The activities are more varied, you have to stir, pour, cut, chop ingredients in order to create your potions and the game keeps you moving, unlike Book of Spells in which you had to watch several never-ending stories with minimal interaction. I wouldn't recommend it though. First, because it's expensive, and second, because I was checking the clock every couple of minutes and thinking that getting the three-hour requirement was going to be difficult. One good point is the French voice actor who did a great job. His snarky comments have made me smile more than once. Current completion rate : 81.87% (-5.79% since the beginning of the event T-T) I've already started FFXV and I'm actually very impressed with the graphics. Popular Post dmland12
Game #9: Atari Flashback Classics vol.2 Game Progress: 19/25 Trophies (71%) Completion: 88.96% (-0.22%, -5.90% from start) I think I mentioned this in the last KYC, but the very first console I had as a kid was the Atari 2600. It wasn't too long before the NES got real popular (I'm sure it was already available at the time I started playing Atari, but it seemed to take new stuff longer to catch on back then). Unlike classic NES games, these Atari games can't really hold their own anymore for the most part. Whereas you can probably enjoy Super Mario Bros 3, Metroid, or Mega Man without much nostalgia, you probably need it to appreciate these Atari titles. There's 50 games in here (41 Atari 2600 games, and 9 Atari arcade games), but you do have to keep in mind that games at this time generally had very little content. A fair amount of these I had already played before, but many were new to me. Overall, the experience of trying out the games was pretty much what I recalled the first time I got a bundle of used games at a yard sale. Most were kind of bad or pointless, some were somewhat interesting, and a few were real gems. Thankfully, as far as trophies go, you only really need to play the better ones for the most part. I really liked the chance to earn some trophies for some of the earliest games I can remember enjoying, especially Adventure. Here's my run of that game for the Stealthy trophy. It looks and sounds terrible now, but this was my favorite game when I first played it. Closing thoughts: I think it's unfair to compare these games to modern games where they will certainly not measure up. Overall though, I enjoyed them for what they are. My Rating: A (with a heavy dose of nostalgia)

No worries, things have been pretty busy on my end too. Would be nice to know what the problem was if nothing else, considering I've played with two other guys in Europe since with no issues. Not as much progress as I need, but two in a day's inching closer to where I should be. The Deadly Tower of Monsters 3 hours played 11/24 (45%) Wasn't exactly into it in the beginning, but once you get farther in, this top-down shooter is surprisingly fun. It's got a ridiculously cheesy B-movie sci-fi plot that's been growing on me as I go, despite not being fond of either category. Think I'm roughly a third of the way through the story so far; my only complaint with the game is the fixed camera being off at times. Probably get back to this one as soon as Unity is done, but that may change as I go through the rest of my list. Contrast 3 hours played 21/21 (100%) Certainly didn't expect to just sit down and beat it that quickly, but apparently it's rather fast if you have a collectible checklist handy. I'd been putting it off because I thought they'd be a major pain. Stayed up a bit late to push through the ending.. which has a sudden difficulty spike. Contrast is a puzzle-platformer with a fairly unique style - the puzzles all involve setting up shadows on walls to let your character fade into a shadow herself and jump to the next area. Unfortunately, the platforming feels a bit slippery and can lead to some sections taking quite a bit longer than they should. The story is honestly a weak point. You essentially help a little girl do various tasks, and the entirety of the plot focuses on her troubled family - it's all pretty bland. You learn nothing about your character beyond her name, and I really would have liked a bit of backstory or world building. I suspect this is targeted at children... I love the general aesthetic, even if it's not the most impressive out there. It just fits in well with the jazz, for some reason.
