Popular Post mega-tallica
#284 - Daxter Enjoyment: 3/5 - Never played this game and never even knew it existed so didn't go in with much expectation besides expecting a simple PS2 era platformer and that's exactly what it was. Controls are a bit wonky, platforming is not that great and the hitboxes on enemies are atrocious but the game is so laid back and easy that it's easy to look past its faults. Difficulty: 1/5 - Extremely easy game with a very easy trophy list. Basically, beat the game and collect half the precursor orbs, a few practically unmissable miscellaneous trophies, and play the QTE minigames and you have a platinum.
Popular Post MoonSteel1943
And, a few 20-30 shameless/shameful shovelware platinums later, I run across a game that was a bit of a challenge: Platinum #665: Super Chicken Jumper (PS5) Platinum #666: Super Chicken Jumper (PS4) Fun: 3.5/5 Difficulty: 3/5 Gotta love games where you have to survive 20-30 seconds with a bazillion objects and enemies running after you on a 2D screen where you die after 1 hit. Played games like in the past, so I was accustomed to the having to restart a stage after 2 seconds due to a button mispress and dying. 😂 Difficulty would have probably have been lower ranked if it weren't for the "survive for 60 seconds on endless mode" trophy. Died a ton going for that trophy until I figured out the best strategy to survive. Edited yesterday at 01:29 AM by MoonSteel1943
Popular Post ChilledBrandon
It's been a day full of Toy Story fun! #52 Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (PS5) I'm Proud of You, Cowboy! - Unlock all trophies in Disney•Pixar Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! #53 Toy Story 3 (PS5) You're My Favorite Deputy! - Unlock all trophies in Disney•Pixar Toy Story 3. After playing through Elden Ring to 100% and inbetween playing the DLC, I fancied starting up something a bit more lighthearted of a game that I can just jump in and relax with. The Toy Story games really seemed to fit exactly that sort of bill. I'm glad they decided to add trophies to these two games and I hope to see more great classics get the trophy treatment in the future. Sometimes it's nice to just play games that take you back to being a kid again, you know? Those nostalgic feelings of warmth you get from playing stuff from your childhood just really hits the sweet spot. I have very fond memories of playing through Toy Story 2 on PS1, although there were some levels that I was stuck on forever as a kid. The Rewind Feature though of the emulator basically removes any frustration you might have had with these games back in the day and makes up for the awkward platforming at times. Some of the levels do demand you don't mess up otherwise you can lose quite a bit of time and would normally have to make your way all the way back up again, so I'm glad we have the save states and rewinding features. The games were really fun, I was especially impressed at how well Toy Story 2 has aged considering it came out in 1999. The level designs are fantastic and the OST has so many awesome pieces of music that really match the themes of the levels.

