I watched Devilman Crybaby, 10 episodes over the course of 2 days. I was ok, definitely my least favorite Masaaki Yuasa anime. I has some beautiful, and some meaningful moments, but overall this is a pretty forgettable anime, probably its over the top violence is all that really makes it memorable to many. Anime with similar themes that are way better: Parasyte, Shiki.

Golden Boy (ep. 1-4)

Rewatched the first 4 episodes of this 90's classic. Love the old character design and the art style. The animation aged well, and looks amazing. It's much hornier than I remembered it being, but that's fine. Episode 4 is still my favourite ?.

Hellsing Ultimate (ep. 1-2)

7333l.jpg

Watched a couple of episodes with my friend. He's into vampire stuff, I'm not, so I didn't enjoy it as much. A bit too many static shots instead of fully animated ones for my liking. Alucard is hella overpowered, all fights in the first episodes start with him taking all the damage, and end with him using 10% of his power to destroy the enemy. I like his design and his charisma though. Nice voice acting too. If you like vampires, rivers of blood, and overpowered characters, you'll probably enjoy it.

KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! (ep. 1-3)

77831l.jpg

The first episodes were alright. I've never really watched any Isekai anime or read manga of this sub-genre. That said, I know enough about it to understand the parodies and jokes about the tropes in Konosuba. Some of them were funny, some fell flat. I like that all characters are kind of useless each in their own way. Not much else stood out for me so far. I'll probably finish the first season and try to see why people like it so much.

No access to my PlayStation this last week ? (Was on holiday).

I brought a few blu-rays from home but only watched:

1) Lost Butterfly, or rather the second movie of fate stay night, heaven's feel. (Haven’t opened the third movie yet, I keep putting it off ??).

vK32A4Y.jpg

2) Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions (season 1, 2 and the movie), slow in places, particularly season 2, but I’m a sucker for romance and/or slice of life stories ??.

P.S, I will watch that third fate movie (Spring Song) before Christmas ?, or during Spring ?.

Given: Uragawa no Sonzai (OVA, 2021)

Enjoyment: 9/10

More Given is always a nice thing, especially when it focuses on Mafuyu and Ritsuka. It's always great to hear Mafuyu's beautiful singing voice as well! <3

With Shaman King 2021 finally finished on Netflix... I need something to watch while I wait for Edens Zero S2 and the next Shaman King anime (sequel or whatever).

So I ended up deciding to watch Dragon Pilot. It's short so that ended up being one of the key factors. I can't really say much about it yet as I've only seen one ep.

2x1_NSwitch_MadeInAbyssBinaryStarFallingWatched Made in Abyss because I thought it would be about exploration and adventures. Well there was no exploration and adventures. Like, at all. The anime is centered around torture porn of children and gore, that's the whole point of it. That and weird pedo bait scenes with naked preteen girls, lots and lots of pee references and boners when a kid touches a furry.

If I was a teenager I'd find this shocking and/or funny. Now it's just meh, waste of an interesting concept for the sake of shock value that's more cringe than shocking.

finished Bleach, all of it, 366/366 episodes, 2/2 specials, 4/4 movies and Burn The Witch 3/3

in preparation for the return

the anime stands the test of time, I give it a 9+/10 overall, the OST is 10/10, the best I've heard in anime, voice acting is top, characters, art design, action, everything surprised me how good it remains all the way from 2004 to today

this is now the longest anime I've seen 100%, and my favorite out of all the long running anime

the only negatives I can think about are the fact that there are plenty of censored elements for no reason from the manga and that the Arrancar arc has some lose threads in places

bur on the whole, it was an amazing experience to see it all in the past few months, I never felt bored in the canon episodes, and I'm hyped for Bleach Blood War now

Have you ever watched something so weird... so bizzare... that it's so cool in anime form?

Anime-Akiba-Meido-Sensou-Visual-1.jpg

If not, then the answer is Akiba Maid War. Believe me, you will not be ready for its incredible first episode. Even the intro music is so dope! B)

Bubblegum Crisis

Bubblegum Crisis

Watched: Ep 1-8 (complete)

Enjoyment: 10/10

Here's an anime I spent watching during the past few days. Before I discuss it any further, let me just explain something quickly.

I've known about this series since 2008, but here's the thing. I've only heard a few songs from videos I saw back then. However, I never knew where they were from, because while the name of the songs were credited at the end of each video, the guy never bothered to mention where exactly they were from. I'd show one of them, but all of them are either deleted or marked as private videos. That sucks. I enjoyed watching them a lot. I've also seen the AMV which had the song Mysterious Night playing and I enjoyed that one. Sadly, that one has been deleted as well.

