Popular Post Neo_Zord
#93 Gotham Knights (PS5) - Heir to the Cowl After playing a bunch of story heavy games I decided to try this one too, heavily discounted and hopefully completed (as in no more DLC trophies please). The story is nothing to write home about but serviceable, the Heroic Assault raids are really time consuming if you're doing them solo, not hard per se, just full of enemies. Only one that might be harder is the final level, it's a glorified escort mission with buttons that need channeling (like Dota) to activate. I have literally no idea how Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood play since I never tried any character other than Batgirl and I can say is that she has some cool moves and skills, had fun using her bat shield. All in all I had fun, would recommend if you like the Arkham series (not story related at all) and want some more of that Gotham crime stopping pie. Just be prepared to play a lot of repetitive enemy arenas if you're aiming for 100% with DLC.
Popular Post StraightVege
A Trek to Remember #337 - Trek to Yomi June's most intriguing PlayStation Plus offering is an impressively cinematic, Edo period hack 'n slash with a supernatural twist, presented in black and white by developers who must surely be unabashed Kurosawa film lovers. Not the sort of game I'd expect from Flying Wild Hog, who previously made a variety of arcadey first-person shooters (and Evil West, which I intend to try someday), so it was a nice surprise to see their name in the opening splash screens. During this fateful trek, you'll gracefully wield the katana through 7 chapters as Hiroki, a reckless young samurai, whose foolhardy thirst for glory leads to the tragic ruination of his people at the hands of bloodthirsty bandits. As the title hints, much of the game's 5-hour playthrough takes place in the dreary Shinto afterlife of Yomi, which Hiroki must battle his way out of, Kratos style. Along the arduous, unsettling purgatorial journey, the player decides if Hiroki learns his lesson when all is said and done, via dialogue choices that result in one of three diverse endings: will he adhere to his dutiful vow as a samurai and return heroically to the living world, become consumed with vengeance against the leader of the raiders, or forever remain in the land of the dead by his beloved's side? Overall, the story was compelling enough for me to cut my way to the outcome, and I can recommend trying the optional English voice acting at least once for comedic value. Most of it is perfectly adequate, but some of the voices are delightfully bad, in the manner of those charming martial arts movie dubs. I'll take a pound of nuts! Usually, the game has you advancing from left to right or vice versa, like a side-scroller, but there are numerous screens where you'll move into the background and foreground, or climb upwards, so "2.5D gameplay" seems an apt descriptor here. Enemies often wait aside your path for an opportune moment to enter the fray, and there's even stretches where they'll rain arrows down on you from the background, forcing you to sprint from cover to cover. Reminiscent of a cross between Bushido Blade and Soulslikes, combat encounters occur frequently, and are composed of mostly realistic swordplay governed by a stamina meter, wherein blows that strike true deal tremendous damage to both you and your opponent. Effective utilization of Hiroki's array of parry techniques, short utilitarian combos, surprising quick-turn slashes, and ranged weapons (a bow and kunai) is paramount for survival, as Trek is not friendly to button mashers. Stay on the lookout for shrine checkpoints (basically the bonfire system), character upgrades to improve Hiroki's stats, and interesting collectible artifacts, detailing Shinto mythology. Disappointingly, much of the above paragraph with respect to battles only holds true for a brief time, until you unlock several overpowered stun abilities, and proceed to abuse them for the remainder of Trek's short duration. Stunned foes can be instantly killed with flashy finishers on the R1 button, which on top of being easy to land, also heal you, largely trivializing the game. It pains me to say this, because I do think the combat had potential for greatness, and it's beautifully portrayed (I'd assume mocapped). One aspect I quite appreciated is how various enemy types obviously differ in skill, with basic bandits overconfidently charging at you, sword held high, easily countered by a practiced swordsman like Hiroki. Conversely, more seasoned opponents, such as spearmen, will smartly keep the lethal samurai at a safe distance with their reach advantage. Furthermore, boss fights are slightly more exciting, since certain moves and parries regain their usefulness. Nevertheless, it ends up being a rather repetitive, one-note affair on the gameplay front—you run forward a few steps, dispatch another familiar group of enemies using the same old attacks, rinse and repeat to the finale. They clearly realized this was an issue, implementing several uninspired puzzles in the latter half to break things up, which require matching some kanji on a wheel with characters found stamped in the environment. Honestly, a toddler could solve these, and they were too little, too late anyway. Throughout my stay in the realm of Yomi, the phrase "all style, no substance" was at the forefront of my mind. In all fairness, though, masterful cinematography is where Trek unquestionably excels. Stunning scene composition, employing unexpected camera angles, creative perspectives peeking out through debris in the foreground, and striking contrast lighting made for countless stirring set pieces. I found the night sections in a ransacked village, lit by a breathtaking full moon with burning structures in the background, to be particularly memorable, and these gorgeously atmospheric moments alone are just about enough to make playing the game a worthwhile experience. The downside to this praiseworthy aesthetic commitment, however, is that it occasionally made melees difficult to read; threats can be obscured in a variety of ways, leading to cheap hits. Performance-wise, be aware that it can sometimes crash when loading the next stage, and I hated the stuttering when it attempted loading boss arenas, which often ate my controller inputs. Additionally, the game lacks a chapter select feature, thus it's extremely easy to overlook a collectible or screw up a trophy requirement. For safety, I'd advise creating save backups at the beginning of every chapter. Ultimately, Trek to Yomi is a game best played for a stimulating audiovisual feast. It has panache in spades, but searching the underworld for a deep, high-quality action game will likely result in discontent to mirror our angsty samurai protagonist. Still, unique little titles like these are exactly what I want from PS+. Edited June 13, 2023 by StraightVege

