Trials of St. Lucia Online Not Working

I’m not sure how truly difficult the EA trials should be gauged, but from what I’ve read around, it’s apparently a nightmare in some parts. A GameFaqs thread reports it’s easy enough to justify being a bronze trophy with only a few tips.

EDIT: EDIT: These WERE kicking my ass, but now I’m more or less in agreement with those who describe it as “easy.” The YouTube playlist tells all. It’s not necessarily high execution, just high comprehension as there’s a little rock-paper-scissors to it (as many action games do, like Sands of Time). You just have to know how to kill each enemy as you’ll have different situations to deal with such as magic barriers that nullify the Cross beam, little monster swarms you should just grab for instant kill, and especially how to efficiently take down the blazing Minotaurs (some of which have time limits and one wave which hosts 3 of them). The medals more or less line up with a difficulty curve, but I would still recommend Man with the Glowing Rod, ExtraOrdinary Expo of Awe, and even Gates of Hell 2 earlier (despite their medals) just to get exposure and get comfortable with the different win conditions before moving on to some 4 life trial with 25 waves that will slam you at first like they did to me.

Wasn’t so bad after all.

Where can I find a co-op partner to finish the trials asap? I'm missing like 5 trials but there's no one online when I search

Keep in mind they want boosting requests confined to the sessions. There is an upcoming session to join if you don’t have a contact. Ask him if you need an adjusted time to join.

They are not difficult at all. After doing them earlier this year I came to the conclusion the reason most everyone thinks they are hard and abandoned the trophy 8 or so years ago (myself included) is because the plat can be obtained by basically mashing or hold/releasing O the whole game and none of us learned how to play it properly.

As an fyi to anyone I went back into the trials with no memory of any controls or anything, looked up a few basic tips on the guide on this site and beat all of the trials (single player and co-op) within 3 tries each. Most of them took 1 try only.

Any advice for the combo based events and health drain? Seems like enemies don't die quick enough and also hard to keep a combo when the enemies end up all dying.

Any combo tips to play properly would help too

I think I mostly just bunched enemies up and used regular square attacks. There's also a spin attack i'm pretty sure (L2 and square maybe?) that is good. From what I recall lucia has no issue with these but dante can be a bit of a pain because of enemies dying. For health drain it depends on what you're fighting really. Small enemies can be grab killed for health. Also the divine armor magic gives health regen. If it's bigger enemies something to note, that helps with the combat overall, is that the heavy strikes (the ones where your scythe glows) do a ton of damage compared to other weapon hits so chuck on divine armor and spam the hell out of them. It's those strong hits you really wanna avoid on the combo challenges.

Thanks man I really appreciate it.

You should write a mini guide what levels to save magic for.

Would make some of the missions a bit more painless.

Cheers for the help tho

In all honesty I started the majority of waves activating the magic if I could. :P The hardest part of fights in this game for me was getting swarmed so being able to thin out the numbers / pick off the problem targets easily at the start made things easier all around. There was only a couple times I can recall a wave where you pretty much HAD to have the armor (due to getting one-shotted by mages) and the game is pretty generous about giving hp/mp drops when you need them. If you haven't already done it and wanted a chance to practice moves and stuff I recommend the long trial you get infinite lives for. That was the first thing I did when I went back to this game and by the time I was done with it I was good to go for the rest :) (with dante at least!)

I agree with jimbob about the whole reason being  "because the plat can be obtained by basically mashing or hold/releasing O the whole game and none of us learned how to play it properly". Use divine armor for any levels you struggle with. no other magic is necessary. Don't forget you can remap for trials where the magic is in a position you don't like. circle spam(Dante) and charged circle spam(Lucia) makes almost every trial a joke.
Here's a collection of tips I've used for people I've helped:

Most are the 2p trials arent very difficult, the only one most will struggle with is ascension. Theres also the gates of hell 2, single player challenge which could crash (happened to me 3/4 of the way through it). Bear in mind where your partner is from as the servers are some dial up shit at times

I see they are back up but I purchased just the DLC from UK store (I am in US), it says it cannot connect, is it because I needed to purchase the bundle? I also have the physical edition of the US region game.

Usually aren't DLC region locked? I believe you must buy the bundle from the store

Ya, even if there is only one trophy list often games from different regions are treated as different iterations on your PS3. So you likely need a UK copy of the game to run the DLC purchased from the UK store. Can you access any of the other DLC like the Dark Forest or the extra outfits when launching your US region copy of the game? If not, there's your answer.
