Guest
Mafia Definitive Edition Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Didn't expect to love this game nearly as much as I did. Definitely my favorite of the 3 Mafia games. Continues (or begins?) the tradition of the series to have a well told story above anything else. Popular Post WayfarerFox
Mad Max #190 Halls of Valhalla Time to Platinum: 96 hours 21 minutes | Difficulty: 5/10 | Enjoyment: 9/10 Overview Okay so this game you start off in the big nothing or close to it. A term for most people in this apocalyptic wasteland to stay away from. You play as Max a man hellbent on just calling it a day as peacefully as he can. You start off driving his car black on black and having a fight. Unfortunately this fight takes a toll on Max. He loses his car, becomes injured and gets left for dead in the desert. He awakes to a dog licking his face and struggling to find some water. Soon after he meets Chumbucket. Someone who see's worth in Max and more importantly a car. He constantly refers to max as a saint and his car an angel. You two make a pact to build the best car so Max can drive it out into the big nothing. Essentially this game is about building a car but there's a lot more to it than that. It's quite hard to explain what his intentions are without giving away any details and the like. So that's the best way I could try to explain it. Gameplay Okay so gameplay there isn't anything too fancy or technical about it honestly and there's where it shines for me. It's simplicity is what make it a good game. You could say it follows what most companies do with their games these days. Big open map, get something from one point, destroy this camp, kill this boss etc etc. Not necessarily a bad thing but the thing about Mad Max is that it's good and fun to play BUT it does get very very repetitive fast. You essentially do the same thing over and over. Max is a very quiet person so when driving around or in combat or anything he barely says anything and there's not much of a soundtrack to go with it. So in a sense you could say with all these things happening it does kinda still feel empty in some aspects. The combat you could refer it to the batman formula. Not as technically and precise as that but still a good, more realistic take on it. You can fight, reverse attacks, use your shotgun, parry weapons, use shivs etc. Combat is one of the best things about the game but sometimes it does feel a little broken when doing stuff. Driving is simple really, you can customise your car however you want and you have to do missions or clear our camps to get the parts you need to upgrade strongholds and car upgrades and stuff. It's a very simple game but it works really well.Characters There isn't much to say honestly about characters because there isn't really any meaningful dialogue bar the story and it's only a couple of people. Max is a very quiet and reserved person. Not so much in the fact he's shy but because he's probably got more sense than anyone in the game although he's emotionally mush. He has no regard for anything and in this world that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Every person you come across is batshit crazy and it makes sense for what the world is. Max is the most sane insane person there is and that's whats always made him unique in the films and the games. Chumbucket honestly, the best way to describe him is a technically gifted Gollum. The Magnum Opus is his precious and he will do anything for it to be safe and in a working condition. He's your companion for most of the game and he probably talks most than anyone. Mainly just commenting on convoys approaching, any enemies, max leaving the car etc. I guess you could count Hope has semi normal but she wanted to marry Max within the first like minute of meeting him. So I guess not, she could tell he was different and she was right. The other characters at the strongholds and the enemies are quite unique but they don't have much to say other than they are batshit crazy. Fun to see Yuri play Stank Gum though.Trophies For the most part, trophies are really simple. Most of them are for collection and doing everything along with story missions. The main one you will have a problem with and it's not so much of a problem if you keep on top of it and try to get them done as soon as you possibly can is all of the challenge tropheis for Up to the Task. The Combat ones are completely fine and so are the wasteland ones but there are reports that some camps when completed dont count towards the tracker on the game so the best advice I can give and this is what I did to counter that is after every 2 scavenger locations I saved over the two next autosave slots and kept repeating and repeating. That way if a camp did not register I did not have far to go back and could just do it again but thankfully I had absolutely no issues with this game. The platinum will soon be unobtainable due to a challenge in the wasteland category which needs you to gather 500 and then 2000 scrap from scrap crews while being offline and off the game. The developers/publishers are soon closing the servers so those challenges will not be able to completed which means that the platinum will be unobtainable due to not being able to get every task completed. Other than the challenges the trophies are all pretty easy. They just take a long long time. Conclussion If you want this platinum you will have to start it soon. The severs go down at the end of this month (October, 2020) You will need to sink some hours in to even get the scrap crews and then you have to wait patiently offline by playing other stuff so it is doable in the future that should be your main priority now if you don't want to miss out on the platinum. I've had this game for years on my playstation and I hadn't planned on starting it just yet. I played it on Xbox when it first came out and I really enjoyed it then. I wasn't an achievement hunter or anything as much as I am now so I did more this time around. It's a game I really like. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea and it's always going to be one of the games that is either loved or hated. Cult Classic maybe? is that the right term? Just like the movies I guess. Some great ideas and the like, the only issue is that it gets really repetitive. I hope there's a sequel to the game because it kinda ended open ended. Things happened in the story that made Max angry and not do some stuff so would be nice to see what kind of sequel they could come up with. I doubt it though.
