Hey I am not sure if this would count for either? There's a blob of orange in the middle and a kind of pinky colour on the left but not sure if it works.

I finished three games so far for the event.

 

The ever popular Unpacking, Pumpkin Jack, and Final Fantasy XVI.

   

 

I enjoyed each of them for different reasons. Unpacking was a nice relaxing 'puzzle' game that I had fun doing while watching some football games. For a 42 year old homeowner that has moved several times in my life, it was wild how many items there were to unpack that I'd never seen before. It was a nice game to zone out to.

 

Pumpkin Jack is a 3D platformer and I hadn't played one since A Hat in Time. It was way more linear and not quite as good. The hats in A Hat in Time granted you different abilities and you needed to change hats to beat some of the puzzles...there wasn't anything like that really in this game. There are different skins and weapons, but the game is very straightforward. Graphics were nice and it was smooth enough to play so I don't really have anything negative to say about it, but it was an ok game and a relatively short platinum.

 

Final Fantasy XVI I was saving for a milestone and had played mostly over the summer. I've played or own (and will play) every game in the series. I really enjoyed my time with this one, however I felt like it started off exceptionally strong and kind of fizzled as you got further along in the game. It was still very good, but the first 10 hours or so had me feeling like I was playing one of the greatest games ever but then it kind of felt like they weren't sure what they wanted to do or rushed to get it out. It's probably in the top 5-7 for me in the series and is worth playing, but it was just missing that little something. Graphics were amazing though....some of the coolest cut-scenes you'll ever see are in this game.

It's already in the approved list in the Google doc in the OP. Check there, and you'll see it's good for both.

Soul caliber VI can count for pink (from the sky) but there is no pink or orange in Spiderman 2. Just forewarning in case you want to go to something else.

The Division is good, but I'm a no on Killing Floor 2. Doesn't pass the eye test/5 second rule (aka not obvious enough).

No on Dark Souls, you got to zoom in as the outline is orange-ish, not the letters.

I was legit getting my ass kicked at work, coming home exhausted and just didn't have the stamina to run it again. DA RULES:

 

First of all, this is an open-ended event. No deadlines for "sign-ups." As long as you fulfill the requirements, you'll be "signed-up."

 

And the rules for this event are pretty simple. This will be a two-month event starting October 1st and end November 30th, 2023 GMT+0. For every game completed (plat or 100% if no plat) with pink (October's breast cancer awareness) in the PSNP thumbnail or orange (November's prostate cancer awareness). For this event, you can complete as many games as possible as long as they follow the below rules.

 

1. No autopopping platinums (No 10 second plats, sorry!)
2. You can play games you've stacked before, but you cannot stack the same trophy list (same thumbnail) twice for the event. (example: only pop one sound shapes plat, doing all 6 will only count as 1).
3. No games with a RARITY completion percentage above 80%. (I want you to at least sort of earn it). This is NOT the same as average completion percentage. 
4. The game has to at least have been out for 2 weeks in order for it to count (No sneaking in EZPZ stacks at the last second)
5. You must post here during the time period for the game to count and must tell me which color it is (orange or pink, you can only choose one color).
6. I will be making some very standard rules for what can/can't count. I don't want to make things too difficult, but if we're down to analyzing a couple pixels, it's not going to count by me. If a game is really on the fence, just pick something else. I will be making very explicit rules for this so please be sure to tune in to the OP at the end of the week.

 

Other than that, everything else is free game. I don't want to make it difficult for people to earn money for the event, but I also want to make sure people actually have to put in some sort of effort to earn it as well. Otherwise, I might as well just empty my bank account now. Length of the game doesn't matter as long as it follows these rules.

 

EXAMPLES:

 

So, deciding what is orange vs what is pink is not as straight forward as I thought and I'm sure there are some people wondering, "Wtf does he mean by thumbnails and what is acceptable?" One step at a time!

 

1. What is pink and what is orange?

 

These are Orange....

 

These are Pink....

 

Look, I'm not going to insult your intelligence and argue what color is orange and what color is pink, but if you can match it to either of these two, you are good. I'm going to use the honor system here for the most part, but don't use red and call it pink and don't use yellow and call it orange. I'm going to call you out on your bullshit and not count it. At least ask ahead of time if you are really not sure. I'm likely not going to just say flat out no, but I don't want people to tell me Dead Nation is pink when it's as blood red as it gets. 

 

2. Wtf is a thumbnail and can I get some examples?

A thumbnail is the little picture next to the game on your PSNProfile. You can find examples of what would and would not count on the original event post here:

Like I said, I'm not going to be too picky on it, but please use common sense. My suggestion is if you even have to question it, then pick something else or at least ask me before you commit in the thread. I have a few games I've seen where you could convince me either way, but if I have to think too hard on it, I'mjust going to go with my gut. If you are indeed colorblind, I can make an ongoing list, and I suggest others to post what games they are thinking to help as well. Color blindness is a real thing too, and I want to help anyone who has it if they are interested in this event.

