Popular Post HDP_Reap
#20: Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy (PS5) Platinum in 2 Days, 4 Hours Rarity: 33.65%, Uncommon Difficulty: 2.5/10 Enjoyment: 1/10 Before you diss me about my low enjoyment rating, I had already platinumed the PS4 version and greatly enjoyed it, and recently came back to get the PS5 platinum. I earned most of the trophies through a save transfer, but I did not earn Groot Canal or the trophy for all Guardian Collectibles for one Guardian. I earned Groot Canal easily by replaying Chapter 10, however the Guardian collectible one wasn’t so easy. The fix did not work for me, and I tried replaying multiple chapters, with no trophy pop. It got me very frustrated, and I ended up having to replay the game up to Chapter 7 to earn this last trophy. Given my school and work schedule, I could not do this all in one night as I am not able to play video games as much as I could in the summertime or during break. This only delayed the time it took me to earn an effortless platinum, and it sucked the enjoyment out of it, even if it wasn’t meant to be that enjoyable. I love the game, yes, and I had a blast platinuming it the first time, but I wasn’t able to enjoy it the second time.
Popular Post Theladozz
YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World Spoiler Synopsis from VNDB: Takuya Arima is a young student whose father, a historian who has conducted various researches, disappeared recently. During a summer vacation Takuya receives a peculiar package from his missing father, along with a letter containing information about the existence of various parallel worlds. At first Takuya doesn't take it seriously, but soon he realizes that he possesses a device that allows him to travel to alternate dimensions. Is his father alive, after all? If so, where is he? This game is more of a point and click adventure game than a visual novel, and it's a really good one. The original game was released in 1996 and it must have been groundbreaking at the time, as it is said to be the pioneer in many things when it comes to VN's. Like multiple routes & endings, flowcharts, time travel etc.. This is a remake with supposedly no changes to the scenario (except cutting out the H scenes), only modernizing the gameplay elements, but I can't confirm this since I have not played the og version. What I can confirm though is even by today's standards this VN is one of the most ambitious ones I've ever read, and one of the longest ones as well. It can be split into two different parts, the first one being a multiple route / dimension mystery. If you've played Ever17, Zero Escape games, Stens;Gate or other multiple dimension games you will be familiar with the concept. You're trying to piece together the overarching mystery by going "back" in time and to different world lines. The characters are interesting and/or likable (except for the MC lol), and I really liked how everyone has their own agenda and are working towards their own goals with or without the MC. It doesn't feel like the characters just disappear the moment the MC stops interacting with them, you run into them in locations that might or might not make sense at the time. but as you progress further and into different routes, everyone's purpose and intentions become clearer. The game has a built in guide which shows on screen what locations you need to go to trigger events (like meeting someone or finding an item), and even which heroine route those events progress you towards. This is a very welcome addition to the remake as I've read that the orginal is basically impossibe to play without a guide and it is just a trial and error fest clicking on everything and going to random locations as a lot of times you have no clue how to progress the story. I think this is the stronger part of the game, the dialogue is good and the story kept my interest throughout the whole thing. Once you obtain all pieces of certain item, you can enter the "other world" route. It's an isekai to a fantasy world which could basically be a separate VN in itself. It has some major pacing issues (was rushed allegedly), but it has more individual heart warming and heart-wrenching moments than the first half, and you can see how massive the scope of this VN is. By the way the MC is not a self insert, he has a personality and is voice acted which is great, but unfortunately I found him to be really unlikable and dumb especially in the other world route. I'm sure it's related to the lack of time they had to finish this route, but he makes some baffling decisions and doesn't realize things that should be completely obvious to him if he actually thought about it for a moment. What I mentioned was good in the first half, that time doesn't stop for the charcaters when they are off screen, sadly is not the case here. The MC sees something and thinks it's familiar, time jump 1 month