Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #126 - Metro 2033 Redux Platinum Trophy - Get all Trophies. 170,060 Owners - 21,634 Achievers for a percentage of 12.72% (average completion; 29.10%) Enjoyment; 8/10 Difficulty; 4/10 Trophies; 7/10 (straightforward list, nothing too frustrating - but also no creativity) Is that a Librarian? Oh shi- ; 10/10 I'll admit, I love a bit of slavjank. Our friends in Eastern Europe have produced some incredible games over the years, even if the most famous titles to have come from the region have stereotypical post-apocalyptic settings. I don't blame the devs for that, in some cases they only need to step outside the office if they're in need of some references for the desolate hellholes they are creating virtually. Most people prefer the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games but I personally like the Metro series a tad bit more. Set in the metro tunnels and stations of Moscow in 2033, two decades after a nuclear war devastated the surface of the Earth, Metro 2033 Redux recounts the story of one young man as he tries to save his home station from certain ruination at the hands of supernatural creatures - fighting off horrifically vicious creatures like Nosalises, Watchmen, Lurkers, and Communists as he drags himself from one unfriendly station to the next. It's a claustrophobic, harrowing experience, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed while playing through the original game, released in 2010 for PC and Xbox 360, and while replaying this updated version on my PS5 (even if the atmosphere has been impacted a little by some of the improvements made for the re-release). A few levels have you climb up out onto the surface, but I personally had the most fun with the stages that forced you through the cramped tunnels. Of course, as you'd expect given the settings, this is quite a linear experience with very little if any opportunity to divert from the path the developers intend you to take - this is a pure A to B to C journey, although quite a few of the levels do give you the opportunity to take little side paths that let you play stealthily instead of going in guns blazing. Although I'm by no means familiar with the real Moscow metro, this is a very immersive game through a set of mechanics that you wouldn't expect from your typical FPS game. You're expected to scrounge around for resources, but have actual reason to do so for once; many levels require you to wear a gas mask to stay alive, and gas masks require filters which are in short supply and need to be pilfered off corpses. Ammunition is just as scarce, especially in Survivor mode, and matters are complicated by the fact that the currency used in the world of Metro isn't coins or bills, but actual bullets. As player you have the choice between Metro-made bullets that hardly do any damage to enemies and military grade bullets that pack a punch, but are also your only means of restocking supplies at the handful of vendors in the game. A stroke of genius to have an economy like this that forces the player to carefully weigh their choices; should I literally burn through money to try and survive, or will I depend on awful sub-standard bullets? On the few occassions where I deemed it necessary to reload my guns with military grade bullets, I really felt the need and pressure to make every single shot count. Brilliant stuff indeed, and an experience not replicated outside of this series. If you're a very casual player of FPS games, you're probably best off not descending into the Metro - the game goes as far as to force you to rely on a wrist watch to determine how much air you have left in your gas mask filter, and on higher difficulties you will choke out in no time at all. The easiest setting doesn't coddle you all that much either, as the analog watch seen above gets replaced by a digital watch with no further concessions made beyond giving you a bit more time before suffocating. I do like it when games demand you wear your big boy pants even on the lowest difficulty - after all, Metro is an experience intended for mature audiences, of whom it can be expected - and should be demanded - that they earn their place in its world. As for the Plat, it's really rather straightforward. Play the game twice - once in each mode (Survivor for the authentic experience and Spartan for those who like to go in guns blazing) - on any difficulty you like, one collectible Trophy that can be mopped up via chapter select, one Trophy for unlocking the good end by accumulating enough moral points, a few tied to stealthing certain levels, and pretty much everything else is a variation of 'Score X kills with weapon Y against enemy type Z'. Those are hardly a bother, as the game features a fantastic arsenal of cobbled together weapons that really fit the world, from a shotgun made of bicycly parts to pneumatic weapons that require you to pump a handle every few magazines less you run out of pressure halfway through a clip. Again, mechanics that tie seamlessly into the world the devs here have crafted, without frustrating players to the degree Far Cry 2 did (where your weapons unironically break from minimal use - I still have nightmares from that online grind). If you're looking for an experience unlike any other, give Metro 2033 Redux a try - and let me know if you liked it. It's free on PS Now in Europe currently (which is how I played it), and is packaged in with PS Plus Extra elsewhere. The game has two sequels, Metro Last Light which is also available via Plus and Metro Exodus (PS4 & PS5 versions available), which I feel is overdue for an appearance as a monthly game on Plus. C'mon Sony, it'd be such a great opportunity to introduce the series to so many people.
