Recent Survey in Japan gives Shocking Results in "What Show Got You into Anime?"

A Survey was made in Japan asking over 10,000 Japanese Fans "What Show Got You into Anime?"

Everybody has to start somewhere. And recently, Japanese viewers were polled about what show got them interested in anime. 

Between August 14 and August 20, website Charapedia quizzed over ten thousand anime fans in Japan, asking them what anime series started it all for them. 

Among those polled, 49.4 percent were men, while 50.6 percent were women. The majority were in their teens and twenties (77.2 percent), while the remaining 22.6 percent were in their 30s. 

Let's have a look at what got them into in anime. The results, and how close some of them are, might surprise you!

Dragon Ball was my first anime ever and is still one of the best out there.

Hmmm, I actually do find the list shocking, and I've never even heard of the anime that ranked #1 Oh well.. I watched anime like Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Trigun, One Piece, Fullmetal Panic, and Fullmetal Alchemist since I was little, but anime that got me waaaay into anime, is Inuyasha. And I didn't get into anime until two years ago? Now all I do is watch anime, anime, anime, aaaaaand even more anime! But as for my favorite anime... It would have to be either Inuyasha, or Naruto. Or both!

my very first anime was pokemon, away back in the late 90s, then dragonball z. dragonball z ocean dub is still the best anime today.

Detective Conan was my first anime and it got me into anime.

Yea, Index/Railgun as first is pretty surprising but what else is?

Like yea, it's kinda surprising that there is so many new (2-3 years old) anime.

 

For me what really got me to anime were probably Death Note and Code Geass.

It would be Robotech or the first Vampire Hunter D movie, both of which I saw in the mid 80s.

For me it was Doremon. It was only surprising at first because I skipped over the part where the article said most people that were polled were teens/young adults.

It's good to see some Gundam on the list . But just like some Dragonball got me into anime, then Gundam Wing. It slowly keeps climbing lol.

Yeah my first anime was Pokemon as well but I stopped watching anime when I got to middle school. I didn't get back into anime until high school. I didn't expect Puella Magi Madoka Magica to make the list.