Popular Post Trancexistence
#95 - Grim Legends 2: Song of the Dark Swan I haven't had a lot of time for gaming over the last few weeks with the amount of sport I've been watching on TV along with parenting, and I got the urge to play some more Artifex Mundi today. I enjoyed this one. as I usually do with their games and it's another one cleared from the backlog as I close in on Red Dead Redemption for #100. Popular Post Moridin83
# 323 Deliver Us the Moon I really enjoyed this one. It's a narrative adventure (walking sim), so if that's not your cup of tea, it probably won't do it for you, but this is towards the upper end of the genre for me. The graphics work well, and the holographs being just person shaped leaves more to your imagination and the voicework, which was pretty good. The atmosphere was very well done, it really feels like you're practically alone on the moon, they really manage to make it feel not just empty, but abandoned. The puzzles were never too difficult, but still managed to make it more than just walking from one place to the next. I did have one glitch where I had to reload the game, but it was an easy fix, and didn't distract from the experience much at all. If I had to pick a minor gripe, it would be that some of the trophies are really not intuitive without a guide, but the chapters are short, so if you want to do a totally blind playthrough and then go back for trophy cleanup, that's a realistic option. The game is currently free on PS Plus Extra, but I wouldn't have been upset if I'd paid for this one. Definitely recommended.
Popular Post Viper Posted yesterday at 01:41 AM Popular Post Share Posted yesterday at 01:41 AM (edited) #360 Ratchet & Clank HD (Vita) Gadget Master Still a lot of fun, but the Vita version has a lot of jank to it. Someone mentioned here on PSNP if this original trilogy would get PS5 versions/PS+ Classic versions, and while I think it will...it got me wanting to play R&C now, and remember they had Vita versions. While mostly simple...this version was by far and away the hardest of all the R&C plats...and considering I thought the PS3 version was already the hardest, the Vita itself knocks it up at least another point. But it's mostly because of the god-awful hoverboard race trophies. The Twisty McMarx trophy had me wanting to bang my head on a wall. Since R2 and L2 are tied to the back touchpad, but they're in such a narrow spot, it made it an absolute nightmare to pull off that trick. When I finally found the sweet spot, I had to put a couple of pieces of electrical tape on the touchpad so I had some kind of feedback for my fingers to know where to land...and even then it took me a good 3+ hours of trying to get the timing just right. And this was after already trying previously one day and giving up. I was really close to buying one of the cases for the Vita that adds an L2 and R2 button JUST for this trophy. So I'm a little proud I did it without it, but that was definitely something that needed to be tweaked specifically for the Vita. Other than that the camera was a problem a lot of times, especially when you were using the Magnaboots to walk across the magnetic ledges and the camera was going all over the place or you had to move it yourself and then it wouldn't stay there and Ratchet just plummets to his death and you have to start all over because the checkpoints are pretty crap in the first game. The Vita just isn't as intuitive as a Dualshock 3 so simple tasks were more difficult than they needed to be. Other than that, it's still a great game and a lot of fun to play, and I'll gladly do the 2nd and 3rd Vita versions eventually. Popular Post Valzentia Posted yesterday at 02:09 AM Popular Post Share Posted yesterday at 02:09 AM #232 - Killer Dolls United Difficulty: 2/10 Fun: 2/10 This game sucks. Why do I do this to myself? It's a really bad hack and slasher that you really need to stay away from urgently. It features six characters, known as "dolls", which are all various ripoffs of Zelda with the face of professional wrestler Io Shirai if they were to make a WWE game today for the Nokia N-Gage. The gameplay is non-existent, you can just spam your special attack and the game is piss-easy, and there's no variation. It's just bad. Stay away, unless you're a completionist. Do not spend your money on this. Don't even pirate this. Awful game. Not as bad as some of the games I truly hate, but still quite awful.
Popular Post Elvick_ Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Popular Post Share Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Platinum #358 Daxter (PS5) Bug Boy Extraordinaire Unlock all trophies in Daxter. I played this on PSP back in the day but never beat it. I don't even think I got that far... but, it's fun. Although there's some pretty significant slow downs in many places which is a bummer. Not sure if that's the game itself of the emulator struggling with the rewind built on top. The main issue I have with the game is it's one of those double jump platformers where the double jump can't be done whenever you want. You have to do it pretty much right after the main jump which I have never been a fan of and has never made sense or felt natural to me. If you can jump while in the air, why is it limited to only after your first jump? Oh and the fact the camera always moves behind you. I got used to it eventually, but it makes controls a bit worse than they otherwise would've needed to be all these years later. Especially hovering. I did really like the hovering though, the most fun for me was using the bug sprayer to platform and hover around while grabbing green orbs to restore the charge to keep going. It's a nice mechanic, just made a bit worse by the camera moving making smaller adjustments awkward. From the few times I actually let a death go the checkpoints seem really fair. I rewound most of them. I'm thrilled we do not have to 100% this, because I really tried to get 100% of the orbs on every level up toward the end but it was really not working out for me at all. I was missing tons every time. I think I completed maybe two or three levels with all of them. I like that it fills in the gaps a bit between J&D and Jak II. Though I do wish the story was a bit more focused on rescuing Jak. I get the joke that Daxter gets sidetracked, but it's kind of goofy to me that's not at the forefront of the majority of the story. The minigames forced into the story run waaaaaaaaaaaay too long. The sleeping minigames are kind of neat references. And Dwarf Daxter is... nice. ;P I think the most fun one was the Gandalf one. It had a nice speed while the others tended to drag a bit (especially the one before it). Another platformer down. Next up I'm going to the other PSP Jak game. Or finish Toy Story 3 up, we'll see where I am. (literally, I have them on different consoles in different rooms :P)

