RESIDENT EVIL 6 - RESIDENT EVIL 6 Platinum Trophy

 

Has any game franchise done more with less than Resident Evil? It started as a somewhat interesting survival horror game on the PlayStation, complete with clunky controls and a Capcom trademarked story that was both hilariously convoluted and embarrassingly simple. From there it spawned a bunch of mediocre sequels and spin offs, peaked briefly with Resident Evil 4, before quickly devolving into the convoluted mess that is Resident Evil 6. The newest installment tries to be a mixture of both the original game and the more modern third person shooters of today, and ends up being the worst of every world.

 

The basic premise of Resident Evil 6 is that there are 4 separate campaigns to play through, allowing you to see the zombie apocolypse of the month from 4 different viewpoints. That's the theory anyway. In practice, the campaigns are all so short that about half the cutscenes in the game are shared between them. Another thing that sounded much better in theory was making the campaigns have a different feel, i.e. one being a more traditional survival horror, one being a more traditional third person shooter, etc. In practice, however, there is basically no difference between them all. Long time series mainstays such as Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, and Jill Valentine make their usual appearances. The most interesting character is Ada Wong, who hovers around all the other characters like Batman, protecting them when they find themselves in yet another perilous situation. Her campaign is supposed to tie all the stories together, but really all that happens is you reach the end, press a button, and get talked at for 5 minutes.

 

If the impenetrable story didn't already turn you off of Resident Evil 6, the gameplay certainly will. All the characters are so stiff to try and steer around the levels, frequently continuing to move even after you let go of the thumbstick. After all their years of zombie hunting they still haven't grasped the concept of moving while aiming, and there is a laughably poor attempt at a cover system. Capcom keeps these things in Resident Evil games for tradition I suppose, but games intentionally ignoring good design choices in favor of tradition just makes them all the more frustrating. This all happens, of course, when the game begrudgingly allows you to actually play it. Control is taken from the player so often so that the camera can pan to something the game is so proud of, or so that characters can talk at you over your headset, or so the game can throw one of it's hundreds of quick time events at you, that the actual time spent playing Resident Evil 6 is probably close to about 3 hours.

 

The quick time events deserve special mention, as they often come completely out of nowhere, and flash on the screen for about a quarter of a second. They really couldn't be implemented any worse. And if all this wasn't bad enough, the game thinks that ramping up the stakes is to simply throw the same giant monsters at you about 5 different times, often after you've convincingly killed them previously. The characters never seem to learn to completely obliterate a monster after they've downed it, always being content to just continue on their way. They never seem surprised or concerned when the same baddie later confronts them for the umpeenth time however, and if they're not concerned about it I just don't see why I should be either.

 

The best games are made when player and game co-exist harmoniously. The game allows the player to freely explore it's worlds, and the player uses the tools given to enjoy the journey. Resident Evil 6 hates it's players. During the brief moments when it remembers it's a game and not some cheaply made horror/comedy film, it gives players stiff and dated gameplay to fight the same monsters over and over and over again. The only way Resident Evil 6 is even remotely worth playing is in co-op mode with a friend, that way you can both laugh at the sheer awfulness of it all. Trying to play it solo will do nothing more than bring you to tears.

All medals of honor are mine finally! 2010 and Warfighter each had some trophies that weren't easy to get, but neither weren't too bad either. Those two required some time and coordination with partners, and dangerous ventures out into their hardest difficulties. But they were never too bad. Nowhere near this game at least. I can't recall much, but in my first playthrough, this game was pretty fun, a really good WWII game with great and a story that took the player through some memorable levels to play through. There were some glitches here and there, nothing that deterred from my enjoyment though. But hard difficulty wasn't near as fun as my first one was. The lack of checkpoints through any of the levels didn't help either. Admittedly, I've visited this game over time, hitting away at its hardest difficulty little by little, completing a level I was stuck on, getting stuck on another level, and going to another game, therefore putting this off for a few more months before coming back and repeating. I'm just really glad I finally managed to get past it after 2 years of having this game at 91% on my profile. A good game, and one I enjoyed. I just never want to go through Hard again.

there's a certain element of nostalgia attached to World of Final Fantasy, the way in which it revives series tropes almost verbatim and combines them with a classic cast of characters (look, there's Squall! And Celes! And Cloud!). But it's been done with skill and elegance. Once you've plugged your ears and resorted to subtitles, the characters quickly grow on you, and the rampant pace with which the (admittedly shallow) plot progresses means you're never stuck for places to explore and events to uncover. This is Final Fantasy boiled down to its core components with a touch of Pokémon thrown in for good measure—and it works beautifully.