Badges are coming back this year. I will be messaging a few people to see if they are interested, starting with a particular doctor who has helped me with this the past couple of years... 

 

Few last things to note:

 

-There is no deadlines for sign-ups, it's open until the very end of the event.

-I'll track participants once a game is finished by them. Technically, anyone can participate in the event even if they don't want one.

-Remember to report back here if you want your game to count. 

-It doesn't matter if you already started the game or not, it counts as long as it's finished between the two dates.

- You can do just the base of a 100% that has DLC trophies, but the rarest trophy has to be under 80% and you must point this out to me if you decide to do this. Otherwise, it doesn't count.

- Pink and orange games can be earned in either month. October or November. Doesn't matter

-I will retroactively count any games going back to October 1st, 2023. If you are late to the party, no worries. Post away!

-Please give the event time to process this year. I'm trying to get a team for the job, but everyone has their own life to live. The event will be tracked as fast as it can be.

 

I will be taking a couple of volunteers to help with the event. If you are interested, please let me know (preferably by PM). However, do not be offended if I don't pick you to help. I only need a couple of people to help. @Starrk_01 will be back again too which was a godsend a couple of years ago.

 

 

For now, if you all want to discuss games to play, would like us to approve games ahead of time, have at it. I am still working on establishing rules for the event to make it easier to choose games and standardize it to where I don't have to answer 400 times so if you want to wait to post until those are established, that's cool too! Hope you all have fun again this year!

 

 

Right now we are establishing some base rules:

 

This is what we are thinking right now:

 

1. 5 second rule - if it takes longer than 5 seconds to make a decision on the color, it doesn't count (so the more obvious, the better). The thing you should ask yourself is, "Do I have to really think if this works?" If the answer is "yes", it probably doesn't work. You can still ask of course, but the pass rate for these are not going to be great.

 

Example:

 

Is that pink or light red in the background? Idk, and even looking at it it's hard for me to say since everything else is so red so this is a no from me.

 

 

2. No zoom needed - If you have to zoom in to see it, it doesn't count.

 

Example:

 

 

The pink on it is really insignificant and when viewing a profile, it's not easy to see with the naked eye. Doesn't count this time, sorry.

 

3. No lips or mouth only - people were quite cheeky in the past with this one and would use human lips or inside of a mouth as the "pink" color. Unless if the mouth or lips are a focal point, it will not count this time. So many people did this in the past and were really getting away from the spirit of the event.

And before people get too hung up on this, I used these examples and invalidated games I am currently playing or could use. I'm not doing it to be an asshole, I promise. Quite the opposite, I want it to be easier for you to choose games without everything being questioned or feeling unsure about your picks. Also, don't want to fry my brain trying to decide either so I'm taking a very simplistic approach to it to streamline decision making 

 

4. Copper is considered brown, not orange. A lot of people normally try to submit games that are metalic and has a copper/penny shine to it. These will be considered brown and will not count.

 

 

Though, as long as it's visible and easy to see, you shouldn't have any issues. See the below examples that would still work. 

 

 

Killzone is easily still orange and even though the rest is gray, still counts.

 

Yellow-y orange,  but the left side is orange enough. It counts.

 

 

Not a whole lot of orange there, but it's easy enough to spot. It counts.

 

Not a lot of pink, but that Donut is definitely pink as it could be. Counts.

 

 

In the end, if you are not sure, you can always ask. However, we don't want to be answering for 500+ games so please be courteous when asking and try not to spam us with questions.

It's a game called Right and Down. I'm pretty sure it covers both colours? Orange sorts of fades into pink (and then purple) as you go down the monster. I'll go with orange, as I'm close to finishing another game for pink. 

 

The game itself was loads of fun. More fun than it had a right to be! It's a deck-builder rogue-lite where – as the name suggests – you can only move your character right and down across a monster-and-treasure filled grid. Despite the simplistic mechanics, there's a surprising amount of strategy involved in this 10-15 hour platinum. I really recommend it to anyone who likes deck-builders and wants a reasonably quick, fun game to plat.

Ah, fair enough . I thought the top of the monster most closely resembled Starfish/Soap orange from the colour charts in the OP. 

 

However, I'm not fussed either way! As long as it counts. Thanks for confirming.

Just to give everyone a heads up, since I've been seeing a few people on the forum ask for suggestions I have made a little change on the approved list. You might have noticed in the past there was a column with PS+ Catalog with the choices of "Yes" or just blank. I've added a few more choices on the column. The choices are now "Premium", "Extra", "Essential", and "None". These are to represent the different levels of PS+ subscriptions and have been updated for all of the approved games at this point.

 

Note I can't guarantee region availability as I was only going by what was on the Playstation website when going through the list, but hopefully this might help some people who are trying to find games to play.

Finished Sonic Superstars earlier. It should absolutely count, since the game came out more than two weeks ago (October 17th) and is still below 80%. I'll count it as pink since I already have two orange games completed.
