Popular Post Copanele
No. 240 - Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Platinum Name - All Hail, Tekken Incarnate! Hardest Trophy - Tekken Black Belt reached 1st Dan online Difficulty - 3.5/10 I said at some point that the fighting game series where I have the least amount of skill is King of Fighters. Well...that's not true, it's actually Tekken While in KoF at least I have some shotos that resemble Street Fighter characters (Robert, Ryo, Yuri), Tekken for me is "the great unknown". Barely played the series, I still have no idea how to consistently dodge to the Z axis, combos make absolutely no sense in my head and my god how do you even DO that Paul megaton fist? What I can say however is, the series is mad fun. And I think it reached the peak of fun/madness with Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Tag 2 here is "a fever dream" for tekken fans, from what I gather. All the characters are present here, from all Tekken games, to even some support characters (there's some weirdass old man butler that has like 2 HP but can kick your ass). It's the ultimate Tekken convention and I bet that for the fans this is quite a treat. The unique mechanic is the Tag system: you can fight with any 2 different characters in this game, being able to switch between them on the fly. I am not really a fan of tag characters, but I can see how fun it can be to make your team of punchy/kicky weirdos and juggle the poor opponent into oblivion. Unfortunately, I feel that the game is heavily imbalanced towards this aspect, especially when you have the bound system, where you can slam your opponent into the ground and instantly call your tag teammate for some sick juggles. If you are mad good at this game, I believe you can even "infinite" an opponent, juggling him for 100% of his entire life. Angry Japanese girl and her French friend beat up a fat man in the Netherlands tulip fields. Yep, that's Tekken alright! By far the biggest shock that I had...was how active the online was. This game has online trophies and you need to reach a certain rank (thank god you get points even if you lose). I had some matches prepared in advance with another player, but I joined the Ranked matches just out of curiosity. I found a match in under 10 seconds, which baffled me. Of course I matched against a Tekken God (that was his legit title) and he absolutely pulverized me 😂which shows that only hardcore players lurk those servers. I doubt I've seen anything similar to any other PS3 fighting game before. Speaking of online, I can proudly say that I've done it legit with FinalFan, another PSNP user and a fellow Guilty Gear enjoyer. We decided to play for real and get to the 1st Dan on our own stenghts...I shamefully admit that I used a cheap team of Jack-6 (some nasty ass robot with huge arms) and Angel (a Kazuya like girl with lasers) and just duked it out in the scummiest way possible. He had a mean Paul/Marshall Law team, so he definitely had more knowledge about this game than me. In some instances, if you have wings and a halo, when you lose you get sent to Jesus directly Unlike any other Tekken that I played (T6 and... T7 lol), this one has a tutorial! You enter into a Combot program, where the mad rich/mad scientist/simply mad character Violet creates a robot who can obey any command...and learn any move. You are taught all the mechanics of the game, from punching, to kicking, to tagging, to juggling opponents. It's a fun little tutorial and you can really create your own custom character by learning every move in the game. Grinding for all the moves is abit of a hassle, but the game is more than generous with the resources so you can fully customize your combot in around 1 hour of grind. You also get a shiny trophy for it! One of the lessons ask you to beat a bear in a ballerina dress...just roll with it ok? Besides all that, Tekken Tag 2 offers all arrays of modes: Arcade, Time Attack, Survival, Ghost Battles (sort of a Ranked mode but against offline AI), tons of customization options, there's so much stuff to do that I wouldn't know where to start. As a game, Tag 2 has a crapton of options, maybe TOO many options 😆 The only downside to this game I'd say, are the controls, but this might be my lack of experience. I feel that the combos were abit too weird in their execution and timing. I managed to pull some sick combos but my god I have no idea how gravity works in this game. For now, let's say it's my skill that is lacking. Honestly, I started this game thinking "damn, I will hate tekken tag 2". Instead, I ended up loving it, even if I suck bear balls at it. There's copies of this game everywhere, so if you still have a functional PS3 and like fighting games, definitely grab this one!! THE GOOD: It's like an "all you can eat" for Tekken fans The online servers are still populated The Combot "do your own murder machine" mechanic A lot of options The whole game is utterly ridiculous 😂 It follows no mainline story so it can afford to get wild THE BAD: It's trapped by the PS3 - no port to PS4/PS5 consoles in sight Recommendation - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 probably the other best tag team game that comes into my mind right now. And the last MvC game that was ever made (we do not acknowledge the existence of MvCI here)