It wasn't until 2015 when I finally learned what show the songs I heard were from. Once I did, slowly I planned to start watching this. I was going to watch it from the "dark sites", but when I read a random comment somewhere which said that there's a region free Blu-ray available a long time ago, I decided to buy that and watch it legally. It took me long enough to buy it and it also cost me a lot of money to get it (I don't live in the US, that's why), but with multiple subtitle options, I'd say it was worth it.

Now that I've got the introduction out of the way, what can I say about the show itself? Only one thing: it's brilliant. The animation, which is pure 80's, looks great. I haven't watched too many shows from that era, so watching something like that is a nice change of pace. I also like the character design, especially the Boomer robots and the combat suits the Knight Sabers wear. Not to mention, the fight scenes are awesome, since the Boomers are always different in every fight. Also, the fact there's no OP or ED animations in any of the episodes (one could count Episode 8) makes it a bit of a special case.

However, there is one thing that stands out and it's obviously the music. My God, does it sound great, even today. Despite that I had heard the music from the videos back then, I still enjoyed listening to them. There's the classic Konya wa Hurricane, but the songs such as Mad Machine and Mysterious Night are also my favorites. By the time I managed to finish this, I had to watch the beginning and the ending part of the first episode, just so I could say goodbye to this show, while listening to Konya wa Hurricane and another favorite of mine, Mr. Dandy. The latter one gets me every time.

As for the negatives, there's one thing I have to say and I'm pretty sure anyone who has watched this knows what I'm about to say. It's unfinished. It was supposed to be 13 episodes long, but because the studios making it had legal problems, the last 5 episodes were cancelled and it ended up being 8 episodes long instead. It's a shame and I really had hoped to see how things would go from that point onward.

So yeah, it took me several years to watch it and despite that it never had a proper ending, it was totally worth it. I might watch the so-called sequel series someday, even though a few articles I've read say the same thing and I quote one of them: "fans pretend it doesn't exist". I also don't wish that they'd do a remake or something of this series, just so they can conclude the story properly, as it wouldn't do any good for its legacy.

My Hero Academia Season 4

Boku no Hero Academia 4th Season

Watched: Ep 1-25 (complete)

Enjoyment: 9/10

More than a year after getting the platinum from My Hero One's Justice 2, I finally managed to get myself to watch this season, which the game focuses on. I've also read the manga past that point a while ago, so anything I've seen in the anime was clear for me. That being said, I can't say it was a waste of time. At least the last few episodes offered something that the game didn't, although a certain duo did end up being in the game's roster. I'm sure you know which characters I'm referring to. Other than that, there's not much else to say. I'll watch S5, as well as the 3rd movie, someday. Right now, I need a break from this for a while. Watching several episodes per day takes its toll.

Lycoris Recoil

Watched: Ep 1-13 (complete)
Enjoyment: 10/10

If I have to name my favorite series from Summer 2022, it's this. At first, I didn't know what to expect, but after the first few episodes, I started to enjoy it more and more. Anticipating each episode was a highlight of the week and I was never disappointed. So many great and fun moments. I'm going to miss this.

Although I finished this when it first aired, I'm posting this now since I recently managed to finish watching the German dub (been into those lately) and to be honest, it was worth my time. Maybe someday I'll watch the English dub as well, but for now, the German dub works for me.

PS. Chisato is the best girl.

Next up, something I've been planning to finish for a long time. I won't say the name, but I'll say it's another music themed anime and it's something I'm going to enjoy a lot. After that, something dark themed since the Halloween is around the corner.

Chainsaw Man (episodes 1-3)

126216l.jpg

Man, I love seeing all of this animated. First time watching an adaptation of a manga I've read (6/11 volumes), and I'm so happy how it turned out so far. Mappa is killing it. Looks amazing, sounds great, the music is awesome. I like the Japanese VA's too. They fit so well, including Makima whose voice I actually imagined differently. They've changed very little plot-wise in the beginning episodes, nothing but small improvements so far. WIth this pace and the number of episodes, I think I know where the season is going to conclude in terms of the story arcs. Can't wait to see the rest.

The opening and the endings (yes, multiple) deserve a special credit because they're outstanding. Firstly, the opening which fits so much stuff. You've probably seen some videos showing all the movie references, but there's so much more to it. It's a collection of hints for the story, it's a metaphor, it's a love letter to the manga fans, and it's a great showcase of the animators' talent. Each episode has it's own ending, so different song and animation every time. They've all been amazing too, I can't help but smile when I hear Maximum The Hormone shred harder than they did back in the season 2 of Death Note. The visuals are wild as well.

Heard some negative opinions about the use of CGI after episode 1. IMO, this is the best example of inclusion of 3D animation in an anime I've seen yet. The team doesn't rely too much on it, they're mixing it with traditional 2D shot by shot, and the quality itself is pretty high. In episode 3 it's even better.

One more thing I want to add: beware of spoilers. The manga is very popular, and the spoilers are everywhere. Be careful when you read the comments anywhere.
