I managed to complete a few games for my December and rounded out the yearly backlog challenge yet again. Mighty glad to see the back of Star Wars Bounty Hunter. I'll consider whether I am going around for the yearly backlog challenge. With only 77 unearned trophies on my list and about 15 games, this looks next to impossible comparing to other profiles that have ample games to complete. But this was the purpose of the competition for me, to get this backlog manageable, and to be honest I want it lower But I got rid of some ripper games this year - I didn't think I'd ever persist with AC Brotherhood, Sonic Mania or Crash Bandicoot 4, but this is what the event pushes you to do. Its kind of why I'd still like to be part of the yearly backlog challenge just so I can push myself and then fail. Because with my list - its pretty damn certain that I will fail! Only 15 games to work with, 1 of which is unobtainable and 2 of them being super meat boy games. That leaves a perfect 12, and I'm probably popping one tomorrow that is under 6 montsh completion. So unless I add games (which I'd rather not) - I'll just go for as long as I can. I'll definitely keep my eye over the forums however. My games for December are below. Since i finish most of my "i really want to finish this still" games over the last 2 years i slowed down a little. also i got in the mood to play more stuff thats not 10 years old^^ Games that i really didnt expect to finish: Uncharted 4 Project Cars Bodycount On all of them i really accepted to never get them done but ended up finishing them with a lot less trouble than i thought. always nice to have a positive surprise going^^ Biggest relieve to have it finally done: Call of Duty Black ops 3 i used to play a ton of Zombie mode back on ps3 in Black ops 1. So i am decent in the mode but kinda didnt find a group anymore for doing eastereggs in following entries. This year i finally found a guy to do this in coop with (not beeing dragged throught just having a competent companion that is also pleasant to hang out with). There were some unconfortable fails going but in the end i finally got this game to 100%. A game i thought will be hell to finisgh but ended up beeing fun Little Deviants Brought my Vita und vacation with the intention to finish some stuff. Since the rarity is so low i expected this to be an annoying hell. the controls indeed were a bit annoying at times but i ended up enjoying this much more than i thought. Most annoying Unit 13 This game became very famous in my groupchat. i hated it. when i started it i played it for just a little and realize quickly it was bad. after plating it i must say i was right to do so. game i enjoyed the most Enter the gungeon When i started it i must admit i stopped simply because i was so bad in it and didnt have the motivation to get got at the time. happy i picked it back up after a friend recommended it as a good game and i loved every second of it. great great game longest hours put in Enter the gungeon about 125h in total- 110 this year after picking it back up quickest done super time force ultra game has a challange mode that was the last thing i was missing but i lost motivation on a few of the challanges (about 5 of the 50 in total left). after finally getting myself to do them it was done fairly quickley bumpiest ride voodoo dice. originally i played this when it was in psplus 10 years ago. after picking it back up the first time i stretched the maybe 8h it took over pretty much the whole year 2022. still got it done as last backlog game of the year something picked back up but didnt finish cuphead after beating only the first boss in coop originally i picked it back up this year. made it to the last boss of the game and also got that A ranking in all of the other but ended up getting distracted with something else again. maybe this year i will finally at least finish story doom eternal this kinda became a on off thing. the collectible just keep driving me out of the game again added to the backlog vanquish: the collectibles made me stop playing rocketbirds 2: played throught the story got distracted after marvels guardians of the galaxy: again collectibles mortal shell: another game i played throught and then stopped. only need one trophy for plat so i think i will motivate myself at some point nexomon: felt to much like bad version of pokemon. about 10h left. chime sharp everything else i either finished or am playing semi-active still. so in total i would say this year was a another year of backlog progress instead of adding to it. that was my year. happy hunting 9 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Well I know I got the platinum for this on the 31st of December but after a few days break I decided to go ahead and get all of the DLC out of the way... and boy am I so glad it's done, never has a game and it's controls pissed me off so much... in the final DLC that is. Goat Simulator All 83 Trophies 5th January 2023 • Completed in 1 year, 4 months I have to ask this, who made the control scheme for the f**king ship section of the last DLC (Goat Simulator: Waste Of Space) it was the most senstive controls I've ever seen, all of the steering and turning is through the right thumb stick and if you even touched it your ship would spiril out of control worse than an actor slapping someone for making a joke about his wife! I actually raged during the last DLC which is very uncommon for me I won't be using this game for the Backlog Streak of 2023 unless I don't get another game done this month but honestly.. don't finish this game if you don't have to 9 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's a good time for me to catch those up if need be. I'm all up to date. Let me know if you're likely going for the streak challenge in 2023. It's not required, just helpful to set up the spoiler in advance. I will not be, mostly because I don't know if I will be able to commit to it. I will however be trying to do so, because an aim I have for the new year is to complete more old games than new ones. Did you cross off any time consuming or skill based games that have haunted you for years? What was your