Popular Post kRiZz_93
Anarchy: Rush Hour System achieved on: PS3 Difficulty: 2/10 Overall Enjoyment: 3/10 The game overall is very arcade styled and offers a wide variety of cars each of which are categorized into classes depending on the power level. There is a few modes to choose from inside of the singe player campaign of which includes: Deathmatch / Circuit / Sprint / Top Speed / Knockout Race / Stunts Race / Checkpoint Race and lastly Competitions that pits you against rival clubs, these events normally consist of some unique mission types like Drag Race etc tailored to the rival clubs strengths. Of course it wouldn't be a racing game without free-roam and Anarchy: Rush Hour does have it but there really isn't anything to do, the only reason why you would even bother entering free-roam is when you are waiting till a new mission comes through or if you wanted to platinum the game as you can attempt to go grab the trophies for reaching 999km/h and crashing into the monorail train. Multiplayer is present in this game too, both in the form of split-screen and online, each has an allocated trophy/s attached to it meaning you'll need another controller and an online partner to complete the platinum; bare that in mind. Game-wise the game isn't very good, handle of the cars is dodgy to say the least, leaving you with a very jarring experience. I get that the game is old now but other arcade racing games around this period of time simply was much better and felt more like an complete package. The physics is a double edged sword really, it is absolutely horrible at times and hilarious to watch other times, heck without the odd laughter here and there from being catapulted yards from hitting a tiny curb at 60mph, I doubt I would have completed this; plus you know completionist OCD haha ? Final thoughts: If you haven't started playing it yet then I would probably pass on it, but considering the price is quite cheap then I guess it's borderline okay to try; just make sure you find a online partner to win 5 of each multiplayer mode and the rest is a walk in the park.
Popular Post yellowwindow7
The N. Trepid Crash Bandicoot! / Crash Bandicoot i gonna put this game on my list of so good to play but one of the worst and most tedious when it comes to the platinum trophy/100%, it's a list where i put games like Nioh, Rayman Origins and Legends, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, World of Final Fantasy, Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicles etc... you get the idea. and also i don't know how the hell did this game is considered a kids game, don't get's me wrong, i grew up before the ps1 era where every game at the time made Demon or Dark Souls a girly kiddy games, but i mean playing it blindly by just wanted to beats it on any% is a chore and i bet a lot's of people saw the BS in the game and decided it won't worth the the headache, aka. #RAGE QUIT! let alone to platinum or 100%, i was talking about this insane Trilogy. i did played the original ps1... um some of it at least ( played a pirated copy on a modded ps1 and the copy lets you play til the second island as the game will crash and took you to a blank black screen when you load one of the levels on the second island ) but what i'm trying to say is i did tasted the original, and i gotta say this remake kinda trashed the responsive controls, physics and platforming of the original ps1 game, crash or the new addition of Coco now is so heavy to controls. and this is also where i learn about the " Pill Shaped Collision Boxes " where if you landed on a platform chances that you will slip and fall... explain why this very old game i used to play as a kid on the ps1 called 40 Winks " that from the looks of it, heavily used this system " frustrated me really much that i violently removed the disc off my ps1 and throw the disk across the room and got shattered to tiny pieces once it hit my drawer... serve that disc right! ? the platinum is only possible if you do the following.. 1- beat both bridges levels " Road to Nowhere & The High Road to 100% " by collecting the crystals and get gold or platinum relics. 2- get the gold or platinum relics in " The Lab " doing these and i 100% assure you you will gonna plat this game, not even the levels with the colored crystals where you need to break every boxes without dying is gonna top the share amount of rage inducing and frustration these three levels gonna cause you. crash 2 is next on the disc, at least i'm a bit familiar with that as i already 100% that game a couple of times on the ps1 days.
