Popular Post Honor_Hand
Lol, Copanele unlocked the Badge of Shame trophy in real life for getting a FIFA game. xxD It reminds back when I got my Gamecube and a bundled copy of FIFA 06 alongside it. I got it not because I wanted it, I got it because it was pretty much my only option for getting a Gamecube at the time. Anyways, I did pop the disc in, played for a bit, and had a decent time. But it wasn't long until I realized that FIFA 06 was pretty much the only FIFA game I needed to play in my life. xP Just like in Romania, everyone loves FIFA in Venezuela too. It's pretty much a system seller here. Pretty sure there are plenty of people out there that have bought a PS5 solely to play the newest FIFA. Congrats on getting that flaming new PS5 there, man! You deserved it, especially if you were having issues with DS4 controllers there. Always nice to see the Copanele Entertainment Family growing. You might want to keep that PS4 around for a little bit more, though, in case you need to self-boost a game or in case you find a PS4 game with issues when played on a PS5. I will be joining the PS5 club later this year, hopefully. For sure that I'll be using it to enjoy even-more HD waifus in Genshin, heck yeah. ;D

Damn, you were "blessed" by a FIFA too? ?can't believe how many similarities there are between our countries. Damn FIFA. The fun fact is that a friend DID buy a PS5 with the sole purpose of playing FIFA 23...and he paid for a bundle which would be the equivalent of PS5 + 2xnormal FIFA price, aka hella expensive. Obviously, friend that I am, told him I got it for free (I did give him the Unlimited League code or whatever for free just so he won't unfriend my ass ?) 33 minutes ago, Honor_Hand said: Congrats on getting that flaming new PS5 there, man! You know it : more systems = more chances to boost. KoF13 remaster is announced...and I bet there's more PS3 games to be played via streaming with these new consoles. Because that's the only way I justify buying a PS5 - by making it run Shadowman or Turok or some other 1999 ass game ? 33 minutes ago, Honor_Hand said: I will be joining the PS5 club later this year, hopefully. I remember sold the game on eBay. Back then it was a physical box so the value was retained and I clawed back £40 on the PS4 Pro I just bought. I do enjoy my football but the video game equivalent is not really of any interest to me especially with the Pay to Win to aspect and the grindy trophy lists. These FIFA editions are just handouts for the Sony consoles at this point ?

Popular Post Copanele
No. 225 - Dead or Alive 5 Platinum Name - DOA5 Master Hardest Trophy - Survival Master complete all 8 survival courses Difficulty - 9/10 without the patch, 10/10 with the patch While it rarely happens, I do like surprises in videogames. Not the "I expected this to be a masterpiece and all I got was crap" kind, but the "wow, I had no idea this game could be this fun". This was the case with Dead or Alive 5, a long running fighting game series developed by Team Ninja, the guys behind Ninja Gaiden and the more recent Nioh series. If you could tell from the picture above, its main focus are the busty babes, sweaty chiseled men and tons of innuendos. And jiggly mechanics, LOTS of them. Because of this focus, I initially didn't pay too much attention to the actual game (besides, you know, its "graphics" ?). However @FreshFromThaDeli did assure me that this game is not what it seems and it will seriously kick my ass. So obviously, I got this game and quickly discovered these 2 things: He was right, this game kicked my ass to bustyland and back I was wrong, this game is actually hella sick Dear lord what a great time this was!!!! I was super pleased to find out that no, Team Ninja did not leave the gameplay behind and focused only on Kasumi's better parts. Oh no, the gameplay itself is so addictive and fun that I kinda kick myself for not playing this series sooner. Somehow Team Ninja managed to nail the "impact" of the hits that I keep looking for in videogames - when you hit an enemy, you can feel "OOMPH" behind the punches. The main thing about this game is that it has one BIG roster (which is expanded even further in the re-release Last Round later on). You have the main protagonist Kasumi, a missing ninja with some dash of amnesia on her, her way better sister Ayane the purple haired brat. You get the classic Karate practitioner chick Hitomi (who is my favorite from the game), the mega busty American wrestler/ Fan Favorite Tina Armstrong. There's also the MMA girl Mila, the assassin Viper Style user Christie, list goes on and on. The gentlemen side also has some notable representatives: another amnesiac/former amnesiac ninja Hayate, the drunken master Brad Wong and his kung fu friend Elliot, Jan Lee who is the mandatory Bruce Lee insert and is the most annoying piece of shit character in the game with all his wataaas and dragon kicks and of course, we have the mandatory wrestler/grappler Bass, who is slow but can kill you with ease if you leave him near you. The game also features guest characters from the Virtua Fighter series, such as Akira, Pai, Gen Fu or Sarah. The other fun character to join the roster is Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden series, who has been toned down so as he won't absolutely murder the entire cast with his awesomeness. Every character has its distinct fighting style, approach and combos and I absolutely love it. You don't have "shoto copies" like in Street Fighter, you can bet that the Muay Thai fighter Zack will behave completely different from the MMA fighter Mila. You also get particular characters like Kokoro, an innocent and pure Baji Quan practitioner who will absolutely murder you in the game In terms of looks and presentation - what is there to say? 10/10. Everything is gorgeous about this game - from the stages, the graphics, the characters? This is one carefully developed game and it shows, it is a legit pleasure to look at it. The biggest and most notable thing about it is the gravity-defying jiggle physics. Simply put - every girl's chest will bounce and move from every single move/action you perform. If she breathes, it jiggles, to hilarious effects. Despite it being 100% fanservice, bless their hearts, I have to admit I laughed my ass off way more than expected just because of the gravity defying movements of the boobs. It really is hilarious to see Lisa's chest doing full on rotations long