Trophy Thoughts?

It looks like this is the same list as the PS3 one, only with a much better platinum name! The one additional trophy I spotted was 'Fat Cat', since cabaret clubs have been restored to this version.

So what do you guys think? Ready to spend dozens more hours in Kamurocho? :D

The Shogi and Mahjong trophies are added as well since those 2 got cut in the PS3 western version.

This list seems the same as the PS4 Asian version, some trophy requirements were lowered from the PS3 stacks, but you still have to complete every minigame in the list.

I'm waiting for physical copy, I'm currently dealing with car chase on legend, and climax battles in kiwami. Gotta do melee fight #10 and all the ultimate ones. Only after I get the plat will I play kiwami 2. Hell knows when that's gonna be so I'm in no hurry to get that bundle.

Is there no completion list in this one? What does completing the mini games entail?

It's basically getting a certain number of points, beating the AI in every game mode/difficulty.

can you give an example of what was lowered from the ps3 version?

I don't think it warrants "horrible" and it does relate to the plot somewhat.

It's a step up from PLATINUM TROPHY, anyway. :awesome:

But I have a soft spot for ones just called "Platinum Trophy".

Add to to the "waiting for physical box set" list. Still need to finish 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2. Been putting those off waiting for this.

Complete all minigames, that'll make or break me, a la Judgment, as expected, aha.

Might withhold 30 pieces of trash until after the most arduous trophies, in case I fall short, because *good gravy* does trash collection at the beach require monumental patience. Confident in my mahjong talents by now, yet I can foresee misfortune by the boatload will confound that 1-tile-conceal victory.

Anyway, since I began w/ Y3 on PS3, it feels like half an era passed since this franchise wavered in worldwide limbo. No qualms here to purchase 3 again out of respect! :D

What makes this an 8/10 Platinum difficulty game, compared to, say, Yakuza Zero (which I think was a 4 or 5?)? Looking through the trophies, it doesn't look too bad. There is no 100% Completion List trophy.

It has the Minigame completion trophy which means you'll have to complete the minigames. While the more luck-based minigames like Majong, Poker, etc, only ask you to reach x amount of points (so they should be easier) the skill-based minigames like Batting, Pool, etc, ask you to complete them by beating the AI on all modes/difficulty (if you platted Kiwami then you'll experience the Expert Rotation Pool AI when doing Haruka's Requests). This seems fine but there's the fact that Y3 was the first Yakuza game on the PS3 (so the first in a new generation at the time) so it has, at times, some clucky controls. Also, some minigames were made easier in newer games. For example, in Y3 the batting minigame on the highest difficulty doesn't have a crosshair so unless you remember/find out where the crosshair is you won't know where the ball will hit. When I played Y3 on my PS3 (it was the last Yakuza game I completed so I had already experience with the minigames) I had a hard time with the Karaoke minigame even though I never had an issue with it on the newer games and I believe it's because the timing for the button presses is more precise in Y3.

The combat I also found harder mainly because bosses had the annoying habit of guarding all the time even mid-combo. So fights lasted much longer than they should since the constant guarding made me slowly take their health away.

The game basically has some gameplay issues due to its age. It's still fine and a lot of fun and I would even say you might only notice those issues if you happened to play the newer games where the gameplay was much improved over time.
