Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #291 Thunder Kid: Hunt for the Robot Emperor (PS4) Thunder Runner Unlocked all other trophies. I intended to get the plat for the PS5 version… and did, but having played it on PC knew I hadn’t gotten to the end yet and didn’t realize the trophy list is trash and doesn’t even require doing the whole game so popped it a few minutes too fast playing it expecting trophies to mirror the achievements, so it replaced my current fastest Ms. pac-Man, and I refuse. I like the game, but love Ms. PAC-Man. It’s my favourite arcade game from my childhood (and today). So I like it having a milestone. I am very sad the list sucks. I got it on sale so ultimately was happy to support the dev again. is it great? No. But it has great visual aesthetic, and if it just had weapon types to unlock (mega man style) or power ups to pick up (contra, etc) then it would add much needed depth. Said as much in my Steam review. As it is it’s mediocre, but I had fun with it on PC. Forget what music sounds like I was listening to YouTube doing it… twice. ?I usually make sure to check and double and triple check to ensure these types of lists don’t overtake a better game. Oh well, more hidden trophies lol Last boss required for plat has some janky lasers on PS4, and for some reason both versions stutter when reloading after a death and hitting a checkpoint. An issue not present on PC. I’d recommend it on Steam more than on PS. I didn’t intend to double dip on this one anyway. Back to FFXVI.
Popular Post Rick_Sanchez
Platinum 297 Fun: 8/10 Difficulty: 3/10 This is the PS5 version I have mostly auto popped and am using the fun/difficulty metric from the PS4 version. Not all trophies auto pop which leaves you with beating the game, killing your 1st person, and eating a head.

Popular Post Edunstar84
Plat #115 Elena's a b*tch Imagine skipping along, whistling, singing, enjoying your time in the sun and a seagull takes a big dump on her head...multiple times. You then go home and wash your hair several times; come out the shower, look in the mirror, see that you missed a few spots, go back into the shower, and repeat the process over and over. This has been my experience with the game. Granted, the story, plot, and the characters are engaging and interesting. You give them their favorite foods, hug them, hear their stories through questing, and afterwards let them go to that next place. All this makes them really ecstatic; there's even a trophy tied to it. Then, there's Elena, the poop dumping seagull (she's actually a dog). She doesn't want to be hugged, you can't complete her quest just yet, and you have to complete challenges to increase her happiness a tiny bit. I don't even remember her particular storyline. She's comes in at the end of the game, so at a place where you think, "oh great! I'm almost done. What an awesome game". This character didn't really make sense and was at odds with my experience with the others. She's a dlc character that shouldn't have been added. Overall, it's one of my favorite cozy, farming game with an amazing story. Recommend: Yes. I think this game is better than Cozy Grove, honestly.
Popular Post shadaik
On we go with "shovelware be gone" to clean up my download list. Was not made easier by my PS4 controller finally breaking today. I ended up using Vita remote play for the first time. Worked better than expected. Still, I postponed some more shovelware to next weekend (any excuse I can get for procrastinating on Ayleouna, I'll take). #78 & #79 Marsi's Adventure (NA/EU) A tight little platformer but too short for anything costing more than a quarter. Every level is one screen and every level introduces something new. Level 12 (of 15) felt unfair with oversized hitboxes on enemy projectiles, but anything else was tight and worked well. I kinda wished they had balanced a bit more in the direction of quantity when they went all-in on quality. My malfunctioning controller constantly disconnecting and the warnings for that interfering with the game message pop-ups led to the funny result that I now have trophy screenshots of my homescreen and one of a trophy being unlocked while looking at the trophies for the game. 8/10 quality, 1/10 quantity, 2/10 plat #80 Takotan/Octonaut Huh, I liked the old title better. Probably a copyright thing with the Octonauts cartoon. This one was less shovelware-y than I expected. A competent side-scrolling cute-em-up with a little octopus beating back an alien invasion. Very easy for a shmup, but not a downright joke like Blastful. The supposed "grind" for 250 diamonds is barely more than one playthrough, I got it after playing the first two levels one more time. This seems like a good introduction game for somebody wanting to try the genre out but wants to start something easy rather than the nerve wracking classics. That said, the regular price of 6.99 is a bit steep for a game this short - though that is not at all unusual for shmups. 7/10 quality, 4/10 quantity, 2/10 plat

Popular Post Vrisnem
Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story - The Completionist I saw the trailer for the sequel a few weeks ago and out of curiosity looked up the price of the first on the PS store. At the time it was £1.49, so I picked it up. I did not expect to get hooked! It's simplistic and repetitive, but at the same time I really enjoyed it. The story was engaging enough and I had a lot of fun with the arquebusier class. It was a great one to come home and just mindlessly play an hour or so of to unwind after work. My main party by the end. Grew oddly attached to these four.