Honor_Hand
I gotta say, Verdict Guilty looks like the kind of dumb fighting game I would enjoy. It doesn't have too much in the way of quality mechanics and stuff, but the ridiculous premise and characters sure sound like a winner to me. That said, I checked the game's trophies and they look disappointingly simple. I'll be sure to follow your advice, though, and get it for pretty cheap whenever I see it in the store, Copanele. As for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, I am not gonna say I know much about the Tekken franchise, but it's certainly one of those crazy-quality fighters that's been on my radar ever since I had the chance to play it. I played TT2 a long time ago at a friend's house and absolutely loved it. Seemed like a fun 3D fighting game I could get behind. The roster was massive lol and I had no idea who these characters were, but at the same time, they looked an interesting bunch. I am amazed that there are so many active players in it on the PS3 even to this day. Goes to show that the game has been pretty popular among the Tekken fanbase. That, and I guess there hasn't been a Tag Tournament 3 since then, too. Many congrats on all your latest gaming plats, Copanele. Been kind of away from the forum lately so I am catching up with what I can. =D

Yeah Harada kinda shot down the idea of a Tag 3 (although he still kinda wants to make a Tekken x Street Fighter at some point). That being said...indeed this game is mad fun. MissShake
Congrats on another fighting game classic plat! TTT2 might've been the game that really got me into the series, so I'm really glad you liked it! I remember the ghosts being really cool (and hilarious) in this game, I feel like that mode is better than Treasure Battle from T7... Maybe it'll be back for T8? FreshFromThaDeli
Tekken Tag 2 was honestly my favourite modern Tekken. I spent hundreds of hours playing it. Online ranked was a blast. The best feature was by far Tekken Tunes because on PS3 you could download your own music onto the HDD and then play it in game. Customise it specifically to stages so I made sure to play some Street Fighter songs in the background. It never truly was the same in Tekken 7 because Sony decided to make the PS4 worse in terms of media management. Hoping for a remaster one day because it didn't sell well and Tekken Tag 3 is likely never going to happen.

Popular Post Copanele
💯No. 64 - Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Hardest Trophy - Speedrunner complete the Trial Mode in 2:45 Difficulty - 2/10 An unexpected annoyance that my wife has with me is the fact that I bought a brand new PS5...just to play old ass games on it 😂 I've been grinding Diablo 2 Resurrected like crazy (even switching to classic mode for better vibes). I have played some weird ass pixel fighting game called Verdict: Guilty. Fired up Rumble Fish 2 which is an ass port of an ass fighting game from PS2 era. In fact, the only true PS5 games that I've played were Demon's Souls Remake (originally a PS3 title lol) and Thymesia (a Soulslike who doesn't feel like a pure PS5 game, other than no loading times) However...I feel that I crossed a line with Turok Dinosaur Hunter...a game originally made in 1997. 1997!! Not even Playstation 2 was out back then! But what can I do...when the game is a goddamn masterpiece, age is just a number! Turok follows the adventures of Tal'Set, a Native American who wears the mantle of Turok. Turok is the title of the protector who is tasked with the protection of Lost Lands, an interdimensional jungle-like area which brings all manners of creatures from the universe. When the ultra evil warlord The Campaigner decides to conquer the Lost Lands (and with it, the universe), Turok arms himself to the teeth and starts a one man war against this evil entity. His aim: assemble the Chronoscepter and shove that up Campaigner's ass. With that face, I really fear for the poor dinosaurs This game has a one-of-a-kind tutorial mode, where you are taught the mechanics and abilities of Turok. And this is the very first instance where you can discover the mastercraft of Nightdive Studios. The fluidity, speed and atmosphere of