Popular Post JoaLoft
#233 - Mafia: Definitive Edition It was only three days ago that I mentioned how I had to trudge through a river of digital stinky goo when I finished another game's trophy list which shall remain nameless. The scars are still healing. But oh boy, what a joy it is to talk about my latest platinum trophy! No sarcasm included. 2020 has been a dreadful year for countless reasons, but the gaming remakes turned out to be a silver lining in this year's events. Case in point: Mafia: Definitive Edition's announcement came as a total surprise, and in hindsight a pleasant one. The remake is even better than the original, and pulling that off from the perspective of a fan of the original takes skill and passion. In Mafia: Definitive Edition, you take on the role of cabby Thomas Angelo, who leads a pretty a totally insignificant life trying to make ends meet. One evening when he's waiting for a fare, two gangsters (Sam and Paulie) of the Salieri crime family crash their car in a chase, and force Thomas at gunpoint to save them in his cab. It doesn't take long until Tommy (as he's referred to mostly throughout the game) gets forced to pick a side in the crime war slowly holding the fictitious city of Lost Heaven hostage. The promise of big bucks as a mafioso over small dimes as a taxi driver lures him in and he joins Don Salieri's ranks as the don takes on his rival, Don Morello. Throughout the story and the 1930s, the war between both dons escalates disproportionately and Tommy's actions as a mafia member start to make him question his morals and beliefs, torn between what he must do for a family he has sworn allegiance to, and another family he cherishes. That's all I'm willing to tell about the story, but suffice it to say that it's a classic tale of loyalty, brotherhood, love and betrayal. One you'll grow to love, even more so if you have played the original. The climax still feels just a tad rushed, it could have used one more extra chapter to build up the tension more gradually, but apart from that: tight pacing. The remake also includes beautiful graphics, brand-new acting performances (which are even an improvement over the original ones), a better script which deepens the characters (the relationships between Paulie and Tommy, and Tommy and Sarah are being elevated to new heights, for instance) and a brand-new immersive cinematic music score. While still remaining loyal to the original (yes, that's an organized crime pun, everyone laugh now). All-round great, I loved every second of it, in both playthroughs. I can only hope that if a Mafia IV is in the works, it will have this level of quality when it gets shipped. Most frustrating trophy - Made Man "Made Man" is the gold trophy you'll unlock if you play the entire story on "Classic Mode", which means tougher enemies, less HUD indicators, ammo gets lost in a previous clip if you reload, health kits heal less, cars drive much more realistically, and police forces will intervene without delay if you break the law in any way, including breaking the speed limit, running a red light or even driving erratically on the road. The biggest challenge for most players will be the race portion. During the story, you'll need to replace a driver in a race who has been incapacitated with a lot of money on the betting line. On Classic Mode, the opponents drive near-perfect laps, making it significantly more difficult than on Medium level. And you need to finish first by the end of the third and final lap, there's no room for second place or worse. Take note if you still have to beat this, but the "ram" option is worth its weight in gold: it helps to speed up quicker on straight sections and cut corners. Firefights can get a bit tricky too, but they're not too bad. All-in-all, it's worth experiencing the entire story multiple times. It really is that enjoyable. You'll still need to deal with collectibles just like in Mafia II, but this time around they're not a hassle to collect (*). It's not just the fact you're picking up cool magazine covers or fox statues instead of almost 200 (!) "Wanted" posters. Cruising a 1930s city bathing in sunlight just has a charming allure, which made it almost relaxing to drive from one spot to the next to pick up everything. If you are interested in picking up this game - and you damn well should be - consider getting all three Mafia games in the trilogy bundle. You'll get all three games, yes that also means this brand-new remake, including all DLC for the price of a single game. And this remake stands tall above the other two, it provides the best experience and gangster story of all Mafia games to date. Now, how is that an offer you could possibly refuse? (*) Except Gangsters Monthly #5. That magazine can die in a fire.