ahead and he still hasn't had any realizations as if he just spent that 1 month literally not thinking about anything at all . The story also gets a bit convoluted towards the end and it's one of those where you shouldn't think about it too deeply because than the plot holes and unexplained stuff start to appear. Regardless of that, this is probably the VN with the most CG's that I've played so far, and the amount of text and dialouge is insane. The music and sound effects are also amazing and there are some very memorable tunes that add a lot to the atmosphere of the scenes. It's obvious that a huge amount of effort went into both the writing and the implementation of the game, which sadly cannot be said about the localization. This is the worst official translation that I've seen so far for a localized VN, and just makes me feel that fan translations are better as the people doing those actually care. It doesn't block you from understanding the overall story, but at times it's absolute dog shit and obviously translated completely out of context and possibly via MTL. It's obvious because the errors made are glaring (like sentences having the wrong person as subject) even to someone with only rudimentary knowledge of japanese like me, so thank god the dialogue is fully voiced. Shame on the translators (and proofreaders) because the VN deserved better. It took me around 60 hours to get the platinum and I consider myself to be a relatively fast reader, so there's a lot of content here and I was never bored of it. I feel like the remake kind of flew under the radar despite the original being one of the most influential VN of all time, but I would recommend any VN enjoyers to give it a try, especially if you like sci-fi adventures like S;G or the Zero Escape games. One thing I have to say though is if you absolutely can't stand incest than don't even bother with this one lol.

It is NOT family friendly all the time, there are moments... Congrats on the plat! And agreed all VNs should have a system like this one for proceeding The story is great

Popular Post StraightVege
Platinum #323 Rather fitting how the events of this long-awaited sequel take place mere days after the original's story, because if it wasn't for the greatly improved graphical quality, one could almost be deceived into thinking it actually was created darn near twenty years ago. Beyond the better visuals and some small additions, I thought Psychonauts 2 did little to differentiate itself from the dated first entry. A satisfactory follow-up for the most part, but I suppose I was expecting something slightly more ambitious, considering the long passage of time between games. After assuaging Coach Oleander's childhood fears, and ultimately saving the world from his dastardly schemes back in 2005, runaway circus acrobat and psychic prodigy Razputin Aquato shortly after fulfills his dream of working in an official capacity with the international espionage agency, The Psychonauts. Unfortunately, matters there are not as glamorous as they've cracked up to be, since he begins as a lowly intern, forced to deal with hazing from the older children. If that wasn't already a lot for a ten-year-old to cope with, he's also tasked with exposing a mole within the organization, which leads to revelations that a terrifyingly powerful psychic mass murderer defeated by the Psychonauts in the past, Maligula, could potentially be resurrected via necromancy. It's once again time for Raz to pull down those iconic goggles and delve into some minds for clues! There's plenty of twists and turns to experience in this wild story, where forgiveness is a main theme—and I mean radical forgiveness, of a kind most people likely wouldn't be willing to extend, including me if I'm honest. I'm not a proponent of revenge or punitive justice, but Raz is expected to pardon some heinous stuff here. It's not all doom and gloom, of course. Nearly two decades later, that quirky Double Fine sense of humor I fondly remember is intact, and the amazing voice talent (most notably the eminent Richard Horvitz as Raz) somehow haven't lost a step in portraying their kooky characters. As I said, it genuinely feels like a sequel which could've been released several years after the first, which is kinda impressive in a way. One little tidbit I found amusing: the very person a certain contingent always used to scaremonger would ruin video games, Anita Sarkeesian, is credited as a consultant on Psychonauts 2, and whaddya know, the game didn't implode at her slightest input. While I'm undecided if any of the sequel's levels quite match the conceptual heights of the original's best offerings, such as "The Milkman Conspiracy," there's certainly some interesting mental spaces to explore. Early on, Raz dives into the mind of a fellow agent suffering from a gambling addiction, alongside regrets about her past as a