after you finished your combo. Also the game also features a "sweat" mechanic, where girls get drenched in sweat from all the "workout". I mean....there's an option for everyone I guess ? Hope you had a great workout player-san! In terms of story - classic Copanele, no goddamn clue. Kasumi something something DOA tournament something something Leifang drooling over Jan Lee, clones and stuff. Yeah I watched the entire story (think there was a trophy for it) but man I can't remember a damn thing. They definitely did not put in the effort there but I can't blame them, they were focused on something else Back to gameplay - this game has a "freeform" type of gameplay, if I can call it like that. At first, it is pretty basic - you have a Punch Button, a Kick Button, a Grab Button and a Counter/Hold Button. The gameplay is not as precise and demanding compared to series like Tekken, you can pretty much string combos by mashing a few punches and kicks without thinking too much. HOWEVER this doesn't mean that the combat itself is simple. Oh no, if you put in a minimum amount of effort (or if you go for the platinum and do every character's input moves) you will discover that oh dear god this game is complex what have I gotten myself into. The biggest and most wtf button out there is the Counter/Hold button. You can counter ANY move at ANY time as long as you are not stunned or juggled in air. The drawback is that you have to input the CORRECT counter move. Enemy throws a high kick? You gotta counter high, else you will eat some extra damage from that kick. Guess correctly and counter low? Well that enemy probably lost its kneecaps and 30% of its life. The counter isn't everything. You can string a lot of crazy flashy combos that would either stunlock the enemy OR bring it into a Critical state. If you bring the enemy in this Critical state (signaled by a big fat red CRITICAL next to them), you can apply a Critical Blow, a special move that will do a big BLAM on the enemy (best way I can describe it) and will stun him/her big time, allowing you to continue and finish the combo, either by more punches/kicks or a Power Blow (a big GET FUCKED attack). Every character has a completely different moveset and button inputs, even counters, so this game really requires extensive training if you wish to actually learn it. As for the trophies and platinum - this game has a rarity of 0.53% on PSNP, and I have to say that Yep that rarity is well deserved. DoA5 requires you to do EVERYTHING in this game, like the games of old, and I won't lie I kinda missed that From the story mode, to the big online grind (no PS3 fighting game is without it!), to finishing all characters' Command Trainings, you will have to WORK YOUR ASS OFF for this game's platinum. There's only one trophy that will be the actual platinum breaker and that is Survival Master. Simply put, you have to defeat a string of enemies on each of the 8 survival courses, difficulty increasing with each course. You will recover 50% of your HP between fights. The courses are as follow: Rookie - 10 matches Easy - 20 matches Normal - 30 matches Hard - 50 matches Champ - 100 matches True Fighter - 100 matches Master - 100 matches Legend - 100 matches The first four difficulties are pretty basic, everyone would be able to complete them without too much of a problem. The big issue arises when you get to the Champ difficulty aka the 100 matches section, that's where the AI gets incredibly broken. This is also where you will curse the Counter mechanic. Remember when I mentioned that the Counter can be applied ANYTIME as long as the enemy is not stunned or juggled? WELL BETTER PREPARE YOUR IN-GAME NIPPON ASS SON! Cause the AI will Counter you like there's NO TOMORROW! Survival Mode is honestly 50% skill and 50% RNG because in some runs no matter how well you know your character, if the AI decides it's time for you to die, then you are done for! I had runs where I faced Brad Wong who only countered me, didn't even attack me once! No matter the input, feint, grab, hold or whatever he only countered 10-12 times until my life was depleted. There was absolutely nothing I could do to beat him However...this Survival Mode truly made me appreciate the game, for some reason. Normally I would be angry and curse but this game made me go "Goddamnit Ayane you beautiful asshole of a ninja, got me again at stage 78, ONE MORE TRY". It gave me a "roguelike" feeling where I wanted to give another go just so I can see if I can make it or not. It did take a fuckton of tries (Master mode took me more tries than all the other difficulties combined) but MAN did it feel good when you finally figured out how to counter a particular enemy and win. It really felt rewarding, seeing your work finally bearing fruits. As for the character I used - there's 3 characters that apparently can make this mode easier. Leifang, who has one spammy move that has to be carefully timed, Lisa/La Mariposa who is a Lucha Libre girl and has some 60% damage combo and Alpha-152, a plasma clone of Kasumi who can inflict tons of damage, if her hits land, with the drawback being that she is countered the easiest. After many tries I went with Alpha-152 simply because she can melt an enemy's life the fastest out of the three. I powered through, used her consistently and yep she did not let me down Also I have to admit, I cheated a bit ? I played the unpatched version of the game, because with the latest patches the DoA5 AI is utterly insane, absolutely countering AND blocking everything to the point where you can't even put a dent in the AI's health bar. I love the game but NOT THAT MUCH so I went for the easier router. In game, I prefer her compared to the original Kasumi Overall, I believe that the game is absolutely fantastic. This game made me actually practice a bit in training mode, a thing that only happened in Guilty Gear (and that is my favorite fighting game series of all time). I had an amazing time with it and it really make me put in the work, a feat that only Persona 4 Arena surpassed with its ridiculous demands. The best part is that DoA5 Last Round is available on PS4 too and it can be tried by everyone (with an easier list too!). So, if you are itching for some beautiful girls fighting, go for the PS4 version of this game Oh, and to betray all my friends - I like this series even more than Tekken. Tekken is more complex, yes, but Dead or Alive is more satisfying. There you go, now I can be blocked in peace ? THE GOOD: The pictures above are reason enough Awesome gameplay A big roster It actually has a story, as stupid as it is Tons of modes The combat impact really feels good THE BAD: If you enjoy this series you will unfortunately have to play DoA6 which is a piece of garbage The Vanilla version is a headache to get AND to make it work online on PS3 RECOMMENDATION - Tekken 7 again, if you want the pure 2.5D fighting experience, Tekken is the series to go. I'll never be good at that one though Edited December 24, 2023 by Copanele
