Popular Post Mineplanet84
Hey all! The LBP3 PS4 servers have been taken offline temporarily due to a mod that could cause anyone's PSN account to be banned, even if they haven't played the game in ages. More info about it can be seen here, along with the tweet from the official LittleBigPlanet Twitter account: https://www.lbpunion.com/post/breaking-lbp-community-members-falsely-suspended-from-psn/ Considering that the last time something of this caliber happened in 2021 with the DDoS attacks causing the shutdown of the LBP PS3 and VITA servers, this is more than likely the end for this game. There isn't a chance in hell that Sony is gonna fund money into fixing LBP3's server AGAIN. Hell, this even got the Community Manager for the LittleBigPlanet series banned! Edited January 8 by Mineplanet84 not an exploit- its a mod. also adding that the community manager got banned 3
Popular Post gba_51
The LBP account announced that it will be shutting down the servers for LBP3 to look into a number of issues regarding a good grief exploit that lead to some players getting banned, Steven Isbell said that the servers will be coming back but they said the same for LBP on PS3 & Vita so who knows, be careful when starting the game as there are many online trophies in it LBP Union report: https://www.lbpunion.com/post/breaking-lbp-community-members-falsely-suspended-from-psn/

sepheroithisgod
Not a good sign. They didn't bring them back on the PS3/Vita. I can't imagine this coming back, but hope it does. I wonder if this will happen to Dreams eventually.

Well, that's certainly one take. Nothing like a little scare mongering disguised as concern. I'm sure the devs learned a lot about the last exploit when they were able to salvage LBP3, I guess we will wait and see what happens. At least if it comes back up again, everyone will be more positive in the future and will be more optimistic about servers getting fixed when things like this happen. 4

They couldn't bring them back on those systems because Sony stopped allowing patches for games on them. Wasn't anything to do with the devs. EDIT: Just for the record, there were 2 threads posted for this around the same time, so I merged them together. Walt the Dog
Would be surprised if this took down the LBP3 (PS4) servers considering that game can still actively be played on PS5. Bringing down the PS3/Vita servers, while sad, made sense from a business perspective given those were legacy platforms with no real way to play those games on modern consoles. HusKy
Looks like a temporary hiccup to me. It's basically the last fully working LBP game so hopefully they don't kill it like this.
ConAir
For now I have no reason to believe that they won't fix it but at least I have dodged this bullet, because I started this game recently and have done the online Trophies first. Popular Post blue_blur_98
I don't think there's any reason we should be sounding the alarm bells about a potential server shutdown over this. The hacking incident that led to the end of online support for the legacy LittleBigPlanet games was way more severe than this - they were getting DDoSed 24/7 and people were using scripts to display hateful messages in-game. It was significantly worse than the issue we're facing with the game currently, which seems to be one random guy just screwing with people that's primarily affecting a select few notable members of the community. Additionally, the thing that really killed the old games off was the fact that PS3 and PS Vita games cannot be updated anymore. The security changes made to the servers required a patch to be issued, so they couldn't make those changes to the old games due to the aforementioned restriction. They weren't shut down just because they were old. The decision to cut these titles off from the servers had more to do with the platforms they're on rather than the games themselves. Even if LittleBigPlanet 3 is old, it's playable on PS5 via BC, and it seems to still have a pretty substantial playerbase that'd make it still worth it to support these servers with patches and security updates and the like, and PS4 games can obviously still recieve updates unlike PS3 and PS Vita titles. Cool your jets. LBP3 will be fine.
Phasmia
Does this mean no multiplayer trophies can be done? I have a few DLC trophies left and they need multiplayer I think
irishmonkey77
I literally just loaded up lbp3 for the first time and was trying to get the online trophies first. I've waited years to play and the same day I do, this happens. What are the odds lol. At least I didn't earn any single player trophies yet.

Especially LittleBigPlanet 3 due to its turbulent history, technically speaking. I mean, if it weren’t for Assassin’s Creed: Unity, an underwhelming entry to what is arguably a more successful franchise, the former would be known as 2014’s #1 most botched release almost certainly. It appears SIE forced Sumo Digital to move on from developing post-launch fixes/updates for the third mainline entry midway through 2017, leaving many bugs and glitches still plaguing the game unattended and as more time passes and staff continue to either blissfully ignore or not care about what’s going on in the community (aside from giving a team pick to 2-3 UGC levels per week and the simple fact the servers are open period), more exploits are unearthed by the game’s modding scene. This one person (who may or may not be like Jared from Subway) discovered an exploit that forced the LittleBigPlanet community closed shut for about half of 2021, of course not all are as destructive against the game’s community as he was or totally ignorant of Uncle Ben’s advice from the first of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (“With great power comes great responsibility.”) but just how many game/server breaches will it take for SIE to either properly act against abusive modders or just retire the last remaining online community server within the franchise (LittleBigPlanet 3)? yellowwindow7
last time something similar happen Sumo Digital killed LBP 1, 2 and 3 on the ps3. i bet they'll gonna do the same with this ps4 version of LBP3.
Popular Post TazDevilz1986
All other trophies are possible in local/extra controllers. Just you can't do the 3 online trophies in the main game. - Curator Create a playlist! - Let's go on an adventure! Play a Community Adventure - Adventurous Heart a Community Adventure These are also marked as unobtainable on PSNP+ for the PS3 version. Other trophies still getting unlocked like they should. If it's stays down, than you have no choice to buy more controllers, if you don't have them etc. Edited January 8 by TazDevilz1986

Mr_Tenno777
A shame what is happening to the series. I advise people to not play the game online at this moment.

pavelbagirov
Sony is poor company so probably will never fix this. Sony only can close servers and destroy theirs IP like Killzone/Socom/Motorstorm/Resistance/Order 1886 and more. They also closed near every game servers of their exclusive games, only few is alive at the moment. 2
imminent-file5
What's the point of making a clickbait title like "Might be the end for LBP3" when the tweet literally says "temporarily".

Because this exact issue happened but it ended up leaving the PS3 and Vita game servers dead even though they were "working on fixing them." With their bad track record on the subject, it's completely feasible to assume the servers will be shut for good. I am still bitter about the LBP 3 PS3 server too!
