Popular Post rjkclarke
Platinum #312 Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4) Be Greater Collect all trophies. I thought that it was probably about time I finally got around to playing this. another game that I should have played a long time ago but has just sat on my console gathering hypothetical digital dust. This actually might end up being a fairly short post for once, that remains to be seen though haha. I'm very glad that I played this though, I'll be honest I was expecting this not live up to the massive ammount of praise this game has been given since its release, thankfully it did pretty much deliver on a lot of its promise. I played through all the DLC as well, including New Game+. Also how did they manage to miss the opportunity to call the trophy for completing a playthrough on Ultimate difficulty, y'know "Ultimate Spider-Man"? That one almost seems a bit too obvious not to have done it. To be honest it is hard to say anything much that probably hasn't already been said regarding this game. I mean it literally has 220K+ Platinum achievers, it has to be doing something right I guess to generate a number like that, I guess it boils down to the same sort of thing I mentioned in my Assassin's Creed II post about it being a console generation defining game. I don't usually mention story and I won't particularly mention specifics but the story in Spider-Man really is very good, it shines so much brighter than I ever expected it to. Its obviously fairly predictable if you are a fan of the character/Marvel in general, but I think they pepper in just the right amount of evolution to what we are used to seeing with a lot of these characters that they all become quite compelling in their own right. I think they did a particularly good job with MJ. I was very fond of a lot of the character designs too, I liked Peter's design a lot even if he did look like a gene splicing experiment between Andrew Garfield and a Chinchilla, plus Aunt May reminded me of those trolls that you used to put on top of pencil's back in the 90's. (Not sure if those were a global thing or if it was just a UK thing so that troll comment might seem a bit mad haha.) I loved the OST too, thought it was very atmospheric in quite a few of the key story scenes, reminded me a lot of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy in a few places. As far as the gameplay goes, I'm not sure I'm going to be as overwhelmingly positive as a lot of others seem to be. I enjoyed this game a hell of a lot don't get me wrong, but it reminded me of Horizon Zero Dawn in that for me it was the atmosphere of the world and story that kept me invested not necessarily the gameplay itself. This could be my own fault though as I played the entire game and all the DLC in under four days so its possible I just played too much of it in a short space of time, that and I've just played a lot of Open World games by this point. I still very much enjoyed it though. The core gameplay itself is very solid, I think my main issue came from some of the open world elements, particularly all the bases and just general combat related activities, I actually much preferred using stealth so diving headlong into combat which is always a little bit imprecise got a bit tiresome, I think people sort of give this one a free pass for its side content because the map is actually fairly small so it isn't particularly overwhelming, the side missions are very good though, I just struggled a bit with the repetitive combat activities. Part of me wishes modern Ubisoft would tone down their open worlds a bit as well and actually focus on things that are a bit more relevant like Spider-Man does. I won't really give any pointers for the trophies outside of if you see a random crime pop up, drop everything and do them so you don't have to come back later, I tried to combine them with the other open world stuff to stop myself getting jaded, which thankfully did work despite what you might think from reading the last paragraph, so that is about the best advice I can give for trophies. You don't need to specifically worry about anything though, which is why I'm not elaborating too much. Even the DLC ones are straight forward. Ultimate difficulty was really not that taxing, especially when combining it with New Game+, I did the New Game+ play-through in the Sam Raimi Trilogy "Webbed Suit" as well, was great to see that again. I really enjoyed this though, I would of course recommend this to anyone who hasn't played it yet, especially if you are a lapsed Spidey fan, its great if you need to scratch an Open World game itch that isn't too overwhelming.I've just looked back over this and it turned out to be longer than I thought it might be. WHOOPS haha. Still Spider-Man really exceeded my expectations, I look forward to playing Miles Morales whenever I manage to get hold of a PS5!! Popular Post Carol
#209 Life is Strange 2 All Roads Traveled Unlock all Life is Strange 2 trophies. I knew that people had mixed feelings about this game and maybe that's why I waited so long to play it. I recently found it on sale for just 10€, so I bought it on a whim, because, for this price, I wouldn't lose much, even if I didn't like it. I tend to agree with people that say that this game isn't that good. It isn't terrible, but it's just...boring. I actually liked the first two episodes; I thought they were good and interesting enough, but then things start getting tedious in episode 3 and the game never really recovers from this. It's like you're watching a boring documentary about two boys of Mexican origin, trying to survive together and going back to Mexico, after losing their father. Daniel's power is also nothing amazing and I thought it was quite forgettable and maybe underused. There's nothing wrong in a game approaching matters that are important to today's society, but a game is a game; it should be engaging and have some action and emotion, not feel like you're reading a newspaper. Spider-Man: Miles Morales, for example, is such a fantastic game and it also manages to make a statement and to support important subjects. One thing that I thought was really well done was how each episode was introduced with a summary of the story up to that point. This was made with drawings, telling the story of the brothers as if they were wolves, meeting other animals during their journey. I actually think it would be a much more creative way to tell this story if the characters were actually animals and not people. I also liked the ending that I got, which was "parting ways". I didn't think Sean deserved to be in prison, because I always tried to make the most righteous decisions. It was satisfying to see that both boys were as happy and stable as possible, considering their circumstances and even if they aren't together and that Daniel was using his power to help people.