FreshFromThaDeli
Wsll done yet again. Popular Post Copanele
No. 226 - Demon's Souls(PS5) Platinum Name - Slayer of Trophies Hardest Trophy - Sage's Trophy all spells obtained Difficulty - 3/10 At this point, it is mandatory that the first game I play on a Playstation console is a Fromsoftware Souls game. I started on PS3 with Demon's Souls (the true reason of moving to Playstation from PC, on a guest account) and my first platinum on PS3 was Dark Souls II. I bought a PS4 with the main target of playing Bloodborne (best investment ever) and my first platinum there was Dark Souls 3. Well, with PS5, first game was actually Devil May Cry 5 (the OTHER series that I bought a PS3 for), but the first platinum is Demon's Souls Remake. Tradition has been preserved ? Now, I first reviewed the game in my first post of this thread , platinum 5. I thought it was a great game but quite clunky, a beta version for Dark Souls if you will. Then I played it a ridiculous amount of times. Then I platinumed the NA stack. Started to love and embrace the clunkiness. So you can imagine how curious I was about Bluepoint's approach in their remake, which I believe it was a fantastic choice since at this point the Souls series is quite the famous (and infamous) series Well, suffice to say, they nailed it From the very first cutscene and tutorial level, you can see that this game has been brought to next-gen standards. Everything has been remodelled/upgraded while still keeping the original feel. Character models, worlds, it gives you the "YES that's how I remember the game being" feel that you usually have with an old game that you haven't played in a while The biggest and most beautiful changes were done in the Tower of Latria (world 3) and Valley of Defilement (world 5) where my jaw dropped. Especially Latria 3-1 was utterly AMAZING, it conveyed a completely different sense of dread and horror compared to the original. Tower of Latria is probably the best level Fromsoftware ever created The enemies and bosses also received a facelift. The enemies have more personality now, they're more vocal (try pushing one off the ledge, you'll love the screams) and they have received quite the upgrade! Most of them are a treat to fight, they haven't lost any of their nasty attacks (in case you were missing the goblins from Valley of Defilement). There are some hiccups here and there, the Fat Officials are just disgusting instead of disturbing but overall a great job was done there. The bosses are another great success. They feel like a real threat, even if most of them are puzzle bosses. I have a slight feel that they have lost their "threaten" factor with this upgrade, but that might be just because I finished this game an absurd amount of times before Overall I love the new design. What I didn't like however...were the human models. Other than the Maiden in Black (you can't mess her up no matter how you try), the humans give off the uncanny valley feeling. I feel uncomfortable near them and the way they talk and how the mouth animation works make me realize why Fromsoftware never bothered with animating the mouth Patches had one too many face operations Now onto the actual big update - the gameplay. Bless Bluepoint devs' hearts, they actually fixed the damn thing! The original game worked but my god you needed some mental gymnastics in order to keep up with all the trash the game threw at you. In the remake, the combat is snappier, more responsive, your clunky metal man/wizard girl actually can reasonably keep up with the monsters inhabiting the lands. World 4-1 used to be a miserable place because of the rolling skeletons, but now you can roll in any direction and actually keep track of the damn things. New goodies were added too. If you backstab or parry you have a different animation according to the weapon class that you use. Also glory to the 60FPS, you can actually parry consistently now and not have to think 2 steps in advance in order to figure out the good parry frame interval. Also a neat addition that trivialized the game is the Sodden Ring. Yeah it's a pain to get but with that ring you can move with no impediments in the stupid 5-2 swamp that was easily the worst area in Demon Soul. The weapon impact also feels fantastic. My favorite weapon in this game is the Dragon Bone Smasher, a huge lump of iron that you just slam on the enemies. Not only does that game utterly wrecks up everything, you even hear a faint "clank" noise, reminiscent of the dreadful Berserk 2016 anime ? not sure if it's an easter egg, but damn it was fun to slam everything into the ground. Unfortunately, devs also decided to keep the World Tendency and Character Tendency mechanics. I mean, it's normal that they did, it wouldn't be much of a remake if they removed those mechanics. But boy do they still suck ass (they don't influence the server anymore though, thank Umbasa). Basically any action that you do changes the world tendency, towards white if you kill bosses and towards black if you die in human form. For character tendency, vanquishing black phantoms gets you towards white and killing NPC/invading gets you towards black. Fun mechanic, awful if you go for the plat That thing was too big to be called a sword.Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron The only place where the game suffers compared to the original (and it's a personal preference) - it's the music and the voice acting . Everything is too bombastic, too glorious, too...Skyrim. Demon's Souls had that unique ability to convey dread, somber, the fact that you aren't some big shot name, just a lowly fighter who barely lucks out against the Kingdom's most dangerous inhabitants. While the voice acting could not be reproduced (finding the original Stockpile Thomas voice actor would have been way too much of a resource waste), I do feel they could have done better with the music choice. Maiden Astrea and Flamelurker's themes just don't hit as good as the originals did. But again, this is a purely subjective matter, doesn't mean it's bad it's just not my thing! Now the big question - does this remake invalidate the original? I would say hell no!!!! While Demon's Souls Remake is way more accessible, I would still strongly recommend getting your hands on the original, if you have the means for it. Even if they are basically the same game, the atmosphere approach is completely different, it kinda is a "East vs West" approach from what I see. Both of the versions are utterly fantastic though. 