5 Worst Games You've Ever Played for Trophies (or Achievements)

I never play games just for trophies, but I play games I think I'll like (or games that were free on PS+) and sometimes get it totally wrong.

This.

So, PS+ games I feel I shouldn't have started:

- Game of Thrones: Booooo-riiing... Need I say much more? I never bought a Telltale's games and I really loved Tales of the Borderlands when I discovered it thanks to +, and even though I'm not that much of a fan of the GoT TV series, I decided to give the game a try. Wrong choice.

- Burly Men at Sea: At least, it's short.

Special mention: Lords of the Fallen: I haven't got the plat on this one, but I think I will go back to it at one point or another to try and finish it nonetheless, even though I'm aware it will be a chore.

Games I thought I would like and which disappointed me:

- Remember Me: I like Alain Damasio's books, so it was a day one purchase, and I was really expecting something else from this game, which isn't actually THAT bad, but is still quite a letdown. The most troubling part about this is that I kind of expected a great story with sub par mechanics, but got a rather fine game with a poor story.

- Fallout Shelter: I'm a fan of the Fallout franchise. I knew it was a mobile game, but still gave it a try. Guess I'm not much of a mobile gamer...

- Conan Exiles: Why? Why? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!

I absolutely regret ever playing bad games for quick platinums and will never do it again! The worst will have to be :

My Name Is Mayo- clicking a jar for 30 minutes isn't exactly fun.

Little Adventure On The Prairie- the worst of the bunch, it was just disgusting.

Slyde- not much to do at all, extremely boring.

Burly Men At Sea- repetitive and annoying.

Mr.Massagy- I wonder if the random facts in this game are actually facts because they sounded pretty wacky to me.

Journey: Controversial opinion here but I genuinely hated this game. Started it thinking it would be good and finished it only for the trophies.

Flower:  Basically the same situation as Journey.

Soundshapes:  Just disliked everything about this game

Contrast: Started it because I thought it looked good but hated every second of it. Put up with it just to 100% it.

The Unfinished Swan: Once again, started it because it looked fine and finished it just for the 100% despite hating it.

I didn't want to put shit like Burly Men at Sea or My Name is Mayo on there because they're hardly even games and the experience ended so fast I didn't have time to dislike either of them.

I only have two that made me question trophy hunting and re-evaluate my hobby:

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture - I caught up on sleep while I played this.

Drawn to Death - I only went after this because the servers were closing and I didn’t want to regret not going for it when servers closed. I want to be clear when I say I didn’t play this game. Marred with a dead player base and poor matchmaking, I boosted the entirety of the game. I didn’t seem to learn my lesson of ignoring closing servers though, as I went for StarBlood Arena when they announced they were closing servers though lol! At least that was a much more enjoyable experience.

On my previous account (https://psnprofiles.com/ludwig-assassin)

I made a lot of EZ games.. It's the main reason why I create a new account ?

But these are the worst :

Jack N' Jill DX - A stupid shit game (10 min to plat)

Hex Tunnel Touch - This game is just awful.. My eyes burned 10 times

Monster High: New Ghoul in School - OMG I don't know how to say...

Mr. Massagy - This game is just bad, really bad
All the japanese visual novel, I didn't understood one of them ?

5. Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage - Boring, awful, slow. Only bought it because it was cheap and I wanted something to do with my hands while watching YouTube.

4. Devil May Cry 2 - Very poorly made game. No weapon variety, no engaging combat, etc most of y'all probably know what's wrong with the game.

