Popular Post Undead Wolf
#446 - Sackboy: A Big Adventure Big Adventurer Even Scarlet didn't get all the trophies, you're truly a Knitted Knight of legend. This is one of those games that I had some interest in, but not enough to the point where I was willing to spend a good chunk of money for it. That's why it becoming "free" for PS+ Essential members was nice to see. I've never touched any of the Little Big Planet games before, but this seemed like a pretty good game to jump in with considering it's a spin-off and has a focus on 3D platforming instead of level creation (the latter of which I don't care much for). It's a very simple game. There is a story, but it's nothing to write home about. Not really any memorable characters either, but the gameplay is what's most important in a game like this of course. There are 5 worlds, each of which is filled with a variety of levels. The main goal is just to reach the end of each level, but there are side objectives you can accomplish, many of which are tied into the trophies. That's stuff like earning a certain number of points for the gold trophy, completing the level without dying, and collecting the dreamer orb collectibles. I was surprised there was no side objective for speedrunning the level. I kind of wish there was since running through the level as fast as possible was pretty fun to do. Most of the trophies are tied into the side objectives I mentioned. You don't have to 100% the game, just a good portion of it. The platinum is a little bit more challenging than you would expect from a game with this aesthetic, and that's down to the Knitted Knight's Trials. More specifically the final trial which is basically all of the 15 trials combined into one level. You have to get a gold trophy in this trial which requires you to beat it with a time under 10 minutes. So that's like 10 minutes of fairly tricky platforming sections back to back with no checkpoints in-between. You're allowed to get hit once, but getting hit again or falling off the edge of the map (which is really easy to do) means you're right back at the start. It's not even the time limit that's the issue, it's just getting to the end alive. It's not insanely hard or anything, and I did actually quite enjoy the challenge, but it did take a few hours of attempts for me to get through it. The main reason I wanted to play this game was because of the co-op, so of course I brought my good buddy @Redgrave along for the ride. ? Unfortunately, it was a bit of a buggy experience. We were getting some desynch issues where things were happening on my screen that weren't happening on his and vice versa. It made the co-op levels where we had to throw each other or coordinate more difficult than they should have been. Plus, a lot of the failed attempts at a no-death run can be attributed to this as well. I don't know how much of it was the game's fault or my connection's fault, but we haven't had issues like this in other games we've played, so I'm leaning more towards the former. There was some other weird happenings in this game like some of the fade to black loading screens taking a lot longer than they should. Despite the issues I mentioned though, it wasn't enough to ruin the experience. I still had a lot of fun with the game and I'm glad I played it.

Popular Post MidnightDragon
#97 Arcade Game Series: Galaga Out of the four Arcade Game Series games, feel like this one is the hardest. The fact there are save states you can back up and reload if things go wrong is a godsend. You can also max out lives and turn on level select without voiding any trophies. You can't get on the leaderboards, but since it doesn't matter for the plat, who cares? The trophies are straighforward, but do require patience and skill. Once you get a dual fighter, try to keep it because it makes things less of a headache. I didn't do the no enemy fire exploit. It probably would've made things easier in hindsight. Getting perfect in the challenge stages was a bit tricky, but save states made it more doable. It was fun, though a bit frustrating.