100% recommending the Remake, it really justifies purchasing a PS5 ? Now all I am missing is the Demon Souls AS stack. One day I might give one more go to the Lands of Boletaria THE GOOD: an astonishing update to a cult classic gameplay improved tenfold it justifies purchasing a PS5 damn the world looks gorgeous it has enough identity to be different from the original without invalidating it THE BAD: Patches what have they done to you? voice acting just ain't as good personal preference, but I don't like the music choices Recommendation - Dark Souls Demon Souls started the trend but Dark Souls put the genre on the map. A true classic and one of the best games I have ever played
Popular Post Copanele
OVERWATCH 2 DLC - LIFEWEAVER So far, Overwatch 2 was a complete disappointment to me, character wise. All that they released with the Overwatch 1.5 2 was complete boredom, covered initially here. Sobjourn was bootleg Soldier 76 with a Vanquish slide, Junker Queen was just an angry Mad Max chick with a "knoife" and Kiriko was a regular japanese enjoyer girl with fox powers (and some interesting R34 material because people really got bored of D.Va ). A new character was added, Ramattra, who was an evil Anubis like robot who shot with pebbles and got very angery. Nothing super interesting or exciting. So, you can imagine that I wasn't too excited when @Shrooba told me about a new character Lifeweaver. I was "Meh, here we go again, let's install this stupid game". However he assured me that the character is fun. Sooo...I open the internetz, preparing for the worst...and what I see is the most FABULOUS JOJOxPOISON IVY LIKE CHARACTER TO GRACE THIS GAME. NO WAY! BLIZZARD ACCIDENTALLY CREATED AN INTERESTING CHARACTER? Holy work abuse Batman! You mean that they might have dropped that diversity chart and actually used...creativity? Hot damn! I read his character description (I do that for characters even if I don't intend on mastering them) and I get hit with the hot ass description: "Lifeweaver is a scientist from Thailand who harnesses his biolight technology on his mission to heal the world.Entwining the beauty of nature with the practicality of science, Lifeweaver is an intelligent and curious adventurer who plans to use his biolight technology to make the world a better place. Pansexual, witty, kind, cool, and confident, Lifeweaver has deep love and respect for nature, and is always looking to lift up those in need (sometimes literally). Lifeweaver is a team player who loves collaboration, and has the best intentions for all he encounters. However, while he's doing the right thing in his mind, not everyone appreciates his actions. His charm and wit are sure to bring a smile (and maybe a blush) to the heroes who encounter him on the battlefield." Yeah ok so Mr Lifeweaver is truly loving everyone. And healing. Sexual healing even. Now, all's nice and well, but what about his skills? Well just as you'd expect, his skills are as fabulous as he is. Main attack - he actually has 2 types of attack. One is the regular shooting, he shoots rose thorns from his hand. His alternate fire is a lotus flower that heals your allies. The more you charge the more it heals. Ability 1 - Rejuvenating Dash. Lifeweaver...uh...dashes...and slightly heals. It's the most pathetic ability there, not sure if anyone uses it Ability 2 - Life Grip. You yoink the player from one place to your place for some well deserved love healing. This ability can save the asses of your teammates whenever they are under attack, they fall to their doom or they hear a " NERF THIS" from an angry yet sexy Korean woman. Or you can pull your teammates towards a hole or an enemy ultimate if you really hate them Ability 3 - Petal Platform. Lifeweaver throws a big ass flower to lift anyone that steps on it to the skies, It is very useful to act as an elevator, getting you to higher grounds (or act as a sort of trap, lifting the unaware enemy). Sure enough, this little gizmo of a flower can really confuse allies and enemies alike Ultimate - Tree of Life. Captain Planet here summons one big ass tree that heals everyone around for 15 seconds. Downside is that the enemies can decide to not believe in global warming and shoot your tree down. So it's a pretty eh ultimate. Now, about the things we Overwatch players hate the most (apart from other Overwatch players) - the trophies: Added to the already existing DLC Pack 3, because thanks Blizzard The trophies were...so-so in terms of difficulty. Not too easy, but I could get them without resorting to boosting like in Sobjourn or Junker Queen's case. Giving Tree - This one is sweet and simple: Heal for 1200 points with one Tree use. Easier said than done, because that stupid tree is like a "bomb me please" beacon. Thankfully, a "capture the point" map came in handy, during Overtime (end of the match). The enemies and allies were too busy blasting each other to pay attention to the tree. You can see how I did it here. Life Weaving - This was the pain in the ass trophy, because of the game's stupid "prevent deaths" mechanic. Basically when your teammate is under critical health, he has a big fat cross above his head. You must rescue him when that appears AND when he is under fire (people shoot directly at him). Also saving from a certain death fall or an ultimate helps. HOWEVER since the teammates are mad dumb and rush towards the enemy, I rarely had time to actually save them. Also the game would not register a prevention even if I did save the unfortunate soul's ass. Finally, I managed to barely get that trophy during a Escort payload, defense side. I sat back and grappled any poor fucker that was under fire, at some point I even accidentally grappled a Reaper during his DIE DIE DIE ultimate (he wasn't too happy, he cursed me in some imaginary language in the mic). But in the