failed medical doctor. This results in a delightful jumble of casino and hospital imagery, wherein skeletal patients on IV drips are playing at roulette tables, and Raz has to roll himself down a gigantic Plinko machine. Every level features unique concepts and gameplay wrinkles of this sort, which is the series' main appeal for me. However, many stages seemed disappointingly short and rushed; they could've expanded many of these ideas into so much more. Additionally, with exasperating frequency, they've chosen to interrupt gameplay with unnecessary cutscenes, and I can't understand why. Do I really need a scene to explain that I just knocked an object down with PSI Blast? However, I was relieved to find that the notorious figment collectibles were far less of a headache to locate and grab this time around, since they're placed in a more reasonable manner, seem to have larger hitboxes for collection, and are usually easier to spot against the background than they used to be. Personally, I never thought that its predecessor's clumsy combat or platforming ever added much to the experience of exploring fractured minds, and those aspects felt only marginally improved this time around. Boss encounters are especially awkward. Thankfully, the available accessibility options allow you to trivialize both, by removing fall damage and making Raz's attacks much stronger, which I was very appreciative for. Raz's arsenal of PSI powers has been expanded somewhat, with new abilities like Time Bubble and Projection (which summons a paper-thin clone of Raz to unlock doors and whatnot) joining old favorites such as Pyrokinesis and Levitation. I'm rather partial to Time Bubble in particular, since it lets you temporarily slow both enemies and environmental hazards, making them far more manageable. Your preferred abilities can also be bolstered via the new pin system, a feature I wish they'd done a bit more with, because it's probably my favorite addition. Want your Pyrokinesis to make certain enemies explode? There's a pin for that! Besides the performance issues (painfully LONG load times and annoying stuttering), it should largely please fans of the first, but don't expect any groundbreaking alterations to the formula. I've got more catching up to do regarding platinums, but that's enough for one day. By the way, these posts are likely to become increasingly more concise and off the cuff going forward, as my specific constellation of issues makes writing lengthy ones (like my GreedFall thoughts a while ago) incredibly exhausting these days. It's becoming difficult to justify spending too much of my limited time and energy on this board anymore, but perhaps I'll occasionally do longer ones, if the game in question inspires me enough. Popular Post No longer here
#192 - The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (PS Vita) Enjoyment/Rating: 9.5/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Time: 200+ Hours PSNP Rarity: 2.81% PSN Rarity: 1.8% After years of corrupted save files and resetted runs, the plat is mine (not going for the DLC lol) and I am happy I build up the courage to play it again. Good thing I have been using my VITA a lot more, so it was only fair I get back to the grind. Well what can I say, one of the more popular indie games ever and it is still a addicting and phenomenal game. It is one of those few games where the RNG works in favor of the player and it allows for many mixes with items and combat. Game is very power-hungry as you sacrificing health can lead to better DMG items or in general a stronger character. The game's artstyle is good and is memorable with all the religious and horror context with the game. The lore is awesome, the characters are awesome and the roguelite simulation actually works perfectly for this game! I enjoyed this especially on the vita and it feels awesome to play it during less busy hours at work or at home. There is much more I would get into, but this would be a 10 page essay. Only reasons I can't give this game a 10 is because stability issues and save file corruption is a very common thing with any version of the game even till today! When the game is at its best, it is peak. When the game is at its worst, this is what im talking about, it's funny cause it has nothing to do with the gameplay lol. The reason I have been putting off the game was because my save files were all over the place and things would just bug out. I wouldn't take a whole point off because the value this game gives is astronomical. Yes the trophies took time but never got bored doing so, the Lost, hard mode with every character and completing some rng tasks made it difficult yet long as well. I can recommend this masterpiece to anyone especially indie/rouge-lite/like lovers. Just be aware if you're a completionist, the DLC makes the game longer and the plat is therefore takes a longer while to get!