Darghel
On 18/3/2021 at 9:12 PM, Dav9834 said: I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it I loved it, though if I played it now probably not much. It came out during a time when FF was at a low, and it was so refreshing to play a FF game that wasn't tied to FFXIII at the time I think if you played it back then you may have liked it, maybe. But either way congrats on the plat! I think i remember yes, but seriously, my main issue is how crippling the game is: I'm certain on psp it was limitations that made the game this way, but there's such a lot of stuff that really could've used more polish. I mean even the menus and everything screams "rushed psp port" I'm heavily biased against final fantasy, and I can't lie on that, however I went in this game really hoping it would be good, my mind was very open and after the beginning, I had myself hooked for the possible plot twist, anything really...but nothing happened, nothing was explained, and it dared to ask me to replay the game again for understanding the plat? Sorry, Nier Gestalt (or automata) this is not! I just hoped they'd improve upon the psp version but it seems the only "HD" thing in this port was the graphics (and the english dubbing I guess?) and nothing else. A shame, that's all I can think. Popular Post Ode2Destruxion
Old Man's Journey (PS4) #41 Life, loss, reconciliation, and hope A nice little game with great character that comes alive through it's art, music and storyline. The music is poignant and sweet as you journey through various landscapes as an old man who gets flashbacks of his life at various points. The aim is to move the landscape around the old man so that he can complete a path to get to the next area. It's well thought out and enjoyable. The platinum has one tricky trophy along the way that may take a few attempts but every other trophy is just clicking in certain areas. 8/10 Edited March 23, 2021 by Ode2Destruxion
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#537 - A Plague Tale Innocence This was a but of a rough one. It's like one big escort quest, that thankfully doesn't get too annoying. I expected a bit more out of this considering the fairly high ratings this has gotten. Visually it looks pretty good, as is the music. The gameplay is where it falls a bit flat. THe whole game reminded me a lot of Shadwen, without the rats. This game being clearly the better of the two. Still, the more interesting things only become available towards the end and the fun ones you don't get to use often enough as a result. Popular Post Zatzuken
#10 Death Mark I haven't played a visual novel in a long time but i really enjoyed it, i did need to use a guide though as i didn't expect the exploration sections to be quite as confusing, the console version has an extra chapter so i think i did the wrong thing playing the vita version but i really wanted to play something in bed, i look forward to the next in the series. #11 The Order 1886 I played this when it first came out and loved it, so it was on the list of games i wanted to complete again on this account (along with Vampyr for its very similar setting) knocked the whole game out yesterday and loved it again, although some of the shooting scenes had too many enemies, it starts messing with my head that this small rebelling just lost hundreds of people to one guy and is still a threat haha. My next game wont be a plat hunt, gone do a few more games off my backlog first then hit Vampyr for number 12

Popular Post postofficebuddy
Platinum #140: Bloodborne Fun: 9.5/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Also got the 100% as well. The Old Hunters is pretty much one of the best DLCs ever. The difficulty rating is probably a bit higher than it needs to be. I should have tackled the DLC before the chalice dungeons. The defiled chalice was absolutely brutal. I think I died close to a hundred times between the watch dog and Amygdala which is also why I deducted half a point from the fun rating. I used the 3 heir rune trick to get 67 million blood echoes from the Living Failures which probably would have made that chalice drastically easier. For contrast here’s a video of me killing Orphan of Kos first try. Overall I’d say this game is a masterpiece. Definitely a contender for game of the generation. I really regret not finishing it sooner but better late than never.
