Popular Post Undead Wolf
#425 - Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut Platinum Trophy Zach, it's over, all finished. It's time for you to leave town. Are you ready to go? Now this is pretty much the definition of a divisive game. Some people absolutely people hate it, and given its many undeniable flaws, I can see where they're coming from. However, I would put myself in the category of people that see something special in this game. Its roots as a PS2 game are clear to see from the terrible-looking graphics to the janky/stiff gameplay. The story, acting, and characters are all very cheesy, but these things all add up to what make this game so damn charming. The soundtrack also adds to that Deadly Premonition experience. Who could forget that iconic whistle theme? It just wouldn't be the same without having that blaring in the background during the goofy scenes. ? I know SWERY, the game's director, took heavy inspiration from the show Twin Peaks when making this game to the point where there are many similarities between the two. Some people even call it a rip-off. I couldn't really say since I haven't watched the show, but now I'm curious to check it out myself. The trophies in the Director's Cut of the game are all tied to beating the main missions and completing all the side missions. Nothing's missable because you can replay chapters whenever you want. In fact, you're encouraged to do so because you can't do more than one character's side mission per chapter. It's useful too because some of the side missions have some good rewards that you'll definitely want as you progress further into the game. The radio in particular is a must have because it acts as the fast travel. Without it, you have to drive around everywhere, and that's a pain considering the stiff driving controls and the map which is hard to navigate. I think it's a shame they took out the difficulty options in Director's Cut and made the combat the equivalent of that original version's easy mode. Having a hard difficulty and a trophy attaching to beating the game on that would have made it a more satisfying list to complete and given the weapons you get from the side missions more purpose. Still, even though the game isn't a challenge to plat, it was still enjoyable since you basically have to experience everything the game has to offer. Lots of interesting character interactions that you wouldn't get if you just plowed through the main story. I don't know much about Deadly Premonition 2, but it would be nice if we got a PlayStation version of that someday. Maybe even a remaster of DP1 to sort out the game's technical issues. We can only hope.

Popular Post JoaLoft
#301 - Pac-Man World Re-Pac Pac-Man World Re-Pac is a remake of a much older 3D Pac-Man game, and it stands the test of time! ... Mostly. The story is very simple: Pac-Man's friends and family have organized a birthday party for him, and the infamous ghosts crash the party to kidnap everyone. They snatch everyone up... Except their main target, Pac-Man, who arrives late at the birthday party, only to discover his friends and family need saving. He sets out to save them from a small army of ghosts and the mysterious Toc-Man: a big robotic fake Pac-Man. In six different areas ranging from a pirate ship to ancient ruins, space and a factory, you guide Pac-Man sidescrolling through 3D areas to survive obstacles and save everyone who was kidnapped. Each area consists of 3-4 levels including a boss at the end. Throughout each level you can also collect fruit to open gates to collect the letters of "Pac-Man" for a bonus level, to find hidden 3D Pac-Man mazes to complete or to increase your points as you eat iconic small pellets or big Power Pellets to eliminate the ghosts. More points equals to more extra lives, so searching everywhere to pick levels clean rewards you immensely. And the more you collect, the more lives you can score extra at the slot machine at the end of each level. The game is very forgiving in that regard if somehow you do end up screwing up: it hands out those extra lives like candy! When I beat the final boss, I had a total of 334 lives to spare. That is an insane amount of retries that I never even needed, because the boss fights are surprisingly easy too. They can be challenging if you mess about, for sure, but once you figure out how to take them out (and trust me, you do if you're paying attention), they are sitting ducks. One small detail that does deserve a small nod: saving all your family members and friends does reward you with a happy ending, so yes: there are two endings available. There's some natural incentive to try and complete everything. This all amounts to a game that you can be done with in less than ten hours. The simplicity of it all offered very little challenge. And yet, somehow, it was not a waste of time. I actually had a lot of fun being able to unwind and play a straightforward and charming platformer like Pac-Man World Re-Pac. It certainly manages to offer Pac-Man a proper 3D place, and introduce this entertaining platformer to a new group of gamers who missed out on a more modern entry. Do I recommend you go and pick this up straight away? No, it is way too easy and short for that. But you should definitely play it if the game crosses your path at a big discount or if it lands on Plus. Most frustrating trophy - Retro Gamer And then there was "Retro Gamer". This trophy is such a massive difficulty spike in comparison to the rest of the platinum trophy that it caught me completely off-guard. Once you finished absolutely everything the 3D remake has to offer, there's one final test waiting for you: beating level 9 on the original Pac-Man game. This means beating nine levels consecutively with three lives (four if you gain an extra life by gaining more than 10.000 points) in one go. Doesn't sound hard, you'd think. But it is: the four ghosts chasing you become more and more aggressive the further you get, and those Power Pellets to gobble them up wear off faster and faster. The one certainty you can hold onto, is that there are specific patterns hidden in the levels. The ghosts move in a very specific way in the first thirty to sixty seconds, give or take, giving you a set path where you can safely eat up about 50-75% of all the pellets without having to improvise constantly to dodge the ghosts. The four Power Pellets you'd save for last to keep the Ghosts away while you eat up the last pellets. The ferocity with which the ghosts will come after you at the end when you must improvise, is relentless. It requires luck, and fast reflexes, but mostly luck. And it took me many hours to reach level 9 and beat it without losing all of my lives. It boggles the mind, but I had more trouble beating this than I did achieving the platinum trophy of Outlast 2. That's right, as ridiculous as it sounds: beating Outlast 2 on Insane difficulty (i.e. on Permadeath Mode) without a spare battery was easier for me than busting my ass through original Pac-Man to reach and beat level 9. And all because your success is based on luck and randomness. I acknowledge that Pac-Man was instrumental to the world of video gaming, but if anything, this trophy has achieved one thing: I never want to play through OG Pac-Man again. EDIT: The new official Pac-Man theme is pretty damn catchy though! Edited October 15, 2022 by JoaLoft

