Popular Post Slava
#19 - inFamous inFamous Platinum Trophy In late 2000's, superhero hype was on the rise. X-Men and Spider-Man trilogies filled the movie theaters with viewers and passed the baton to MCU, while gamers enjoyed the adaptations on their consoles with open world Spider-Man games leading the trend. One of the studios inspired by that trend was Sucker Punch. The combination of GTA/Spider-Man open world sandbox with a karma system (another trendy feature of that time) in their hands turned into inFamous. A game where a gruff-sounding man named Cole MacGrath gets the ability to channel and use electricity and starts to shoot bad, and sometimes good, guys in the face with lightining bolts. Did they succeed? I'd say yes, BUT (you'll see this word a lot) there's a lot of small flaws, insignificant on their own, which added up and soured my experience by the end of the second playthrough. Gameplay. Let's start with one of my favourite things the game offers - the set of powers. Cole can shoot electricity at the start, and then he gets more and more abilities: shock grenades, "force push, shield, and so on. At the same time, Cole is a good climber, he doesn't have fall damage, and he even learns how to grind rails and cables at high speeds and even hover in the air for a little bit which makes the traversal fun as well. Things get only weirder when Cole starts to do this: (actually somewhat satisfying, not gonna lie). BUT. The game mostly acts as a cover shooter without many covers. You'll spend most of the time getting into shootouts and trying not to catch many bullets from automatic firearm wielding gangs. The shield you unlock at around the middle part is not of much help, although it's useful against bigger guys. Also, the upgrades that depend on your karma don't feel that much different. Finally, my favourite power - summoning a lighning storm like Thor - appears at your disposal very late. I would've liked to fry people with it more. The game's world does feel alive. People react to you, ask for help, take photos or throw rocks at you depending on your karma. Cops have gunfights with bad dudes, pedestrians usually try to run and hide, but sometimes get involved too. There is friendly fire for NPC's which I always appreciate. BUT. It's mostly a grey mess. No cool memorable landmarks except for a literal tower of garbage and a big crater with rubble. BTW, Empire City, which is supposed to be Sucker Punch's take on Big Apple, their Liberty City if you will, barely reminds of New York. I want to focus at how you move around the city for a second. Cole's abilities make it fun to grind cables from building to building, you can be your own train if you want and use train tracks. BUT. 9/10 times, the process starts with spending 20 seconds to climb a wall, which gets tiring, even though there aren't many huge skyscrapers. Getting momentum and keeping it by hovering rarely pays off. The low maneuverability combined with the cable layout make it tough to chain the speed boosts together. It also can be a pain to be precise when, for example, you want to collect one of the blast shards scattered throughout the city. I found myself grabbing things I don't want to grab and vice versa. Sly-like stickiness wasn't as perfect as I'd hoped. Oh, and Cole's own electricity hurts him in water for some reason, so he can't swim ?. Another thing to note - the level structure. A lot of main missions happen in open world and utilize it well. BUT. At least a third of the game's main missions lead you into corridors like sewers, tunnels, bridges, with sewers being the most repetitive and boring ones by far. There are "Evil" and "Good" side missions you can choose to partake in. Interestingly, one of the main differences regarding side stuff has to do with the police. "Good Cole" usually helps cops, while "Evil Cole" commits ACAB ?. InFamous looks pretty good. The level of detail is high enough. The lack of loading screens is welcome. The art direction shines in comic-book stylized cutscenes. Enemy designs are decent too, and distinctive. BUT. The impression gets ruined by the performance sometimes dipping into lower 20's. It's especially jarring when you go to the edge of the map, look into the ocean, see 60 FPS, turn around, and notice the exact point the framerate halves itself to be capped at 30 again. The animations in all in-engine cutscenes look wooden. No mo-cap in sight. At first, I considered them another flaw until they grew on me a half dozen hours later. I think they add a bit of PS2 era charm. The story inFamous tells you is not that bad. It's a superhero (or supervillain) origin story. You get to see how Cole's friends react to his change as well as the people of Empire CIty. Meanwhile, the city itself is falling apart after a catastrophe and a new epidemic followed by an increase in crime. Some interesting bits of narrative are presented via TV's and give you an idea of how the government would act during such events (not well). The theme is continued by Zeke, Cole's best friend, who talks about America's bureaus and agencies in particular. The main story offers some plot twists and concludes with an interesting ending. BUT. Your choices make no difference. Besides the ending, and one of Cole's relationships, evil and good choices lead to the same result every time. Speaking of relatioships, they're not established very well, if at all. The game starts at the moment the bomb goes off in protagonist's hands and levels several blocks. Everything you know about Zeke and Trish, Cole's girlfriend, happens beyond that point. With the exception of a couple of dialogue lines, you learn nothing about their relationships before the blast. No flashbacks. While Zeke does give you some reasons to like him later, Trish hates you from the moment you take the first step on the streets of Empire City. As expected, I felt no attachment at all. The villains are a similar story. 