Popular Post Isle-of-Miku
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown The first 50% of the game were fun, the other 50% were grinding, grinding and more grinding for the 100 Multiplayer matches, MRP and flying-distance. RedRodriguez87
VITA #321: Knowing the whole world This is one I've been wanting to play for real for quite a while, so it was nice to finally get to it. And, it's a pretty good one for a common platinum. The challenge is one where it's frustrating, but never enough that you want to quit. One where you go "OK, just one more time!" and pretty soon you've completed the whole game. I guess it is an easy platinum, but one that at least asks you to do everything the game has to offer. One thing that seemed really off to me was the dialogue. Most of the time its adequate, if uninspired, but then you get to the last level where it feels like someone forgot to proofread alot of the text. Weird. VITA #322: Platinum DISTRAINT Now here's a creepy spooky one that I enjoyed, and the first of my Halloween platinums! The game is very atmospheric and nightmareish, adding sprinkles of blink-of-an-eye disturbing visuals to the way it tells its story about a man who, to put it lightly and without spoilers, just can't seem to open his eyes to the dark path he's heading down. To be honest, I may have chickened out a bit playing it, as the sound was pretty low when I was playing. Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum #545: Difficulty: 3/10 Playtime: 15-20 hours Enjoyment: 8/10 Lilo and Mila--err, I mean, Lola and Milo are dead, and what's worse, they're... y'know... down there. Yes indeed, there is a God, there is a Devil, and Hell Is Real 2041. But things could be worse; sure, you're damned to an eternity of tailor-made torment... but once office hours are over, nights in Hell are filled with endless partying and drunken revelry, powered by idiosynchratic Hellcohol based drinks. Stuff that makes the Flaming Moe look like a Diet Grogaccino. That's right; what we have here is a true blue pioneer for what's destined to be the next hit game genre: the Booze Your Own Adventure game. The seed that will sprout the proverbial great oak, folks. And this is your chance to get in on the ground floor... 'cause let's face it, floors don't get any lower than Hell. The only way out is to beat the Prince of Partying at his own game... a drinking game, that is! Afterparty is a rude and crude, yet highly erudite and literate adventure that somehow manages to perfectly meld a complete lack of political correctness (you can't expect demons--affable though they may be in their off hours--to be beholden to the same social mores as us) with ruminations on morality and the human condition, and keep things consistently humorous throughout. Loli and Moolah are complex, relatable bundles of neuroses and mental safeguards, and their journey is a unique and memorable one... and equally compelling are the stories of the demons themselves. In fact, calling it the "human condition" in the first place seems a little exclusionary (I hope that's a word) when it seems like demons face many of the same trials and tribulations. Love In Hell, huh? What a concept ? The central gameplay gimmick is a fun one. The various imbibements and libations on offer will open up different dialogue options: you can antagonize people with some choice bon mots; try to charm them with sappy romance; or just talk like a pirate or a Hays Code Gangster and see what the hell happens. The plot, bar a few branching moral choices, is mostly unaffected by whatever boozy approach you choosey, but as the saucy dialogue (shout out to an excellent voice cast including Lee Everett as fucking Satan! What would Clementine say?!?) is the game's raison d'etree anyways, it hardly matters. But let's be honest here... the greatest thing about this game is Sister Mary Wormhorn, your own personal demon. In a game in which it seems like every other character has emotional baggage in their carry-on, her gleeful and playful mockery of everyone and everything is a like a refreshing breeze. She should be annoying as... well, Hell, but I really enjoy her chipper snarkiness. Got a $50 gofundme pledge for a potential Mary Wormhorn: Ace Personal Demon spin-off right here. Your move, Night School. Bar the odd frustrating skill-based trophy or two or three--complete with crappy checkpoints and repetitive dialogue--as well as some pretty unforgiving load times, this is one unexpectedly pleasant trip through Hell. It's also somewhat frustrating how the game chooses what character you play as. Best enjoyed with some of our comparatively weak Midgard alcohol splashing around your guttywuts. Gotta have that 4D, baby! (Oh, and there's a special circle of Hell reserved for people who miss the mark on the difficulty grade for their trophy guides... hint, hint!) Edited October 9, 2020 by AK-1138 Rewrote a particularly pretentious sentence I didn't care for.