Popular Post DamagingRob
White Knight Chronicles... Remastered?- Day 1 Technically, I'm playing the first game. A remaster of the first campaign is on the disc, but it shares a trophy list with the second game. You have an option to choose either campaign at the start, and will start at Level 1 in WKC1 or Level 35 in WKC2. I thought it best to start from the beginning. The game begins by having you create your character. Gender, hair color, build, etc. Lots of customization options. Then lots of cutscenes. For the single player portion, your created character is kind of just along for the ride, and you can use him or not. Considering only Leonard can transform into a White Knight, that's who I'm playing with. And with 2 party members now that talk, Rob has been kicked out of the party. Sorry, Rob! For what I thought was more of an MMO, this fully voiced story with a lot of cutscenes, wasn't quite what I expected. You start out with just Leonard and Rob, and Leonard has been tasked with going to a nearby town to pick up wine for the princess's party. We head out, and end up travelling across a huge map to reach it. Fighting monsters as we go. Upon reaching the town, we get the wine and Yulie joins our party. Yulie is Leonard's childhood friend. And we escort the wine wagon back to the castle. But along the way, we are attacked by a giant troll! After killing it, we make it back to the castle safe and sound. At the party, shit hits the fan, and people are being killed left and right. And one of them is the King! Leonard leaps into action, and saves the princess from suffering the same fate. They escape to the castle's lower levels, and now you are playing solely as Leonard. Rob and Yulie are off doing other things. In a cutscene, Yulie is attacked and saved by Eldore while Rob just stands there like a mook. ._. Not cool, Rob. After escorting the princess, Cisna, through the lower levels, you find a giant suit of armor. Using this, Leonard transforms into the White Knight, and fights a giant monster. This is where I suffered my first game over, as you need to strategize well to kill this thing, and not run out of MP. But I killed it on my next attempt. Then the princess is kidnapped, and Leonard is asked to save her since he has the power of the White Knight. So now, we're journeying with 4 party members, as Eldore has joined us. He was a servant of the queen or something. I made it to some town in the middle of the desert, and am hoping I'm not stuck.. You can't leave, and I'm not fairing very well in the boss fight there. Hopefully, I can figure out a way to beat her, or I may be done with this one. Battle system reminds me a lot of FFXII. Enemies are visible on the map, and there are no loading screens for encounters. You just run up to them, and choose to attack. Then it becomes a turn-based affair. As you level up, you can buy skills, and set up combos with said skills. But the higher a combo, the more action points it takes to execute. Action points are obtained by attacking or getting attacked by enemies. There are quite a few different classes and weapon types to choose from. Similar to Dark Cloud 2, which was also made by Level-5, your equipment can wear down and eventually break, losing its effectiveness until repaired. You can spend a bit of money to fix it at any save point, though, which is nice. Don't have to run back to a town and shop. Each town has a weapon and item shop, a place to pick up quests and bounties, and NPCs you can talk to. So, similar to Dark Cloud 2, I am enjoying the story. But worry about how challenging it will get, and whether or not I'll be able to even beat it.. I like the gameplay more in this one, though. Time played: 5 hours. Trophy progress: 1/25 for 1% and an E rank. Edit: I also don't know why there's even a "Retry" option, if all it's going to do is return you to the last save point. Because of this, for every attempt at fighting that boss, I have to go back to the bar, talk to everyone in it, skip cutscenes, fight some grunts, and then get to fight the boss. Very tedious. Popular Post JoaoQuique
Game Nº 8 [Handball 16] - Final Report First Day Report: Click here First of all, I should say I'm having lots of fun playing this game, but probably it's because a lot of reasons: I'm well motivated about building a guide for this game; my strategy about this game (and my guide also) consists of letting the game idle when you are in a comfortable advantage (on other words, I could do anything else while working on this game - this "feature" requires changing option settings); and I'm addicted to sports games. Having said that, technically this game is a bit awful (it is not as glitched as Vita versions, at least), too simple for an AAA-priced game (I'd bought this game in a 85/90% off) and there is not any tutorial or difficulty levels!! Summarizing, this game maybe is acceptable only for people which loves sports games and are not too picky about a game (and probably are not a "handball addicted", because this game fails to be a "simulator" neither an "arcade"...) Playtime: Almost ten hours Trophies obtained: 18 from 26 (Completion at 53% - Rank A) Personal Completion: from 71,12% to 71,11% (71,02% after first day) Final Ratings: Graphics: B - this game's graphics are quite simple, but are decent. Sound: C- - the main menu's BGM reaches boredom fastly, and there are small in-match sounds variety - they become awful quickly... Gameplay: C- - excessively "simple" but quite hard to put in practice (for instance, I played this game a lot while KYC and had Plat'ed on Vita, but I still don't know how to do regular shots...) Replay Factor: C- - this game does not have variety - basically you will just work for Platinum... Trophy-wise: B - actually its trophy list is a bit smart and simple to undestand - however, some trophy descriptions are misleading... (I think, for instance, that "4-star recritment" trophy is misleading than glitchy...) Personal grade:

Solid in most aspects with only minor anoyances. That's how a remake or reinterpretation or whatever you want to call it, should be. - Just platinumed this game myself several hours ago and I agree 100% with you on this game. Other than the race trophies(which I managed to get in a couple of tries, which is amazing) and the grinding(which took a second challenge run) the trophy list is not too bad.