3. Persona 5 - Just downright boring all the way through. My first play through was actually for the game but then I wound up having to play through two more fucking times for all the remaining trophies. I couldn't get the Moon guy to send me one of the side quests no matter how hard I tried and how many back up saves I loaded. I'm a long time SMT fan and this game did absolutely nothing for me. My three biggest complaints are boring protagonists and antagonists, easy combat (played on hard), and Morgana. The game gave me a headache playing it and I'm pretty sure it's because of the aesthetics and how much visual noise it has. Subsequent play throughs were atrocious because skip text still feels abysmally slow and pauses each time MC has to make a pointless choice that overall changes nothing in the scene. None of the plot twists caught me by surprise because most of them were blatantly obvious, I even knew who the traitor was right when they told you 10 seconds into the game that there's a traitor. I didn't like the we're so cool attitude MC and the cast seemed to have. All the main cast having absent/dead parents and guardians didn't help anything either because I just stopped giving pity to any of them. There's a lot more I could complain about but let's talk about the one positive thing (Beneath the Mask too): the combat menu. Oh man Atlus that was the best thing you could've done and it better not be a stylistic thing kept only for Persona 5. It should become the norm now for turn based RPGs. Still hate the game.

2. Earth's Dawn - About 6 unique enemies throughout the whole game, only 4 weapon types, and a 30~ hour campaign + 20 hour grind for the platinum. It only costs like $8 for the physical release so that's the only reason I bought it.

1. Zero Time Dilemma - I fucking love 999 and VLR. I was so fucking excited for ZTD. It was one of the biggest let downs in human history. Can't say much without going into spoilers but those who have played the games know what I mean. Just play the first two games and pretend VLR doesn't have a cliffhanger ending. Only reason I have the platinum is it was free on PS+, own all three games on DS/3DS.

5. L.A. Noire-Really enjoyed the story and gameplay this game had to offer. My problem with the game was the collectible trophies. The collectibles are in obscure places and one of the trophies required to drive all 100+ vehicles in the game, which are only available in certain chapters and can be random in terms of spawn locations. Fucking awful trophy, dreaded “driving” those cars. I got the platinum 5 years after the game released.

4. Sly Cooper and the thevious raccooness-My first game I bought because I heard it was an easy platinum. The game was fine but boring since I never played it on ps2. I get it’s geared toward kids, which is fine, but I was disappointed I didn’t like it more. Seems to get a lot of praise.

3. Ratchet and Clank (PS4)-The story and gameplay was serviceable here, only got it because it was a free ps plus game. Grinding to get all weapons to level 10 sure was a slog. Really brought down the enjoyment of the game for me and could not wait to finish and get the platinum over with.

2. Burly Men at Sea- Again another free ps plus game with an easy plat. I appreciate the art style and the different paths the game offered but I’d feel bad for anyone who actually paid money to play this “game”. Boring gameplay, boring story, easy platinum. Good job on that note.

1. Assassins Creed Liberation- FUCK. THIS. GAME. What a waste of money, absolute fucking garbage. Runs like shit on Vita, constantly crashes, lackluster gameplay, poor audio, shitty voice acting, total cash grab. I expected more from one of the rare triple A games on Vita. I couldn’t even get past the first few sequences, I gave up on this game and it’s a crime that it’s 20+ dollars at full price in 2019.

5. Kholat. What a mess. Boring, slow, basically a walking simulator but occasionally a monster annoys you in very obvious, specific sections. Some of the spooky bits don't even function if you don't act the right way. I really liked the concept too, which makes it even worse.

4. Indigo Prophecy. I really liked David Cage's other games, but this was just a shitshow. Bad delivery of lines, awful Simon Says gameplay, Hard Mode was next to impossible... bleh. Not good.

3. Terminator Salvation. Honestly though, even though this one was horrible, it falls squarely into "funny bad" to me. Only two enemy types, terrible cover-based gameplay, and already basing it off a bad movie leads to one shitty game. At least it was an easy platinum though.

2. Dark Mystery. I just played this game and I fucking hate it. It's so low effort, the "puzzles" could be figured out by a braindead chipmunk, the models were obviously stolen off the Unity store, and the animation is so bad that the main character doesn't even close their eyes all the way when they blink. Awful/10 would never recommend to anyone.

1. Damnation. One of the worst games I've ever played, ever. I only even got it because I heard the trophies were easy and it was like 5 bucks at a local game store, and I can see why. It's SO bad. The maps were so shitty I sequence broke almost the entire last level, the characters were so boring I only remember one of their names, the combat was braindead and stupid, the "co-op" makes it impossible to see what you're doing.. I'm literally getting sick just thinking about it. One of the worst games on the PS3, by far. I thought about snapping the disc in half when I finished it just so I'd never have to see it again.