proudest completion? I knocked off Bloodborne from my backlog and that tested my skill and patience. Considering that I started it because I wanted to get on the Souls-train and then found that it was as painful as everyone says. Putting it off, trying now and again, I finally bit that bullet and my ability still sucked. But after being batted around a lot by Vicar Amelia, I found my groove and the only boss that proved an issue after that was Ludwig, with several going down in one attempt. My proudest completion would be a mix of Bloodborne and Hollow Knight. I love both games for their aesthetic, gameplay, challenge and creating an immersive place to exist. What game was your white whale this year? The one that eluded completion for another year, but it's at the top of your list to finish. I could be facetious and say my entire PS3 backlog, which would be partly true. I will say however that I have unusual whales in my backlog, due to their rarity you wouldn't think they would be such a pain. Blasting Agent has a completion % of 46.89, and yet completing the last 3 missions on HARD by collecting all the gold and defeating every enemy is still beyond me. Close to the Sun is an amazing walking sim in my opinion, but I have one trophy left for completion and the completing the game without dying isn't that hard, but save-scumming doesn't seem to work and setting aside 3 hours to play through the game is not possible. Any unusual milestones reached? Like completing a backlog game for your 100th platinum, or completing a game for every console owned. Well, my second game completed in 2022 was a backlog game and my first trophy of the year was called 'Nine Tenth's of the Law'. I passed both 17,000 and 18,000 trophies in 2022 and nearly passed 19,000 but I passed that on the 5th Jan 2023. I will going for it again, there was a couple months last year where I was busy and only managed to get something complete to keep the streak going, so its helping the backlog. Nothing majorly time consuming or difficult really but got a lot of MP grinding done due to the constant sever shutdowns, this has almost forced me to play certain games - Killzone, Max Payne, Medal of Honor this year. But by far the worst was Battlefield 2042 hated every moment of it and the hazard zone trophy seemed to be an endless grind! What game was your white whale this year? Ill admit it, I had to google what "white whale" meant as its not a saying I have ever heard of before, but I have probably two - Max Payne 3 and Sniper Ghost Warrior, I finished all the MP and most of the SP stuff for the former but cant ever get myself up for the hardcore trophy and having to do the full campaign under a time limit and without dying. Nothing unusual, but got 30 plats this year and managed to tackle a lot of my PS3/4 backlog and got my overall completion up from 46% to 63.3%, hoping to be at 75% by the end of this year. However I do have a backlog of new games starting to grow and trying to raise my percentage seems to be stopping me from playing them. Horizon, GoW, Deathloop, GT7, Valhalla (had it since day one PS5). Well its been a busy start to the year with server shutdowns and I thought id try get back to adding an update monthly so here we go; History: Great Battles Medieval All 29 Trophies 6th December 2022 • Platinum in 11 years, 7 months This is a very unknown strategy game which has plagued me for the past 11 years, only ever had two final battle to complete and I had tried many time on and off over the past 11 years and never managed for some reason until now! Was really happy when I finally managed as it should never have been as hard as it was. Medal of Honor Warfighter All 51 Trophies 10th January 2023 • Platinum in 10 years, 2 months Was never as good as the other Medal of Honor on the PS3 in terms of both MP and SP, so still had a lot left to do. The MP was a grind and plagued with annoying glitches but glad to have got it done before shutdown. FIFA 17 All 45 Trophies 17th January 2023 • Platinum in 6 years, 1 week Its FIFA what else is there to say, glad ive managed to get it before its unobtainable as I have far too many other FIFA which will forever effect my completion. Medal of Honor All 51 Trophies 18th January 2023 • Platinum in 12 years, 3 months Well this was one of my all time favourite PS3 MP games when it came out, according to the starts I had played it for 60hours online which is a lot for my since I don't really do MP. Only had to go back to get the Tier 1 campaign done and I really enjoyed it and the memories it brought back. Maneater [6 months, 1 week] Actually thought this was under 6 months, & really finished it on a whim. Maneater is a carpal tunnel inducing, shark simulator. It's a ton of fun, with a little bite to it. The narration is a highlight, controls are wonky, & it brings nostalgia to when I played Jaws Unleashed endlessly on summer nights. Sharks are my favorite creatures, so this was a must play. Thought I could breeze through this in a couple weekends, but took several torpedoes to the tail when Scaly Pete & my shark had it out in the final showdown. I played for fun, not strategy, so I was hopelessly using adaptations not effective in this battle. Grinding the mutagens I'd need to max out good adaptations was going to eat up a lot of time, & a singular collectible glitched out on me. The latter was luckily solved by downloading the patch update, & the former was actually only a few sessions of grinding before I managed to beat Pete. I haven't played the DLC yet, I plan to wait until it's on sale again. Hopefully, I'll have the 100% soon. On deck: Muv-Luv. Yes, that VN I've been reading off & on for ages. Well I finally finished a route on Unlimited. The second half just isn't holding my interest like Extra, but Extra took awhile to get good so I was reading everything until the end. A routes done though, so the rest will be far shorter reads. Plus, I like to finish a game on my birthday & that's next week. I'll be out of town, options are limited to handhelds. I've had the best month in terms of completion in years, and effectively written myself out of being able to participate in