 

World of Final Fantasy revolves around capturing "Mirages," beasts that roam the wild in packs or as individuals. Taking on the role of twin siblings Lann and Reynn, you catch Mirages by weakening them in battles and trapping them in Prisms (which are definitely not Pokéballs, no siree), after which they become tame and can be used to fight alongside you. Used often enough in battle, the Mirages' skills and experience is accumulated so that the they can "Transfigure" into bigger, stronger editions of themselves.

 

Capturing Mirages is combined with the usual dungeon crawling, item harvesting, talking to NPCs, exploration of towns and villages on a pseudo open-world map, and a turn-based battle system (Active Time Battle) full of glorious menus that will be familiar to anyone that's played a pre-PlayStation 2 Final Fantasy game. As a result, playing World of Final Fantasy for anyone old enough to know who Terra or Tifa are is a pure nostalgia trip. There's nothing particularly new or exciting.

 

 

Congratulations on the platinum (and trophy #5000!). Getting closer to #100

This DOES NOT mean I am going back to platinum all my games. Assassin's Creed 2 will forever stay at 94% and the Shadow of Colossus platinum can still go F--- itself.

I had a lot of fun with this game, PS2 game I never got to ever play until this past week. I knew of this game since forever, always seen that some old game magazines contained a demo disk for this game years ago during the PS2 era, but I never got to purchase any of the mags and get hold of the demo and try it out. I wish I had, as I would've had a blast with this game. Had no idea what type of this game exactly was, though. Was surprised when I discovered that it had stealth elements, and a similar combat system to something like the Batman games in the Arkham series. This game has combos you can use with specific weapons when battling enemies with enemies. Nothing too complex, or neither are there many combos to execute, really, but I still they were cool to pull off, especially with weapons like the axe and spear-like weapon, I thought it was satisfying. I thought it was funny with how easy it was to take out enemies (who had no armor.)
There could be big, strong guys with gigantic axes or other sorts of weapons, but as long as they weren't wearing armor, you could immediately take them out by aiming and shooting an arrow through their head. And even if they had armor, you could pierce your spear-like weapon right through them with a combo, and kill them quickly, or overpower enemies with the axe really quick, by slicing off their torso, head, and/or legs. I guess these big, strong armored guys were a bit tad tough to take out with just your sword during the first levels, but once you get hold of new weapons on later levels, and combo their asses with your newly acquired weapons, it's quite easily and satisfactory to take them down with different execution styles, and being able to fight even more enemies at once.

Really neat game, I wish it was longer though, and I was a bit disappointed with the end. It carried on for too long, and it was getting annoying due to how many enemies you had to go through, just to reach the "boss", and not even getting to attack him, in-game anyways. But I found out there's a sequel I'll definitely be getting it.

To obtain the plat was easy. Just gotta be aware of challenges you gotta complete throughout each level in the single-player. They're pretty easy to accomplish if you do know what to do. This game actually turned out to be one of my favorite PS2 games, for as short and simple as it was. Hoping the sequel is just as fun, and even more unique. This game was quite ambitious, I'm sad that I never got to play this game back in this day.

Mastered the Jungle

 

​I really enjoyed this game, I played through the story mode twice but the co-op mode once (since the online is pretty much dead). The story line and gameplay was great which made collecting the collectables a less of a tedious experience. The co-op mode requires a bit of endurance to play through since the levels are really long with no save option. If you're someone who likes open world games, I would definitely recommend this game.

My favourite game so far this year. Everything was a big improvement of the last game, which was very good as well. Also, i was very glad that i didn't experienced any trophy glitches.

 

As for the score attack mode, it was a challenging task, but nothing too difficult. Just keep unlimited poison/explosive arrows (i mean the card) for the most difficult levels with many enemies and you shall be fine.