Popular Post Valzentia
#175 - The Voice (PS3) Difficulty: 3/10 Fun: 6/10 The big #175, and I wanted it to be an ultra rare. There are a lot of UR singing games on the PS3. Like...a lot. I have no idea what killed the trend, but this game, based upon The Voice, was one of the last gasps of the singing game genre before it just kind of stopped (and you know it's deader than dead when not even Ubisoft can revive it, considering they're single-handedly keeping dance games alive with Just Dance). It's not a bad game by all means...it just really wants to be competitive SingStar. The developers were more than capable, considering its Zoe Mode (the studio behind the Disney Sing It titles which aren't terrible if you enjoy the song selection), but they were better off just making a straight clone of those games because this game is somehow confused on what it wants to be. I like the platinum icon though.

Popular Post SoapMacTavish222
#507 Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot for PS5. Overall it was pretty decent. Side quests got a little boring. I got annoyed with constantly being attacked whenever flying around trying to complete other quests. The whole ten wishes when it takes 20 minutes to respawn the balls was the only thing that I was like "come on. It's my last trophy." It was a pretty straight forward and easy platinum though.
Popular Post Jermster_91
#135 Operation: Tango Operation: Tango marks the 3rd game that I have revisited after moving on that I eventually platinumed in the past week. The game is short enough that it won't take hours to do but some of the levels can be puzzling. There were several times when a YouTube video or the trophy guide didn't give the awnsers needed to move past a certain part of the game. Overall, if you are looking to have some fun with a friend or a loved on, this game certainly meets the criteria.
Popular Post HDP_Reap
#24: God of War: Ascension Platinum in 6 Months, 2 Weeks Rarity: 13.41%, Rare Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 As an avid enjoyer of God of War, I can definitely say this was probably the game I have enjoyed least that I have played, the only two I haven’t played being Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. Ascension did not need multiplayer, and thankfully PS Plus removed the multiplayer pass price for that stupid MP trophy. My first playthrough was on hard mode, and I have got to say that Ascension’s hard mode is not necessarily hard, just really really annoying at times. In places where there are groups of Satyrs and other enemies like Sirens and Gorgons, and ESPECIALLY in the Trial of Archimedes, they tend to wail on Kratos making it damn near impossible to get any hits in, much less use your amulet or oath stone. Even so, I eventually got through it, but I don’t remember Titan mode in GOW III annoying me as much as Ascension’s Hard Mode did. Being unable to skip cutscenes was also annoying as I had to replay some of the game to get some missed trophies. Santa Monica still did a good job with the story, incorporating the Furies into Kratos’ bond with Ares and providing more backstory, though you’d have to play GOW I to understand it. I enjoyed myself through most of the game, only feeling compelled to quit in areas like the Trial of Archimedes. It took me 6 months to plat this game probably because I forgot that I was playing it on thanksgiving, and didn’t remember it till now. Either way, I still think Ascension is a great installment in the God of War franchise, even if it is the weakest I have played myself.