2/3 of them are not interesting or very memorable. Not to mention another character - Moya, the FBI agent, who turns form a person you've never heard of before to your main quest giver in a matter of 2 minutes. Needless to add, my enjoyment was mixed with a fair share of disappointment. As I said in the beginning, by the end of the second playthrough, the flaws came to the surface of my mind and stayed there, souring my overall impressions. What about the trophies though? The trophy journey, as you can guess, lasts 2 playthroughs. The main source of trouble is of course the collectables. If you've heard 2 words "inFamous" and "trophies" in a same sentence, then "shards" is the most likely candidate for the third, and for good reason. The horror stories about collecting 349/350 blast shards couldn't have gotten more real when I arrived at the same number even with a printed map. It was probably the result of reloading a save file and forgetting I'd picked up one of them. Thankfully, I got the last shard after about 15 minutes of running around in panic. The second hardest thing was the set of stunts to complete. These are mostly combat moves you have to do in a certain way. I was stuck on two of them, especially "Right back at ya" which requires you to kill an enemy by returning their grenade with a "force push". Ultimately, a guide suggesting optimal missions to do them on helped. InFamous 2 is waiting for its turn. I'm excited to see what was improved (hopefully, a lot), and where the story goes from where we left off. For now, I'm back to playing PS1 games with Parasite Eve ?. Popular Post Dantes_994
LIFE IS STRANGE REMASTERED What if?Unlock all other trophies from Life is Strange™ Remastered PLAT NO.27 FUN: JAW AT FLOOR/10 DIFFICULTY 2/10 I bought this game on a whim. Had no clue what I was getting into, what the hook was or anything. But damn... what a ride that was! From the second Max puts her earphones to the second the credits rolled I was hooked! A story of good people trying their best in a harsh world while also taking care of one another. The music, the voice acting, the writing, the charm of every character we see... makes me so happy that I am a gamer. So happy to experience all of these games and learn from them. I just know I'll be going through that OST thinking about just how adorkable Max is, how fierce Chloe was, just how downright unselfish Warren was, how brave Joyce was, how kind WIlliam was. Just so many good people in one game. Makes me happy for all the people I have in my life. To whoever is reading this, I hope you take care of your people to Spoiler As for the ending... this was the first time I chose to sacrifice a loved one over the many in any game I have played. For one reason and one reason alone. Chloe had grown so much and became such a great, unselfish person, that depriving her of her sacrifice would have been the greatest insult I could give to a loved one. She had chosen to give her own life so that so many others could live. I believe that, not allowing a person we love to do that for others, would have been the most selfish action we could have taken. The fact that we adore that person must come second to the honest and truest wishes of those we love or they cannot grow. Which is why the whole game needed to happen, in the end. For Chloe to become such a great person so as to choose that and for Max to be strong enough to give that freedom to her best friend. WHich is one of the main reasons why Max truly one of the best characters in any medium ever. I love this game.

Popular Post insaneeeRob
What If? Life is Strange Finally I had the chance to play this game! Back in 2017 I got this game for free from ps plus but my surprise was that I could only episode 1... Now I got the playstation plus extra tier and instantly donwloaded this game (and all the LIS games). I really enjoyed the gameplay and it was very dark for what I was thinking. Chloe was a little bit annoying the entire game but meh I still have to see her face in LIS: Before the Storm lol.
Popular Post Valzentia
#174 - The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Difficulty: 3/10 Fun: 6/10 This is the other Walking Dead game; the one with far less renown than the Telltale game...but despite all the hate, it really isn't that bad. Generic, perhaps, but when you go through seas of shit you start getting far more accustomed to mediocre games, and this is just a mediocre game; not terrible, not brilliant either, but mindless fun. It will appeal to fans of the show and not much else...or people like me who picked it up from a random Best Buy that had it sitting in stock for a decade for cheap (by my standards, anyhow).
Popular Post RedRodriguez87
#458: Over Pac-ed Finding games like this nowadays seem to be harder and harder to do, but here's this one, and it was okay. The most interesting thing about it is how they implement the Pac-Man scoring system into a by the numbers platformer, which keeps it from being too dull. That is, for any of those going for the levels high score, which you do have to do for this Platinum. As for the story itself, it's based off that Saturday morning cartoon, and it was a weird direction to take Pac-Man. He is like Mickey and Mario where he works in general ways, not specific ones. Having him marketed towards kids is fine, giving him a kid voice is fine, but having him be set in high school at a young age is too restrictive and doesn't really fit for this character. Don't know if I'll do the first one. Didn't like this one enough to search and online buy it, so I would have to find it out in the wild (for a decent price).
Popular Post HDP_Reap
#22 and 23: Stray (PS4, PS5) Platinums in 3 Days, 17 Hours and 23 Hours, 16 minutes Rarities: 25.22% and 29.73%, Uncommon Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 This game was pretty fun and I’m astonished with how good the developers did with this. The cat is very cute and I had fun with how easy it was to platinum this game and how replayable it was. If it wasn’t replayable as easily, the platinum trophies would have been much more tedious. I enjoyed playing the game even on my fourth playthrough, and the only tedious parts I can figure exist was the first zurk pursuit without being caught and scratching in all chapters. Otherwise, the game was relatively mellow and fun. I enjoyed it quite a bit and I am astonished how well the developers did, being lesser known.

