Xylobe
@Sword That crown grind is hellish for sure. I realize this isn't helpful if you're determined to get both plats back to back, but for sanity I'd suggest at least wrapping up World's plat before you continue hunting Iceborne crowns, maybe taking a break in the interim. I had like nine months between the two because I ended up saving Iceborne for a later milestone; maybe you could go for something like World at 50 and Iceborne at 75?

Not really saying that is a good thing though because I finished it due to being so appalled by the game that I just skipped the majority of it. Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation is the worst VN I've played on PSN. Not the worst of all, because Steam sure has some absolute trash on it, but I expect VNs on PSN to have some redeeming value to them, this one just was appalling and boring.
Popular Post Niilismo
I finally finished A+'ing every level in Super Meat Boy. I'd been stuck on 7-19X for a couple of days, turns out the level was glitched and impossible to beat. Closing and relaunching the game fixed the issue. I also got started on the no death trophies. Wood Boy was trivial, Squirrel Boy took me just under 2 hours. I expect the hardest ones will require dozens of hours of practice.
Static_Rook
23 hours ago, Sword said: TL,DR: Another week goes by with peanuts to show for trophy progress due to a RNG experience that has boiled over my frustration into the realm of pure anger. Went to bed last night absolutely frustrated and woke up today with this sarcastic attitude of "welcome to another day of rolling the dice to see if I can get a single crown". Lord help me. The last platinum trophy I earned was over 3 months ago now. I wanted a memorable #50 and Monster Hunter World is going to be a memorable one alright... for all the wrong reasons, explained below. <snip> I've been there in MHW. It just sucks, there's no other way to say it. I'm at 600+ hours between World and Iceborne and I still need 8 more crowns in World for the plat. Iceborne, I'm not even thinking about yet. My unheeded advice: Take a break for a day or two (or longer!) and then limit yourself to a certain number of hunts or amount of time each day. That helped me get over my burn out and eventually get back to actively crown hunting again. That's when I went from needing 20 crowns down to 8. If you really wanted to cut down on the loading times, there's also the option of swapping out the PS4's hard disk for an SSD. I did it on my Pro last January and the difference it makes in MHW is crazy. Instead of minutes of loading, it's only a few seconds. I used to accept a mission at the board, then go eat and setup my equipment because it took so long to load. After swapping, the missions show as Ready! almost immediately. And loading into the actual world only takes a few seconds, too. With the PS5 out now it probably doesn't make much sense to dump $100-$150 into making a PS4 run better, but it's not a bad idea if you don't plan on getting a PS5 anytime soon. Doesn't seem to make nearly as much difference for most other games, but it's worth it for MHW alone.
Popular Post Sword
@Squirlruler Thanks. It's been rough and maybe I shouldn't have used this thread as a place to rant, but it has been frustrating the past few days. I ended up moving onto Silver Rathalos and nabbed its mini-gold crown last night. I'll return back to Namielle later. Needless to say just earning a crown made my mood increase by 100% again. lol @Xylobe Yeah I'm basically done with MHW (base game). I have every crown finished for every monster except Kirin, which I am saving to pop the double plat. I have 1 monster left to max out the research for and then I have to hunt some tempered monsters (easy), so the cleanup there didn't bother me. I've also been trying to start doing a thing where I get the plats for a series back to back on the same day so they all appear in order on my profile, so that's why I wasn't saving MHW: Iceborne for a #75 cause I wanted to do them both at the same time. Additionally, I'm currently looking at making Tales of Arise my #75 or #100 (my most anticipated game since I first heard about it, so that one will 100% be a milestone plat). I also have some cleanup to do in MHW: Iceborne but I don't anticipate that to be hard at all. @Static_Rook Yeah I'll be getting a PS5 sometime this year or next year. Thought about the SSD thing but didn't wanna invest in something that I'll just not use once I get my PS5 (thanks to PS4 backwards compatibility letting me play my entire PS4 library). Since MHW is the only game I've ever had this problem with (long loading times that somehow annoy me) I'll just brute force it till the end. I've made it this far, I can make it awhile longer yet. @Niilismo Super Meat Boy is insane of a game to play. I'm still struggling with that one in the intermediate times. Worthy completion for sure if you ever finish it. Most of the no death runs are actually fair, until you get to Cotton Alley/Zombie Boy. Those ones for me tip the scales into the realm of unfairness imo due to how perfect some of the levels need to be (where no other level in the game requires as much precision as a majority of the Cotton Alley ones do for the no-death). Also the fans.. and the salt shaker level (7-9x I think) is just brutal.

I can really feel myself improve at the game as I practice, which is quite rewarding. It'll probably take me a good while, but that's fine. After spending a year and a half on one level in Dustforce, I don't really mind if SMB takes me a few months.