end, I managed to save a happy Bastion from an evil Moira's wave. See the last save here. CONCLUSION. I can't remember when I last had such fun with a character in Overwatch. While his skills are pretty limited (any other healer is marginally better), Lifeweaver himself is such a fabulous prince that you can't help but pick him and throw lotus flowers around. Also there's a lot of troll moments only possible with him, due to his Life Grip ability. I am aware that the next heroes in Overwatch will be utterly pathetic (Activision Blizzard can't pull the same miracle twice), but at least I had mad fun with this dude here and I felt like it was worth buying him. Also Lifeweaver reminds me of Charlote Chulhorne from Bleach and it cracks me up. I think I will play some more games with this character ? THE GOOD: you will be fabulous playing as Lifeweaver his Life Grip is a source of endless fun his Petal Platform can really lift you to places accessible only to flying/grappling characters like Pharah or Widowmaker it's super funny to pop a goddamn tree that heals in the middle of mayhem and robots he sounds funny when he dies THE BAD: while fabulous, he's not that great of a healer he might steal your D.Va...or Soldier 76...or Roadhog if you are a weirdo the robots are not affected by his charms if you unironically love the edginess of Reaper, he might not be the character for you. Might suspect that Blizzard released this character because they fucked up again and are trying to cover themselves Damn, can't believe I wrote so much about an Overwatch character. I really enjoyed this one , huh... Edited April 17, 2023 by Copanele

Popular Post Copanele
Warning: The following post will have some DMC lore spoilers! No. 227 - Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition Platinum Name : Devil May Cry Hardest Trophy: Worthy of Legend S rank all missions Difficulty: 5/10 Ah Devil May Cry...my favorite Action/Hack&Slash series of all time. I've been in love with this series ever since I got my hands on a copy of DMC3 when I was 16. The combat, the monsters, the crazy lore, the Smoking Sexy Style of Dante the main protagonist...this is a series where not only you have to kill various spawns of hell, but also look cool while doing it. Slashing a demon with a huge ass sword is one thing, but doing wheelies with a demonic motorbike and finish by moonwalking with a Michael Jackson hat is another thing. Anyway...where were we...yeah. DMC5 is the latest entry in the series and it's the masterpiece every fan wanted, especially after the dubious attempt of "rebooting" the series (see DmC Devil May Cry). I platinumed the initial release on PS4 (see my impressions on the first page, platinum 47), however my writeup about that game was abit subpar, since it was my first time doing one of these checklists Now that I played this game again on the GLORIOUS PS5, I can do it justice and do a proper writeup. So, let's begin!! As mentioned before, Devil May Cry 5 is an Action/Hack&Slash game where style is all that matters. Compared to other types of games, Devil May Cry doesn't waste your time with pointless minigames or game modes that have nothing to do with the main game itself. No stealth sections, no flying segments (looking at you Bayonetta), all you have to do in this game is do combat and be good at it. And boy is the combat phenomenal in this game. DMC5 perfected the combat that was already mad solid in the previous games. It takes all the good stuff that was built up in the previous iterations (even from DmC Devil May Cry), learned from its mistakes and delivered the best thing on the market at the moment in terms of swordplay. What I find amazing about this game is that you don't need to be a DMC god in order to complete it. You can go through the entire game and experience the entire thing without using a single additional combo. Even on Dante Must Die (game's hardest difficulty), you can power through only with your sword, your guns and spamming triangle. What this game rewards however is style, both literally and figuratively. The point of this game is doing the most amount of combos on enemies and raking up that "Style meter" that pops in the corner of the screen. It starts from a D rank and can reach the SSS rank in matter of seconds if you know how to link the attacks properly. You can even become king of the dance ring and breakdance your enemies into oblivion Doing everything in style is not for show only. Having a high Style meter doesn't only reward you with more Red Orbs (the game's currency, used to buy new moves, items and such), but also the soundtrack itself is affected. At the start of the fight you have the basic soundtrack tune, however the further you go up in style the more "pumped" the soundtrack becomes, vocals even kicking in once you reach A rank. And that's the heart and soul of Devil May Cry: Doing cool shit and feeling good However, the reason why I believe that DMC 5 is phenomenal is not only because of the combat, hell no. Good combat mechanics are not nearly enough to make a game great. It is also massively pushed forward by the characters that you use AND the story behind it. You do need some motivation to kick all these demons back to hell after all. And I think that in this regard, DMC5 nailed it in a way that only DMC3 managed to do it all these years ago. The story of this game is absolutely fantastic. And it's pushed by the most stylish characters ever made. WARNING 2 - Now we really are getting into spoiler territory. NERO - DEADWEIGHT EXTRAORDINAIRE The snotty brat from DMC4 returns here and is the first of the three stooges that you will have the pleasure to play as. Briefly dearmed by a shadowy figure who stole his super powerful Demonic Arm together with the Yamato stored within, Nero is pissed beyond belief. The same shadowy figure attacks Redgrave City and Nero goes to get his arm back. He reaches the Demon in question named Urizen, only to find the guy who kicked his ass in DMC4, the main man Dante, having his own ass handed to him. Nero takes the fight to Urizen instead of Dante...and gets absolutely wall splatted, barely escaping alive. This is how DMC5 opens up and I find it to be a great introduction. Not only is Nero completely powerless without his Devil Bringer arm (that shit was busted in DMC4), but he is also constantly reminded that he is nothing but a novice in terms of devil hunting business, and if someone like