Popular Post Gommes_
#160 Final Fantasy 7 Remake Master Of Fate Well, this was a disappointment. I don’t know the general perception of the remake to be honest but I barely had fun with it. I've played the original years ago but I don't have the strongest feelings about it, so that is not the reason. But let’s start with the good things first: The graphics are awesome and I liked the art style for the most part when talking about the characters, the city and the enemies. The biggest positive aspect of this game however, hast to be the music. It’s just fantastic what they managed to do and how „old“ tracks sound today. Combined with new parts, the soundtrack blew me away at times. Especially the Hell House theme is glorious! Amazing piece of music. Sadly, that’s about it when talking about the good things of the game. Pretty much everything else annoyed me way too much. Let’s start with the way the game was designed and how the party moved through the world. When I said I liked the art style for the most part I was not referring to the dozens of brown and grey tunnel/indutry areas the game throws at you constantly. These made the game look rather ugly than graphically impressive. And SquareEnix also did a bad job in hiding the loading for upcoming areas. Seriously, at times I thought I’ve played a „crouching and squeeze through simulator“, cause you have to do it all the time and it takes forever! These aspects destroy the flow of the game as much as all the filler things you have to do inbetween two connecting areas and which all sucked! Who thought that the motorbike scenes were actually fun? Or the crane sequence? Or stopping that one lever at the right time? Or climbing on the ceiling with Tifa? Whenever you had to move you party the game gave you nothing but shit to keep you busy. This could’ve been not so bad if the major thing of a (former) role playing game was good. I am talking about the story or better said how it was represented. My god, that was atrocious! Did the developers sleep the last 10 years? This is not how you portray anything. I don’t mind cliches or stereotypes if done right. Heck, I really liked how Yakuza 0 did everything. FF7 Remake is over the top ridiculous and takes itself way too serious at the same time. They made the story for dummies and idiots too who can’t fathom the most obvious human reactions. „Something dangerous is about to happen? Let’s Cloud reach for his sword, so people notice. Good idea, lets do it.“ And let’s do it 60 more times, whenever something is happening, even when the situation is not really suited for it. I mean who cares about nuances?“ „Hmm, something is good? Let’s make the characters show a thumb, so people will know. Got it, great idea! Let’s also make this way too many times, cause we have no other idea on how to show this to people. What? Last Of Us, God of War and other games with that graphical quality found other ways? Screw it, let’s go with the thumb!“ But the absolute cake takes the scene where Barret thought his daughter died. It’s not enough that he reacts with anger, no he has to scream up to the skies and then punches a rock! ?So, the last idiot will realize: „Hmm, Barret sad AND mad“. You can see the scene in this video. And of course the video starts with a crouching scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziylPIe5cgk&ab_channel=BuffMaister In general, most of the characters are absolutely ridiculous and are unlikeable morons. From the bad guys it’s everyone and from the main party only a few are alright. I haven’t even mentioned how every girl adores Cloud or how „cool“ he is in every scene or how he unironically lands in that typical hero pose every single time. It seems like the developers never saw any movie, TV-series or other games for references. Weirdly enough the DLC was alright. Maybe because it was short or maybe because Yuffie could move faster, therefore the loading sequences could be better implemented. Oh, and the fighting was okay too. In the main game game and the DLC. So it’s actually 3 good things: Graphics, music and the fighting. The rest is mostly garbage. SquareEnix unwillingly made a parody of a game. Popular Post mr_enigma26
Full Platinum Difficulty: 3/10 Time: About 25 hours for Base Game + 2 hours for DLC Enjoyment: 7.5/10 I was interested in the game a while back after seeing some reviews on youtube. Imagine Diablo with guns in a cyberpunk setting. I finally saw it on sale at Gamestop for the Cyber Edition that came with the DLC and decided to pull the trigger. Here are my thoughts. The Good: After playing Cyberpunk 2077 I think I actually prefer The Ascent's portrayal of the cyberpunk setting. It reminded me more of Blade Runner in the sense that its dark, dingy, visuals, and overall detail in the settings make it feel more alive. Compared to Cyberpink 2077 where it did feel at times empty but that's just personal opinion. The gunplay is pretty satifying especially as you level up and acquire more weapons. The most fun I had was facing gigantic hordes of enemies while they rush you down and your desperately backing and dashing away to create space. The world is semi open world in where you can pick up side quests anytime along with the main quest so there is some freedom in that regard. Half the fun really is exploring what the world has to offer and you are awarded in searching each nook and corner available. The Not so Good: Right off the bat, though it does have a form of fast travel through taking the "subway" or calling in a cab for a fee your drop off point is usually still far from you need to go. In addition the map can be confusing as the game does have verticality in its design. Therefore, there are times you might walk in the wrong direction and get lost. In terms of the story you play the silent protagonist and all the dialogue are from the NPCs. Normally I dont mind but given this game does have RPG elements but I think in this case with all the effort they put into the visuals, settings and gameplay they couldnt afford to hire some more VAs to play the main character? Now, in terms of the RPG elements, I found them a bit shallow. Without going into too much detail with how much points you are given you can almost max out all stats by the end of the game, especially if you have the DLC. However, in the early and mid game you almost have to pump points into health as the mobs can really knock you down a lot. Though if you are struggling you can lower the difficulty as there are no difficulty related trophies. Overall, I did enjoy my time with this game. For a AA top down shooter with RPG elements I think most people will have a fun time. I would recommend picking it up on discount and try to get the DLC too. Trophy list is very easy and the time commitment isn't demanding.

