  PLATINUM 64 - SILENT HILL 3 HD

Set 17 years after the original silent hill, the game tells the story of Heather, a girl raised by Harry from the very first silent hill game, the game shares the same mechanism of their predecessors, which is exploration, puzzle solving and combat. 

For this HD remaster of Silent Hill 3, they enhanced the resolution and recorded all the dialogues if new voice actors. While doing my run for the platinum i didn't encounter many bugs or problem, i did however, experienced a freeze in the menu and one walking in the streets oh silent hill, which if all honesty, didn't bother me so much, the atmosphere, the game itself is so good, that prevented me feeling bored. 

 

 

 

If this my time of the collection comes to and end, if the recent and sad news about Silent Hills been canceled, i do hope that at least, they can re-release all of the silent hill games to the ps4, is also sad to see a wonderful series like this one being treated like this, underneath the horror, or the fear you may encounter, there's a game if incredible depth, characters and story, that if all honor, has a place into one of my best experiences ever in video games.

#37. Transistor

 

Pretty cool and unique game. I started off not really liking the combat system only because I was frustrated and having trouble really understanding it. Once it made sense and I found some good function combos though, I really did begin to enjoy it. This wasn't really my kind of game but I definitely still appreciate the creativity and work that went into it. The visuals and soundtrack were really awesome and made this game for me. Overall it was a pretty easy platinum that didn't take much time and a fun game as well.

I had read decent reviews about this game, but also read that it was extremely short. Given that games retail at 79.99 here, I was reluctant to pick up such a short game for that price. 

 

Overall I enjoyed the gameplay, the story, weapons and thought it was well done, although my one beef is not being to skip scenes. The Order:1886 is more a movie than game but when you do actually play, it is quite a fun game.

 

Controls are tight and weapon selection I thought was superb. Three Crown shotgun and the M2 Falchion Auto were my 2 personal faves, but all weapons were well done.

 

Although short, it was a great game and I hope there will be more added or at least a sequel to the main character. Pick up The Order:1886 and just enjoy the game. Relatively easy plat, but still worth playing.

#17 - Sonic Generations

 

Difficulty: 5/10

Enjoyment: 6/10

 

Played this previously on the 360, never got to fully complete the game because of the damned challenges (in particular, the Vector 'Modern Sonic' challenge will no doubt piss many people off [in fact, it already has..] simply because of the unstable camera issues and most of all, the collision detection in this challenge felt quite off). Getting S-Ranks in all of the levels should be of no issue except for the final two levels, Plant Wisp Act 1 + Act 2, IMO these were the WORST levels of the game. Overall, the nostalgia is indeed brought together in this tightly knitted package but the real question is:

 

Who actually wanted to go back through the years on some of the 'not-so-hot' levels?

 

TLDR; Sonic fan? Sure, check it out. Not a Sonic fan? Avoid it.

Transistor is an example of an indie game done right. It's mechanics are innovative and extremely fun. The art-style is drop dead gorgeous and the soundtrack is beautiful. I had loads of fun playing Transistor even after playing it twice I could easily go for a 3rd run. I had a lot of fun testing out different builds with the functions, I think one of my most useful builds was Flood mixed with Purge and Tap to deal some damage as well as return some health. Stacking void three times before a fight was very effective for taking out some of the bigger foes quickly. My favorite passives were Bounce for the shield, Void for extra damage and Switch for some cell bait after each enemy is killed. But of course I experimented with most play styles throughout the game, the performance tests especially required a lot of mix + match and I had a flawless build for the final boss and agency tests which guaranteed me a win every time. Overall I'm so glad I finally played this game I would really recommend it if you haven't already played it.

Okay, so before I go into a mini-rant, I just wanna say I did enjoy this game. Some things, however, really got 

on my nerves. The 10,000 kill trophy was the worst part of this, being the least fun grind Iv'e experienced. The 

fastest way to achieve this is to replay one of the missions over and over. I swear I must have played it so many 

times I could complete it blindfolded (that might be a stretch, but you get my point). This was made even more 

annoying due to the fact that I had to watch the same cut scenes because they are not skip-able. OK, enough of the

bad things. The game play was very fun and I liked using each type of gun and replaying the missions was not so

bad because of the different contract types. I liked how stealth was incorporated because that is my favorite way

to play. Overall, I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to any fans of FPS who own a vita.