Dante is getting demolished then he really has no chance. Also, Nero is the perfect character for a newcomer to Devil May Cry. He has only 2 weapons, his trusty sword Red Queen, a sword with a motorcycle throttle that Nero can rev up to increase its damage, and his double barrelled gun Blue Rose, a revolver that can be filled with additional explosive shots. Nero's gameplay is simple, precise and effective, perfect to slowly introduce you to the madness of DMC5. Nero's previous demonic arm Devil Bringer is removed. Instead he can equip various mechanical arms devised by her friend and partner Nico , called Devil Breakers. These new arms allow Nero to expand his arsenal and they come in various flavors, such as Gerbera, a propulsion arm that allows Nero to evade incoming attacks, Overture, an electric arm that repels any attack or Buster that emulates Nero's old Devil Bringer and allows you to slam demons around. These Devil Breakers are mad fragile however, so if you get attacked while using them, they break and become unusable. You can also sacrifice an arm to escape a dangerous situation, such as being grabbed by a demon. And finally, every Devil Breaker has an "ultimate move" , where if you charge the Devil Breaker attack button, you will unleash a devastating attack that will pretty much demolish the enemies, at the cost of the arm itself. You can even air surf on your own arm! I think Nero is my favorite character in DMC5, purely because of his character build. The entire game is a "pass the torch" ritual from Dante to Nero, but unlike other games, you do see Nero's growth from a punk ass kid to a legitimate and reliable devil hunter. He is also conflicted by all the events that happen around him, together with the feeling of powerlessness that plagues him since DMC4. It was really enjoyable to see him finally growing up and earning his place as the Devil May Cry protagonist (because seriously, we need another one, Dante has become strong to the point of ridiculousness). Few games manage to nail this. Also his interactions with his colleague Nico are absolutely hilarious. Nico is this country bumpkin Southerner girl who is a badass, cracks jokes, mocks Nero constantly and has an obsession for inventions. Honestly Nico adds some crazy charm to the game and I really could not imagine DMC5 without her wiseass remarks She is also your vendor, popping up from anywhere with her seemingly indestructible Devil May Cry mobile van. I'd say that Nico is in a league of her own. Your local arms dealer All of this plot did not happen overnight. There is also a mysterious man who informed both Dante and Nero about the resurgence of the Demon Emperor Urizen. A man who has a flair for drama, demonic pets and poetry. And that man is... V - The world is pain Also V for Vevil May Cry yeah bad joke I know V is a completely new and weird addition to Devil May Cry. A shadowy figure, he informs Dante about the coming of Urizen and later also sends Nero to help Dante. V seems to be knowledgeable about all the events happening AND all that happened before DMC5 (and if you know your DMC lore, you will instantly guess who he is). The most interesting thing about this character is the way he fights: V by himself has no powers, he's just a weak and frail man with a cane. His true combat power comes from his familiars: His ranged attacker Griffon, a foul mouthed bird who can shoot pellets and lightning at the enemies, also allowing V to glide out of the danger, and his melee attacker Shadow, a shapeshifting cat who can attack in all manner of ways. V also has access to a mechanic called Devil Trigger, where his hair turns white and he summons his most powerful familiar Nightmare, a behemoth of a golem who has slow but insanely powerful attacks. These familiars cannot kill demons themselves, however they can stalemate them. The demons turn ash grey, at which point V can apply the finishing blow with his cane. You will have to be careful though, because V is not invincible during the finishing blow and you can easily eat an attack while trying to finish demons. V also has a very specific mechanic where he pulls his poetry book and starts to recite William Blake verses, which increase his Devil Trigger bar and recovers the pets' lives in case they get down. V is all about the dramatic and flair, which is included in his taunts, where he can play an air violin or do all manners of bows and pirouettes. All in all, V is a very quirky "summoner type" character who prefers to command his troops while he sits away sipping wine and reciting poetry. People didn't quite like his gameplay, I however loved the creativity. How in the name of Sparda did they manage to implement a SUMMONER in a Hack&Slash game is beyond me, but I once again applaud Capcom and the director of this game Hideaki Itsuno for coming with this crazy idea In the end, only one character can make devils cry. Only one man is smooth enough, strong enough, carbohydrated enough to deal with all the heavy shit and the heavy lifting. And that maaaaan iiiiiiiiiiiis DANTE - YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD HOMELESS MAN I just HAD to put this picture The main protagonist of the series, the pizza devourer, the man who could do a stage play out of thin air while battling scientists, the guy who always gets stabbed to the point where it's a staple of the series, DANTE! He is the third character that you will unlock at the middle of the game. For those who have played DMC before, you know how he is. For those new to the series, Dante is the embodiment of the everything AND the kitchen sink. He is an absolute monster of a character, having so much firepower that it's mind numbing. Dante's like the final exam in university where the teacher gives you that subject that you skipped because "no way he's gonna give us that": He has weapons, he has guns, he has styles. I honestly do not even know how to properly characterize this man, so I will go with the list instead: Weapons: Dante usually collects the souls of the bosses that he defeats and turns them into Devil arms. In true Dante fashion, he collects only the most stupid ass shit existent. In this game, he has at first his trusty claymore Rebellion and a pair of gauntlets called Balrog with which he can deliver devastating punches and kicks. Later on he unlocks a pair of ice nunchucks that I won't reveal yet, they're a blast from the past and a motherfucking demonic