this game is top notch even from the very first seconds of the game. It's best to show than to tell, so I will simply share my successful Speedrunner time trial, where I had to finish the tutorial in under 2minutes 45 seconds. The Lost Lands are a treacherous melting pot of civilizations, many monsters want Turok shish-kebab'ed. Turok at first faces regular humans armed with guns and shotguns and your basic raptors that just chase you around. Later on, you will encounter tougher and nastier enemies, like the Purr-Linn, huge green gorillas that throw fireballs at you, various tribesmen that range from blowdart fighters to fire shamans, alien bugs, robots and even a T-Rex. To counter this, Turok fights with a traditional Native American arsenal...with a few upgrades. You start with your trusty knife and a bow+arrows, who can be upgraded to shoot explosive arrows. To keep it classic, you will soon find a pistol that will give you an edge over the nasties that want you dead. Your arsenal will soon improve by finding a shotgun, an auto-shotgun and an assault rifle. Things get spicy the moment you get to the futuristic stuff, like the plasma rifle. Indeed, Turok is a classic DOOM inspired shooter. Most weapons don't have a shred of realism to them, they only have 2 functions: to look cool as hell and to blow the enemies to bits. It's endlessly fun and bizarre to obliterate poor mercenaries with 4 successive rockets fired from your quad launcher. Or to blow up both the evil robots and yourself with the "Pulse Gun" that is an actual nuke and is different from the Plasma Gun that is just a laser based machine gun. What's impressive for this game is that not only do the weapons have an upgrade system (pistol upgraded to assault rifle or plasma gun upgraded to the alien gun), but you also have different types of ammo - the shotgun can fire regular shotgun shells OR you can find explosive shells, that can kill most enemies in one hit but are more rare to find. Sadly you can't toggle between ammo types in this game (this is possible in Turok 2) so you might end up having to unload a clip of valuable ammo in some lame grunts. No matter the weapons used, Turok will ALWAYS flex his knife at the end of a boss fight Another part that impressed me about this game is how good the maps are. The levels are vast, filled with secrets and goodies ready to be picked. All of the levels are connected via a hub world and are unlocked by finding various hidden keys. You can backtrack and replay a level at any point in time, as long as you don't start the final 8th level. Luckily, you have various save points throughout the game so you can quickly reload in case something goes back. Back on the levels - they're fantastic. The first level is a plain jungle, but soon you will visit catacombs, ancient ruins, lava filled areas and more. My favorite must be Treetop Village, an absolute monster of a vertical level, filled with floating islands and pathways between huge trees. I absolutely enjoyed jumping into the abyss, just to land on another remote island that had just the grenade launcher that I needed. Treetop Village is a damn maze - will you find an invaluable upgrade, or fall to your death? I would normally say, as a downside, that the graphics are poor...except they work in this game! Turok's choppy graphics actually preserve the experience, experience that is further improved by the incredible music this game has. It's not some glorious songs, just some smooth jungle tunes, but somehow the rhytm of the music works wonders with the sound of the guns and the roars of the dinosaurs. I really tried to find faults for this game...and I just ended up loving it more. With the wonderful work of Nightdive Studios, I experiences the best version of both Turok and Turok 2 now. I can safely say that these games represent an example of why I love this hobby so much. Turok Dinosaur Hunter just made my day better 😂 and let's not forget, this is a 1997 game... THE GOOD: Nightdive Studios successfully remastered another masterpiece The gameplay is smooth and responsive The weapons are an absolute treat to use Various enemies that require different tactics to approach - unless you play on Easy mode The maps are intricate and filled with secrets Turok's movements are simply hilarious in the cutscenes THE BAD: It IS an old game - not for everyone The whole review is heavily biased - again, this game might not be for everyone RECOMMENDATION - TUROK 2 SEEDS OF EVIL the only game that makes dino shooting better is the sequel: Turok 2 does everything better, with more difficult enemies, more varied maps and truly zanier weapons. To this day, Cerebral Bore is one of the most brutal and creative weapons made in a shooter.