Popular Post Cellcrash1991
#64: Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon Party like it's 2024 Win all trophies in Spyro 3 After beating Spyro & Spyro 2 (which was a fun trip down memory lane) this was all new to me since I've never played Spyro 3. This one's surely the most complicated one of the trilogy. I actually got bored of it quite fast, probably because I started it right after completing the 2 previous games. I eventually got to the "Lost Fleet" level and there the game has lost me. I didn't like the level at all, ejected the disc and for the past 6 months (or so) it was just staying in it's disc. I even took a brake from gaming in general and watched some series instead and focused on completing some Pokémon card sets. ? Then came Stray, which was free with Playstation Plus, and it got amazing reviews so I downloaded it. A few days ago I started playing Stray and platted it and enjoyed it a lot. But there was really nothing left to do after you've finished the story so I was looking at something similar to play and what's better than a cat? Yes, a dragon. Spyro The Dragon! After all this time I finally put back the disc in and struggled through "Lost Fleet" (which I still hated at this point) but when completed, things got better and I was back into Spyro. Taking a break can do wonders. :-) But with this one done, I've completed the trilogy and all-in-all it was a blast! But for now it's time to say goodbye to this little guy. Spyro, amigo, take care! Goodbye for now.. but maybe we'll meet again someday. :-) Enjoy your well-earned rest in the Dragon Shores. ✌️ Edited October 15, 2022 by Cellcrash1991