motocycle that he uses as pair of heavy swords. Yeah you can do wheelies and tricks on the demons' asses with a goddamn bike. That tells you what kind of a clown Dante is Guns: Dante loves his guns. He has his pair of peashooters Ebony and Ivory (that now function according to their description actually, they are different in usage) and his most badass weapon in the world Coyote-A, a stupid ass shotgun that is anime levels of power, Dante being able to nunchuck it, slide with it, stab with it, make love with it and of course shoot it in all manner of ways. Dante also unlocks a Rocket Launcher because of course he is and the Faust hat that turns Dante into Michael Jackson. I shit you not. Styles: Contrary to Nero and V, Dante has a special set of moves called Styles, selectable via the D-pad arrows. Trickster is the evasion style, allowing Dante to run away from troubles and electric companies. Swordmaster is the style that allows Dante to use even more Sword/Punch/Bike moves, unlocking 1000000000 combo routes and types of damage and causing great damage to your fingers. Gunslinger is great for your guns, useful if you are tired of the whole combo shit and just want to unload a bazillion rockets or Michael Jackson meteors on enemies. And finally Royal Guard is the most powerful style of all times, where you can parry and redirect the damage inflicted by the enemy back to him....if you can time it correctly. Devil Trigger: Dante has one and it just quadruple his damage and speed and everything. Honestly Dante is not for the faint of heart. His gameplay can be daunting at first, considering how accessible Nero was and how "spammy" V was. However, once you learn this local hobo's playstyle, you can see why he is so damn powerful in the first place: He can finish fights in seconds and dish serious amounts of damage. In terms of personality, Dante hasn't changed that much, he's the same wiseass, but you can see that he is serious this time. He knows who Urizen is and for the first time he takes the challenge seriously. He is also way more mature (and probably way more tired from all the stabbing) so it's easier for me to take him seriously, compared to DMC4 where everything felt like a vacation to him. In the special edition, there is a fourth playable character, he was just a DLC in the PS4 version. I will briefly mention him because really, I don't want to shoot ALL the spoilers. He showed up in DMC3 and DMC4 as a playable character too: VERGIL - THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING I won't say much about him. Just that he's the absolute strongest of them all, most badass of them all and has the sickest soundtrack of them all. Vergil is an absolute mad lad of a character and for those who haven't played DMC5, play it and you will see why the fandom loves this edgy boi. He is a true Berry Delight As much as I praised this game, there are 2 minor complaints that I have, very minor but let's throw them here. First of all, the levels themselves...aren't that great. The game starts strong, with Redgrave City being overrun by monsters and demonic plants, but then half of the game happens in a red-and-blueish demonic corridor. Not the greatest honestly. Also, there are 2 fan-favorite characters Lady and Trish. They are some of the most badass female characters in videogame history, especially Lady who was a main character in DMC3. In this game however, they are kinda demoted to the role of "jobbers", only being around to act as exposition and get kicked by Urizen. It's nice to see them back (especially with their redesign holy damn they look fine) but I wanted abit more involvement from their part. Thankfully Nico steals the show so not all is lost. Also also, where is Kyrie? She is Nero's love interest and his motivation in DMC4 but she doesn't show up at all in 5, only as a voice over the phone. Where's my innocent damzel in distress?? In terms of platinum...yeah this game is reasonably tough. It demands a lot of you, having to S rank all the missions on almost all difficulties: Human, Devil Hunter, Son of Sparda, Dante Must Die, Hell&Hell. The game can be relentless on Dante Must Die (demons get devil triggers) and Hell and Hell (you get 3 lives per level only), especially since some missions demand a no damage perfect run if you want the S rank. Considering how many strategies and ways to approach this game are however...it's not nearly as bad as you would expect. For me, the platinum was an absolute joy. I played this game at launch and there were NO strategies present, no guides, nothing, so the plat was reasonably difficult. But now, seeing all the advices online + my experience with this series..it really was a relaxing game honestly ? absolutely had a ton of fun times with it. I mean, I have all the platinums in the Series at this point Ah and for the rating, what I think about this game? It's the reason I love videogames. DMC5 is one of the best videogames I have ever played and is the absolute apex of the genre THE GOOD: Best gameplay you could ever find in an Action/Hack&Slash game Amazing characters Nero is the perfect introduction to the series' gameplay A fitting conclusion to the Sons of Sparda arc Banger music The style system is insanely good The game looks amazing overall You even have an in-game recap movie that brings you up to date with the events Vergil is an absolute monster of a character still THE BAD: Level design is not that great Lady and Trish are underutilized Rating system in Mission 8 and 10 are abit stupid Recommendation - the rest of the series Really, I have no idea what other series to recommend, so...play the other games Just be careful with DMC2, that one is a stinker. Popular Post Copanele
