Popular Post No longer here
#188 - Monster Hunter Rise (PS5) Rating/Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Time: 304 Hours PSNP Rarity: 2.83% PSN Rarity: 0.6% My third MH plat, I've easily put in 1000+ Hours into this franchise and its always worth it, despite the grind for the crowns and large amount of monsters you need to kill. I have to say for a Nintendo Switch game at launch, they really did everything they can do in terms of content and quality and I mean that in a good way. IMO the combat is faster and more accessible than it ever was in MH. Anyone can pick up this game and learn to have a fun time. I liked the monster roster for this game and the controls feel silky smooth as ever. Lots of good design went into here and I loved how the combat has gotten better than its predecessor that is World/Iceborne. I used the switchaxe, light bowgun and longsword, all fun to use!! The fun and detailed mechanics for each weapon is still a big positive in this game, as it is for the whole series. This game takes less of a learning curve from its predecessor, as World took some time to get used to and the game was naturally harder than this title. Both games are fantastic, but I can see Rise being a better option if you are just starting! While Rise did everything right in terms of its mechanics, monster roster and fluidity of the game, I felt the game was much easier than i expected. It's not a bad thing, the challenge is there for sure, but its a noticeable difference for sure. The level design was pretty lacking but I didn't expect much since it launched on the Switch first. I missed the detailed world and immersive experience that I had in World/Iceborne, but obviously that wasn't what they were aiming for here. The game is more "arcade" as it focuses more on the gameplay aspects of all things, and they nailed it with high quality and polish! my biggest negative with this game is the rampage quests, while it was a good concept, I felt it was lacking and it was a big off-putting in the game. With the way the game was paced, I felt rampages didn't need to be a thing, it was gimmicky and didn't need to be apart of the story quests. Overall the game was great and addicting as any MH game!! It nails the gameplay and monster design aspect of the game and makes the 300+ hours worth it, this is a great to pick up if you love action/hack n slash with rpg elements! I gotta say thanks to @SethHulc @port3672 @QUJNVCVC for the crown hunting, would've been impossible without them, see ya in Sunbreak!

Popular Post GarciaFever
#217 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge This was a fun game, and how it felt like I was playing the Super Nintendo verion (Turtles in Time). If it weren't for the second controller trick, I would still be fighting Shredder and trying not to get hit. It's just stupid that the devs decided to buff his movement and attack speed, thus not giving people enough time to get out of the way.
Popular Post disaster500
#65 Horizon Forbidden West - 43.23% Personal Difficulty - 4/10 (doing everything on Normal difficulty) Time Played - 40 hours I enjoyed Zero Dawn, so naturally I was happy to see this as part of February's PS Plus Extra games. This improves on the first game in almost every way, there's more variety in machines, weapons and playstyles, the graphics and animations are so much better, traversal is more fun, and many QoL improvements. Turning off pickup animations is such a game changer, it's so nice to mash Triangle through a cluster of medicinal berries and pick them all up without slowing down. I highly recommend both games, if you haven't played them yet, start with Zero Dawn first though.

Popular Post StraightVege
Hail to the King! #321 - Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour How this brought back memories of comparatively simpler halcyon days, when the juvenile incarnation of me found Duke's pastiche of action hero clichés uproariously funny, was somehow excited by indiscernible pixelated "babes," and never got bored exploring the utterly labyrinthine maps for secret areas. "So interactive—you can even flush the toilets," he thought. Across the PS1, N64, and PC, I grew up playing several iterations of Duke Nukem 3D late into the night, it being a game and franchise I was simply enamored with. Sure, Doom was fine and all, but I always had a preference for Duke's edgy presentation, and its cool gadgets like the jetpack. Plus, the man himself had personality, unlike so many video game protagonists of the time. To be honest, my father wasn't exactly an exemplary human being, thus I had a tendency to glom onto strong male figures in media as a substitute, particularly in games. Nowadays, I'm perhaps less impressed, since almost every aspect of this FPS is about as dated as you'd expect over twenty years later. Combat is rather basic, amounting to little more than point, shoot, and strafe, while Duke's quips are decidedly more corny than I remembered them. Concerning the premise, all one really needs to know is: Duke bigem tough guy, he likey women ooga booga. Ugly alien invaders abduct women, make Duke mad. He blast alien bastards! As the horrendous Forever clearly illustrated, a modern Duke title would need to be far more self-aware to go over well. Personally, I agree with many fans that memer and voice actor Gianni Matragrano's hilarious characterization of Duke could work wonderfully in a new game. By the way, anyone else remember that terribly edgy old advertisement: "If you don't play Duke Nukem 3D, you like men!"? At least the arsenal of weapons largely holds up—everyone loves the iconic shrink ray, after all. World Tour also appears to be a fairly comprehensive collection of levels, which seem to look and play better than ever before. A number of them are entirely unfamiliar to me, in fact, as I believe a new episode was created specifically for this version. Conveniently, the game allows you to warp to any chapter or level in the pause menu, making it effortless to jump into the campaign wherever you'd prefer. For the most part, it looks to be a superior product versus PS3's Megaton Edition, although I did suffer several crashes to blue screen, a fact which is difficult to excuse in a port of such an ancient game, since it presumably shouldn't stress the PS4 Pro significantly. Additionally, no version of this game's soundtrack has yet surpassed Mark Knight's glorious arrangement for PS1's Total Meltdown, so it's a shame that they couldn't use it here. What still astonishes me to this day is the sheer complexity of the map design, and the creative tricks they utilized to pull off certain effects within the limitations of their engine. Modern shooter environments might look prettier, but are often so uninspired and linear by comparison, albeit less of a headache to navigate. Thus far, I haven't spent a great deal of time with World Tour, beyond speedrunning the platinum through shameless use of the cheats menu. Seeing as I've played most of these levels plenty of times already, I suppose I'm not missing much. However, I'm making a mental note to revisit it for a proper playthrough in the future anyway, now that the trophies are squared away. Speaking of cheats, this experience reminded me how I miss being able to enter a secret code to unlock stuff in games. Contemporary titles should repopularize doing that, says I! Popular Post GUDGER666
313. It's a good game, but runs like crap on PS4 Pro and loading is very slow. Highly recommend to get all trophies in 1 playthrough because depending on what you missed can mean almost replaying the entire game.

Popular Post mega-tallica
Bugsnax Enjoyment: 4/5 - Pretty enjoyable, laid back game. It feels like it's designed as a kids game but there's some bugsnax that are pretty tricky to figure out how to catch and then pull off catching them. It's not a total easy-peasy playthrough for the platinum and can get frustrating but overall, it's a fun game. It reminds me a lot of Pokemon or something but more about the catching part and not the fighting part. Difficulty: 2/5 - Again, some bugsnax are tough to catch and pretty counter intuitive with how you have to go about doing it. Most of the game you can cruise through on autopilot but then you get those bugsnax you need to catch and it's a total 'how the hell am I supposed to catch that thing'? And then you figure it out and it's so obvious once it clicks what you're supposed to do. Had to look up some guides for a few of them though as they totally stumped me. The one that comes to mind immediately was the scorpion in Sizzlin' Sands. That was a nightmare.