matrelli01
On 13/10/2022 at 1:54 PM, Destructor-8 said: Assetto Corsa - Platinum #118 A True Sim Racer Sim Racer 0.22% Community rating - 10/10 Personal rating - 10/10 Enjoyment 7/10 The toughest game that I've ever finished is now complete! I've already posted this on a status update earlier this week so most of this will be familiar to whoever read that then. I have actually been doing the stack at the same time, which is something I don't recommend anyone to ever do. This isn't something that I would recommend unless you either have a wheel, decent sim experience, the willingness & determination to learn what you are in for or even a mixture of all those. It can take a long time to get accustomed to something like this whilst trying to understand where you are losing time during the hotlaps can at times seem very overwhelming especially the closer you get to the required times. There are exploits out there to use if needed to do these although I didn't use those so it did take longer to do some of these. The races have many work arounds thankfully as those were absolutely stupid at times. If the races were required then I don't think that there would be any achievers for this at all. The last thing is that if using a controller then a few hundred hrs is something that would be required to do this. I'll first explain below how this all came about & why I originally started this so I will put that below. I first started this up back in 2020 to try it out to see if I could do what was known as arguably the toughest racing platinum. I didn't have GT5 at the time so that was something that I got a hold of later down the line. There is also Dirt Rally 2.0 Flatout but that is purely a DLC instead. I had a go at this one since it was very much recommended to be done with a wheel rather than a controller, which is what I wanted to use for it. I tried it out over a few days & got absolutely nowhere on it. I couldn't get used to how it handled so I decided to do other stuff throughout the rest of 2020 instead. It wasn't until I came back to it until 2021 last year to be a bit more serious with it since I had improved overall. I went straight into one of the hardest hotlaps & after a week of practice I was finally able to do it. I had a lot of other games to do at the time so I had to put it off for a bit knowing that it was going to take a lot of time & practice to do everything in it. I did actually end up attempting the GT5 Vettel challenges in 2021 as I now had a good comparison. I did everything except Suzuka where I was just about a second off of doing it over a week. I had done a lot of other stuff at the time & wasn't enjoying the pure difficult nature of that either so I went to do some other stuff to change things up a bit. It wasn't until earlier this year where I was finishing up the rest of the Gran Turismo series where I decided to get back to Assetto to just get it done. It's been a bitch getting through some of these hotlaps considering how much time these can take. There are exploits available to use as well as traction control that can be used for certain cars but I didn't wanna use any unless it was for the stack. There was a point where I didn't have any motivation when I got to what I would say is the hardest one of all. I already made a post about it but I just couldn't seem to get it. I was able to finally do it though since I needed even more precision than before to do it. I'll put this one below. The difference between using a wheel or not is absolutely huge since apparently there is a lot more understeer with a controller. This along with not using traction meant that quite a few took even longer than usual. I still would put Vettel Suzuka above this overall in difficulty since it is not as repeatable & requires more muscle memory to do. I need to finish it off to be done with the Gran Turismo series though. I'll also list the time & difficulty that I would personally order the hotlaps in as these can be different for everyone depending on the order that you do these in. I will say as a note that these aren't rated in trophy difficulty but personal after hundreds of hrs of sim racing practice with a controller. The trophy difficulty of every one of these would be above almost anything in a racing game especially if it's a sim too. 1. (10/10) / (22hrs) - Alpha 4C vs Green Hell 2. (10/10) / (28hrs) - Clear Ahead (Need to rate again) 3. (10/10) / (20hrs) - A Whole New Toy 4. (10/10) / (20hrs) - Forbidden Record 5. (9.5/10) / (7hrs) - Demon on Wheels 6. (9.5/10) / (3hrs) - Flight Simulator 7. (9.5/10) / (4hrs) - GRA Challenge 8. (9.5/10) / (2hrs) - British Racing Green 9. (9/10) / (1hrs) - Your Time Will Come 10. (9/10) / (3hrs) - Alessi Says, Step On It 11. (9/10) / (2hrs) - German Fury 12. (9/10) / (2hrs) - Italy 1987 13. (8.5/10) / (2hrs) - Free The Beast 14. (8.5/10) / (2hrs) - Thunder 15. (8/10) / (1hrs) - Look at me I'll put the final one that I did below. I'm gonna do the stack for Assetto although I don't ever recommend to do this back to back. I don't think that I will personally ever top this platinum even though I have got some pretty tough ones planned that I would like to take on sometime. I will at least have some more motivation to get back to doing the Dirt Rally 2.0 Flatout DLC now especially as that one is even more draining although I have done quite a lot of it already. I think I'll be putting that one above this though so I'll do what I can when I get back to it. I appreciate all the kind words so cheers to all! Respect. Incredible what you have done!!! You can be very proud of this one.

Popular Post Biscoito18
#141 - Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water Frame Fatalist Platinum in 2 weeks and 2 days Rarity: 15,37% (Rare) Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 One of the best horror franchises rising from the ashes. It's been a while since I've seen a platinum that asks you to do everything in the game. It's a long list that requires at least two playthroughs in a game that already loves repeating locations and enemies. A little tiring but at the same time the atmosphere is beautiful and the gameplay is addictive. #142 - DreadOut 2 The End Is The Beginning Is The End Platinum in 5 days, 5 hours Rarity: 44,74% (Uncommon) Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Another game where you fight spirits using a camera. It has some pretty creative moments, an interesting mythology, and decent graphics. The big problem is the frustrating combat, especially in chapters 6 and 7 where, for example, some enemies can lock you in a loop where the protagonist's recovery time isn't enough to escape another blow. Despite that, I really enjoyed most of the game.

Popular Post Undead Wolf
#426 - Little Nightmares II Primetime Content Consumer Your life is now free of challenges. Congratulations I played the first game last year and I loved it, so I knew I had to make the sequel one of the spooky games I binged this October. I'm very pleased to say that this is just as excellent as that original game. I loved the new monster designs. I think my favourite one had to be the teacher you come across in chapter 2 with that long neck, but they were all extremely creepy in their own ways. The game is absolutely beautiful in an eerie kind of way. I love how the story is all told through the environment and the small character interactions all without any dialogue. It's left up to your own interpretation, and it made me want to look up fan theories after beating the game just to see if other people came to the same conclusions I did. The biggest addition to the sequel is companion character who you're with for most of the adventure. I think it only added to the experience because you end up forming a bond with them which made some of the later scenes quite impactful. The trophies in this game are really simple. It's just a matter of beating the game, getting all the collectibles, and doing a few miscellaneous tasks in each level. The first game had that speedrun without dying trophy which I kind of wish they had in this one too, but oh well. I really enjoyed my time with the game even if it was short-lived. It's a shame to hear Tarsier Studios are moving away from this series after being acquired. I suppose there's always a chance Bandai Namco finds another studio to make Little Nightmares III, but it would be a tall order to deliver something as good as these two games.