No. 228 - Marvel vs Capcom 3 Platinum Name - Master of Fate Hardest Trophy - Leading the Charge - surpass the Rank of Fighter Ranked Matches have a mind of their own Difficulty - 4.5/10 Marvel vs Capcom 3 the vanilla version is a game that has eluded me for quite some time. I did want to platinum this version also, problem being the fact that it's available only on disc...and I live in a country who knows only about Mortal Kombat in terms of fighting games, and eBay delivery prices surpass the price of the actual product. The only guy who had a copy cancelled my order just because, and I quote " my cat scratched half my discs so I can't send you the game in this state". Nice guy, screw his cat though Anyway...a while later I had a trip to Italy. Ate pizza, visited Firenze, saw that stupid tower that I kept trying to climb as Ezio in AC2...more pasta... good life. Once I had my fill of glorious Renaissance architecture, I thought "hmm, aren't there any game stores available around here I wonder??" Found the nearby store, browsed the PS3 selection just out of sheer curiosity and LO AND BEHOLD! A beautiful copy of MvC3 chilling on the shelves at only 12 euros! No cat scratches either! I like how they slapped "Ultimate MvC3 " on the cover As for the game itself...yeah it's Marvel vs Capcom 3, a great game. The vanilla version is a bit more clunky than the Ultimate version (which I reviewed here if you are interested) but still controls great overall. An unexpected headache were the online trophies: Who will answer the call? which asks you to join an 8 player lobby (barely anyone even owns the game, let alone plays it), Combat Specialist which asks you to either fight a 1st ranked OR become 1st ranked yourself (becoming a 1st ranked requires weeks of grinding) and the worst of the worst, Leading the Charge which asks me to reach the rank of fighter, that means 12 Ranked wins. In this game, playing via Ranked is a thing of chance, because the game randomly chooses whether you will match up with anyone or not, despite servers being empty. Finally, I managed to get all 3 of them in a reasonable amount of time. For the Combat Specialist I was helped by a mysterious stranger who asked me to not reveal their name, just to avoid others messaging him about this (THANKS MYSTERIOUS STRANGER). For the other two, a big thanks to @Yuber6969 and @Honor_Hand for still having the game and giving me the much needed helping hand. Fun Fact 1: I could not connect to Ranked matches with @Gommes_ despite playing 1 hour of KoF15 prior to that at a 4 bar connectivity, but I could connect instantly to @Honor_Hand who pretty much lives in the opposite corner of the map ? this game really is a Marvel The offline - typical Capcom grind, play Arcade 36 times, get a bazillion points, boring stuff. The big reward here is, of course, the Mission Mode. The game asked me to do 320 out of all 360 available missions and...compared to the madness that is in UMVC3 (480/500 required), MvC3 was almost a freebie the actual difficulty was the clunkiness mentioned a few sentences above, some inputs would not register. Understandable, since the game is old, but even with that the Mission mode was way, WAAAAAY easier than what the mad people asked me to do in the Ultimate edition. So I had a fun chill time with this game. Fun Fact 2: While the missions are MOSTLY easy...there's one mission that I could not do in a reasonable amount of time: Felicia Mission 10. Again, a public apology to @Honor_Hand for disappointing the entirety of the Felicia fandom with this display of scrubness (Also I tagged you way too many times sorry ) Conclusion - uh....yeah I just felt like rambling instead of saying something concrete. MvC3 is good, but I'd recommend skipping it unless you really love collecting fighting game platinums. The Ultimate edition is way better, way more accessible and way tougher so I'd go with that one. I'll still be available if someone needs a helping hand in boosting this. THE GOOD: Italy is an amazing country (not game related I know) Game looks mad good even in its vanilla version Fun missions remember when Morrigan and Felicia and Trish looked good in Marvel vs Capcom? Goddamn you MvC Infinite... It just has that "feel good" combat THE BAD: Mamma mia that's a shitty online Quite hard to boost for trophies Recommendation - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 yeah go for the good edition. On PS4, cause PS3 is missing 2 DLC characters. Edited May 16, 2023 by Copanele
Yuber6969
Congrats! What you said about the music kicking in in DMC reminds of MGR and Caligula. I loved that aspect of both games. Got way too many games to play to commit to DMC right now, but I'd definitely like to play some day. I'm glad to hear that MVC was clunky with input detection and that I didn't simply suck lol. I would spam the shoulder buttons for crossover combos and the assists rarely happened. If UMVC doesn't have that issue, I might play it (yes I know it's hard lol).

What I discovered about assists...it's a negative edge input...it triggers when you release the button, not when you press it because yeah that makes sense. So in a combo, if you had L->M -> assist 1 -> H, you had to press L+ assist 1->M ->H, so you could register the input, OR hold down the assist button and release it on time. I hate negative edge inputs. This ain't Street Fighter 1 times anymore, wtf Capcom! UMVC3 is way smoother...buuuut way harder I would say. The combos are way more stupid.

For PS3, if you don't find them on a Belgium store, I recommend creating a NA account and searching for your games there. It's how I got some of my games . As for physical stores....yeah very few have PS3 games in Europe, best bet is eBay I think

Popular Post Copanele
Cult of the Lamb - Relics of the Old Faith DLC The almost-unnoticed yet extremely charming roguelike Cult of the Lamb game received a sneaky free DLC. I covered the main game in this post and I quite enjoyed it despite being abit of a buggy mess when I played it. The DLC adds new quality of life improvements (healing your cultists and farming is easier now) and new modes and skill tree upgrades. A new NPC that is simply called ??? tasks you to defeat all of the 4 bosses once again and he will reward you with various items used to further enhance your cult. There is also a special Purgatory dungeon which acts as a "survivor" type of dungeon, where you have various debuffs during the run. There are also the so called Relics which are simply spells with a timer, after using one you have to wait for it to recharge. If this was a paid DLC I would have been abit upset but since it was a free upgrade, it just gave me the opportunity to play even more Cult of the Lamb. Unfortunately, this DLC came with its own set of bugs, the most annoying one was that the trophy Shake Down was unobtainable due to the fact that one NPC was not spawning. Luckily the devs are very receptive to feedback so they released a patch that ironed out most of the issues and fixed the trophy in question. All in all, it's a pretty decent new content (FREE ALSO!) and if you enjoyed this game then the DLC would only improve your experience
