I really like the concept of these threads you've made. It's helped me keep an eye on what I'm spending and honestly it's helped me slow down a lot of my impulse purchases. Only spent about $200 in 2021, so I hope to stay in that same range for 2022.

March:

Pain (PS3) DLC - $45

April

Among Us (PS4/PS5) - $4

I’m going to sign up for this as I’m rather interested to see just how much money I spend in one year on games. I used to pre-order a lot of games so that I could play them day one as I didn’t game as much as I do now but with a decent size backlog and these days spending all my spare time gaming I almost never pre-order anymore (that some games not working very well at launch and with so many games getting DLC that I would rather wait till all DLC is out before playing it). Of course I already know February will most likely be my most expensive month as I have Horizon: Forbidden West and Elden Ring Collectors Edition pre-ordered

Going to do this again as it does help, but I already have 3 games pre-ordered which is rare for me to have any. That'll bump my purchases up a good chunk for the first quarter. Hopefully though that slows my spending down.

I'm going to aim to spend less this year, than I did last year. We'll see how that goes.

Hoping to get a PS5 sometime this year though, but I have my doubts. They haven't been in stock for most of 2021 around these parts, and I ain't paying 800 bucks for a console.

January

  • Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins - 8€
  • FMV Collection 1 - 21€
  • Tails of Iron - 19€
  • Leisure Suit Larry Wet Dreams Dry Twice - 12€
  • Twelve Minutes - 20€
  • Aragami 2 - 28€

Total spent: 108€

Sold games: 4€

I'm definitely hoping to spend a lot less this year. I really don't want to know how much I spent in 2021, but I'll definitely keep track of what I've spent in 2022.

"I'm definitely hoping to spend a lot less this year"

Having said that, I've already bought copies of Transformers Devastation and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan...great start! lol

Total Spend: $77.28 AU

I haven't thought about it before but I guess it may be a fun idea to participate in this thread this year to find out how much I spend on gaming (and to keep track of what I'm buying as I'm not great at it, which my first purchase this year confirms). I am definitely not a big spender and I hardly ever buy games at full price, but still, let's see if I will be suprised at the end of the year once I see what it all adds up to. All games will be digital unless stated otherwise.

So far...

January

1/2 - Griftlands (PS4) - 56,28PLN (~$14) (I signed up for an event with this game thinking I had it, but it turns out I didn't, so just picked it up)

1/2 - Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (PS4) - 67,60PLN (~$16,5) (the game was recommended to me as a great arcade racing game, I will definitely play it at some point)

--

Total spent: 123,88PLN (~$30,5)

$0.00 so far and I didn't spend much last year on games. This year I'm going to buy games around the holiday sales. Plus, I'm committed more to my backlog this year (my birthday maybe a different story lol). So, outside of my birthday potentially, I'll hold off until November/December this year.

This sounds pretty interesting so sign me up!

I do spend really much money on games but my backlog is huge! Not even for Playstation alone but my Switch game pile is so high I probably would need 5 years to finish that alone ?

I think it'll be good to see how bad my impulse purchases are - not that I think it'll change a thing. I'm in too deep already ?

But for the record: So far 0,00€!

You can create an open Google Sheet and people can track the spending there. Something really simple and easy to follow: Date of the purchase, username, game, price (you can set requirements for people to provide the price in EUR/USD/GBP as the most used currencies so you don't have to convert everything), physical/digital. Just an idea so you don't have to do everything manually yourself, gazdavis11.

Thanks for doing this.

I'll commit to tracking my spend here. I hope this will help me to spend less throughout 2022. I've also preordered a few games, but I won't count them here since I paid for them in 2021.

Jan

FAR: Changing Tides (Pre-order) $19.24

Current Expenditure: $19.24 USD

Nice thread, I like the idea ?

Standing so far at a whopping 0,99€ spend for Oxenfree (via the January sale, as you can imagine given the amount) - so far my best spent euro of the year ?

I've created a Google docs spreadsheet and all people who have made purchases so far are on there, link is in the opening post.  You'll see there is missing information on some of your entries due to not having that information to hand such as platform.  You will also notice that there are columns for completing these games, giving them a rating once completed and any additional comments you may have.  Post your completions as a new post with a rating and any comments you'd like to add, a recommendation perhaps, or whether trophies are glitched etc and I'll update. You can edit your previous posts with the missing info and I'll add that in too if you wish.

@RoastedPeanutI haven't added you yet as there isn't a breakdown in your costs of your games bought, if you do that I can add them in.

Everything updated up to this point...

Honestly all these threads have done for me is shine a light on how ridiculous my yearly game spending is lol. ?

I appreciate them none the less and I'll be participating again for my 3rd year in a row. I've dubbed 2022 the year of backlog cleaning for me so I'm going to try and hold myself more accountable with my spending. Goal for the year is to spend no more that $1,000 on games and drop my backlog significantly. Here's my purchases for the year thus far...

2022 Game Purchases

January

01/02 Just Ignore Them (PS4/Vita) Digital- $1.50

01/02 Flipping Death (PS4) Digital- $3

01/02 Aragami: Shadow Edition (PS4) Digital- $5

01/02 Kona (PS4) Digital- $3

01/02 Mark of the Ninja: Remastered (PS4) Digital- $9

01/02 Celeste (PS4) Digital- $5

01/02 My Big Sister (PS4/Vita) Digital- $1.50

Grand Total: $28 (USD)
