Popular Post MetalFearbringer
Hi guys, Just received this message from Play Asia: Dear Customer, This is an update about order We know you've been waiting patiently for the item "Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft". We have received information and unfortunately, there is no physical release of this game. We are hoping for your understanding on this matter. Regarding this matter, we have now removed the item from your order. You may check it by logging in to your Playasia account. If you have another item in mind, kindly provide us with the product link, and we will gladly change your order. If you have already paid for your order and would like a refund, please choose on the options below where the refund should be processed. This is another blow to the physical media enthusiastics. Really sad about it as I own all Tomb Raider games and have a dedicated shelf just for TR and was really looking forward to own and play it but I guess I'll be skipping it, not really a fan of "borrowing" digital media. I wish companies would have physical versions even if a tad more expensive for people that enjoy consuming and owning media this way. What do you guys think? I hate digital exclusives so will wait until there's a massive discount, before pulling the trigger on one of them.
Zephrese
Not surprising, but disappointing regardless. 😕 Hopefully we'll get something in the future, even if just through LRG or some other manner. Edited January 26 by Zephrese

Popular Post MetalFearbringer
It is disappointing indeed. Again, I wished companies would be more considerate when it comes to physical releases. Ideas: - Make physical a tad more expensive than digital - Release physical 6 months after initial release - Have collectors edition for physical only I would be ok with these kind of compromises. But greed and laziness seems to be taking over gaming world unfortunately.

That’s generally how I approach non-physical releases. 1 hour ago, MetalFearbringer said: It is disappointing indeed. But greed and laziness seems to be taking over gaming world unfortunately. I have always felt that digital should be priced lower than physical. I’m not a huge fan of small releases of collectors editions. It’s ok in select cases, but not a viable alternative to physical releases in general.

Any kind of major discount will do if it also applies to the PS Plus Essentials tier, since I have zero interest in the other tiers.

Cerber108
But people will buy it nontheless for full price.
Popular Post FishOfPain
So that's another game I'm skipping then. I don't really get it, if turds like Crash Dummy and that Skull Island game can get standard retail releases, how come they skip the disc versions for games that people actually want to buy? I think it's even more odd in cases like this and the extremely limited PS print of FF Pixel Remasters where the target audience is mostly among those who grew up with these games; older gamers and retro enthusiasts is probably the biggest group who still wants physical media.

Cloud_Squall78
That's a shame, guess I'm waiting for $20 or less unless a $40 physical edition gets announced in the meantime.
iriihutoR84
LimitedRunGames is owned by Embracer and so is Tomb Raider. I'd like to imagine it could happen in the future after they've gotten their digital sales.

This is a strategy to have LRG publish the physical release later.
Don_Chipotle
Shame because many people are expecting this game, guess the idea of having a physical copy can give you a certain feeling of nostalgia when everyone got their first TR game.

AvengedEvil
I'm pretty sure the scalpers from LRG will release an overpriced physical edition later this year. Edited January 26 by AvengedEvil Typo
Viper
That figures. I almost pre-ordered this from the PS Store right after Christmas to at least take advantage of that 10% discount. But was like "what am I doing? I want this on disc", and stropped. I guess now I need to hope LRG does it...I've never bought anything from them, but this one might be the exception.
kenseizenkai
What a shame... You can always count on Embracer Group to fuck things up.

I get why people poo-poo on the digital-only future we're headed in and for the most part, are already in, but I'm not going to sacrifice and miss out playing games I want to play just because they're digital only. That's just not a valid enough reason for me. With that said, considering this is a remaster of classic games from a bygone era where most of the people that would be interested in these games from this era are hardcore physical media only enthusiasts and will not budge whatsoever on this mindset, they messed up mightily by not offering a physical option and it will destroy the sales for it. This is not the kind of game you'd want to test out going digital-only with.
alexandra-jane09
As it happens I pre-ordered the digital on the store that was discounted for Plus subscribers, however I would of liked a physical version for PS4 or something even if just to have in a collection. We are the older gamers that played these games in our 20's [ speaking for myself here as some may have been younger ]. I think Digital only will only cause problems eventually so I don't agree with it [ licencing rights etc ] , the same with AI, I mean most of us a playing the Horizon series and look what happens when you put AI in the hands of bad power hungry people.