Popular Post Moridin83
#261 Judgement (PS4) I wish I liked this game more. I'm a fan of RGG games and went into this with no real expectations other than to enjoy another visit to Kamurocho. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for much of my time here. I wanted to enjoy this game, I really did. It looks good, and much of the side content you may know from previous Yakuza/LaD titles is intact, so if you enjoy that, it's something to look forward to. There are a few glaring omissions though, the most significant being Karaoke. I've always actually enjoyed that minigame, so the lack of inclusion stunk. I wouldn't majorly ding the game just for that though. I was also not thrilled that the only viable way to earn the cash you need is through VR Paradise. I was well over that minigame long before I had all the cash I needed. I didn't need more than 3 or 4 hours for Puyo Puyo, but do your research. My issues are unfortunately much deeper with this game. The combat is just not good. The addition of wall attacks is a cool idea, but barely helps when you're not fighting in a narrow alley, or inside a building, and does nothing top offset the idiocy of giving even basic mooks super armor to start fights. I get that Yagami isn't supposed to be Kiryu, but there's a vast gulf between not being Kiryu, and having combos bounce of your enemies to start fights. It's just not fun, and the closest thing I can compare it to is a worse version of Yakuza 3's excessive blocking. Combined with the amount of un-cancelable moves at the end of crane mode combos (plus crane mode's general weakness outside of EX boost), and the fact that someone thought it was smart to have you do a taunt you can't dodge out of when you break a hold, and I wanted every encounter to be over before it started. This is especially problematic when the Keihin gang shows up (repeatedly, and with no significant difference, no matter how often you've kicked their ass), and you can't go 10 steps without getting into/running from a fight. Also, I just hate the concept of Mortal Wounds in general, but if they were going to do them, they really needed some place to buy med kits that didn't require going to literally the furthest corner of the map. The detective stuff was also a mixed bag for me. I didn't enjoy the tailing at all, especially the later ones. It was never particularly hard, just tedious and unrewarding feeling. I can't really speak to the other detective aspects, since I bought all the boosts at the very beginning of the game, which trivialized their difficulty, but I didn't think any of them were of a quality where I was depriving myself of much by doing so. The keys in particular was pointless aside from one specific instance late in the game. The story had potential, but the pacing felt uneven, and one particular twist reveal just made me go "duh!" It served its purpose, but it certainly didn't make up for the other areas I felt the game was lacking. Finally, a note on the DLC. It's very much pay to win/not try as hard. The drone bodies mean you don't have to get nearly as gud for the championships, and the DLC extracts can be used to trivialize most of the battles. Obviously you don't have to buy/use them, and I started the game not doing so, but by the midpoint, I just didn't want to have to deal with street gangs, particularly Keihin fights. Maybe my experience is an outlier, I hope people enjoyed the game, but I couldn't really get into this one at all, and I just hope the sequel fixed a lot of my issues with this.
Popular Post Phlegeth
#70 Nobeta the Witch Acquire all trophies. This was fun. I liked how the story was very personal, but there was a lot of world building in the items. I mean, like par for the course for a Soulslike. There's a lot of hidden stuff. I did a lot on my own, but when I got to the point of no return and again at the very end I opened up @Undead Wolf excellent guide to backtrack and pick up what I missed. And Lv5 Thunder breaks the game. Not only do you become like Fry after 100 Coffees, your dodge turns into a flashstep. So yea, if you're almost dead you can call a time out and heal up and then rain lightning on them. No wonder you have to go all the way through an optional area to get the first book and the fifth book is the last thing before the final boss. Makes NG+ a breeze though. Speaking of NG+, Fubuki kept laughing at me because I couldn't parry.