DrunkenEngineer
Ooooooohhhh fuck yeah! Turok! I totally missed that this had been remastered! The most important question - how bad is the pop-in fog? The original N64 was insane - it felt like maybe 50 feet of visibility before there was the impenetrable wall. I hope Nightdive tightened it up somewhat, but didn't get away from it fully. Your speedrun video looks like the latter.

Popular Post Copanele
The groans continue, as I have finished a game...for PS3 this time! 💯 64 - Dark Awake: The King Has No Name Hardest Trophy - Gold (Gold) - silver Easiest Trophy - Gold (Gold) - gold Weirdest Trophy - Blonze blonze Final verdict - blonze/gold (realistically a 6/10) Dark Awake - The king has no name is Japan's take over the Western high fantasy setting. Having to pick from a menagerie of weirdos, from a Conan-like Barbarian to busty elves to...an orc, you have to assemble a team of any 3 goobers and defeat the fabled King has no name. For lore reasons, @AihaLoveleaf whispered to me that the "correct" translation would be the Nameless King. That makes way more sense and sounds way more badass. Conan getting ready to go Barbarian on a poor Troll You can pick between 18 to form a team of 3. You can mix and match any character you want, KoF style, but there are predetermined teams with races that each have their story. ON THE LIGHT SIDE: Human Team: Ramda - the Conan lookalike who is probably the most busted character in the game. Has a big sword, big muscles, big yell. Has an alternate Guts skin. Sandra - the female version of Ramda. Not as strong but way more nimbler. Cursehead - a big man with a bigger hammer and a big horned helmet. He's incredibly slow however, leaving Ramda to do all the heavy work. Elf Team: Evetta - The classic Archer/Rogue archetype and the second most busted character in the game after Ramda. Fina - Elf mage, the bust(iest)ed character in the game 😌 Elion - some proud Elrond looking motherfucker who flails a sword and wishes to be Ramda. Horrible character, eternal shame bringer to the family. Dwarf Team Dorgan - leader of the bunch, has an axe and loves to spin Vargan - old guy with a gun, pretty useless. Gerhardsen II - little guy with a goddamn Panzer, don't try to pronounce his name ON THE DARK SIDE: Undead Team: Zon - a weird...water...mage...zombie? Awful to fight against, he keeps teleporting Nsidor - A skeleton spearman on top of a skeleton horse. Deceptively powerful! Bernhard - Big angry lich king with a sword, also trying to be Ramda. Dark Elf Team: Vritra - dual swordsman, looks like a Hindu deity Mara - Necromancer, looks like Rasputin Nagar - The counterpart of Fina, looks like a fish, not as bustyed Orc Team: Orc - it's an Orc Gobling - it's a Goblin. On a lizard Troll - it's a Troll What I noticed is that there was quite a lot of care put in the design and the movement of these characters, even if they're your textbook fantasy creatures. All of their attacks have impact, feel representative of their race and most of all, there's a lot of sparkle involved. Swords can clash, magic can cancel each other out, if you block an arrow from Evetta that arrow gets bent and drops...The game is surprisingly smooth. Smooth is the gameplay also. The combat is a bit unconventional (you don't have your textbook light-heavy combos), but once you figure out the mechanics of each character you can dish out some serious combos. You have a tag mechanic also, being able to call out one of your buddies for one sneak attack while the opponent is not watching. An interesting twist is the RPG element of the game - depending on how well you perform in a fight, you receive a number of items. You can pick one of these items on your next fight, ranging from health potions, to shields, buffs, debuffs, all sorts of thing. It brings abit of spice to the fight, some items being able to save a losing round if used correctly. Quite a bountiful inventory As for the AI...it starts out dumb then it becomes insanely broken at the end, typical of the arcade era this game was created. Best way to abuse it is to just pick a team with Ramda and let him twirl like a ballerina. The trophies...well the trophies are one particular reason why this game is kinda known 😂The list looks like it was done by an intern who simply could not be bothered! All the trophies have the "gold" or "silver" or the infamous "blonze" name, with no description at all. Thankfully, via