Popular Post Redgrave
#247: Platinum Trophy - Devil May Cry A long time ago before the cyborg ninja Raiden or the angel slaying Umbran Witch Bayonetta and even the god slaying Kratos, you had a half-demon Devil Hunter with a red coat named Dante with his trusty .45 caliber pistols and a sword. And technically before that he was Leon Kennedy in what started out as Resident Evil 4 but became its own game. But this isn't my first time getting the Platinum for the game since I got it years ago on PS3 and so I figured I would have it be one of the few games I would stack if I can. So I was pretty familiar going in the game this time and knew what to expect. I remember the first time playing it on PS3 was one of the first games where I got over a game that was considered pretty hard and even playing it again I can see why there were parts where I definitely struggled with but I handled them a bit better this time. Going through the game again was great and I have no real issues with it other than the camera angles being kind of funky but it's not all that bad. I think the only times the camera winds up being really disadvantageous is a couple platforming sections and during the Nightmare boss fights since it can be hard to make some precise jumps and for the Nightmare fights the boss itself will cover the screen which makes it hard to see where you can jump on his back to hit his orb. Beyond that I still think it holds up well and I found the combat fun even if pretty simplistic compared to other games and even future DMC entries. In some way I kind of prefer it when it's simplistic compared to how the later games focused more on big combo strings. It was also great seeing the cutscenes again especially ones where Dante gets impaled by a sword and just gets up from it because I remember when playing it on the PS2 it blew me away since I wasn't used to seeing or playing as characters that can just walk off getting impaled in the chest by a sword ? Since I knew what to expect the trophies and what to expect for the Secret Missions they weren't so bad. I also remember the Enemy File trophy also being more difficult but I wound up getting it a lot easier this time around. I only had to leave two of the Secret Missions for a future playthrough because they involved fighting more than one of the Shadow enemies a bit early on which was a bit much to deal with. The only thing I really struggled with was remembering how I dealt with the bosses properly since I know I handled them a lot better when I played it on PS3 but I think I just forgot the methods I used for them and it was especially difficult on Dante Must Die difficulty where they are more tanky and hit harder. But that's why I farmed Holy Water and Untouchables in Normal playthroughs ?

Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #123 & Platinum #124 Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl [PS4] & Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl [EU] [PS5] Leave Everything to Me! - Collect all the trophies [PS4] Leave Everything to Me! - Collect all the trophies [PS4] 5,512 Owners - 1,073 Achievers for a percentage of 19.47% (Rare) (average completion; 32.82%) [PS4] 3,004 Owners - 605 Achievers for a percentage of 20.14% (Uncommon) (average completion; 31.10%) [PS5] Enjoyment; 7/10 Difficulty; 2/10 Trophies; 4/10 (reuse of key art, but uninspired requirements) I played the same game twice; 10/10 This was quite rare for me; actually playing a 'free' PS Plus game the same month it was added to the service - heck, the very same day it became available! Normally all three of the monthly titles are a miss for me, but for June this year the inclusion of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was a nice surprise. Only eight months old (came out in October 2021) and already on Plus, the hallmark of a dying/dead multiplayer-focused game that didn't quite capture a sizeable audience. Although the same could be said for the Naruto/Boruto game that was also included this month, alongside God of War which has now been given away through pretty much every available avenue. Without trying to do the game a disservice, this is a Super Smash Bros clone (or 'Platform fighter' if you will) and as with pretty much every game in that genre, a given title's strength (or weakness) is its roster. Nickelodeon obviously has a long and storied history with plenty of suitable candidates to pick from, but I found the selection offered here rather surprising. Again, not doing anyone a disservice, but this game seems catered to manchildren/parents and actual children in equal measure as quite a few of the characters included should be completely unknown to today's grade schoolers. What five year old has ever heard of Ren & Stimpy (none, hopefully) or Powdered Toast Man, or of Invader Zim, Catdog, Reptar, Nigel Thornberry, Helga, Danny Phantom, and.... Oblina (I'm nearing 30 and even I didn't know who she(?) was. I had to look her origin up, and I don't think Aaah! Real Monsters was ever broadcast in my country. To be fair, my home didn't receive Nickelodeon until 2004 - was always a Cartoon Network kid first and foremost. Thinking about it, when was The Last Airbender last broadcast? Those characters might also go over kids' heads. And not to mention that the two included Ninja Turtles and April O'Neil are based on their 80's designs, rather than on their guises from the gazillion reboots they've enjoyed since. Never thought we'd see April as an actual readhead again, but here we are. Clearly the devs were banking on the game resonating with an adult audience who would actually remember all these characters from the 90's and 00's, further evidenced by the expansion pass they put out which features 00's characters Jenny Wakeman (I absolutely loathed My Life As a Teenage Robot, that was an instant channel changer for me) and Hugh Neutron (who is more of a meme than anything