Popular Post starcrunch061
Plat #465: Legend of Mana Legend of Mana Earned all other trophies. I've always had a fondness in my heart for Legend of Mana (heretofore dubbed "LoM"). But getting the plat, I can see why people didn't like it. Why is this game so damn confusing? Events are difficult to find, and sometimes worse to complete. Learning weapon skills is a test of patience (and mostly useless, as hitting enemies with normal attacks or flip-kicks is far more efficient). The rules for getting produce are absurd. And don't even get me started on forging, or golem creation, or getting elemental coins. The list goes on and on. Also, what is up with these horrible people you help? One person is willing to allow her wannabe boyfriend to destroy the world, because...she likes him? And we're supposed to help this creep? Another group has no problem sinking ships and killing crews because...well, what right do these ships have to sail, anyway? And I'm not talking about some message regarding the creep onto natural territory by human advancement. These sirens could sing literally anywhere, but they seem to seek out ships actively. And again...we're supposed to help them? I had always wondered if Square doofus Akitoshi Kawazu had a hand in this game. As it turns out, he's the producer, and his stink is all over this. And while sometimes his games work, kind of (I've always been a fan of Saga Frontier), his brand of "freedom of choice" just sucks here. Well, on the plus side, the game looks and sounds great. I didn't much care for the re-arranged soundtrack, but Square wisely included the original soundtrack as well. Great stuff. Images were cleaned up (though characters remain very pixelated, which gives an odd impression). Combat is surprisingly fun, though a bit too easy. I had hoped that it would improve on the higher difficulties (which I never bothered with before). It didn't. It's still easy, but now, it takes forever, and if you make a single mistake, you die. Still, it's a pretty short plat (26 hours for me). The trophy tiles look great...except for the plat image (above), which sucks. Of the four mana plats available, I now am missing on Secret of Mana, which was easily the most popular of the Mana games. Strange world. Plat #466: Persona 5 Strikers True Phantom Thief Earned all trophies. Well, another Persona plat for me as well, adding to Persona 4, Persona 5 (twice), and the dancing plats. I should go back and try Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax, as it was free on PS+ long ago (though I imagine that one is significantly harder). But anyway, I didn't love this game at first, but over time, it grew on me. P5S continues the story of the Phantom thieves. I don't know exactly how it fits in with the timeline of P5R, but I don't care. Rather than turn-based RPG, P5S opts for action gameplay, in the vein of musou games. And honestly, I didn't really like it at first. It was hard to figure out exactly where my character was attacking, etc. Thankfully, the normal difficulty wasn't that hard, so it didn't matter, but this opened up one of the major problems: GOD THESE BRATS TALK ALL THE TIME. I mean, seriously, they make the most stupid "observations" imaginable. "Wow - we got the blue key! Didn't we see a blue door? Let's take the blue key to the blue door!" It's not like the map isn't marked for you: do they really need to interrupt action with this nonsense? And this is nothing compared to the long sets of dialogue in between dungeon visits. This can work in an RPG where you interact with dialogue, raise affinities, etc. But in an action game? Ugh. And the worst part is, unlike many dialogue-heavy Japanese slogs, where 1000 words are apparently worth a picture, if you skip these scenes, you'll have no idea what the hell is going on. Very annoying. But on the plus side, beat the game, and you unlock "merciless" difficulty. It is merciless, no doubt. And I found it to be a blast. Now, I could safely skip all dialogue, and focus on the brutal combat, which is much better, as dodging is pretty much mandatory. Unfortunately, your shitty AI doesn't help. They have healing skills...just flipping heal me! When I started, I must have burned 100 healing items in the first dungeon alone. But still, a great PS+ game.

Popular Post TalesofGaming
#63 - Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Favorite Ys game to date! I need more games like this in my life... Nihon Falcom just REALLY knows how to make good JRPGs. The gameplay of the Ys games are so satisfying with real-time battle. The setting of this particular Ys game is just gorgeous with the idea of a prison city and alter ego's of each character. The story was really good and even had me surprised at some parts. I also really enjoyed each playable character. Everyone seems to praise VIII the better of the series but I disagree. The cast was so much better in this one and I honestly loved the story much better as it had more of a gothic theme to it. This was a very enjoyable platinum experience and I can't wait for the 10th installment.