Popular Post Redgrave
#193: Rico was Here - Just Cause 4 I had heard that this game was a lot less frustrating in terms of challenges and whatnot compared to Just Cause 3 so I wound up getting this on sale and I'm glad that it turned out to be true. The challenges while larger in number are far less frustrating and more manageable than the ones in Just Cause 3. I think part of it is that you don't have to sit through a loading screen if you fail them and so you can just retry them right away. The challenges are basically just "fly through these rings" type things and there are a lot of them but I would much prefer simple challenges that you can just retry without a loading screen than the waiting over a minute or so because you failed a challenge for something you hardly had control over. There were only a few that were really annoying but beyond that it was just repetitive and I can't help but wonder if it's because they didn't have the time to implement challenges like in Just Cause 3 or they decided to be merciful. The driving mechanics are still kind of janky but thankfully they aren't too bad compared to Just Cause 3 where it felt like you hardly had any input over your vehicle. I actually had some fun driving around in a sports car listening to the 80's music radio station at times, and because I got the Gold Edition I also got the DLC wingsuit which made it fun to fly around in and look at the world which I found to be really nice to look at. I also liked watching the factions fight each other since the battles felt unscripted and so it was cool to see them fight it out since one could come on top of the other. However there are still some things that I felt Just Cause 3 did better with one of which is how you take over territories and the Chaos level. In Just Cause 4 you're not really encouraged to blow up all the enemies stuff since there's no percentage tied to it and so it felt slower leveling up the Chaos level. Thankfully I found an exploit to make that grind a lot easier. But it would have been nice if there were something like the statues and propaganda stuff however I guess maybe they didn't want to just repeat what the previous two games did. For DLC I think the best one was the Daredevils of Destruction one which surprised me since it's supposed to be a racing one and I wound up liking it probably because it's like a destruction derby type thing where you have weapons on your car. The second DLC was a weird difficulty spike with suicide enemies but thankfully it was quick. The third DLC was also something of a difficulty spike but also you're getting shot at from every direction imaginable most of the time. On top of that there are hoverboard challenges which are the worst challenges in the game simply because of how finnicky the hoverboard can be to where it will grind on things you don't want it to at times and on top of that you also have to deal with getting shot at constantly which can mess up your timing. I don't know why they thought that a good idea but I sincerely hope if they make a fifth game that they don't have it like that. Either way I still had fun with it and would recommend it if you're not sure about playing it if you got frustrated at Just Cause 3's Platinum. The DLC is the only really difficult part but if I can do all of them in just a few days then it's no big deal at all. Popular Post Omelette Paradise
#403 - Queen's Quest 4: Sacred Truce Officially platinum number 403 although the last few trophies don't seem to have synced properly because of this trophy level update so I'm still displaying as 402. It's been a while since I played an Artifex Mundi game. Some of them are better than others and I'm less of a fan of the Queen's Quest series. It's pretty standard fare from them with the usual hidden object puzzles (not a lot of them this time though) to solve and if you've played any of their games before then you know what to expect. Popular Post RedRodriguez87
#323: Supermom An ironic name, for sure. Intentionally chosen, I'll bet. So here's another October platinum off the list, and as someone who usually tries to veer away from horror games, it wasn't a bad experience. Short and sweet with a guide, which I won't object to. There are some weird things about it, and alot of it I can chalk up to the games' budget. There are some pretty startling moments when you come across the few things that can actually kill you, but then you actually go and get killed by them and.... well, it just looks silly the way they brush up against you, which is somehow enough to kill you. They also have a tendency to telegrpah yourself, so it becomes super easy to avoid/defend yourself. There's only one instance when avoiding the twin monsters was a hassle, and they were the most talkative creatures in the game, so it stopped being scary and started being annoying. Then we come to the story, which really fell flat IMO. First off, the main character is just too irredeemable to me. She starts off not being very pleasant, then through flashbacks and story bits we learn she was even moreso, bordering on monster levels. The whole game could be seen as a journey for redemption...... but she doesn't even accomplish that. In fact, it feels like the game doesn't have an ending; it just sorta stops. Now granted, this story and the meaning behind it is rooted in Norse mythology, and a quick google search makes more sense of it, but still, as a standalone narrative, it's just very unsatisfying. Ah well, it IS my favorite kind of platinum; simple, shiny and BLUE!
