MoreThanAble
Hello, as someone in the UK I will not get a PS5 till the 19th. If anyone who has both the PS4 and PS5 versions if you were to transfer your save to the new console will the trophies auto pop? Would be great if someone could let me know as then I will hold off playing till the 19th when the new console arrives
grifteskymfning
Many of the games gets you a free update, but it seems that most won't let you transfer your save. The only one that really confirmed it so far has been Days Gone. What that means for autopop? I have no idea.

igs63
I guess fact is we won't know for sure until the PS5 releases and people start testing it out. All we can do is speculate at the moment. Personally, I want AC Valhalla to be my first PS5 trophy, and at this stage I don't want to have to complete a separate ps4 list as well, so I'm waiting, despite the pain of it even being delivered in the mail on the 9th, a day earlier than the release haha. Days Gone is BC not a separate PS5 version so it won't have a new trophy list at all and you can use your saves with all BC games. UbiSoft launched cross progression so you will be able to carry over PS4 progress to PS5 in their games. Miles Morales has cross save and as mentioned above SM Remastered will via a future update. Sackboy will have cross save but again coming via a future update. Certain things cross over with NBA 2K21 and the EA Sports games. But nobody has covered what it will do with trophies yet either because of embargos or nobody that has a PS5 yet cares about something like that.

Agreed that it's odd nobody has covered this. Hopefully in coming days when a lot of PSNProfiles community gets hold of them the questions will be answered.

matt_allen
I transferred my save from PS4 to Xbox series x and while the save worked it didn’t unlock the trophy I earned on PS4
MoreThanAble
Interesting that XBOX transfer didn't pop trophies as this may be the same with other Ubi games going forward so thank you for checking.. If someone is able to test ps4 to ps5 to see if trophies unlock that would be great. On 11/9/2020 at 10:24 PM, Hayabusa85 said:
Montradon
I'm very interested to know that too. Right now, I make a saves in Valhalla right before the PS4 trophy pops, to redo that on PS5 if there is no autopop. For Watch Dogs I have to replay the game unfortunately. I can confirm the situation here as I've always been primarily Xbox (obviously love PlayStation too but I use it more for Sony exclusives, about 30% of my gaming time). If the game is Smart Delivery (Xbox supported free upgrade), it is a shared list with no stack. Most games seem to be Smart Delivery, which is effectively free upgrading/downgrading both ways supported by Xbox. It's pretty great IMO. Through Smart Delivery you install your Xbox One disc/digital game, your Series X|S recognises it, and gives you a free Xbox Series X|S upgrade (and vice versa). For example, if you are getting an Xbox Series X|S for Christmas you can play Valhalla now, get 1/2 way through and earn say 450/1000G, and when you open your Xbox Series X|S you can just continue but with the next-gen enhanced version with all achievements/saves carried over. All 1st party exclusives will be Smart Delivery (Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Ori & The Will of the Wisps, etc.) and most (not all) 3rd party developers are following this plan too - Ubisoft, EA, Gearbox, iD, etc. If the publisher is charging for the next-gen upgrade/version, then it is opting out of Smart Delivery and there is a new stack like with PS5 games. For example, NBA 2K21 and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition both have two lists - one for Xbox One, and one Xbox Series X|S, because it doesn't support Smart Delivery and you have to buy the game again. Control: Ultimate Edition is going to be another example I believe. https://www.exophase.com/platform/xbox-series/ shows this the clearest with their tag system. Overall, I prefer Xbox's cross-gen system. Whilst I would have stacked some of my ultimate favourite games had they offered themselves, I wouldn't have wanted to spend all my time on this gen just replaying the last 1-2 years of Xbox One games (not that anyone is forcing you too, I guess). I want to play next gen experiences! Appears that irrespective of whether an upgrade is free or not, you get a new stack w/ PS5 which seems very odd to me. How will saved progress work? What is the point if you have to replay the entire game again for trophies anyway? Also makes new DLC's for older games more straightforward, as I can just play them once on my new consoles without worrying about 2 stacks each time. bikeman223
Interesting, still can't rule this out as being handled differently by some other devs. Guess we need to see how Spider-Man, MK11 and Borderlands 3 handle it.
DXCubfan
I started Valhalla on PS4 but have only earned the trophy for the prologue. I’m going to wait until my ps5 arrives and make frequent saves. Then I can transfer the save and not have to replay the whole game again to get all of the trophies in both games.
Kulzyc
No autopop means people are going to have trophies popping out of orders. Not really a big deal since you didn't steal someone else save, right?

This is going to become really messy. I get it if you have to buy the game again because they don't support upgrading, but if they do, it makes no sense for them to have 2 trophy lists.
jpfield
This is why I didn’t want to play a ps4 version of the game that I know was getting a ps5 version of the game. I didn’t think that trophies will auto pop so you will need to play the portion of the game again to get them to pop anyway. And still need to play the previous version of the game to finish that version if you care about incomplete trophy lists.

On the one hand I thought the same but on the other hand I don't want to wait two weeks until I can start playing Valhalla on the 19th. I really hope my approach with saving just before the trophy will work out.
MohandGamer7
What about online games like Call of duty: black ops Cold War? Maybe it auto pops the multiplayer trophies and/or Zombies! any ideas?

Its really annoying that they don't share a list. Good thing I have exams now so I can't play till the 27th so I am going straight into the PS5 with the PS4 disc. I hope dlc and such is also cross platform without issues. Side note: Has anyone tried using games from another region other than their main account on the ps5? It works exactly like the PS4 right
JEDLander
I was hoping that Valhalla, Miles Morales etc. would have a shared trophy list like Persona 5 so I can get a head-start but meh, I still got some games to finish before the 19th. I'm not into the whole 'trophy stacking' thing
Lordidude
I would not recommend doing that. The CRT is going to ban you from the leaderboards.