Popular Post Trancexistence
#50 - The Last of Us Part I The Last of Us is one of my all time favourite games and it was an absolute pleasure to replay it on PS5. I'd already earned the platinum in the Remastered version of the original game so decided to take the slightly different route of experiencing the story in chronological order, by playing Left Behind inbetween the University and Lakeside Resort chapters. This along with the updated visuals made for a nice way to experience the story again, and on that note, I thought the game looked absolutely amazing. New to the game on PS5 were the hints (Which I found very useful and guide you to every single collectable. No walkthrough needed.) and the implementation of the accessibility options from Part II. I didn't make use of of those but Naughty Dog and any other developers that take the time to add these to their games deserve credit. I played through on Hard for a fair challenge and to make sure I had enough crafting materials to unlock all the shiv doors in one playthrough. Unlocking all those doors is quite tricky to do on the two harder difficulties and there was no infinite shiv glitch this time. Will almost certainly do another run on Grounded at some point to earn enough points to unlock all the extras as I love the game that much. Total game time was 27 hours and I could have done it a lot quicker but I wanted to take my time and savour it. Was also happy to discover that none of the trophies are glitched this time. Next platinum will be F1 22 as I aim to finish off the last 50 or so multiplayer races I have left to do. Popular Post Undead Wolf
#445 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Tier 1 Unlock all Trophies Not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, this is the reboot from 2019. I decided to give it a go since I heard good things about the campaign and the trophy list wasn't full of obnoxious online trophies. There were some really cool missions in this game. The most notable ones to me were "Piccadilly" where you deal with a terrorist attack in London. It's super hectic with suicide bombers rushing you and civilians getting executed in stores. "Clean House" where you clear this house with enemy combatants hiding behind doors, surprise attacking you, and taking hostages. It was cool too because sometimes you'd "rescue" a woman, only for her to go for a gun or bomb to try and kill you. "The Embassy" was this mission about extracting a high-value target from an embassy building all while it's getting overrun by the enemy. You eventually make it outside where you get a brief respite, but then it all goes to shit again. ? And finally, there was "Going Dark". This one was cool because you're let loose in a town and can tackle things in a non-linear order. But it mainly involves sneaking around with your night vision goggles, shooting out lights, and taking down enemies without the others noticing. It was a fun stealth mission. Made you feel a bit like Sam Fisher. ? I can't say the overarching story really grabbed me like the original Modern Warfare did, and the new characters introduced in this reboot don't hold a candle to the ones in that original game either. Still, I enjoyed my time with the game. It's not very long. The trophy list for this game is really basic. You just have to beat the game on Veteran which is way easier than the Veteran difficulty in the older CoD games. I can't say I had much trouble with it. But apart from that, there are just some mission-specific trophies you have to watch out for. Pretty easy so long as you're aware of the requirements though. The only one that's a bit more involved is "We Own The Night" from the "Going Dark" mission I previously mentioned where you have to kill all the enemies without them calling for backup. It can be a little bit tricky actually finding all the enemies since there's a good few places they can be hiding at, but not it's not too bad. But yeah, this was fun, even if it only lasted a handful of hours. I'll probably play the new Modern Warfare 2 at some point. 19 hours ago, Ilzakia said: I did a lot on my own, but when I got to the point of no return and again at the very end I opened up @Undead Wolf excellent guide to backtrack and pick up what I missed. Thanks for the kind words about my guide, man. I appreciate it. And congrats on the plat! ?
Popular Post da-Noob123
Just finished The Forgotten City. It was a great game that required out of the book thinking and was really enjoyable. The time loop in this game is handled extremely well. I am considering going for the PS4 stack.
Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #274 Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage Ripto's Remorse Collect all trophies in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage Finally got a platinum after our new puppy, Dobby. Potty training took it out of me especially when my husband left. His energy is more stable now so I can play more, and trust he won’t go inside at all and will tell me when he needs to go. But on to the game. finally getting around to Spyro 2 and 3. I only played the first game back in the day. So it was all new for me. It was a lot of fun, but I didn’t care for the mission structure. It just slows things down in each world. With the first bit of 3 it seems Insomniac realized it too as it plays a lot more like 1. It’s still a lot of fun, and I do like that there’s more to speedways than just the one and done. But a some of the side missions in them suck, at least that one in the Icey one where you’re being pulled. overall was pretty simple list, idk if it’s because I played on PS5 but I did have some stuttering at times. Given the platinum title of 3, I might leave it for New Years instead of actually do it as my #275 milestone. We’ll see.