Popular Post StraightVege
Savior of Gallowmere #239 (35th Fastest Achiever - 13 hours, 33 minutes) What are your expectations for a remake? The answer can vary wildly between players, which explains why Sir Dan's foray into the modern era was met with a mixed reception. Other than a gorgeous new coat of paint, and several small improvements (tons of minor level design tweaks especially), this is essentially the same game from '98, warts and all. The clumsy and shallow combat—wherein you charge haphazardly at enemies while mashing the attack button, just hoping for the best—hasn't changed. That atrocious camera remains intact, causing you to overlook what ought to be obvious paths. Annoying invisible walls abound, Daniel constantly gets snagged on the environment, platforming is imprecise, the auto-aim is unreliable... yup, all still here. For better or for worse, MediEvil 2019 is very faithful to the original, and it's understandable why someone looking for a further modernized experience would be disappointed. It feels more akin to a remaster than it does a remake. Personally, although I became pretty frustrated with the antiquated stuff at times, it was fulfilling to revisit one of my favorite cult classics from the olden days of PS1 in a new way. The wonderful atmosphere and endearing sense of humor yet hold up, and Dan is still one of my favorite character designs ever. I hope this development team tackles a brand new MediEvil title; really want to see their capabilities when they aren't constrained by adherence to archaic design. To briefly go over the new additions, I liked the nice little bestiary that details every monster and character. There's also a late-game quest, which has you replay most of the levels to collect and appease lost spirits. It's not great, and reeks of insecure devs trying to shoehorn more playtime into a game that was already the perfect length. Finally, in what would have to be my favorite change, the legendary Lani Minella narrates—she sounds almost exactly like her character Adria the Witch from Diablo 1, so it really got me nostalgic. She clearly had a lot of fun and exaggerated her lines; it was awesome. Popular Post SHAZAM_SAVAGE
#16 - Marvel's Avengers "Omega Level Accomplishment" Despite the fact that the majority of these trophies were somehow glitched. Despite the fact that there were very grindy trophies. Despite the fact that all of these grindy and glitched trophies had to be done SOLO in a game that was designed for multiplayer... I still loved this game (I should have had this platinum a week ago!). I guess there is something wrong with me. I love comics and am a DC and Marvel "nerd", if you will. When I first heard of this project I was ecstatic, and knew that I would be pre-ordering and playing the hell out of this game. I wasn't one of those people who were upset that the characters didn't look like their MCU counterparts, because the MCU characters didn't look like their comic counterparts. I was alright with the character designs and their looks, I had no problem. I really also enjoyed the voice acting, I feel like everybody did a fantastic job, especially Bruce Banner/Hulk who I feel stole the show. The gameplay itself was great. I can see what they were trying to accomplish. In a party of 4 is where the game really shines. However, it is obvious we were not sold a finished product. Too many technical issues (as mentioned above), and somewhat repetitive missions. Also, a crime that there are only 2 "bosses" (Abomination and Taskmaster). We for sure need new content in the future. With the right fixes and content, I know this game can be fantastic. So much potential. If you're looking to platinum this game, though, prepare for a crazy solo grind... Edited October 9, 2020 by SHAZAM_SAVAGE
Popular Post IesuHado
Platinum N° 154 - Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition Dead Echo Acquire all trophies in Bulletstorm STATS (PERSONAL OPINION): - Enjoyment: 7/10 (General) - 5/10 (Going for Platinum) - Platinum Difficulty: 4/10 - Would I recommend it: Only if you like shooters and not too complex games So here we are again jaja, hello all! Today I´m going to present you my platinum number 154 coming from the game "Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition" a really funny game to pass the time and if you want to try something that doesn´t require you to break your head overthinking to much and just ask you to enjoy a shooter and have a little patience with the online/multiplayer trophies. The game