Elvick_
Platinum #231 Swamp Defense 2 VictoryAll trophies completed Fuck this game, good grief. The balance is all over the place. I had to grind and even that didn't make it good sometimes. Certain levels, probably about 5-7 total (out of 50 something + the bonus levels) are just ridiculous for no reason. You find something that works and then it just ceases to work for certain maps and there's no consistency. Some maps it's better to have level 1 towers en mass, others it's better to plant one tower at a time and upgrade it before doing another. Some maps feel like they're almost impossible to start off. I was watching a video on one level and my coin rewards were significantly less than whoever was playing on youtube. Not sure what that was about but it was frustrating, I was a good 600 coins behind the video despite following it exactly. I went in expecting some mediocre tower defense, maybe even somewhat bad but playable... and while it is playable, and I'd say it's not entirely bad, a few of the levels and a lot of the design choices are very bad. THere's not even a replay button. The UI is god awful. The waves start automatically, even the first one. I got caught up playing another game instead of writing this, so I"m tired and can't be bothered to put any more mental energy into this stupid fucking game. It's certainly no Kingdom Rush, that's for sure. Oh but I have to point out that the game slowly increases the health of enemies without any visual difference so it's hard to gauge what will actually die. Other tower defense games have different enemy types for that purpose, but this one just says "fuck it" and increases the health of existing enemies so you never know what you're going to get. Great design choice. Edited June 19, 2022 by Elvick_

Popular Post Moridin83
#216 Shadow Warrior 3 This was disappointing. I loved SW 1, and 2 still had some fun moments despite being an overblown mess. This one was just trying too hard. Graphically, it's decent, but that's the high point for me. They replaced two of the main voice actors for cultural reasons, but the new guys didn't feel as good, plus the game had audio synch issues in cutscenes for me. Mouth movement was not that close to the vocals in most of the cutscenes, and the cutscenes lagged in general. Gameplay wise, it's really pared down, excessively so. All the levels are 90+% linear, with the only diversion being for upgrade orbs, which makes that feel cheap and unnecessary too. The combat is almost all combat arenas, with clear influence from Doom Eternal. You have very little ammo, and you mainly regain ammo/health by using melee or ranged weapons on the enemies, and finishers are even reminiscent of Doom. The combat never really has that visceral feel though, so you're sorta just there, but not that in to it. Story has never been a strong point of the series, and that trend continues here. Game is plattable in under 10 hrs with a single playthrough. If you have PS Plus Premium and really want to check this out, go for it, but I wouldn't recommend it. Very mediocre entry and I'm just happy I didn't pay for it.

Popular Post Undead Wolf
#411 - Synergia Platinum Body Unlocked all other trophies for Synergia. This is a visual novel that takes place in a cyberpunk setting. It's about a cop who has to deal with android-related problems, so already you can see the Blade Runner influence. The main character, Cila, reminds me a lot of Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, and they even include a quote from that series during one of the transitions, so it makes sense. What separates this game from the media it was influenced by though is that it's essentially a yuri love story. Without giving too much away, the main character starts living with this advanced android who's closer to being human than a machine, and the main character's cold/distant personality starts melting away. It's pretty sweet and doesn't take away from the larger plot. The art style is pretty nice and it has some pretty good music as well. It took me about 4 hours or so to read through the whole thing (there are 2 endings and a bonus epilogue when you get them both). I would definitely recommend it if this at all sounds interesting to you.

Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #232 Ape Escape [PS5] No Ape Can Escape!Collect all other Ape Escape Trophies. Started this earlier to have something actually fun to play. And while I still feel the controls are a bit janky these days, mostly due to the camera, it was still fun. I tried to think of how to fix it, and the only idea I could think of to use the right stick for items and camera is to hold one of the shoulder buttons so R1 or L1 probably would be easiest. Doesn't really solve the awkward jumping being a shoulder button. But, it's still super fun anyway. Framerate can be a bit awful sometimes and the cutscenes are jittery. I can't remember how it was on the NA version on PSone back in the day. It's been so long. I just wish the platinum required you to beat the game, at a minimum. Ape Escape 2 didn't even have a platinum but required more time investment (and iirc also didn't require 100%). At least it has a platinum I suppose I should be grateful for that much and that this game was finally re-released in some form. Will probably plat it again on PS4 eventually just because I can. The final level was loooooooong, I was stunned really. Never beat the game before, neighbor kid had the game and I Played it that way. The last level could've been like 5 levels and 2 boss levels lol. With the built in save/loading and rewinding in the emulator it makes it super easy for the most part. Of course you can choose to not use it too. Might do that next time. We'll see. It was fun to play some more Ape Escape. I love this series, it's so silly and unlike anything else in terms of gameplay (that I'm aware of). I wish we got more. Popular Post MakotoKaCun
Platinum # 113 Devil May Cry 5 Devil May Cry Finally got the platinum for DMC5. I Play most of the game but I m pretty bad at it especially the older one most likely because I was still at a pretty young age. But Glad I was able to Platinum the latest one after a few year after the game released ! So far I liking the story of the game as it really is a typical DMC game. nothing much special, but you will know most of the stuff if you played the previous game. The game reward you for not spamming one move. Getting a S rank is also not that hard as long as you know what you are doing. The only hard thing was completing the game on Dante Must Die & Hell & Hell mode. I think I have more replay in Hell & Hell rather that Dante Must Die. As it don't have checkpoint. But I saw alot of pro player which can clear it very easy. But not me as I need to be careful of carpal tunnel. As i got it before from my first company LS. working on AAA game. But in the end this is a very very good game to play! Only thing we don't talk about guess is DMC2 only

Popular Post Zircon_Lotus
Platinum #121 Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed Another Neptunia spinoff to my list, and another action one. This time we go full the Senran Kagura route, ripped clothes included. The goddesses work on quests while Dengekiko and Famitsu, two Gamindustri journalists write articles about them. While I criticized MegaTagmension for having only half of a story, Action Unleashed lacks one althoghter. It is only there to justify why things are happening, but there is nothing of interesting. The gameplay, like I said, goes full Senran Kagura. The difference is that they dont get completely naked, and losing your clothes is actually useful, making you stronger. But to me the main point is that the combat is far better and more satisfactory than in MegaTagmension, it is almost unthinkable that this game is older. And we have actual difficulty, especially early on. The platinum is grind heavy. Basically I did not need to farm for the medals, because of how much repetition of the mission ends up being necessary. The Gauntlet is easy even on normal, specially after you get some accessories from beating previously. Neptral Tower is also not a problem, the real headache is the Lily rank grind. There is really no quick way to grind, and it takes way too long for something that does not give any rewards, not even a brief dialogue without voice acting. It is very tedious, definitely was the hardest part to me. Hyperdimension Neptunia Action Unleashed is a fun spinoff from the Neptunia series. Even if it is lacking in story, the gameplay is good, and make you wonder how could MegaTagmension be so bad. But be warned that this platinum requires patience, because the end game grind gets boring really fast.