some unholy magic, someone decyphered those trophies and we can now figure out via guides what the game asks of us. It's the classic - win 50 Ranked matches, 100 player matches, finish the game without dying and with 30 items AND beat the game with all races (teams of 3). BLONZE Probably the biggest downside of this game is that you can only get it via JP store. It was never released outside Japan so you better have an alt a nice Japanese cousin that is willing to give you a helping hand. But if you have that - give this game a go.It won't rock your fighting game world but at least you will enjoy the sight of Conan understanding what frame data is 😂 Or Fina not understanding what clothes are 😏 BLONZE THE GOOD: Lord Of the Rings - Fighting Climax Sprites actually look well designed Sound of weapons clashing The game has a fun vibe BLONZE THE BAD: Silver(gold) You need a JP account for this one God forbid trying to boost with anyone outside your country RECOMMENDATION - Shadow of Mordor The first game that came into my mind because of the setting. RECOMMENDATION 2 - X Blades The second game that came into my mind...for some reason. Damn elves Edited December 24, 2023 by Copanele

My no-continue was Ramda, Evetta and Troll 😆 with Troll you can spam club if you mash the medium attack, he starts hitting the ground like a kid on Monster energy. And YES Thiele was waaaay harder. If I didn't stunlock her as Ramda, she would obliterate my team in seconds. In comparison, with King I just took pot shots and won via timeout. 1 hour ago, AihaLoveleaf said: It will always be hilarious to me that Japan received full, detailed descriptions in their trophy list, while we were stuck with... Popular Post Copanele
As many already know, I enjoy fighting games (please hold your shock). Not aiming to win tournaments or get Master class levels of good, I just love to press buttons. However, I had no idea how many of these types of games are actually out there! Thanks to @Meikoro and his extensive PSNP Fighting Game Platinum/100% Leaderboard thread, I actually have the urge to go out there and try them all out, no matter how good or bad (or weird) they are 😂 Sometimes I actually find true diamonds in the rough (Dark Awake). Other times...some yen have been spent unwisely. The only caveat -- whoever waited for me to play specific games will have to endure these half-assed punchy reviews. And so, let's get on to it, with the following entries. No. 241 - Million Arthur: Arcana Blood ミリオンアーサー アルカナブラッド Platinum Name - King of Kings Hardest Trophy - The beginning of the trip tutorial is in Japanese and I did not quite understand what they asked of me Difficulty - 1.5/10 Million Arthur is an anime fighting game made by Team Arcana, the same masterminds behind Arcana Heart series. Those who played the AH games already know the type of game this one is. As for the others...let's say it's not recommended to pull out combos while your significant other (or parents) are around 😂 You get the point Anyway...the game is a fast paced anime fighter where you can pull mad intricate combos by pressing buttons in a sequential order, like in Blazblue or (old) Guilty Gear. It's all about the flashiness, the style, the explosions in this game. Add assists into the mix, each with various elemental powers and you will get a super fun super zany fighting game. As for the synopsis...From what little info I could recover (again, the game is fully in Japanese), you are one of the million (heh) Arthurs that were summoned by Merlin in order to defeat the evil Evil. All of the characters are Arthur variants (I think), ranging from a dual blade wielder Arthur, to a whip based Arthur, to a squirrel girl rogue Arthur, to...that hammer cat Arthur girl. And finally, to Iori from King of Fighters...What???? Yeah the game doesn't make much sense. What the hell are you doing here Iori? And why is the Hi-Score Girl kicking an Arcade machine towards a busty spearwoman? Suffice to say, the game doesn't make much sense. And it shouldn't ,really. I think my lack of Japanese knowledge actually helped the experience because I could simply imagine the stupidest situations with these characters. Unfortunately...without the basic knowledge about this world, this is the most you'll get about this game. Unless you know Japanese, know the background or want to simply play all the fighting games under the sun, there's no real reason to buy this game. THE GOOD: Fast paced gameplay A wide array of stupid characters Iori Hi-School Girl as an assist THE BAD: No real reason to go after this game, as a non-Japanese player RECOMMENDATION - Arcana Heart 3 for conoisseurs only! