Cozy Grove  All 71 Trophies  1st December 2022 • Completed in 7 months, 3 weeks

 

I only needed one trophy left for the 100%: play in all four seasons. Since I don't like to mess with my console's clock, I patiently waited for December. Although I doubt it will, I hope the game receives more seasonal updates with added trophies to give me an excuse to play everyday again. Fun fact: this was my most played game this year, according to the wrap-up, at 156 hours. Highly recommend this one to all my cozy gamers out there. 

 

inFamous: Second Son  All 48 Trophies  4th December 2022 • Platinum in 6 years, 10 months

 

My only thoughts at the moment: not my favorite inFamous game, but the only one I've completed. (That's how accessible the trophy list is.) Seems like I need to rectify that ASAP. 

 

Broken Age  All 45 Trophies  12th December 2022 • Platinum in 7 years, 2 months

 

Happy to have this PS+ game finally out of the backlog. I enjoyed the trophy list, minus the one-hour speedrun, but I ended up finishing it with eight minutes to spare. I recommend using a guide when going for it, especially some of the puzzles. 

 

And with that, I've managed to keep my 2022 backlog streak for the first time! I'm unsure if I'll be able to do it again next year, but here's to hoping.

As promised, the Vita cleanup continued, with two more games,

 

Uncharted: Golden Abyss  All 56 Trophies  3rd December 2022 • Platinum in 7 years, 10 months

 

Assassin's Creed III Liberation  All 45 Trophies  6th December 2022 • Platinum with missing timestamps

 

Assassin's Creed was cursed with missing timestamps (tbh the whole game is cursed), but first trophy is from 3rd June 2016, so I completed in 6 years, 6 months. I was surprised by how well Uncharted GA held up, and while I didn't really have any connection to the new side characters introduced in the game it's a solid gameplay experience. It's a decent trophy list as well, the only downside being a few hours of post-game grinding for bounties and weapon kills. ON THE OTHER HAND.... this Assassin's Creed game. I'd forgotten just how janky the climbing could be in the early assassins creed games. I'm not sure if it was particularly bad in this one, but so often Aveline would just randomly jump to her death. Then there's the terrible integration of the external cameras into the game. My hatred towards the end was probably irrational, because all the little problems just piled up >:(

 

With these two done I've pretty much finished all the Vita games I would play for this event, and I've also finished a backlog streak for the first time! I'm having a casual think about a streak next year, I think I might at least attempt it, but I'm not sure if I'd make it to the end again.

I have been doing backlog cleanup for a bit now, though I would join some events so I have an excuse to write an essay about each game I do.

Have some backlog games planned until the end of the year, but will go hard at my old VR backlog as soon as January hits.

I just got my third and maybe final game done for this month, through another event I was tasked with finishing Going Under, well lucky for me my first trophy for that age was 7 months ago!

P.S: Let me know if I have filled out the form right, I marked the first game as 100% and Platinum since that is how it was and for Among Us I needed to do the new dlc for the 100% so marked it as DLC, wasn't sure if should put 100% or DLC

 

EDIT! I got a forth game done! While looking through my games I remembered I hadn't completed Flow, which was part of the Journey Collectors Edition, Since I've already completed Journey and Flower I thought it might be best to finally get that one out of the way too!

It's an overused trope, but reflect on the backlog progress this year:

Did you cross off any time consuming or skill based games that have haunted you for years? What was your proudest completion? 

 

What game was your white whale this year? The one that eluded completion for another year, but it's at the top of your list to finish.

 

Any unusual milestones reached? Like completing a backlog game for your 100th platinum, or completing a game for every console owned.

 

 

My gaming year wasn't as productive as previous years to reflect on these entirely, but I can always try to carve out more time in 2023. I was proud to put in a couple DLC completions to one of my favorite games: Dragon Age Origins. I've used every save slot revisiting this title over the years, & I still haven't been able to 100%. But it's not the white whale I plan to target next year. That's reserved for the all time consuming, skill/luck based gem known as Monster Hunter: Iceborne. I've got the platinum in World & I know I can do the same with Iceborne, it's just a matter of sticking with the game long enough. If I leave the game for a month, my skills get rusty, but I'm resolved to put in a little practice time before that happens again. Send gold Crown luck my way & have a Happy New Year!