Popular Post Moridin83
# 190: Watch Dogs 2 It's an Ubi title, so you know what you're basically getting in terms of gameplay. The story is lighthearted enough to be amusing, although, playing it in 2022, some of the 2016 caricatures of Silicon Valley companies are a little on the nose. No really difficult trophies, and the online is still plenty active. A decent time filler when you don't want to think too hard, but that's about it.
Popular Post LastDevilman
Platinum #19: Alien: Isolation Platinum Difficulty: 4.5/10 In this story you play as Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley's daughter we saw in Aliens. The game does a better job of expanding the world of Alien since the previously mentioned Aliens was released in way back in '86 outside of Ridley Scott's newer ventures which, while contentious, I personally enjoy a lot. Platinum status of this game as been made easier since the update that included a novice mode, making it much easier for the trophy most people will have trouble with, which is the one shot trophy, a full playthrough without dying once. Other than that trophy most it is quite easy, you don't need to do the new Nightmare difficulty for the hardest difficulty trophy although i would recommend it if you're patient, its incredibly well paced out nightmare. Overall enjoyment: 8.7/10
Popular Post Quink666
Platinum #410 Chronos: Before the Ashes BFA Unlock Everything Difficulty: / Fun: / Trophies: / This is one of the most enjoyable souls like indies i have ever played. Very unique with its aging process when you die. Basically the more you die the easier the game becomes. It also has a very good trophy list. No collectibles but a fair bit of missables and difficulty trophies. You are also required to beat the game with 3 or less deaths. This might sound daunting at first but you can get this trophy on the easiest setting which is a joke really. The game could have used some more weapons and most certainly some armors and trinkets and such. There are only about 8ish weapons and each of them are tied to trophies. Highly recommend this game. Here is the most shitty platinum screenshot ever. Just a black screen ?

Popular Post Undead Wolf
#398 - Nioh 2 You Are Nioh Obtained all trophies. Oh man, what a journey this was. I put about 140 hours into this game going off what the PS5 tells me, spread over 2 months or so. It was probably a bit overkill since I got all the way up to Way of the Nioh difficulty (NG++++) when the trophies themselves only require you to beat Way of the Demon (NG++) for the DLC, but I don't regret spending all that extra time with the game. It's a game that's insanely fun when you find a build that works, and getting to the higher levels/difficulties allows you to make it even stronger. I feel like this game improved upon Nioh 1 in pretty much ever aspect, and that's a game I have fond memories of. Combat is even more indepth, there's an insanely complex character creator now where you can go as far as recreating characters from other game with surprising accuracy, and the story is even better. Some really great cutscenes and boss battles in this one. It's a series that has surpassed the "souls-like" label imo and has really come into its own. I'm extremely impressed with it. I spoke of the trophies briefly already, but the main hurdle actually comes from the DLC trophies. You have to become strong enough to beat all the DLC missions on Way of the Demon, and that's no joke. It's safe to say that they're quite a bit tougher than the main game missions. You can make it as hard as you want to though since it's possible to overlevel yourself, although that will take a significant amount of time, and going through the higher difficulty levels have their own challenges associated with them. Apart from that, there's some light grinding to get proficiency with all the weapons, ninja skills, and onmyo magic, but it's nothing too crazy, especially if you work on them throughout and switch up your build every now and then. There are also the checklist/collectible trophies in the forms of kodamas, hot springs, and dark realms, which is a little tedious, mainly because some of the levels can be a pain to navigate and get your bearings. But yeah, I had a blast with this game. It's too bad there's no current plans for Nioh 3. I'll be coming back to these games eventually though when I play through the native PS5 releases. I just want to thank my good buddy @Redgrave for playing with me throughout the whole thing. We overcame all the struggles in the end. It was a great co-op experience. ? Popular Post Conor
#117- LIFE IS STRANGE: TRUE COLORS [PS4] Haven Maven Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 2/10 Time: 2 days, 35 minutes, 23 seconds / 15 Hours Rarity: 15.3% Rare (PSN) / 69.37% Common (PSNProfiles) Challenge: Emotional Unearthing- Find all Memory Collectibles in Chapter 5 I have enjoyed all of the games in the Life is Strange series so far but this one surprised me. I had worried that the series had nowhere interesting to go after the Diaz brothers but I still went ahead and got both copies of this game for PS4 and PS5. I had a hard time putting it down from the get go. You take control of Alex Chen, the oldest playable protagonist of the series so far as she is a young adult instead of a teenager. She travels to the mountain town of Haven to meet with her estranged brother Gabe, himself there in search of their father who abandoned them as children. Things seem nice and peaceful in Haven until disaster strikes and Alex sets off on a mission to unravel the mystery that brought her devastating loss while grappling with her "Empath" powers. Like all other games in the series I see a lot of people talking about how they just