Popular Post fresquinho
Platinum #359 - Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) It's because of blockbusters like this one that I'm proud to be a Playstation fan since I was a 7 year old kid. It's literally the best game I've played on PS5 so far. Horizon Zero Dawn is my #2 favorite game of the entire PS4 generation and I just knew this new one would be superior in every fucking way. This game is absolutely outstanding. Visuals are blowing my mind and the world is amazing to explore. I didn't expect it would look so beautiful, it's just wonderful! After playing so many hours, there are no words how great and pure the gameplay is. The main story and side quest are so absorbing, it is hard to stop playing. We got a lot of new staff in mechanics and I love it. Horizon Forbidden West is a true gem and a game that was produced and created with true love by the amazing developers, it's worth every penny, no doubt. Guerilla did fantastic job overall. Let's appreciate these talented guys, hats off! A masterpiece in gaming that will never be forgotten. This is generation defining.
Popular Post PIOTREK27-1982
Platinum #127 - Monster Hunter World Fun: 9/10 Difficulty: Medium Time: 449 Hours/ 9 months and 3 days If (RNG) god doesn't exist then explain this. I would like to thank all the people who joined my MHW sessions. We made big group with 100 people, so there was always someone eager to play with or help with knocking off crowns. I read a lot about terrible drop rates in this game but in the end i spent most of the time in World/Iceborne on having fun, bonking monsters in the head with fellow hunters and total strangers. Since first Monster Hunter game on PSP i dreamed about hunting monsters with other people. Now my dream finally came true. This is probably first coop game since Borderlands/ Borderlands 2 time that literally blew me away. There was a time when i said i'm done with Capcom (RE6 demo killed my love for the franchise) but this is peak coop fun. The japanese are on fire.

Popular Post Redgrave
#276: Big Adventurer - Sackboy: A Big Adventure I only ever played LBP2 on the PS3 for a bit and when I saw this was announced I was interested in getting this since it sounded like a fun co-op game but the price at $70 was a bit much. Most of the games points have already been said above but I will also say that yeah it's a fine platformer game especially if you can get it on PS+ (currently). If you've played the previous Little Big Planet games there isn't much in the way of customizing outside of what you equip on Sackboy so there's no custom levels. There is some good variety of levels though and they change things up with certain gimmicks like a grappling hook or a boomerang type weapon with my favorite being boots and gauntlets that let you hover and punch lasers. The trophies themselves are simple enough apart from the already mentioned above time trials which makes the Platinum more challenging than it appears but I guess compared to something like Crash 4 it's not that bad. I can definitely see how they could have made the Platinum a lot harder though. But yeah it's a fun co-op game which I thank @Undead Wolf for playing with me despite the weird desync issues the game would have. I can't imagine how it would be if four players were having desync issues ?

Popular Post Moridin83
#262 Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy I was pleasantly surprised by this game. Initially I skipped it because I wasn't willing to take a shot on another licensed marvel game published by Square Enix, but I gave it a chance when it came to PS+ Extra, and I was not disappointed. I guess I'd call it an action game, but the strength is more in the story and character interaction than the actual combat, which while serviceable, certainly didn't set the world on fire. Enemies felt spongy, and your personal combat is very basic, although the team mechanics do add some style to the proceedings. YMMV, largely on if you're still interested in the quip heavy back and forth the Marvel movies have popularized. For what it's worth, I think it's done well here, and I enjoyed most of the character interaction, especially Mantis and Space Llama. However, early game Rocket is grating, even more so than the worst of the GotG 2 movie. I wanted to throw the trash panda into a trash compactor repeatedly in the early stages, but even he grew on me. Unfortunately, there is no scene skip, and limited dialogue skip, so replaying sections for collectibles or combat challenges could be a real chore if you don't get everything on the first run. While the guide on this site suggests a blind playthrough to avoid spoilers, I found PowerPyx's collectible guide to be a decent compromise, as it minimized story spoilers while saving me from replaying chapters. I prefer text and picture to video guides though, so take that for what it's worth. The game is a lot of fun, but best platted in your initial playthrough, as the actual gameplay doesn't warrant replays, and the lack of skipping makes cleanup a chore. If you have PS+ Extra, I'd recommend giving this a shot. If not, it really depends on the price you can get it for.
