[EVENT] PSNP Kaleidoscope Challenge! 2023 [ENDED]

Been awhile, but I have another update! For Pink we have Unpacking, a cute little cozy game where you do just that - unpack. Which, when you've moved as often as I have in my life, isn't really all that cozy haha but it does sort of give me a sense of nostalgia. I'm also going to be moving again around March, so I'm sure that nostalgic feeling will wear off quite quickly, but considering there's no dialogue or point-blank hey this is the story of this person whose boxes are being unpacked it does give you a lot of room to think about the types of items you may have carried from home to home in your life. And then there was Black with Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memories, which I think is the only Kingdom Hearts game that doesn't have a transparent background. I'm actually kinda mad at myself for how much I liked it, considering I only played it for the lore and there's maybe an hour of (though, annoyingly enough it is really important information). But man oh man the grind was real. Any trophy that's some version of 'defeat x amount of enemies' always is, but pair that with getting so many full combo chains and playing through every single song three times minimum and let's just say it's a good thing Kingdom Hearts has really great music.

Yellow finished with Cyberpunk 2077 and I was going to have Berserk for maroon but that turned out to be one of the most mind numbingly boring games I've ever played soo I'm just going to throw in this Grid DLC in that spot to finish out this card : ) Probably could do a 3rd card with DLC's by the end of the year but idk Im good with just these 2 I think. Depending on how closely you want to 'match' the example tile (for some reason, it bugs me when mine don't match very well), then I think a lot of the 'gold' thumbnails look the best:

But it really depends on what kind of games you like. I've checked your profile and you seem to mostly play racing games, first-person shooters and platformers. So perhaps just click on the 'Racing' 'FPS' and 'Platform' genres here on PSNProfiles, and pick a game that can pass as Tan.

A few more games added since I last dropped by here!

 

- My blue game is Naruto UNS - a remaster that definitely feels it's age. It was a nice nostalgic trip but not one I would recommend to anyone who's not played it before.

- For orange I played Cat Quest! I loved this little adventure RPG a lot and very much looking forward to playing #2. It's short and sweet and very much worth the time it takes to complete

- And finally my pink entry is Disgaea 6, ultimately I couldn't recommend this game either, it's easily the weakest in the series imo and on the whole not that enjoyable for the majority of the time it takes - very disappointing! Though at least it could be used for almost any colour on the grid 😂

 

Next up is probably Sonic Superstars for one of the greens, and Death's Door for Tan?

I just finished Marvel's Spider-Man for Red.

I swear I didn't go for it because everyone else (well, a lot of ppl anyway) did. Originally I picked it for the Didn't Half-Ass It event for the the DLCs (which I'm about to tackle).

Anyway, as far as the game goes, it was good but I didn't find it great. It didn't really pick up till the final chapter I thought. I got the game last year on sale and I did hear a lot of good things about it but it just didn't click all that much with me. But then again I have grown out of superheroes so maybe that's it. The game was still enjoyable and I'm going to see what the DLCs offer but I'm not going to run out to buy Miles Morales or Spider-Man 2 anytime soon.

 

 

For my final game I got Saints Row: The Third (Remastered) but probably won't start it till next month. I should be able to finish it up by the end of the year (most likely sooner)... and complete my first card.

Been procrastinating my update, but I managed to get 3 more games onto my card. 14/16 now!

 

First up is Sayonara Wild Hearts. A wonderful game, and it was a joy to play with it's wonderful visuals and I added a few of the songs to my music playlist to enjoy later! The game play is basically an auto-runner, but you use the music to time the obstacles. You definitely feel like a bad ass when you get a perfect run going.

 

Next is Kentucky Route Zero, another game in Annapurna's publishing list, that I figured I should get to. Honestly, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I love story games, but it includes some content that is sometimes a little too "arty" to be fully enjoyable. Like the boring stage-play, where you play a person bored by the play. Yep, I was bored alright. I did like the melancholy atmosphere the game provided, the characters are well written and some of the set pieces are incredible. Probably won't replay it again in the future, but I appreciate what the game wanted to accomplish.

 

Oneshot is a game that has been on my radar for a while, a story about a kitty-guy trying the return the sun back to the world by plugging a light bulb back in. Oneshot, which came out before Undertale, deals with similar themes, but does so with more a focus on charm than humor. If Undertale was "cringe" to you, Oneshot is a lot more bearable. There's no combat featured in the game, as most of the gameplay is finding items and combining them to solve puzzles, a kind of pseudo-point and click adventure. it's a sweet, cute adventure that tugs on the heartstrings and I'm glad I played it.

Hello fellow event..ers...ees? Eventereees. I joined in my 1st event this week - Trophies to Fight Cancer, and had fun getting involved with the community, so I figured I would get in on some more action.

 

Big thanks to The Good Doctor himself for putting this whole thing together, and the Pink Robot for his colour tool. I had way more fun than I should have filling that baby in!