bounce off this series and that is a shame because there are some really great ideas and character moments throughout and this one may have the best of them all. Alex's powers are far less flashy than those of Max Caulfield or Daniel Diaz, but they offer some interesting puzzles for the player to unravel in order to get more insight on the town and its people. Since the game is centred on emotion, it is fitting that facial animations have taken a huge step up from previous titles. The expressiveness of the characters shine through in a way that conveys their feelings far better than the more rudimentary animations in previous entries. My favourite character is Steph Gringrich, returning from Before the Storm and may have certain powers of her own depending on the choices you make, i.e. Spoiler In a possible conversation with another character named Diane, Steph flirts to the point where Diane may actually be a little turned on! Hooray for the power of gay! I made my Alex bi-sexual since it was an option and I had already made Max and Sean straight while Chloe in Before the Storm is gay but you can control how romantically intimate of a relationship she has with Rachel Amber, whereas your choice here determines whether Alex will win the affections of Steph or mountain boy and friend of her brother Ryan. Representation is handled well here but if that is something that bothers you, well, stay clear (but also maybe re-evaluate some of your own ideas, life is too short for such nonsense). Music is also pretty important here and the soundtrack is breathtaking both in terms of score and licensed tracks- contains the best use of Dido's "Thank You" I've seen in a piece of media. Then there is the LARP scene which harkens back to classic RPGs and it is just just a clever and enjoyable sequence Overall, I can honestly say I really loved this game and will get around to the PS5 version soon. It is simply gorgeous and brilliantly realised and like other games in the series it goes pretty under the radar. Definitely worth checking out if you found any of the other games in the series to your liking.
Popular Post Redgrave
#237: You Are Nioh - Nioh 2 I looked forward to playing this after playing the first one and it certainly didn't disappoint. It felt like they kept the good aspects from the first game in while slightly improving them such as the wide range of weapons to use and having Torii Gate (co-op) from the start for most missions along with it being three player. Another thing added was the character creator which is probably one of the best character creators out there since you can make a ton of crazy accurate characters from other series and the way they appear in the cutscenes looks natural. I had my character look like Goro Majima from Yakuza and it looked really authentic in the cutscenes. Probably the closest I will also get to playing Yakuza Ishin too ? Along with that is the Yokai abilities they added which gives you a more flexible moveset and they felt more useful compared to the Living Weapon stuff from the first game. It also felt to me that there were more builds that you could work with where in the first one it felt like all but a select few were just nerfed to where you couldn't use them. I think to compensate for this though it made some of the really good builds hard to make because of RNG on stats and certain abilities that you need to get on equipment. Some builds would need something really specific to work properly but that usually meant grinding however there was one that was easy to make and basically made the rest of the game easy. I would have liked to have done the Dragon Ninja/Hayabusa set like in the first game but I would have had to grind more than I would have liked to in order to get it properly made. But overall it felt like there was more flexible builds to make compared to the first one which is great even if it did feel a bit overwhelming. As for the trophies there are more in total compared to the first game but a lot of them were just a matter of weapon grinding or collectibles and doing specific things during missions. Like mentioned above the main thing is completing the DLC on Dream of the Demon but going on Way of the Nioh difficulty unlocks The Underworld which is basically a floor survival mode that can give you over a billion Amrita (exp) on each floor. Not only that but it also lets you level up your gear to a pretty wild degree and so Dream of the Demon difficulty winds up feeling pretty easy once you get your gear and weapons to +70 and you have 200 points into two stats that compliment your weapons and build ? Probably the most fun part about the game is the co-op since it is three player and you can do all but the 1v1 duel missions. It's a very fun experience when you have a good group of people and you manage to go through really difficult areas or bosses and everyone will emote after a hard battle ? There's a sense of comradery that I feel like can only really be felt in a game like this and I wish there were more like it especially if they were Samurai themed. I feel like that is something that really makes it a memorable experience and if they make Nioh 3 I hope they add on to it. Once again I would like to thank @Undead Wolf for playing with me along with the many randoms that helped us and were actually helpful ?For the people that would leave mid-way through a level despite being overpowered or the ones that were clearly strong but would wait until we both died to show off (and sometimes fail anyway) during bosses, or lastly one specific jackass that made us restart a mission because they would sit down and there was no way to kick them, I hope Nioh 3 has a Darkwraith kind of clan so that way they can get their asses indicted ?