this years backlog challenge. So @Gretchen27 cancel this years entry. I'd have to actually add games with the intention of leaving them there until september and I don't even have the games to get me through to September in the meantime as I've been meticulously attacking this backlog. Nevertheless at the start of January, I had 15 games remaining and 87 unearned trophies. Now as we reach February I've got only 5 games remaining, with one unobtainable and one just requiring a level 100 grind. The other 3 super meat boy, super meat boy forever and unravel are certainly going to make me bash my head against the wall. Anyhow 50 trophies out of the 87 remaining means ive basically hacked 60% of my backlog off in a month. I will outline each of the games I completed as each of them were problematic and were on my backlog for years and somehow this month they've just all gone down. Anyways - I'll try and do them justice and also keep them brief. So in chronological order, Raiden V: Director's Cut All 38 Trophies 4th January 2023 • Platinum in 7 months, 2 weeks Raiden was a great game in my opinion, being a fan of arcade shooters. The hardest trophy was to complete the whole game with a particularly accuracy and survive which was no easy feat. Fortunately with conscious practice I was able to work my way through these levels and complete it. I'd recommend anyone to this game who likes that genre. I Am Bread All 35 Trophies 10th January 2023 • Platinum in 2 years, 4 months Not one word could really describe this game. This was added because a mate found it hilarious and it was a stupid hard platinum. It has been a crushing grind for a while and thanks to BushidoCypher on Youtube I've been able to use the key strategies to get through. The hardest level was the garden level which took me a good 5 or 6 hours. Once you get the hang of the controls and the placement of the bread, this one is manageable but it requires great persistence and patience. Kingdom Hearts III All 52 Trophies 18th January 2023 • Completed in 2 years, 10 months Having played most of the KH series, I was really excited for KH3. Unfortunately I could just never get into it. Despite this Square Enix's soundtrack is once again top nothc and the game is indeed absolute quality without glitches and smooth mechanics. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the story line which is just a mangled piece of garbage. Despite this, this games trophy list was rather rough with the inclusion of an expert mode that required some intense practice of boss fights. An enjoyable and rewarding experience once done. Gems of War All 114 Trophies 19th January 2023 • Completed in 6 years, 10 months This one is no doubt the highlight of the lot, almost 7 years of toil, logging in daily working for a guild on day to day events. Its helped me meet many people but the trophies that this game repeatedly drop in dlc packs being a free to play game have been nothing but excrutiating. I still need to continue this game because no doubt there will be further DLC packs. But grinding 100 troops to gold level was probably the most time consuming trophy ive just about ever done. Don't get me wrong, the troop mechanics and the way this gamer works - is overkill in terms of different game currencies but is quite beautiful in the way it works too. Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage All 15 Trophies 20th January 2023 • Completed in 3 years, 11 months A spinoff before the big events of KH3. I'd probably say not to bother with this game as a trophy list - its basically a non event, yet some of the objecties within the game requiring you not to take any damage during boss fights was painful. For anyone familiar to the KH series, its widely regarded as a spam x hack and slash, making it a fine art again to master the art of defence here. Nevertheless, after playing KH3 and feeling on top of the gameplay this was much easier to attain with a bit of discipline. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom All 63 Trophies 23rd January 2023 • Completed in 4 years, 5 months This game was a heavy RPG, that I was really not that interested in when I began playing it. I'd heard good things and to be honest the art style probably threw me off if anything. I found the quests mostly repetitive run here do that kind of nonsense. That doesn't mean the game wasn't good, just repetitive. The endgame DLC was a borderline joke however, with the level cap not being all it took to complete the game but an optimized level of equipment and strategies. The Solosseum slog grinding to floor 30 with s Ranks i hope no one ever has the pain of doing. Trackmania Turbo All 49 Trophies 24th January 2023 • Platinum in 4 years, 9 months Ahh Trackmania! 200 golds, I can do that I said. 5 years later I managed. And several stints of leaving and returning I did. The games courses are quality as is the way the game plays. But it is ultra hard, one slight touch of the control stick and thats a blown run. Hours upon hours of repeating specified tracks make this one one of muscle memory. Proud of this one. Sniper Elite 5 All 66 Trophies 25th January 2023 • Completed in 7 months, 7 hours A much easier title, and I definitely can wait for Season pass 2. Sometimes unrealistic and a mainstream list, I don't have much I really want to say about this one. Pang Adventures All 9 Trophies 27th January 2023 • Completed in 6 years, 7 months An arcade game I grew up with in the 90s, who wouldn't want to try PANG Adventures XD. Unfortunately when I added this i didn't realise just how hard the 100% would end up being. I think the deterrent is how long the levels take to complete a full run. Nevertheless after you bridge a particular skill gap and learn most of the levels, this one was attainable. To all those ex-girlfriends that wanted to complete that one with me - sorry but it was just never going to happen. I'd like to still stay active in the event, but I'm struggling to see how I can do so. I will keep checking in and updating if there's anything to update about. In the end, although I don't own the DLC, I decided I'd count the 100% when I get to fully completing it.