is fun and honestly the only hard part will be to find someone to do the online trophies and performing some especific actions in a few echoes maps but again nothing too hard honestly IF you are used to shooters games of course I must say. The story is funny, characters are really charismatic and level desings let´s say is good. The gameplay and core mechanics are the star of the game being really fun and satisfactory in a weird way to see how different you can end your enemies life. Lots of guns and explosion makes this game like if you were seeing a hollywood movie lol. On the other hand I really dislike the multiplayer in this game is just not fun, but luckily there are only two trophies that requieres you to have a buddy the others can be done in private matchmaking. Also the Echoes mode can be a bit repetitive if you doit as soon as you just end the story so maybe you want to take a little break there. But in general it was a good experience and game to try. I encounter a bug where I had to be online for the trophies to pop but in general that was the only bug I had during my time with the game. Thanks for reading and see all. Cheers!
Popular Post Cherrywood
# 110 Baldur's Gate 2 This one's really good. The past two months, I've been playing through the PS4 ports of the classic Bioware series (Baldur's Gate 1, its 2016 Beamdog produced expansion Siege of Dragonspear, Baldur's Gate 2, and then its 2001 Bioware developed expansion Throne of Bhaal). Great game series. I can still remember playing the first one for the first time on my cousin's PC in January of 1999, buying it on that trip back home, and it was one of the most wowing videogame based moments of my life (ranking up there alongside playing the NES and The Legend of Zelda for the first time at a friend's house in the Fall of 1987 when I was in kindergarten, seeing Grand Theft Auto 3 for the first time when my brother got it for Christmas in 2001, and stepping out of the sewers for the first time in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion). I've really enjoyed replaying these games for the first time in years, taking my created character, a kensai half-elf named Cherrywood (naturally) through the events of Baldur's Gate 1, into the grand war campaign of Siege of Dragonspear, continuing into Baldur's Gate 2, and then concluding with the final big choice at the end of Throne of Bhaal. Fulfilling what people want out of a sequel, Baldur's Gate 2 is like Baldur's Gate 1 except bigger and better. It starts off very narrow, you and your friends from the first game have been kidnapped and you are being repeatedly tortured by the mysterious villain Jon Irenicus, an extraordinarily powerful mage who is looking to extract your divine soul for his own nefarious purposes. The first hour or 2 are spent escaping his dungeon, and then the game opens up in a big way. There's a vague goal of raising X amount of gold needed to hire a mercenary guild to help you pursue Irenicus and save your childhood friend Imoen, but there's really just lots to do both in the large, sprawling city of Athkatla and in the countryside that surrounds it, and even more with the addition of the super dungeon Watcher's Keep which was introduced with Throne of Bhaal, and all of it at your own pace. Once you finally make your decision on which criminal organization to side with, the Athkatla Thieves' Guild or their mysterious, would-be usurpers (who level drain when they attack, turn to mist when they die, are never seen during the day, and who seem to be based out of the network of tombs running underneath the graveyard), the game narrows up for a time as you pursue Irenicus before opening back up to allow you to finish everything up before taking down the villain, stopping him from destroying the Tree of Life and becoming an all-powerful God. It's an older game now, it certainly doesn't "wow" quite like it did back in 2000, but it's still just as fun to play. It's as good as you've probably heard it was over the past 20 years and, as a console port of a PC game, thankfully it works and is very playable with a controller. And, like I said, you and your party continue into the expansion Throne of Bhaal which is a separate story all by itself. As a trophy list, Baldur's Gate 2's is fairly sizable, you don't have to necessarily do everything (you never have to even enter that super-dungeon I mentioned, although if you love the game you'll want to), but you are going to have to play through it more than once. There are some decision