Popular Post preciseRNG
#75 Red Dead Redemption 2 Legend of the West I did it. I got that mountain of a platinum and what an adventure this has been. The love for detail in this game, story telling, sad and funny moments, it has everything. I never thought to go for the platinum because of those online trophies I've never been a fan of, but due to some friendly dudes in a gaming session I manged to get some of them done and grinded the rest of it. Then I fully focused on the story while having several things always in mind to make the end game clearing not that of a struggle. The great guide written on here was surely a big help! Depending on R* Social Club I played: 91 hours in story mode 38 hours in online mode IMO this was the last R* game they put hell of a lot love in it, but I'll happily be proven wrong in the future. I am glad I am done on the one side, but maybe leave a tear or two looking back at this masterpiece. Popular Post Rick_Sanchez
Platinum 274 Fun: 8/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Demon's Souls is remastered for the PS5 and it comes with a number of quality of life changes ranging from being able to send items you can't carry you find straight to storage to being able to use multiple warrior's souls at once instead of using them one by one. The difficulty is still present and the game will find ways to murder you be it from hidden enemies from above, a rolling bolder from the top of the stairs, a dragon flying by without warning and breathes fire on you, or even other players invading your world to hunt you down. The one change that I think should've been implemented was an option to toggle invasions on or off if you just want to play with a friend without dealing with other players. Thankfully you don't have to obtain every armor or maximum strengthened via different stone type weapon in the game but you do have to collect every ring which if you're following a guide step by step you'll get them all in one playthrough. There are a few boss exclusive trophies to keep an eye out for such as killing one boss that summons clones without hitting the clones. Popular Post Cmndr_Yoshi
#149 - Dragon Quest Builders Rarity - %12.04 I've played this on some older accounts and it still is one of my favorite builder-type games. The sheer amounts of items and resources you can use and construct is impressive. What's lacking, however, is a fleshed out combat mechanic. Combat consists of pressing triangle to attack, moving away from the enemy while they repeat their predictable attack, then rinse and repeat. This wouldn't be a problem if combat wasn't a large portion of the game, but it's immensely important for gathering materials and completing the chapters. Repetitive combat notwithstanding, the music and environments really shine and truly feel at home in the Dragon Quest franchise. Good stuff. Popular Post GoldenShaka
142 Blue Reflection Second Light A Special Girl I still remember playing the original Blue reflection, very simple but accurate gameplay, after all we're talking about magical girls, turn based combat was on point, cute reflectors, entertaining but scarce amount of bosses. I never expected the game to get a sequel, after all it's a very niche game, most of people opinion's a very easy and simple game. But, we got it, we got a sequel, and for the most part Gust improved the game. Graphics, areas to explore, dating, gameplay, a great story. Even the fanservice amazes me that in certain scenes got Sony today's approval. Probably due the great acceptance of Atelier Ryza they went with a similar combat mechanic. And that's where my love for the game was in conflict. In fact, I preordered, I had it sealed many days playing the demo trying to get use to the gameplay, at the end I just unwrapped the game. So, why so much trouble with the combat? As I said before I totally bought the Turn base combat for a game with magical girls, watching transformations and combat animations, especially with the boss fights which was what I enjoyed the most in the first game. Second light instead goes for exhilarating timeline combat, which in a few words is Jump from one Reflector menu to the next one, otherwise I would wait for the enemies to hit me in order to see the animations, absurd, the only moments when I could see the animations was when the story had me revisiting maps with weaker enemies. The action is so frenetic that when you build a combo from a reflector you need to quickly press Touch pad X times for the chain to unleash otherwise if you choose next reflector previous reflector combo is lost. At least the Special skill was a full animation, sadly it was something not very common because required a 15 hit combo to be available. Anyways, the game is fun, even made me unconsciously switch the whole gang, in both the first game and the new game plus. I started with Ao, Renna and Kokoro and when the story allowed it I changed to Hinako, Hiori and Shiho. Hiori is a beast with a few fragments. It's ironic that they're twitching the Turn base formula with the upcoming Atelier Sophie 2, something that I wanted here. Now I want to play Sophie 2 that originally was not interested lol. Well, first platinum of 2022, Still deciding which one will be my 150 platinum. See ya.