Popular Post Moridin83
#270 Touhou Double Focus After a Diablo related plat drought, we have another Touhou game! This one is a metroidvania, that came packed in with Genso Wanderer physical copies. It's a small game with relatively forgiving trophies, except for the speedrun. Bosses can be replayed for the no damage and fast clear trophies, and don't have horribly difficult patterns anyway. Even the speedrun isn't nearly as strict as some other games, but would have been much more frustrating without @greenzsaber's very helpful video guide. This game is more for Touhou fans than metroidvania fans I'd say, as there are definitely more impressive ones out there both technically, and in terms of ability variety, but as a Touhou fan I enjoyed it a lot, and it's plenty of fun for anyone at the right price, and has repeatedly been on sale for 99 cents. Besides, who doesn't love fighting fairy Pyramid Head, Jigsaw, Ghostface, and V for Vendetta? Also, while the plat image is underwhelming on it's own, the vertical trophy display for the whole game is very cute. (check it out)

Very pretty and colourful. Takes a lot of inspiration from Pokémon. Gameplay is kind of repetitive like Pokémon, just fight after fight. Talk to some people, fight some more. I guess that could be said about a lot of rpg though. Some people love that stuff for sure, but I get bored with it really easily I find. All in all wasn’t too bad of a game, but not something I’d play twice.

Loved replaying Klonoa 1 again and playing Klonoa 2 for the first time was fun. Having the 2 GBA games and Japan-only RPG as well as some developer interviews and concept art would've been nice, being it's a celebration of the series' 25th anniversary. Still, I'm happy that Bandai Namco bothered with the remasters and I'm hoping we'll get more from them (need a SoulCalibur, Tekken, and OG .hack collections!).
Popular Post StraightVege
Platinum Trophy #338 - The Forgotten City Once merely a popular Skyrim mod, this compelling narrative exploring the inherently flawed nature of humanity and the viability of different morality systems has been skillfully adapted into a full-fledged adventure title, grabbing my attention from the very first moment, with one of the most intriguingly mysterious premises I've yet encountered in gaming. Being someone who primarily cares about the nuts and bolts of gameplay mechanics, it's always nice to be reminded that I can still be absorbed in a good story from time to time. Opening abruptly in the modern day, a strange woman named Karen (don't worry, she's actually very friendly) narrowly rescues you from drowning in Italy's Tiber river. In return, she asks that do her a favor, by venturing into the nearby ruins to locate her missing adventurer friend, Al. Since you have considerable memory lapses regarding how exactly you ended up in the drink, obliging her request seems like the only action to take, and after passing through some kind of time portal within these ruins, you soon find yourself trapped in an ancient Roman city. Although it may appear idyllic initially, this place is closer to a prison than a paradise, holding its citizens captive under an oppressive law called the Golden Rule. Anyone foolish enough to break it by committing acts of theft, assault, murder, or possibly other unclear transgressions results in a collective sentence of eternal torture via the wrath of an angry god, encasing all inhabitants in gold, while maintaining their consciousness. In fact, dozens of eerie golden statues—former victims of said Rule—observe your every move here, whispering vague advice that will only start to make sense much later on. A cursory look around reveals that this experiment has been ongoing for quite some time already, going back to civilizations far older than the Romans. It's almost like collective punishment is an ineffective, poorly conceived notion of justice or something, but y'know how petty gods can be. Upon meeting the local magistrate, an intimidating centurion by the name of Sentius, you're ordered to investigate the other 23 residents, using your newfound time travel powers to rectify any mistakes, and ultimately prevent the Golden Rule from being violated by an unknown perpetrator. Naturally, this is a cover for your true objective of somehow causing a time paradox to escape the city's Sisyphean trap altogether. Reminiscent of the film Groundhog Day, the idea is to eventually make everything fall into place within one loop, using everything you've learned and gained to solve the overall puzzle. Whenever the Rule is broken (and it will be), a booming voice announces that "the many shall suffer for the sins of the one," and you'll frantically sprint back to the entrance portal before you're turned to gold, beginning a new loop, yet retaining both your knowledge and any key items you've obtained thus far. While the denizens won't remember you, your cheerful buddy Galerius is nevertheless happy to run some important errands in your stead, cleverly streamlining the experience, since you'll never need to repeat vital tasks. For example, simply tell him to deliver the antidote you're carrying to that poisoned woman, and he'll immediately take off running to save her, while you look into fresh leads. Some smart design, that. The compact sandbox world is bursting with mystery, profound moral quandaries, and a delightful cast of well-written characters from various cultures. I