Property_Damage
I think its kind of bullshit to ban the account They should have just added a filter to screen out inappropriate text granted the grammar isnt correct but still...

Probably what actually happened, is it took 8 years for someone to report them. Sony doesn't monitor users, they rely on reporting to find out anything. Everytime something like this happens, I say the same thing. They shouldn't have made a name like that in the first place. If it's questionable, or you're trying to get around censors, then you're doing something wrong, and shouldn't be surprised when you get banned. This all the way. Make a stupid account name, face the consequences. It's a privately owned company, their terms their rules. If you don't like it go make your own console system. But you fruitist bigots are just trying to shove that under the rug, along with all the pro-apple monsters in the fruit stand industry.

I remember one time I was making a new character in World of Warcraft and just to test it, I put Jesus in the name. Obviously I thought it would already be taken, but no, It won't even let you use that name. That name gets grouped with Nazi and Hitler lol wtf... Today, in 2018 and especially 2017, everything is offensive? Lol. We will live in a dystopian future, were even the word apple can be found offensive. Watch... Sony's answer to that question, if you parse through the terms, is whatever gets reported as offensive. They covered their ass by saying "in their sole discretion." In reality, if you stay offline, you can't violate the rule and can have whatever username you want, thus the reason why people can go a long time with usernames.

I remember my mother telling me never to talk about your personal life at work, be careful of voicing your opinions because you know... people are vipers, snakes, they'll try to use anything against you because of their petty empty lives, their bs, etc. I thought about what she said, funny thing is, even if you don't talk, people will make shit up anyway... 3 minutes ago, Aexuz said: What about TurdFlingingApe? Popular Post Asvinia
I think it's pretty bad of Sony to not just offer him a name change, or at least offer to make available any digital purchases to a new account. Or refund it. In the argument against digital it's a pretty big blow, as someone like me could just shrug and I still have almost my entire library available because I purchase games almost exclusively physically. Whereas an exclusively digital purchaser could've just lost thousands and now has to buy it again, or switch to another console/PC out of principle. The guy was 12 when he made the account and admits it was a stupid name, but loads of kids have made stupid names, or names with innuendos and bad taste jokes. So you can't use the 'But there are kids online!' argument, especially nowadays when children are watching porn before they hit double digit ages. Children are not as naive as people think anymore. Then we have the current climate of ultra-political correctness, which wasn't around 8 years ago. It's easy to say 'they should use a better system', but what is considered offensive is purely subjective. This guy would've been reported to Sony, and someone at Sony has probably shrugged and gone 'yeah, that might be offensive', and banned him. Personally I don't find it offensive and wouldn't have banned him, and I don't think anyone realistically would find it offensive. But a lot is acted on subjective feelings nowadays, and what would've been ignored 8 years ago is now at the forefront of attention. The risk of offending someone is all people seem to be worried about now, whereas 8 years ago, no one would care. They'd crack some 'Yo Momma' joke and you'd go your separate ways. Dumb joke from dumb kid is dumb, but he should've been offered a name change or a transfer of purchases to a new account, not a lifetime ban in my opinion.
Slipknot_rooney
Bit harsh in my opinion. Yes, it's a stupid name, but that's all it really is, a stupid name. Why it would offend anyone, I really don't know.
Popular Post Undead Wolf
This outcome was inevitable, and I'm sure he knew it could get him in trouble back when the account was created, even if he was a minor at the time. If he really turned down the offer to transfer his licenses to another account, I don't have much sympathy for him. If he just straight up got banned, though, that's way too harsh a punishment. I mean if Sony just sorted their shit out and allowed for PSN name changes, it likely would have never come to this in the first place. Either the guy would have changed the name of his own accord after growing up and realising it was a dumb name, or Sony could have forced him to change the name but keep the account, much like it's done on Xbox Live. But yes, this is one of the many reasons why the "all-digital future" isn't the utopia some people claim it to be...
Masamune
Is this the account in question? https://psnprofiles.com/KingMADAFAKA If so, at least he didn't have 100 platinums of something (actually, it's practically empty). I would be insanely pissed if my account got banned over something stupid like the name of said account (after you put 1000s of hours into it). I have heard Sony is working on a way for people to change their PSN name, I don't know any specifics though, but I know it probably will be a while before it happens. Popular Post lesk8vaincra
Well, this psn ID was clearly not a great id but... It was created 8 years ago oO. Just imagine a regular 12 year old boy. He is stupid. Like pretty much everyone at that age. He creates a PSN id and start to play online with it. Like a lot of people, he begins to regret the ID he chosed, but hey, sony don't allow to change it, and he already spent some money he earned by washing his dad's car on PSN games. So, he just go on with it. Then, 8 years later, he is just getting banned because of this poor choice... I mean, i can theoritically agree that this username should not be used, bla bla bla, but come one, a ban for this? Just change its nickname.