Popular Post Cal
Vanquish (PS4) Platinum 71 I don't ever want to play the challenges in this game ever again, but I really like this game despite that Vanquish is a short but pretty sweet game that I think everyone should play but be warned about challenge 6 people really weren't joking about it. I lost count on how many times I failed the challenge, wave 1 to 3 were okay I had replay them so many times that I knew what I needed to do and what to focus on, then wave 4 and 5 just throw so much at you it becomes very overwhelming. But if you just keep going watch different tutorials on that part I think anyone can overcome it, well that and a bit of luck as well, I hope we get a sequel to this game some day.

Popular Post Valzentia
#177 - Amplitude Difficulty: 8.5/10 Fun: 8/10 I loved this game on the PS2. Once I found out it had a remake with trophies, I just had to grab it because the PS2 original was just that good. And outside of the soundtrack (the original PS2 soundtrack is far superior), i'm happy to report that this is just as good as the old one; and it's a platinum trophy i'm extremely proud to have because anything higher than Intermediate can go fuck itself. It's doable but goddamn if it doesn't take a lot of time to do (I practiced on both alts and on the PS2 version because gameplay wise they're exactly the same). The concept is simple: fly around in some spaceship looking thing and shoot little circles/squares/whatever to the rhythm of a song. It's simple but addictive. Very, very addictive. If this were a mobile game today then it would generate tons of money in microtransactions...and i'd be totally fine with that because this game is so awesome. Glad to have the platinum for it
Popular Post UnIvIIIrsum
Final Fantasy X HD I had forgot how slow older RPGs can be... Long scenes for attacks like ultima etc from enemies really have aged like milk. Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice Now have the EU and US platinum for this one . Disgaea 6 is still expensive so this stack was good enough for the time being.
Popular Post Robee2k2
#25 Assassin's Creed Odyssey Difficulty: 3/10 Rating / Enjoyment: 9/10 Total Time:95 hours (including all DLCs) PSNP Rarity: 28.39% (8.73% including all DLCs) I already played all of the Assassin's Creed games except for valhalla on pc before, being a big fan of the franchise, but now that I started trophy hunting i really wanted to have the full collection on my trophy list. I will probably play them in no order since I already know what happens in each game and i think i will play valhalla next even though I know it is a big commitment. I know a lot of people don't like the new trilogy because they went in a different direction from the older games, but i really like them and Odyssey was really fun.. at least the base game. When i got to the dlcs, Legacy of the First Blade and Fate of Atlantis I started skipping most of the cutscenes and conversations because they didn't really catch me like the base game did and that's why it only took me 95 hours to 100% instead of 110+.hours. It doesn't have a deep story like Origins had and it doesn't really have anything to do with assassin's to be honest, but it is still a really fun game and Ancient Greece is soo beautiful. If you haven't played the game because you don't know if you will like it or because it is time consuming to get the platinum, just forget about the trophies or play it on a different account and enjoy the base game because it is still a really fun experience. Popular Post DEI2EK
#95 Trails to Azure Liberator of Crossbell I now have every unique Kiseki plat that is available in english and have played every kiseki game to completion available in English. Can't wait to get my hands on hajimari and kuro. This is one of the best games in the series. Trophy wise was your typical trails list but of course this had another play for 100 hours trophy, which I was sitting at about 60ish when I was done with all trophies so I had to idle my PS5 for 40 hours. Thanks NISA for looking out for my electricity bill. At least this didn't have any trophy like Zero did where you are discouraged from leveling up. Now I'm working on FF7R because i haven't played it since I platted the PS4 version at launch and I got the hype bug from seeing the Rebirth trailer and FF XVI coming out in a few days.

Popular Post NullRay85
#70: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order (PS4) A New Hope Fallen Order was a great time and felt like you're experiencing an actual Star Wars film. You're a rebel jedi that's travelling from one planet to another in order to stop the empire's plans, along with your crew. Cal turned out to be an awesome main character and I can't wait to see more of in Jedi Survivor. The gameplay was solid as you get to chop enemies with your lightsaber and push/pull them with the force. The puzzle solving also made use of your abilities too which was neat. the only issue is that the combat feels shallow without a combo system as you're just mashing the same light and heavy attacks to beat mosy enemies. What sets the game back despite being really good were the non-stop tech issues. I know that I'm playing the PS4 version and the PS5 may be smoother, but 4 years after release and you still have instances of pop-in textures, enemy T-posing, and broken platforms that drop you to the bottom of the map, all of which is embarassing for a AAA game. Then again, it's EA. That being said, as a fan of Star Wars the game was a fun time.