especially enjoyed befriending Georgius, a remarkably friendly tailor from Greece, who doesn't let the terrible situation bring him down. It's definitely evident that the writer was a lawyer before entering game development, as the philosophical debates you'll have with particular interlocutors demonstrate a deeper understanding of logic than the average person possesses. I actually became annoyed during certain conversations, when the available dialogue responses didn't comport perfectly with my real life moral views. "That's not how I would answer," I exclaimed, but this is likely what they intended, so bravo for writing such an engrossing script. Probably the singular area where it falters is the mawkish good ending, which felt like it was ripped straight out of some sappy Hallmark channel movie. While the exceptional story is unquestionably the highlight of the experience, I also adored the authentic Roman architecture and ambient soundtrack; combined, they strike precisely the right mood for the setting. Some of the original Bethesda DNA remains present in more aspects than just the zoomed-in discussions and facial animations, too, as The Forgotten City features several longbow FPS sections, along with a smidgen of platforming, both of which feel rather Skyrim-like. Albeit a little clunky, these do break up the usual, dialogue-heavy gameplay in a worthwhile way. Additionally, there's light RPG elements in effect, since your character's class and background story are determined by how you answer Karen's questions during the intro. Choosing the Soldier is likely wise, because the handgun is useful for earning several endings and trophies. By and large, they accomplished a lot on a limited budget—kudos! Indeed, The Forgotten City had me hooked from jump and never really let go. I'm regretful about spoiling its numerous twists by watching playthroughs back when it released, but it nonetheless managed to keep me glued to my seat throughout. A rare gem that deserves to be experienced blind at least once. Hopefully, we'll see many more unique games to come from these folks. If something can be destroyed by the truth, it deserves to be destroyed by the truth.
Popular Post No longer here
#201 - Rogue Legacy (PS Vita) Rating/Enjoyment: 7.5/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Time: 30 Hours PSNP Rarity: 2.95% PSN Rarity: 1.8% Sorry no picture this time, I’m on my phone I played this game because I was already a fan of rogue-lites before. Dead Cells and Hades are some of my favorite, and this is a good one as well! I enjoyed the design and bosses in this game, personally. The Remix bosses needed for the trophies were pretty challenging, but made it more satisfying for sure. The game is a very classic rogue style like even the name says Rogue lol. I thought mechanics were okay, but they fit well for the most part and honestly the game became addicting once I got the hang of it! I enjoy the different builds/characters in this as well since I had fun with most of them! The leveling up system is cool and the progression I think is one of the better parts of this game. Overall I was pleased and it was actually a pretty good game. Some negatives I have are that I almost dropped this game in the beginning because it felt it had no impact, but once it clicked I kept playing. Every now and then I felt it but it didn’t bother me much. By impact I meant the satisfying effect of the game, took a while to hit even after the first boss. The combat while I said it was alright, I appreciate it anyways because other games have improved on this!! But I can’t lie, I didn’t find it all that interesting. Some enemies were alright, and not too much variety. Overall, for a game almost over a decade old, I’m pretty pleased with this game and I did enjoy it a lot at its peak!! I recommend this game for those who want to try the roguelites genre or veterans who want a good challenge that love the genre!! Also, I will be playing Rogue Legacy 2 soon! This is pretty much an extra motivation boost on why I started the first one!! Edited June 26, 2023 by victorrfuego
Popular Post Thrillhelm
#3100 Mortal Kombat 11 (PS5 version) Time to plat: 51 hrs Difficulty: 5/10 Fun: 8,5/10 I think thats hardly a shovelware platinum, neither were MKX and Injustice 2 (both of which I also platinum'd) - elitists here may tell you otherwise, beware. With Mortal Kombat 1 on the horizon I wanted to get MK11 done, took me a month and a little bit of practice and patience to do so, mostly because of the infuriating tutorial trophies. While the game does a great job in explaining the mechanics it also tries to teach you a lot of impractical stuff that's impossible to pull of in an online match. Still its a great game, and a solid entry to the series. The character roster could've been better though. I was happy to play with the Kollector (still he won't be seen in the next MK games I guess) but Reptile was missing and fan-favourite Mileena became a DLC character. At least there was no Kung Jin or Hsu Hao from older MK games. Loved the 80s DLC characters, especially Rambo, voiced by Stallone himself. Graphics and sound design were great, with detailed character models and beautiful stages. There was a bit of grind involved but nothing close to MK9, but thr game wasn't as addicting as MKX even with all the improvements (the microtransactions not being one of them). Can't wait for MK1 to continue the fatality show.