based trophies based on which guild you go with, and, unless you're playing it through the first time with a mage, you'll have to play it nearly three times if you're going to go for the platinum [it requires a highest difficulty setting playthrough, which you'll want an end-game level mage for, which requires an end-game level mage which you can import (you can't import recruited party members, only created ones)] but thankfully that middle playthrough with my fully created party I was able to breeze through quickly by putting it on story mode. But I would really recommend the Baldur's Gate collection on PS4. It's available for pretty cheap, around $20 on Amazon, you can earn 3 platinums (although I will say that I wish it was 4; Throne of Bhaal's list is joined with Baldur's Gate 2's while Baldur's Gate 1 and Dragonspear each have their own separate lists), and it's really a fun way to play through an important and still engaging piece of gaming history. Also, the looooong awaited Baldur's Gate 3 just came out in Early Access and is all but assured to receive a next-gen console port once it's finished and done (the developer Larian has said they're open to it, they did them with their Divinity Original Sin games, and it'll already be working on a controller because it's also on Stadia). Anyway, if you've read through this to the end, I'd recommend it, and I'm pretty pleased that I have a Platinum Trophy for one of my all-time favorite games. Now if they would only come out with versions of Final Fantasy 6, Suikoden 2, and Lunar Silver Star Story Complete with trophies..... Popular Post Canario1988
#145 Bully Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 I keep playing games from previous gen as I don't find games of my likings in the latest releases. I played Bully long time ago in Ps2 and I didn't remember how it was. It's cool to have the chance to play again these games and having its Plat trophy in the collection ? #146 Mafia II: Definitive Edition Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 Mafia, what can I say... One of the best videogame stories to play. Of course the remaster has its down, but the game deserved a second run and now with the latest updates I didn't face any of the ugly bugs. Popular Post Omelette Paradise
#404 - Scarlett Mysteries: Cursed Child I liked this one a lot more than Queen's Quest 4. Much better story and setting. Once again - a bit lacking in actual hidden object puzzles which is a trend I've noticed in more recent Artifex Mundi games. Enjoyed it though none the less. Popular Post flashpool23
Haven't posted since plat 150, so here are 4 more. Plat 151 Madden NFL 20 Master (Madden 20) Not too bad of a plat but a lot like the previous Madden versions trophy wise. Worst trophy was Perfect Passer where every throw in the Combine drills has to be made and restarting requires viewing a 1 minute unskippable cutscene again. Plat 152 Collector of Souls (Dungeon Punks) If you've played Dragon's Crown, this is a cheaper version of it. It's not too bad but it certainly gets repetitive once you start the New Game Plus playthrough. Plat 153 Graduation Day (Watch Dogs 2) I had higher expectations for this game because I did enjoy the first Watch Dogs, but this one was too different. It was much more colorful and the main protagonists were a hipster group that did things for followers generally speaking. Gameplay was fluid enough but it's not really all that memorable. I guess it's worth seeing the recreation of San Francisco though. Hero Time (Ben 10) It's said that this game is an easy plat but defeating the bosses without getting hit is a pain since it means restarting a whole level and not just the boss sections. I did enjoy the variety in aliens but after everything is upgraded, you really only need Heatblast.
Popular Post Undead Wolf
#328 - The Sinking City All Evidence Collected Complete every challenge the city of Oakmont has to offer. This game isn't anything amazing, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I enjoyed my time with it even if I found the gameplay loop a little repetitive towards the end. I liked that the game was split up into individual cases with their own little conclusions at the end that are different based on choices made earlier. The setting was pretty cool, taking place in a city in the middle of nowhere that (as the name implies) has large sections of it flooded. I don't have much experience with H. P. Lovecraft inspired fiction, but this game definitely got me more interested in that stuff.