Hopefully you'll be like me when you get around to the second one, and see how everyone is right, and that it's not only better than the first, but easily the best in the series.
Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #289 Lords of the Fallen Lords and Judges Unlock all Trophies I liked it. It’s clunky, but playable. But the trophy requirement to replay it three times sucks. NG+ was a breeze until the final boss. Thankfully there’s a very easy glitch to make him stand there. I beat him already so who cares. I was tempted to replay the game a fourth time and I guess I did in part. I started a second save for the third plau through but after finding that glitch decided to try NG++ and it also was largely easy other than bosses taking forever to kill. So made more sense to just do NG++ instead of a new game where I struggled more. Guardian was the hardest one. did the glitch on the final boss again. I like how beating bosses in a certain way gets you a special weapon, exploration is almost good. In that there are a lot of neat secrets to find and different quests to discover but the level design is so frustrating. Especially the part before the final Lord. First play through was fun, others didn’t take long it’s not a long game but it’s just annoying after awhile. music was really good, despite the character models/faces the game looks very pretty being nearly 10 years old. But some of the corridors are way too damn small. combat was fun but I didn’t really grasp the weight mechanics in this. I had 16.5 of 50 and was still fat rolling. If weight doesn’t matter for that what is the point of endurance. magic is clunky to use and very limited, so cleric in particular doesn’t feel like a magic class. First game I stuck with a heavy build the whole time though. story I have no clue what was going on for the most part. The “different” endings don’t feel any different at all. Even the way the section plays out doesn’t matter, feels like remnants of a bigger idea that got cut for budget. so glad it’s over those extra ply throughs we’re very annoying. It can’t be understated. I’d say the game is pretty easy. I didn’t even really use potions until NG++ because the magic heal of the cleric worked fine and increased defense and reflected back damage. Despite a sizeable wind up. Three play throughs don’t need to be NG+ but it felt easier than a new game when I tried as rushing isn’t as easy without your gear and levels. edit; forgot the main game crashed about two times. The DLC however was constant, but I think it was the hammer which left poison AoE that helped kill it more, since changing weapons made it crash far less often there. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#653 - The Callisto Protocol Essentially a worse dead space with a melee system that felt incredibly clunky to use. Switching weapons is not responsive half the time, neither is the dodge. Enemies are way too spongy no matter how upgraded your weapons are and ammo is scarce until the last two chapters. Enemies also never really drop the loot you need. Too many times I was presented with immediate health pick ups when I was at full health. The games looks and sounds are solid at least. Enjoyment: 6.5 Difficulty: 5 (only because of the final boss, adds that pop up out of nowhere and insta kill you, if they happen to spawn next to you is a dick move)
Popular Post Biertje373
Platinum #76 Humanity WHO'S A GOOD BOY? Fun: 7.5/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Time: 15 hours and 30 minutes I always like to try out new games, when they revealed this to be a PS+ Extra game I was interested, I forgot that suck at puzzle games, but after a lot of weeks I was able to get through it. Let's start with the positives: + The music fits, it's strange and I wouldn't add it to the playlist but I enjoy the music. + Overal the puzzles are pretty cool. + I like that there are video's of all the challenges in the game if you get stuck. + Dog + I quite like the statistics, I liked to see how many people I've killed. + The bosses were fantastic. The less positive: - The seven wonders kind of annoyed me. - Sadly the levels that you had to plan ahead before the characters start walking, I disliked them the most. Aside from that, I am just not a puzzle game player, they're not bad just not for me, I liked this game but I was glad when it was over. And of course, the platinum screenshot:
Popular Post VLAAMINGK_N1
Platinum #293: Trials of the blood dragon ?️ Rarity: 2.35% Total hours played: 22 hours Difficulity: 8/10 Fun: 8/10 As someone who completed trials fusion and trials rising before, this has been another adventure into the genre which was already a very long time ago. Got to say I first avoided this one as it was combined with shooting and jumping as a person and not mainly focus on the driving. But got to say I'm happy I decided to try this one out, as it surprised me how much fun it was. This is a good mix of stunting and action at the same time. You won't get bored easily, the A+ times can be a bit tough, especially Clubbed to death... but other than this track, a bit practice does the job. The game ain't as hard as trials fusion, would compare it with trials rising. Good game, good maps, and a mix of chaos is what makes this game worth it. Totally worth to give it a shot for everyone who's up for a small challenge and ofcourse the people who love the genre including me ?️

The game is a lot of fun, and there's a trophy for petting the dog so you know you're gonna be in for a good time. I enjoyed the game a lot, so maybe I'll do the PS4 version someday but we shall see. If you liked Snes RPGs back in those days, you will love this one. I really enjoyed the story, the characters, the battle system... the music was great too! The platinum ask you to play the entire game on expert, which can be challenging in a few battles, but in a good way. This is one of those games where you feel that you earned the platinum. Highly recommended!