Hi everyone, 

 

I've completed my second rainbow by finishing Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery and Gravity Rush Remastered. I started Gravity Rush Remastered 7 years ago, but never finished the story. I decided to restart it and I made it to the end this time. Including the DLC. I enjoyed the game and also the challenge that it gave. Behind the frame is a cute little game that I quite enjoyed. The story was interesting in the way it was told. 

 

I'm going to start a new rainbow, but I'm not sure if I will be able to finish it for the end of the year. I really like this challenge, so I will give it a try at least.

Finally adding some new games to the card that I've been working on for the last few months!

 

Pink: Unpacking

 

Great game to relax with that'll just take a few hours to beat, so it's perfect for after a day at work. Glad to have got this on Premium since I'd had my eye on it for a while. Really liked how this game told the story of the woman in this story, from her moving between locations and the people she moves in with, and the personalities of the people she lives with. I might move this one to another card at some point, since I want a more pink entry really, and I'm thinking Flipping Death would be a good fit for that.

 

Light Green: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PS3

 

Took me 12 years and 10 months to finally get the 100% in this one. After going back to do the spec ops missions last year on veteran, which are definitely the hardest part of the game, I decided to go back and do the campaign on veteran this week. Some sections were a bit tricky like the one in Loose Ends where you have to protect a download for about 5 minutes in a house where guys are just constantly swarming you, and then making it down a hill to an LZ with mortars firing in your path. Loved this game though, and super excited to get some more COD plats, I'm thinking MW3 on PS3 potentially for my next COD plat. It's nice to get platinums on these old games that I played the heck out of as a kid. Always played a lot of COD multiplayer, pretty generic but loved it at the time, and still do. A lot of nostalgia for this game 😊.

 

Green: Borderlands 2 DLC: Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary

 

OK, so BL2 is such a great game, but my God is this DLC disappointing. Glad I didn't have to pay about 12 quid for this one, since it's just super repetitive, with no cool missions in it, and the map in this one just looks like another area in BL2 just with green plants around it, great 😅. It's the only BL2 DLC I wasn't super keen on really, but I know I have Moxxii DLC in BL1 to do yet, which I'm totally not putting off... still. 

 

So 1 more colour to go for my first complete card! Not sure what I want to do for maroon, I was thinking Evoland but I'd like some more recommendations though if anyone has any, since I'm thinking about maybe starting a second card soon 😊.

I know I said this would be my last card this year, but I'm thinking about doing a 4th card since this one is practically complete and I already have so many other games to use. We will see. 😊
Today I'm including "Unpacking" for pink, for now. If I play something more pink I will change it to tan.

Also, including "Syphon Filter 3" for green, the color matches perfectly.

And finally, I completely forgot to check the DLCs of games I've completed months ago and only now I found this "Hitman 3" DLC (for completing Hitman 2 missions in H3) which is a perfect match for maroon.

The last three colors will take some time.

A cool, if flawed, game from Wolfeye - the indie studio founded by Raphael Colantonio (former founder and head of Arkane) - Weird West is a strange blend of immersive sim, isometric(ish) tactical shooter, and choose-your-own-adventure narrative...

...that is cool in a lot of the right ways, even if it does leave a bit to be desired in the execution of the combat!

 

The story is good and the characters are cool though - and the world building is great, so more than enough to draw me back for a second go around on PS5

That could work, thanks! I have a hard time telling apart blue and green sometimes tbh, lol. I'll update it since I have one that could work for light blue.

Update to my first card:


Pink - art of rally. - I was looking to play this game for a long while, and I wasn't disappointed! Really cute and stylish rally game with absolutely amazing soundtrack, if you love synthwave you'll adore this game, only thing I didn't like as much was the fact you don't really need to "race" since you can be last and still qualify for next event, it makes the game kinda pointless, but I think it's more about the journey through the eras of rally cars, rather than competition. Trophy-wise it was mostly chill, there was 1 grindy trophy (Finish 1000 events), one that's somewhat difficult (Finish first on master difficulty) and one that was somewhat buggy (Finish a stage with severe damage), other than that, it was pretty straight forward, just finish the career mode, find all collectables on 5 free roam maps, some misc trophies (Getting enough mileage with one car, finishing an event in every weather condition etc.) and that's pretty much it, platinum is yours! Overall I think this game is pretty good, very fun, doesn't overstay it's welcome and has some really great "vibes".

A great looking, hand-animated coming-of-age type high-school story, set in the months before a looming apocalypse!

 

It's got some Life is Strange vibes, though a little more wholesome, and a little more rhythm-gamey, but it has a lot of very endearing characters, a lot of good original music, some nice writing and performances, and some really excellent visuals...

 

...though the trophy list is a bit grind-heavy for these kind of games!

 

 

Fits Deep Purple down to a tee, so that's where it goes!
