Its not matter of if, but when it was going to get a remaster/remake the second part, guess the ps4 versions of the game will be at a much cheaper price just like uncharted 4 did

Well, i really liked part 2, but a remaster? it doesnt need one.

i´ll play it just because of the easy platinum. other than that, wouldn´t have even thought about it.

I've had TLoU2 sitting on my shelf for awhile now, unplayed. Eventually got to a point where I was just like "might as well wait for the PS5 version"...it's not like we didn't know it was coming at some point. I'll just wait and pay the $10 to upgrade it.

This will absolutely be releasing for PC, so it makes sense to upgrade the console version at the same time so there is parity. Having a native PS5 version just makes sense. It's happened with other PlayStation exclusives too, so it's not in any way surprising or unexpected.

 

There aren't many PS4 exclusives left that can get this treatment though. God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn are the only ones I can think of, and God of War is already on PC, whilst a HZD remake has been rumoured. Bloodborne too, but that's a meme as this stage.

Not needed but absolutely expectable. It was a good game that clearly didn't need any remaster now or in the next 15 years. But money is important to ND and Sony, so...

Certainly not needed from a technical or artistic point of view - the Ps4 version still looks better than a lot of native PS5 games…

…but not doing it would be leaving money on the table, so why not, I guess?

I mean, I guess this isn't the most wild thing in the world, considering Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered happened in even less time...but I'll admit it's kind of a meme for ND at this point. You'd think they'd put all their devs on Factions 2 atp.

That's pretty much where I am as well.  If a remaster is in fact coming, then I can just wait for that.  Plenty of other games to play in the meantime.

Sony are really padding out their first party release schedule with remasters, remakes and re-releases so far this gen. It feels like a result of what Shawn Layden noted about increasing AAA development cycles and PlayStation making the decision to branch out into live service games and spreading their studios' resources out over multiple projects. 

 

I'm sure there's plenty of people who never owned a PS4 and have been able to play some of these titles for the first time due to these releases which is cool, it's just a shame there aren't many brand new experiences releasing alongside them 3 years into the PS5 life cycle.

They gonna resell this woke propaganda again? Talk about zero new ideas. Typical for american companies like Sony, Bethesda or Rockstar. Too bad Druckmann didn't join Ryan in leaving. We would at least have a chance to play fun ND game again.

I think most people expected it.

 

It's also another example of the new cross-media strategy. They make a show or a movie and try to prepare a game release to coincide. PC players had TLOU Part I to play after watching season 1 of the show. Now they'll have Part II with season 2.

 

Yesterday, I heard a joke about The Last of Us being a franchise with 4 entries and 2 games. It's possible the joke is about to get even funnier.

If it were a PS3 game, I'd support this remaster wholeheartedly, but it isn't.

 

What's the point of backwards compatiblity if we are still getting remasters for PS4 games on PS5? 🤷‍♂️

The game was flagrantly anti male all the way through and anti family/fatherhood, the only character I felt sorry for in the game was Mel and the sex scene between Abbi and her ex was gratuitous [ feel sorry for actors in mo-cap ].  Beautiful graphically, but the storyline and ending pissed me off and I wasn't the only one either.  It doesn't need a remaster.

Part 1 is the anti-male one. You spend the entirety of part 1 killing men, not a single female enemy.

This is the most unnecessary remaster ever, but people with more money than sense will buy it again and encourage this lazy nonsense so we never get anything new.

That's not strictly true as there are number of female infected around, and you kill Marlene [ admittedly in a cut scene though ] and there is a female soldier that you kill also.  You also kill [ if you choose too ] the female nurse in the operating room.   All the factions you meet a male only, and they all deserve to die anyway.