Popular Post Valzentia
#48 - Air Difficulty: Visual novel/10 Fun: 8/10 I've seen the (admittedly depressing) anime before, so I figured i'd try out the visual novel, especially considering the platinum is actually stupid easy and I had an hour to kill while travelling. Popular Post DesmaBR
Platinum #175 Grand Finale Obtained all trophies in Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk. Aight, so this has been quite a long time coming. It took me 3 years, in fact, ever since I've first played it in January 2019 And that's all because of that damn Three Towers of Umbra stage I honest to god could not figure out how to get past that stage, multiple times I would try to start this again and get stuck again. It really wasn't until last year when someone posted the actual full maps of each area alongside a full walkthrought of the game, that I've actually managed to find out what I had to do. Of course, I would end up getting stuck again at the final boss of the game, so that was unfortunate. At least then I just knew that I just had to grind a bunch. It sounded pretty boring, so I've shelved it again. But, recently, I've decided to go back to it and push through it. I've grinded for a few hours... and the final boss went by really easily, oops. Of course, that was just the normal final boss; to plat the game you do have to beat the post game final boss, and that's one scary mofo. Even with my party all at lv 99 and playing on Easy, it was still a pretty close fight. I am glad I am finally done with the game, especially now that the sequel is announced to be coming out next year. Really wanted to finish this before that got released. I personally think this game is stellar, this truly is NIS at their best. And if somehow the sequel is half as good as I hear people say it is, it might end up being my favorite game ever.
Popular Post mmico
PLATINUM #70 : I AM BREAD DIFFICULTY : 8/10...but legit 10/10 for Cheese Hunt TIME : 35 hours of gameplay give or take FUN : 7/10 ( 0/10 for Cheese Hunt garden ) FRUSTRATION : 10/10 ( rampage and cheese hunt ) man what a journey this game was. I initially bought this game in 2017 for under $5 iirc, hearing it was hard and wanting a challenge. couldn't even get past the first level, deleted it, and forgot about it. Fast forward to this June, and I was bored and decided to re-download it, and commit to trying to plat it. I am so glad I did. I found a brilliant guide by @Bushido_Cypher, and it took the difficulty from a 10, to a manageable 7.5/10 IMO. Small Item Flying made the game much more doable, and through trial and error, I found myself getting rather comfortable with the mechanics. Story mode was tough, but once the mechanics felt natural, I cleared it in around 4/5 hours. Bagel Race was the easiest of the modes IMO and I finished it all in around 2 hours. Rampage was very annoying and the second hardest IMO but I finished in around 8/9 hours. Zero G was harder than Story, but easier than Rampage, finished it around 4 hours. Cheese Hunt.... man... fuck this game mode forever. besides garden, every level was fairly simple the only tricky one was Garage, but even that pales in comparison to garden. garden..... the hardest A++ in the game by some magnitude, took over 10 hours on its own. Garden A++ was one of the hardest things I've ever done in gaming, it you have no clue what I am talking about, just watch a video on it and see for yourself. I had in total out of the hundreds of attempts only 3 runs that made it to the final cheese on the light above the boxes. 2 runs that finished 2:23, and 2:21. and the final attempt of garden... 2:15. GL if you attempt! Was fun nonetheless!

Popular Post Karl-Kai
The Adventures of Tintin Marlinspike's heir I'm so happy to have this platinum finally! This was one of my very first PS3 games and whilst I really enjoyed playing it, I never managed to achieve all of the trophies back then. Now, much later, I decided to revisit this yet again just to vibe with Tintin once more and to round up the remainder of the collectibles --- yet, somehow, I felt like re-trying to knock down the insane plane challenges and that parrot stage speedrun. To my surprise, I actually managed to get all of them done in one day, but I can say that going for them was not entirely fun, lol. The game, otherwise, is super entertaining and pretty chill; mistakes are not heavily punished. The co-op mode is also one of the most creative ones of the two-player games I've ever seen. I got my big sis (who is not a gamer) to play the co-op with me and it was great. This game is full of charm to me, but maybe some of that comes from the fact that I've been a fan of the Tintin series all my life. Nevertheless, I think this is a very fun game and one of the PS3 games I'd recommend other people to try out as well.

Even though I enjoyed RDR 1's story more I can definitely say RDR 2 is better in everything else by far. I personally think that the game is way too easy so I decided to play 90% of it without using Dead Eye. Provisions and tonics are too good and easy to find so you basically never die unless you're afk. Unfortunately, bugs ruined both my singleplayer and my online experience significantly so I'll have to go with a 9.