Guest
#200 Persona 5 Strikers Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 4/10 A wonderful sequel to my favorite game of all time, with a few grievances letting it slip from being perfect. Pros: -Excellently told story with even more memorable characters and moments -Top-quality dialogue and voice acting -The new gameplay is a terrific mix of turn-based and real-time combat -Music is as perfect and stellar as it's always been, now with new songs and a few revamped ones. -The major villain and all of the smaller villains are brilliant -Although not all of the personas from the original made it through, there's still so many to get and so many of those are genuinely useful. Cons: -Although I don't know how they couldn't added them in, the lack of the silly mini-games and activities you could do in the original is missed here. -The confidant system is, like the mini-games/activities, missing as well and it's kind of weird having a modern Persona game without this. Though they did misplace it with the Bonding stuff, but it still didn't feel fully right. -The Eternal Bonds trophy is rough. I can the concept of the story since in a sense it makes you truly 100% the game (without counting difficulties), but the way you get through is a very tedious. It's a painstaking grind to level 99 bond and the best way to do it is through beating the game request/enemy repetitively. I genuinely don't know if the developers wanted you to grind this way or if they wanted you to keep playing the game over and over until you got it. It feels 100% identical to the All Skills trophy in Sekiro, in which you're just grinding for hours mindlessly. Even in the original Persona 5, which took me over 200 hours compared to Strikers which took me roughly 70, the trophies were all manageable. Even the getting-all-personas and all-confidants-maxed-in-one-run trophies were doable because you still had to actively play through the game and try. Eternal Bonds just seems so out of place because it takes so long and seems shoehorned in to make the platinum last longer. -I am absolutely furious they didn't put it my favorite Persona Girimehkala in the game and I feel pillaged because of it. I'll never fully recover, physically or emotionally. TL;DR: A near-perfect sequel that is bogged down by one trophy and its abandonment of a couple of franchise staples. If you can get over that, you'll have a brilliant time. Edited March 23, 2021 by ChunkyKong64
Popular Post TwilightSpira
PLATINUM 250 - PERSONA 5 STRIKERS Now that is what I'm talking about, Bring it on Phantom Thieves!!! At first I was a bit skeptical with the change in gameplay but as soon as I started playing while summoning my personas in real time I said okay, that rules!! The story follows after the ending of the original Persona 5 game bringing the whole gang back together to a summer trip across Japan. I won't go into details to avoid spoilers but all I can say is that even though Royal isn't involved there's enough new charm here to compensate. The only sad part about it is that this may be the last instalment with my new favourite gang, nevertheless I'm certain PStudios will wow us with P6 and oh boy I can't wait. Here is the plat popping in full glory for those that want to see!! Edited March 23, 2021 by TwilightSpira

Guest
Maquette Enjoyment: 6/10 Difficulty: Completely depends on your puzzle solving skills An interesting enough puzzler with beautiful music Pros: -Looks beautiful -Gorgeous music -The size-changing aspect to puzzle solving is pretty interesting -I didn't really pay attention to the story, but the parts I did see seemed nice. Cons: -I never like speed-run trophy since they bring out my anxiety, even if these ones aren't terrible (especially with speed-run strategies). -Although some might like the blindness the game provides by not really telling you anything or directly how to do something or where to go, I could've done with a little bit more guidance simply to know what the fuck I was suppose to be doing. Popular Post Draps-1337
#115 Virginia Super straight forward game. Requires a second playthrough for no reason (the last gold is literally 'finish the game 2 times') luckily it's only 90 minutes-ish. It's clear it was heavily inspired by Thirty Flights of Loving, which isn't a bad things. More games should make use of the time skipping to give a more cinematic hands-on experience.