Well it seems I was able to break out ONE MORE Platinum before the new year came in.

 

My 5th game for this month is Goat Simulator, I didn't have any plans to play this but a friend of mine recently posted a load of memes on our discord and one of them was the screaming goat, made me think to myself why don't I give that a go, I didn't think I'd have it completed until tomorrow at the earliest since the flappy goat trophy is horrible but here we go!

As for reflecting on my completion this year...hmm.

 

If I had to say my proudest completion this year than that had to go to two games, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Amnesia Collection. Killzone was the first game I ever got a trophy for and was always scared to go back to it because I suck at FPS multiplayer games but with the server shut down it didn't leave me any choice, Amnesia was always the game I said i'd do but then would put off every time. Most time consuming games was 100% Azur Lane and Fate/Extella, the amount of grinding required to finish those games were unreal and the reason why Azur Lane was the only game I finished in September.

 

While I might not finish as many backlog games as I did this year (Maybe) I would like to be put in for the Backlog Streak for next year and like Gretchen I also let Monster Hunter slip through my fingers, next year I will be trying to get that and Iceborne finished, along with the whole Soulsborne backlog I have. My challenge for next year is to also stick with finishing Kingdom Hearts which is actually my white whale! Damn You Heartless!!

Hi everyone! A very last minute completion for me. Completed the dlc for Crash Bandicoot Warped which brings it to 100%. It was a bit frustrating getting a hold of the controls after all this time. But was able to get it after some hours.    I will definitely be joining again next year. Does the streak challenge mean, that you have to complete something every month? Yeah, long as you get one game done a month it counts

The streak challenge is a little stricter than average as one unique game a month must be completed between January- December. Completion parameters below (no exceptions or repeats permitted):
The game's platinum must be earned
OR
100% a non platinum game
OR
100% a game you've already earned the platinum for, every single DLC pack completed.

To reflect on the year... there weren't games that I needed a lot of time for, or that I needed to be skillful in (just stubborn haha). But I'm really glad I got some old games completed, especially Volume and Uncharted: Golden Abyss as I started them over 7 years ago. I don't have a white whale, but I think a big aim for next year will be to make The Last of Us Remastered my 50th platinum. I'd dismissed it as being too difficult for me to platinum, but I recently tried Survivor difficulty and found it to be relatively straightforward. Now I've completed the Survivor playthrough, it's in my sights as a plat I can definitely get. It's also probably a good idea to finish the multiplayer before the new Factions game releases.

No new completions this month, just wanted to say I’m opting out of the backlog streak challenge for 2023. I’ll still be playing games from the backlog, I just don’t want to be anxious confined as much as I felt I was this year. As for my 2022 reflections: the most difficult backlog games I completed this year were The Last of Us Remastered and Fall Guys. The former was my previous white whale, one I proudly overcame for the plat #100 milestone. Finally beating the game on Grounded+ is probably my best moment in trophy hunting, at least in the top three. Fall Guys was slightly more difficult, only for winning races. Trying to win skill-based rounds when I hadn’t played in months was.. un-fun, to say the least. Thankfully, the Sweet Thieves LTM made Infallible doable.

Hey all, I've been MIA for the last few months but want to continue on in 2023. I got a decent amount completed last year, not everything on my list but enough to keep me happy. I'm gonna need to update my list with something doable for this year. I'll get on that today.

Didn't get a whole lot done this year (in general for gaming, really), so it was a good time to take a bit of a break. Did manage to get the platinum for Red Alert 3 and Stardew Valley thanks to its update, and never really thought I'd finish either - that was pretty cool.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood threw a bit of a wrench in my plans, kind of hard to go for what's still available if the servers weirdly remained up. Grindy PvP, no thank you...

Managed to improve some health things this year, which should make games I was stuck on more reasonable to give a second try, Feeling pretty determined to cross some things off, so hopefully that'll mean a nice reduced "get back to it" list a year from now!

 

Intend to participate next year, but not aiming for a streak - I do too much "oh, but that should be fast and/or easy, I should save that for a month I'm short on time" and want to see if just blitzing whatever I'm in the mood for works out better.