No. 3 : Assassin's Creed Unity

Ok so I admit, I like the Assassin's Creed series. Although the story went to hell with the death of Desmond  (spoilers I guess? AC3 is old ), I like the games mainly cause I am a sucker for history events and I just like screwing around in pijamas in historical settings. Honestly nothing beats an Egyptian dude pulling Tony Hawks on The Great Pyramid.

....Except AC Unity. Why do I absolutely HATE this mess of a game?Because a FRENCH company messed up a game with one of the most important event in the history of France, perhaps even Europe.

Like, ok I get it, graphics (AFTER PATCH ,we don't talk about release,we never do) look pretty awesome, crowds, Paris is recreated accurately, I used the actual map of Paris for Nostradamus enigmas and... it helped. But that's where the fun stops.

Arno is a dumb drunk asshole, the order of Assassins are a bunch of cloaked morons, the " mind reading" and "eagle vision"  mechanic are wtf(seriously arno reads into the past of his victims?WHAT?), Elise is pretty awesome but makes no sense,Marquis the Sade ( the walking Pornhub of the French Revolution) is terribly underused and the antagonist is the second worst evil twirling moustache bastard I have ever seen(the worst will take nr 1). Also glitches over glitches.

In terms of trophies? A fuckload of chests and cockades (seriously check this image and I think there are actually more)

m0Airjy.png

and the infamously glitched Cafe Theatre bug (had to restart the game in order to get the trophy). The co-op missions are fine I guess but I just soloed them.

Also the DLC . I HATED THE DLC. So awfully bad. Also the guillotine gun is flashy but that wouldn't be my first pick when i'd want to assassinate someone, unless assassination = nuking an entire area.

That map BROKE me. I had to stop playing AC: Unity for a week after seeing how many chests I had to open AND trying the Tournament co-op mission solo. ? Went to play Far Cry: Blood Dragon and then came back to finish the game.

Anyways - - -

Why is there so much hate for this free game? Am I the only one who actually enjoyed getting some high scores?

I Myself also enjoyed that game, its made good and is more fun and playable then a lot of other games, i really don't feel it should get the hate it does, i personally would love to see another one

Boring gameplay, clunky controls and very, very awful design (especially main character), the one and only good things about it is easy 100% and being free. It's my personal opinion though, if you like the game and are offended by my statement, I'm sorry.

Tastes are different, I see three posts here bad-mouthing Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series game, despite the fact it's (again, in my opinion) better than The Wolf Among Us and Tales of The Borderlands combined.

In my list I'm going to exclude those fast few hour platinums since really the only point to those games is to play them for trophies or else my list would just be 5 of those games, anyway my list is

5. Sly 2: Band of Thieves -  I enjoyed the first Sly game so a few days later I started the second one, & how much of a mistake that was. I found the second one extremely boring & at times painful to even play, I'm so glad that the trophies for this game were extremely easy & barely required you to do much other than buying move sets & finishing the game. Only reason I have yet to start the third one is because of how much of a disappointment this game was aswell as it feels like another repeat of Jak... which look what's next.

4. Jak 3 (Done Legit) - Oh Jak & Daxter, how I loved the first game so much, then you had to turn edgy & do whatever you did in Jak 2, then you just have to make it even worse with the third one. I hated every second of playing this game, not because it was bad (even though it was pretty bad especially the last boss, that shit was aids) but because it didn't even feel like I was playing Jak & Daxter anymore & felt more along the lines of some edgy third person game set in a Mad Max like world. Plus I absolutely hated the trophies for the game, never again.

3. Assassin's Creed Unity - We all know why this is here, fucking collectibles my man, just look at the map that @Copanele posted & you'll understand perfectly, not to mention the boring story, absolute shit main character & the fuck load of bugs & glitches just to ruin what little fun you can have with the game even more. Only reason it's not higher on this list is because ATLEAST some parts of the game were fun, unlike the next two.

