Popular Post realm722
So this thread was a doozy.... Having used this glitch in order to achieve the platinum (used it for The White Palace + All Pantheons).... I get why people who played the game legit would hate it lol. I mean, the closest comparison I have to this which is not remotely similar is I busted my gut and spent a long time on the Sims 4 platinum September 2018. and by long time, I mean basically getting the trophies myself since there was relatively little straightforward trophy pathing. Earlier this year it came out for PS+ and people figured out a method to get the trophies 100x faster than how long I spent doing it and the platinum rate increased from 2.30% ish to the point it's no longer an ultra rare plat. I know - devastating, right? So while I'm just mildly like "aww..." on that - if you're willing to dedicate the time and resources to this game to beat Pure Vessel and the 5th Pantheon, and then you realize a bunch of other people just waltzed their way through it... yea, I'd get why you'd be a bit salty. Let me say - I've beaten some really tough games on PS4 in my "trophy hunting career", nothing like a bunch of sub -1% games but generally games people would consider somewhat of a challenge. Hollow Knight obliterates them all with the elite reaction time it requires. Nothing else comes close. It's such a beautiful cute game that demands the absolute most out of it's player. Hell - I got a sense of achievement just from beating the base few bosses/game. That being said - I bought this for $7.49 on sale, put it off, and then saw there was an invincibility glitch and said "oh... that could come in handy." It really did. I think you could give me the next 3 months of playing daily in order to beat the 4th and 5th Pantheons. I'm not quite sure if I'd still be able to do it. Maybe eventually (but Fector's Challenge in Stardew Valley may push me to that brink). If there wasn't that safety net - I easily. believe this would be sub 1% platinum (maybe 1.2% since this game is still fairly niche on PS4 and so only the die-hard fans of the game have really played it thus far) IN CONCLUSION People who hate the glitch: I get why you hate it if you love this game especially. This game is amazing. You put in the effort and earned it. The rest of us didn't. GG People who used this glitch: We made out bandits. For the best of us, we got to enjoy the incredible visuals/atmosphere and pick up the platinum without spending 30+ hours on pantheon fights.

I also did The Sims 4 before the update, No Man's Sky before taxi services, and the Uncharted trilogy on Brutal without tweaks. Doesn't bother me that some people had an easier time with those. Hell, I hear you can platinum XCOM 2 without ever having to learn how to play the game by using a skip turn glitch. I don't know why you'd want to do that, but the option is there. In truth, lots of supposedly difficult trophies have workarounds if you dig deep enough or have enough patience. Even the ones I did legitimately, like Uncharted on Brutal... I found ways to manipulate the AI. I abused the cover mechanics. I did things that the game allowed but that probably weren't intended by the developers. Is that really any different than save scumming or using an invincibility glitch? On the other hand, I know some people are all jacked up about the numbers. I wish developers would meet players halfway. Dark Souls has a really great trophy for dying for the first time. Most people are going to have that as their first trophy, but the challenge is there to get that as late in your playthrough as possible. I think other games could benefit by having something similar. Celeste, for example, could "award" players a trophy for using Assist Mode for the first time. If you want to prove you're hardcore, make that your last trophy. Obviously, it's not perfect and it's not very feasible for games where a glitch is discovered later in a game's life cycle, but I think it's a fun way to challenge players without forcing everybody to do something unrealistic. On the other OTHER hand, I'm not going to lie. The Pantheon of Hallownest is poorly designed. For a game that had been so well-crafted up that point and carefully eased the player into its difficulty, I think the developers really dropped the ball. That's my concern with this post-Souls game era of video games. Hard for the sake of hard is not good. It's tedious. You can make any game harder by playing it with your eyes closed. Does that make it better? How about if I put a lobster in your pants? What if every time you died in a Souls game, you were sent back to the very beginning and had to recreate your character? Sure, it's more challenging that way, but it would make you a lot less likely to keep playing. When I die to a boss in Dark Souls, part of me wants to give up, but another part wants to keep going. I learned something new, you know? I got on a little further on that attempt or I learned to dodge a move I couldn't before. It's that desire to keep playing that I think is FAR more important than the desire to give up. With the fifth Pantheon, I feel like I'm wasting my time. I have to keep fighting through the same bosses -- bosses I've already beaten plenty of times before, mind you -- to get back to where I was. That's not fun. That's not good game design. I'm not sure what they could have done better, but a boss rush seems like a poor man's idea of post-game content. I've rarely seen that done well in video games. I think it worked in Shovel Knight because there are only a few fights, they're over relatively quick, they blend together seamlessly, and the order in which you fight them is random, but Hollow Knight is not designed that way. There are probably better ways for the player to show they've mastered the combat of the game. That's why I don't think any player should feel guilty for using the invincibility glitch. (At least for the pantheons. You should feel utterly ashamed if you skipped out on the rest of the game.) Just my two cents.
DivineFoxy
Honestly they need to patch this out and simply remove plats earned by cheating. if you cant do it you kinda don't deserve the platinum. just do what i did and practice each boss until you can do them consistant on radiant. then go into the pantheon... And if I do, I will DEFINITELY be using that glitch, no way am I torturing myself again. I did it for guide purposes, but other than that, I in NO way got any satisfaction for it, think you're more relieved that it's over than anything If you were on/off about using the glicth, my advice would be to play legit until the end, then just use it for the Godmaster content. Thing is iirc, the glitch stops you from being able to collect geo, so it's not something you want all the time anyway, more situational Edited July 15, 2020 by Optinooby
Savyna
I don't mind people using the glitch. I did not, but I wasn't aware of the glitch by the time I beat the last pantheon. I can't say I wouldn't have used it if I had known. I took me five months (i think around 30 hours in total for all pantheons) to complete all pantheons because I had to put it down several times out of frustration. Beating easy bosses for 30 Minutes just to die by one of the hard ones and have to go through the easier bosses again was not fun, practicing Zote was not fun (I hate him so much, more than absolute radiance). Of course in the end it felt great to beat it, I screamed at the TV out of joy and was so relieved I made it. And yes, seeing how the rarity decreases and everyone else gets it so easily feels not rewarding but as I said I can't say for sure that I'd not have used it myself. I used glitches in other games too to make my life easier, like Bioshock where you can just change the difficulty after the last boss fight, or the grounded mode on TLOU, where I did all chapters in reverse with all my stuff from my easier playthrough, so almost no resource problems. Not because I'd not be able to do it the intended way, just because it was easier and spared me some time and nerves. DO NOT tell others who deserves what or whatnot. That is judgemental on your part. if some people hate cheaters, MANY people hate egotistical gamer elitists. When you die, all your trophies will be irrelevant anyways since it is not a "real" life goal to live a prosperous and productive life. Videogames are for fun and leisure.