OK first thing's first. That was a weird trophy glitch. I beat the game on Elite and that trophy popped and that was it. I thought "well that is weird but maybe this game makes you wait through the credits to get the Plat" So I waited...and nothing. Then I beat the game again...and nothing. Then I synced up my trophies...and nothing. Then I turned off my PS3 and beat the game again...still nothing. Then I deleted my game data, didn't install update and beat the game again...yeah a whole lot of nothing. Finally I synced my trophies again and the platinum was there. That scared me a bit .

 

OK on to my thoughts on the game. I really liked this game. I am not very good at shooters but I really enjoy playing them. So I beat this game when it first came out and moved on to other things (remember this was back in 2011 and since I was working for Sony I was getting a brand new game every couple of weeks and didn't have time to plat games).

 

So by 2012 my completion percentage was terrible and I decided to start cleaning up older games. I got all the trophies in this game except for the online stuff, beating it on Elite and the 1500 kills trophy. I put it aside for other games (as I didn't want to do the online stuff).

 

Now for some reason I really wanted to play this game again and posted a status update for online help. Chuck was awesome enough to download the game again (despite owning a physical copy) and got me the rest of the online trophies (thank you very much ).

 

So now it was just me and my Elite run...and I am not very good at shooters

 

Well I persevered and discovered helpful strategies (like not blindly running into a crowd of Helghast shooting wildly) and finally beat the game (well I beat it 4 times as discussed above) .

 

I know a lot of people will say "this game isn't that hard" and that is true but I am really not that good at shooters (despite owning quite a bit of FPS plats).

#14, 15, 16- Sound Shapes (PS Vita, PS4, PS3)

Difficulty: 5/10

Beating the campaign is easy. If you follow a guide, the Beat School levels can be done very quickly. The difficulty of this platinum is the Death Mode levels. Don't be fooled by the high percentage of people who have earned these trophies. People used the cloud sync to unlock 2 extra plats. Death Mode is very difficult. It's based on skill, patience, and luck. Some times no matter how well you do, the dot spawns on other side of the map, making it impossible to reach in time. Just keep taking it one level at a time and you will eventually finish them all. 

 

Enjoyment: 7/10

It was a fun, little creative game. I really enjoyed the colors and level design. I really liked the soundtrack. Obviously the main appeal is getting the triple plat, but I liked it. The Beat School levels were kind of pointless though.

#109 Resistance: Burning Skies

The Resistance games on the PS3 are ok, but nothing special. This Vita game however is mediocre at best. The game throws some characters at you and expects you to care for them, while you've only seen them once or twice. Afterwards the developers put some sad things in it and tried to make you care (which completely failed). Checkpoints are placed in weird locations. There are 8 weapons, but most are useless. The Bullseye used to be such a great weapon and it's completely nerfed in this game. And assault rifle ammo is very scarce. Before enemies die, they show the 'knocking back' animation, which makes it unclear whether you actually killed them or not. Aiming sucks too and I usually shot without zooming in. Also I'd like to thank fellow PSNP member Yadilie for helping out with the mp trophy , since the servers are almost dead. I'm so glad I got this during a sale for €5, because it's not worth to pay more than this.

VANQUISH (EFF YEAH!!!), i can't believe i finally made it. It just took me more than two weeks to beat that challenge six, but finally made it with a time of 21:48:10 (yeah not the best time but for me that's great). Vanquish is a great game and i fully recommend it, although yeah its challenges are hard at least to me, but still is an awesome game that everyone should play. After this i think i can retire finally... Nah just kidding! I'll continue, there's still too much stuff to do.  Anyway gotta keep moving!!!

First of all I'd like to say that this platinum image looks awesome . Normally fighting games are pretty challenging, especially when going for the platinum, but SoulCalibur II (luckily) wasn't. Most mission were pretty easy, but some provided a challenge. First play trough on Weapon Master was literally a walk through the park. Second play trough was a bit harder, since missions got tougher. But even with harder challenges it's still very doable. My favorite character was Nightmare (He's the one on the platinum image aswel! ). He had such an cheap technique against the AI which made me win almost every time. The deaths in this game are cheap aswel. I was often unlucky since I fell off the stages many times. What I disliked about this game was that the fights got repetitive (Especially in those dungeons). Buying every weapon was stupid. Not because I couldn't afford it, but because you had to buy each weapon one at a time, and there are a lot of weapons. All in all a decent game and easy platinum.