2. Zombi - Oh my god I don't even know how to start this other than saying this game is a hot flaming pile of shit. This game is probably one of the worst zombie survival horror games I've ever played in my entire life & is an embarrassment of a game. Broken mechanics, boring gameplay, shit trophy list, the most basic "story" you could ever imagine, you'd think this game was made by a 5 year old with how basic everything about this game is & it can barely get that right. If it wasn't for save scumming the perma-death trophy I wouldn't have this platinum because I probably couldn't even stomach it at that point.

1. Lords of the Fallen - Oh boy, this is BY FAR the worst game I've ever played on PS4. I legit only platinumed this game because I'm slowly working towards getting the platinum/100% for all souls like games & this one is absolutely fucking terrible. Lords of the Fallen is a perfect example of what NOT to do when making a souls like game, lets run down the list right quick. Slow & clunky movements, absolutely shit bosses where nothing really sets them apart from the others (few exceptions), giving advantages to certain classes, & finally, giving the big old finger & fuck you to agility builds (dex builds). If you enjoy souls games & main playing dex builds then you're gonna get fucked, hard, because of the clunky controls & how little damage you do (that part is important because the last boss heals himself & he'll end up healing more than you can hurt him for using an agility weapon). Honestly fuck this game. It's clear that it was just a cash grab at the success of Dark Souls in order for them to make a quick buck & it's evident since it plays like shit.

Anyway that was my list, if any of you guys agree or disagree lemme know what you all think.

I utterly adore LA Noire (top 10 game of all time for me). I love crime/detective stuff anyway though, its why I kind of like the Frogware Sherlock Holmes games even though they are very budget.

I struggled massively with the car achievement on 360, took me 5 days for my final 10 cars. On XB1, I had virtually no issues with any of the vehicles, so I think they may have increased the spawn rates or something.

Upmost respect intended, because gaming is subjective and your opinion is as valid as the next person's, but Journey is a special game IMO; many consider it a generation indie title. What did you hate about it so much? I never bothered doing it on my profile, because the 100% admittedly looked a bit annoying. As an experience, I can't fault it and I wish Sky wasn't only on Apple iOs.

Although, I do tend to avoid "crappy" games on PS4 (while I have started doing the same for XONE, my main console this gen), I've had my fair share, mostly to take part on some community events (either here or on some other ps/xbox sites). In no particular order:

  • Hatoful Boyfriend I don't think it's bad for the type of game it is. It is just that I only started it for some event. Rushed through it without caring for anything else other than 100%.
  • Game of Thrones Season 1 This was the second time I completed this game (have done it on XONE as well). Definitely the worst TT game I've played. I wasn't captivated at any point by the story, even though I am a huge GoT/ ASOIAF fan.
  • NBA 2K18/2K19 Prelude Not much to say about these. The only reason I played them other than the easy trophies is to check for any changes in the main games.
  • The Order: 1886 Although it is an excellent game in terms of graphics and sound/voices, everything else feels either bad or generic. I would be banging my head through the wall if I had bought it full price.
  • flOw My least favorite game from Thatgamecompany and the Journey Collector's Edition. The toughest completion, compared to the above. Those Sixaxis/motion controls felt really bad in this game (whereas I found them tolerable in flower and Journey).

Some dishonorable mentions from my Xbox gamertag (which can replace 1-2 of the above, since IMHO, these are really bad for the most part) are: Energy Cycle, Mega Coin Squad, Goat Simulator, Need for Speed (2015) and WRC 5.

1- Albedo: Eyes from Outher Space: This game is pure ???

2- Wheels of Aurelia: Extremely boring and repetitive.

3- Catlateral Damage: This game gave me motion sickness everytime, was a painful platinum .

4- Everybody's Gone to the Rapture: Boooooring!!!!

5- Deliriant: This was a cheap ? at least.