Popular Post StraightVege
Sadly, I've exhausted my reputation for the day, but I'll gladly repay your kindness tomorrow, folks. The Chicken Police #339 - Chicken Police Originally, I was drawn to this bizarre point-and-click adventure for admittedly superficial reasons. Its amusing title and delightfully absurd premise seemed good for a cheap laugh, plus I simply adore birds, including chickens. Just like its hard-nosed (beaked?) detective protagonist, however, I got far more than I bargained for. While assuredly a satire permeated with comedic elements, this is every bit as much a gritty noir thriller, packed with suspense and mystery. Artfully using its setting of a corrupt city on the edge, populated by anthropomorphic animal people to parallel societal issues in the real world, the game takes place in Clawville. It's a fragile, colorless metropolis, founded by mysterious and powerful figures long ago, where herbivorous and predatory creatures have attempted to live alongside one another in harmony for quite some time. Here, flesh substitutes are ubiquitous in the food supply, and wearing animal skins for fashion, while not outlawed yet, is strongly frowned upon. Sounds like my kinda town—a shame that murder and organized crime yet plague the city, which is where cynical Sonny Featherland comes in. If he weren't some dude with a Photoshopped rooster's head, he'd be your prototypical film noir hero: world-weary, with a voice like gravel, and mere months away from merciful retirement. To him, this town was always an ill-conceived "experiment," doomed to fail from the outset. One night, an alluring cat lady by the name of Natasha suddenly reaches out for his help investigating threatening messages she began receiving, after her popularity as a nightclub singer rapidly rose. Unfortunately for Sonny, she's also engaged to one of the city's most prominent gangsters, drawing him into a dangerous series of events which could lead to an even earlier retirement than he expected. To have any chance of solving this crazy case, he'll first need to reconcile with his estranged former partner, Marty, reforming the legendary Chicken Police duo, once famous for dealing with predatory killings in Clawville. Prepare for the weirdest buddy cop story you've ever seen! Throughout this 6-8 hour investigation, you'll explore over 25 sleazy city locations by selecting them on a map screen, where you'll then proceed to gather evidence, solve puzzles, and question suspects. Depending on the personality traits of the character you're interrogating, asking the correct questions is necessary for success, otherwise you might spook or anger them. For instance, being overly aggressive towards a timid person will drain the meter, and if it empties entirely, you've failed the questioning. This is ultimately easy to avoid, though, so the system feels rather shallow; some sort of dynamic aspect to monitor could've made it a lot more engaging. Much as I detest complimenting a David Cage game, I'm imagining something akin to the Connor dialogues in Detroit, which actually felt tense. Anyhow, you'd think these numskulls would learn that talking to the cops won't help them. I'm still waiting for somebody in these mystery games to direct me to their lawyer instead of blabbing. Afterward, the gameplay loop returns you to Sonny's dingy apartment—a hole, stinking of whiskey, cigars, and regret—to piece the acquired clues together on a board, thus creating new leads to chase. This wild night offers occasional mini-games of dubious quality, too, such as returning fire at a pursuing car full of mob henchman armed with Tommy guns. While underwhelming in the gameplay department overall, Chicken Police is nevertheless carried quite well by its fabulous script, exceptional voice performances, detailed worldbuilding, and striking visual style. They actually went to the trouble of bringing in professional human models to pose for the snazzy body photographs, and I believe the cat's head belongs to one of the developer's pets, haha. Certainly an unorthodox aesthetic, but a perfect fit for the tone of Chicken Police. Unfortunately, the game's portrayal of mental illness does leave something to be desired, but if that's not a deal-breaker, then seeing its twists and turns is certainly worthwhile for genre fans. Like the old idiom says, "don't judge a book by its cover." Shut the fuck up, Marty. Edited June 26, 2023 by StraightVege