Popular Post gladiatorrrrrrr
Monday update I had a good and a bad week in gaming. For the bad part read the piece on LOTR; War in the North. The good news: for the first time in a long time I have less than 4,000 unearned trophies! Killzone Mercenary (PSVita) Have finished all trophies except for Millionaire Earn 1,000,000 Vektan dollars and Blood Bank Kill 10,000 enemies. First one is not so bad, the second one is...ahum grindy? Still need around 4,500 kills......decided to do it in bursts by replaying missions (gives me around 110 kills per play through) otherwise I would go insane. The Division 2 (PS4) Finished two DLC's; ' The Pentagon ' and ' Coney Island '. Not too hard and fun to do. Lord of the Rings: War in the North (PS3) Here comes the bad news. I really need to rant on this game. game glitched on my heroic run. It just will not give me the next objective (a certain boss fight in chapter 6). I reloaded my save file , which you can only do once every 24 hours...really why did you do that developers? . Gave it a second try and now I cannot even progress out of chapter 5. I need to figure out how to solve it as I don't want to give up on it (yet) . It did cost me however a lot of time. Shinobodi 2 (PSVita) On Hold Star Wars Battlefront II (PS4) On hold Current Status: Plans for next week: - Progress on The Division 2 DLC (PS4) - Finish Killzone Mercenary (PSVita) - Find a solution for the glitch and finish LOTR; War in the North (PS3)

Been chipping away at Yakuza 0 for like the past month and I’m over half way done, throw a little U.Marvel vs Capcom 3 in there as well and you can see why I’m making only a tiny progress at best. Hoping to score both plats by the end of May while I work on other projects. Trust me both these games are major thorn in any completoniost side. Popular Post lu_keh212
Update 3 FIFA19 Finally Platted FIFA19. Probably one of the more challenging experiences I have had, sadly now the PS5 has an hours tracked feature I can see it took me 178 Hours. Boosting sessions were needed for some of the now inactive online modes. Fallen Order Finished off the story and found all collectibles for the 100%. really enjoyed the main story path and final portion of the game. I didn't enjoy the mass collectibles in worlds where it takes longer to figure out the map structure than actually get to where you want to be. looking forward to any of the next installments in the star wars universe. Going to be trying to platinum COD Cold war next, After waiting for an update to the DOA mode I gave the First person mode a try, Other than running out of time IRL I think this is now much more manageable. started Maneater so the percentage has taken a small dip backwards but overall I am happy with the progress I am making and finishing 3 games since the event started. Popular Post gruffiiti
Monday update Well my completion took a bit of a dive this week for the first time in 2021... Abzu Love this game and finishing it again for the second time was just as enjoyable as the first go round. Dark Souls III Finally started up Dark Souls III this week as my buddy @Spacey Dweeb has been playing it lately too. We play a lot of co-op together and Souls games are always a favorite. Not too terribly far into the game yet as schedules have been a little hard to match up this week. So far the game has been great but we shall see once the covenant grinds are completed. Lonely Mountains:Downhill I had been wanting to play this game since I came it across it randomly a few months back so when it showed up in the latest sale I had to pick it up. The whole point of this game is to get from the top of the mountain to the bottom. Sounds easy but there are plenty of obstacles from rocks and trees to lakes and cliffs to maneuver. Each trail has challenges that range from beginner to expert. Completing challenges unlock new clothing items, bike parts or even new trails and/or mountains to ride. There are even night rides to unlock and let me tell you a trail can look and feel a lot different at night no matter if you have mastered it in the daytime. Popular Post Spinacheq
Update #9 Well 9 weeks down and while it feels like I was very lazy on my backlog work this last week, when I went back and looked I managed to clear 43 trophies off my unearned count. Most of them in inFamous second son. So after completing Dragon quest heroes the week before, I was unsure what game to play next as I had a lot I wanted to play, but also wanted a change of pace from some of the more grindy games. I did start cleaning up Dragon's Crown on vita, as this will be a long haul game for me. By this I mean I will be playing it inbetween other games as when I need a little break from the consoles/my wife is using them . So progress on this will be slow but I hope it will consistent. It wasn't until Thursday of last week I decided on which game would be my main focus, thanks @arsenal4life1471 excellent advice on both cleaning up inFamous Second Son from unfinished list and returning the it's fun world. I had forgotten how fun sucker punch games can be, as well as them being local developer in my area (seattle/bothell) area of washington state and they do a great job of including the local environments into their games. Dragon's Crown (Vita): This is my side hustle/long haul game, I have made more progress in finishing at least one play through then when PS+ first gave me the game. I have also decided with game to not play it on my pstv, as I won't be doing huge hour long gaming sessions on this one. It is nice to have my vita in my hands again. I truly hate how this much superior handheld got almost no love here in America, yet the switch is considered a holy grail. inFamous Second Son (PS4): I have complete my first playthrough of this game and got all the major collectable trophies not that there are many of them, and them being displayed on the map once you take down the central bad guy tower for a district is very nice. I probably would have been completely done with the platinum had I not started this game so late in the week. Oh well some times a small contemplation break is what we need. I expect to have this game finished in the next day or two. Final Fantasy 15 DLC (PS4): Currently staled and not actively being worked on. Will revisit soon. Assassin's Creed 3 DLC (PS3): Another staled game as every time I go to pick it up to finish off the last DLC I flash back to horrible controls and handling, then my mind says "Psst, over here you have a whole bookshelf of games that aren't AC3 to play, come enjoy them." and then I give in and well yeah. lol. Assassins Creed Valhalla: I have been working through the story missions and finishing each area as much as I can before moving on. I have probably half of the collectables completed in the entire game. Its a long process but is does feel great earning that little tick for each of the three collectables.