(Dis)honorable mentions:

Phobos Vector Prime: The First Ring, Hatoful Boyfriend/Holiday Star, Virginia, Freeze Me, Puzzle Showdown 4K, Midnight Deluxe, Toren and Mr. Massagy.

Now, i'm trying to avoid crappy games, i even bought Inner Space from the humble bundle but i'm not playing it. Lately, my profile is looking way better without so much ?.

Steins Gate and Steins gate zero: Got these free on psn as they had reasonable reviews. But hated the story and characters, as a female gamer all the kawaii moe girls made me feel super awkward at most. This game seemed to be aimed at male players into kawaii anime girls.

Nier automata: I liked the gameplay and design, but found the story to be boring, the sidequests to be nothing more than random errands and all th 20+ alternate endings to be meaningless as they were just a one line message that your characters dies/ corrupts etc followed by a credit role. I think the game could have done much more with interesting side quests that added to the characters back story and development instead of making them random item and robo hunts. I was desperate to get this game over and done with.

Atelier Sophie: This was a free PSN Plus game and my first Atelier game. I enjoyed the concept of the game and found it interesting, but the story was very weak and the post game content for the post game bosses were so hard and it took me ages plus a lot of internet research to get my head around the alchemy to craft weapons and items to just about beat them on easy mode for the trophies. The good thing was that there was no time limit, but I didn't enjoy the post game stuff and how complicated it was to create decent weapons.

Psycho Pass: I enjoyed the story very much, but that horrendous mini game at the end was pure luck based and took hours. I got really lucky and managed to clear almost all the stages, but it was frustrating and took like 3 hours just playing this annoying game. The skip function was also slow but there were so many endings and branching character ends, which made it time consuming for a VN.

Hakuouki Shinkai: I got this because of it's fame in the world of otome games and all the good reviews, and it had both kaze no shou and . But it was heavy on Japanese history with things like Tokugawa, Shinsengumi, Ikedaya incident, the Shogunate, the civil wars that went on etc. all based on true events in Japanese history that without having a good read of it, the game was very difficult to follow. Also it needed a high degree of understanding of Japanese samurai culture and how things worked between the emperor and shogunate. The romance was very little for an otome game, and having to do 12 playthroughs was a pain in the butt.

I love the time period, the style and the setting. I was hoping they would have trophies for The Consol's Car DLC story case.

Likewise I enjoyed the Frogware Sherlock Holmes games. I wish they would make more, even if they are the same game with just different cases.

For the Car Fanatic trophy I had to follow a trick someone posted on PST.org which basically guaranteed you were going to get the cars you were missing. I don't know if they changed that for the remaster.

I don't have a Pro, but does the game run a lot smoother on XB1?

My Name Is Mayo

All of the above ones are awful, but I played for the platinum.

まいにちいっしょ
this one was way back in 2008, had to make a Japanese psn account to get this game. All in Japanese, which I do not speak, was just pressing x over and over. but you had to do it for multiple days in a row. all for 7 trophies. No idea what i was thinking 11 years ago.

The Order 1886

I would say right now that The Order 1886 is a bad game, back in the day I was hoping it would be an extremely good game, but I was wrong, it sucked and I bought when it got released.

Code Realize: Winter Miracles

I´m not the correct audience for this kind of games, because is boring and didn´t understand the story at all, however the trophies are really easy to get.

Orc Slayer: the game performs like it was programmed by a fifth grader an hour before their science fair project was due. Enemy’s hitboxes are wrong, there is a lot of lag, glitches everywhere. Not to mention the combat is extremely redundant. Would never play it again under any circumstances.

1. Grim Fandango Remastered - very boring game, i needed to watch the whole game to get the platinum and the game was just boring.

2. Coffin Dodgers - Awful game, not like other racers, this game is terribly made.

3. Back to the Future: The Game - worst game by Telltale so far, it was boring.

4. Albedo: Eyes From Outer Space - it's made by one person, but that doesn't changes the fact that the game is very ugly.

5. Knee Deep - the most boring, ugly and strange game i've ever played.