A very easy and hardly "no long ass grind" trophies in this WWE platinum run. I have to say I did enjoy getting all the trophies. The trophy that took the longest to get was the one and only online trophy "100 bouts", which is play hundred matches online. The wrestler specific trophies were fun like "Phenom vs. Scorpion" (Undertaker vs. Sting), "Welcome to the club" (win with AJ Styles) and of course "Suplex City" (perform 10 suplexes on 1 match). I can finally say this platinum can.....REST IN PEACE.

Platinum #48- Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL PS3.  Rating: 7/10.

I've got to say that I've been pretty interested in this game for a while since I liked a lot of Cartoon Network shows before, but never did acquire it until recently when it was 99 cents on the PSN store. I've got to say at that price, it definitely is a good game that should be bought. Anyways, I liked the game well enough, although there were some stuff that I wished could have been in the game. First of all, the gameplay is pretty similar to brawler games like Super Smash Bros or PlayStation All Stars, but it controls decent enough, I felt like they were responsive and fluid enough. I'll admit, the roster of characters was pretty small and felt underwhelming since there were a lot of good characters from shows that weren't in game like Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Finn and Jake, Mordecai and Rigby, etc. But my favorite characters were Samurai Jack, Aku, The Scotsman and Ben 10, both the young and older counterpart. (As you can tell, I'm a Samurai Jack fan.) Samurai Jack definitely controlled pretty well, I loved using him. The story mode in the game isn't bad, I liked the announcer well enough, but I don't get why did the characters only say their names as if they were Pokémon, haha. But the story mode was interesting, so that made up for it. I also will say that the stages in game looked decent enough, I liked the Samurai Jack themed ones a lot. I also liked the idea of the assists, too bad they were RNG though since it made getting some trophies take a while. :/ My favorite ones were Irwin's grandfather from Billy and Mandy dancing to disco music and Eduardo from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends running, I liked those two the most.

Anyways, trophy-wise, I'd say this was a 3/10 in terms of difficulty. It's not that hard of a list, although the trophies are pretty fun to go after in my opinion like the one where you have to activate the Scotman's PTE along with Peppermint Larry's assist, that was a funny result. I mostly had problems with taking out Aku without dying, took me quite a few tries since I managed to keep sliding off the platform or getting killed. And the synergy assist trophies took me a while, haha. Everything else was simple enough, although beating the level in the Kids Next Door theme in 5 minutes or less took me like 10 tries, since I managed to forget what buttons to activate doors with Numbah One's gumball pistol.

Overall, I had a fun time with the game and it was nice playing as some of my favorite Cartoon Network characters. The one on PS4 has captured my attention, might try that at some point. Got to say this was a fun platinum to hunt, it's making me want to play PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale now, haha.

Well, I played this less about six months after I finished Far Cry 4 and I totally understand what people mean when they call FC4 Far Cry 3.5. In terms of gameplay these two games are very similar. Which is a good thing, because Far Cry 3 is a really good game. I remember when I played it for the first time; it actually took me completely by surprise. I hadn't heard much about it before it released, and my expectations were almost non-existent (after playing the, in my opinion, dreadful predecessor just a year or so earlier). Exploring in this game is really fun - there are all sorts of caves, ruins and quite beautiful views to discover all over the place, and the gunplay is really good. You have quite the arsenal of all different kinds of guns at your disposal, so overtaking the enemy outposts in this game is pure fun. The story is a pretty straight forward revenge story that offers generic missions and a fairly memorable antagonist. The real enjoyment in this game lies in exploring and free-roaming.

Both of these games were amazing. I never played the original versions and I'm happy I played the Redux versions instead. Some quite nasty trophies were removed, you see, among others the "no kills playthrough". The trophy list for these two games are not very difficult. These games are linear FPS games in a very interesting setting. They take place in the metro system in Moscow after a nuclear war destroyed the world, and each metro station turned into autonomous states governing after different sets of principles - nazi and communist stations among others. You play as Artyom in both games as he journeys through the metro system and sometimes above ground in the desolate Moscow fighting mutants and people. I really enjoyed the feeling of walking around in the tunnels alone, especially in Metro 2033, for once I played Last Light I had become accustomed to it. It just didn't feel as nerve-wrecking as it did in 2033, where the sounds of mutants actually were frightening. Nevertheless both of these games were really good and I had a great time playing through them both. Also, playing Last Light right after 2033 was just fine. They both play very similarly so there's no adapting to anything new.