Popular Post LucilleRosethorn Posted yesterday at 10:38 AM Popular Post Share Posted yesterday at 10:38 AM Platinum #93 Elden Ring Enjoyment: 8/10 Time: 63 hours Difficulty: 4/10 This is a game I would recommend to everyone, something you should give a go at least once in your gaming life. I don't think it's the best souls game but it's one which will impact you and leave an impression. I didn't enjoy it at first and it did take me awhile to get fully into it but once I did it's all I could think about, I was fully addicted. After finishing it, it left that feeling of emptiness while you hunt for another game to fill that void. Apparently for me that was getting underwear in Kotodama but that's another story. I will do the PS4 stack at some point as I would love to do it again but I think Lies of P will be my next souls game as I've heard great things about it.

Popular Post HansPatat050 Posted yesterday at 01:15 PM Popular Post Share Posted yesterday at 01:15 PM #116 Super Impossible Road Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Quite fun and challenging game, which feels like one of those early smartphone games where you had to move your phone to stay on track. It's a simple game where you have to stay on the track with a ball. There is a unique concept where you can jump off the road and try to land way down the path. However, there is a limited timeframe to do so. The gameplay is centered around this element and you'll have to master in order to achieve platinum. The difficulty ramps up when you try to get the 300+ gate trophy in Timed mode or the 1000+ trophy in Survival mode. This is a serious challenge. It's not impossible and definitely not super impossible and I recommend to focus on the bouncing ability and have your camera set to 'far . Time to plat approx. 12 hours, including lots of attempts on the 1000+ gate survival trophy. #117 Tinker Racers Enjoyment: 6/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Ok overhead mini-car racer. Beating the developer times was quite fun but not a real challenge. You can move some of the objects around in order to create useful shortcuts. The game is a bit buggy with this shortcut-creation element, where it might not follow you when you shortcut is just too good. Overall fun short racer. Be aware; it requires 4 controllers to plat. Time to plat approx. 10 hours.

Popular Post mega-tallica
#285 - Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! Enjoyment: 4/5 - Holy nostalgia Batman! I remember renting this on the N64 way back when I was a kid. Me and my friends beat it in one night. The game is just very fun, obviously dated now but still a lot of fun. If this games camera wasn't so terrible, I'd give it another half a point but alas, you're really fighting the camera the whole time and that definitely dampers the enjoyment at times. Difficulty: 1.5/5 - Again, the difficulty is fighting the camera. It just doesn't look where you want to look and you simply can't see where you need to be going at times and you're making blind jumps. Thank goodness for rewind because there are some platforming sections where one mistake and you fall all the way to the bottom so it certainly saves you a lot of time and potential frustration. #286 - Toy Story 3 Enjoyment: 3.5/5 - The rare good movie tie-in game. Very short, but fairly well done. Difficulty: 1/5 - Nothing difficult, mostly just a collect-a-thon and pretty much all the collectibles are right in your path so you don't even need guides to get the platinum. Plan to continue with these PS Classics, MediEvil is next.

The gameplay is basically composed of easy fights with QTEs, three simple stealth sessions and some fun puzzles. The plot is quite interesting but the ending is abrupt which kind of matches the subversive style of the game. The beautiful graphic style and smooth animations alone are worth a recommendation.