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright, the kiddies fighting game has been covered. Now it's time to cover a game of a higher quality: 💯No. 65 - Sonic the Fighters Hardest Trophy - installing this game Difficulty - 7 chaos emeralds/10 Brutality - Mortal One Kombat/10 All these years, Sonic was all about running. People loved seeing the little blue blur speeding from one point to the other, gobbling onion rings and jumping over a diabetic fat man with a tendency of enslaving forest critters. The mass was happy to see Sonic save another day, running around and jumping. These people have no idea what true gaming is. Sonic The Fighters is the best Sonic game ever made. HECK, it's the best FIGHTING GAME ever made In this 3D game, you have all the beloved characters in the franchise: Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy the Rascal (Rose is for chumps) and the fan favorite Fang the Sniper. You take all these beloved characters and simply have the best idea since Shadow got a machine gun in another game - make them fight each other with punches and kicks. Beating the rings outta Knuckles The premise of the game is heart-wrenching: In his eternal fights against Dr Robotnik, Sonic contacts the Mad Cow disease. Since that is fatal to mutated hedgehogs, Sonic decides to go for one last run and duke it out with his friends, while his friends want to promote him to "Bambi's mother" status. Truly an Oscar worthy scenario (game has no real story you just beat each other to death). The gameplay has an extensive list of combos, frame data and every situation, depending on which character you are playing. Really, not even Tekken doesn't have this amount of complexity. One of the hardest and most rewarding character in the game is Amy the Rascal, Sonic's self-proclaimed girlfriend. Her toughest combo, that can be done only by a selected few that mastered the fighting games throughout the years, is pressing R2 continuously. By doing the incredibly hard combo of pressing R2, Amy delivers a truly feminine and hedgehogy donkey kick to the face of the poor rodent that faces her. The donkey kick, aptly named Donkey Kick, deletes the life of her opponent, the trophy list and possibly any other random game on your HDD. It takes a ton of training to master this R2 pressing technique, so use it at your own peril. The best part of this game is the camera: forget the lame 2D plane of Street Fighter, the 2.5D Tekken mode or heck the 3D arena brawling. Sonic the Fighter's camera decides to invent its own dimension and constantly AND randomly switch and change between 2D and 5D at the whim of the Gods. Really, I have no idea if I pressed a wrong button or it's by design, but in the middle of the fight my gameplay started looking like this: There are some other misc trophies - fight as Honey the Cat (if I didn't know better, I would have thought it's a name of a hot single in my area), do a mirror match, break a shield (Sonic characters can create force fields Luke Skywalker style) and...get hammered by Amy's hammer. No really, if you are hit by Amy's hammer you get flattened Looney Tunes style. FINISH HIM! IN CONCLUSION: If you have some spare pocket change and a barely functional PS3, give this game a go The game will teach you that running away from your problems is not ok, only by facing them on (and beating hedgehogs to death) will solve the challenges of life. No, really, despite me having fun writing about this game...I actually had fun playing this game too. For an entire 11 minutes, that is! THE GOOD: This game would cure any urge of "forbidden" substances. Amy's Donkey Kick will break the space/time barrier You will be able to brag to the platformer snobs that you too are a valid Sonic player. THE BAD: EVO is too lame to stage a Sonic the Fighters tournament RECOMMENDATION - Mortal Kombat 11 Not quite as brutal, but it holds on pretty well. Slava
Finally, a game Knuckles was designed for 😁. We need him as a guest character in the next Mortal Kombat. Or better put Shadow there and give him a fatality where he rapidly increases the concentration of lead in opponents' brains. 1