else these days) and 90's icon Rocko. I suppose it's a clever tactic, as it's the parents who hold the purse strings most of the time. Anyway, it's a nostalgia-fuelled platform fighter. Mash buttons until the other guy is launched off the screen, straightforward enough brief. I think I'm probably the only regular on the forum to have now played Nick Brawl, Playstation All Stars Battle Royale (before that name came to mean an entirely different genre), AND the little known Cartoon Network Punch-Time Explosion. Yup, CN had its own stab at a game like this almost ten years ago now. Comparing the three, PASBR clearly had the highest budget but I found it surprising that even CN seemed to be a more feature-rich game than Nick. It had a full story mode (think Smash Bros Brawl's Subspace Emissary) which Nick lacks, but then it feels like more thought and care went into the actual gameplay for Nick. The game plays really, really well and holds your attention in that regard, but it's a shame that the uninspired modes that accompany it end up failling to compel. A lame 'Arcade' mode which is just eight randomized battles per character, a 'Sports' mode that's essentially hitting one of five balls into a goal (each ball associated with a separate, uninspired Trophy), and... well, just your standard online play. Can't comment on the netcode as I'm not that well-versed in fighting games, especially when it comes to online modes. The modes are where the fact that this was a budget title really shines through. Heck, the game launched without voice acting of any sort, which was only patched in the day it launched on PS Plus - perhaps its inclusion on the service might have actually given the devs the budget to get a handful of quips per character in, quite a few of which are done by the original actors. Glad to see that money reinvested into the game, because where the game can already fell a bit cheap currently, it would have been worse still when relying solely on dialogue windows. As for the Plat, it's an okay experience that will take about 8 to 10 hours without any real challenge coming your way. Three of the four difficulty-related Trophies can be stacked in one match where you cheese the AI, and while you have to grind fifty online matches and the Arcade mode for each character, you only have to 'compete' (not 'win) in the former. This meant that on more than one occasion I faced players online who just instantly suicided as that's the quickest way to get to fifty - funny how easy it is to pick Trophy hunters from the crowd. The Arcade mode can just be played on Very Easy mode, and dretty much everything else on the list was taken care of by spamming Leonardo's OP X-button attacks. As the game offers a cross-region PS4 list and a EU/NA-based PS4 list, you can stack this bad boy albeit without any auto-pop, meaning I earned both my Plat fully independently from one another. It never really became grating in the end - the lack of content is responsible for that - and I had good fun throughout thanks to the gameplay being up to scratch. And my main girl Toph is included on the roster so can I really complain? Ultimately, whether you should play this game or not will hinge on how much you like Nickelodeon and whether you can stomach a largely repetitive experience propped up by solid enough gameplay. But since it's currently 'free', you might as well give it a whirl right? Edited June 13, 2022 by Golem25

Popular Post Zircon_Lotus
Platinum #120 MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune vs Zombies MegaTagmension is another spinoff of the Neptunia series for the Vita. This time around the turn based gameplay from the main games and Sega Hard Girls was ditched for an action game, very similar to Senran Kagura. The story is about the girls trying to save their school, Gamecademy, that is about to close due to a lack of new students, all while battling a mysterious zombie disease. They decide to kill two birds with one stone: battle the zombies while using the fights to make a movie, directed by Blanc and with Neptune as the protagonist, that is to be used to attract new students and save the school (and make Blanc receive an award while at it). Personally I found the story interesting when I started, but the execution felt very bland. Most of the cutscenes are from the movie, that arent actually that interesting. When the girls are talking as their normal selfs it is much better, but there are so few cutscenes like this, and they are not long. The combat is really bad. Most of the characters are clunky, the lock-on system is terrible, there are fps issues, and you fight the camera as much as the enemies. The EXE Drives's, supposed to be your most powerful attack, will miss most of the time. It is laughable. Thankfully the game is very easy. This is not something that I often talk about, but the interface of the game is really bland, like they did not care. Too basic and with no personality. And I dont know who thought that making the characters talk when you do literally anything on the menu was a good idea. It gets annoying really fast. The platinum is short, but is way too grindy. Japanese games are often like this, but when you spend more time grinding than playing the story you know that there is something wrong. Personally I did not take long to get the treasures or the dark history parts. The long that I grinded for a single one was for about 1 hour. The real longest grind is to get to lvl 99. While playing the story I tried to choose the characters evenly, so when I finished the one with the highest lvl was around 25 (Nepgear). She was the one that I chose for all the multiplayer grind, and only when I was close to finishing that I got her to lvl 99. In the end I did not like MegaTagmension. Maybe my expectations were too high for a spinoff, but this game needed more polish, care and love. Seemed like they decide to quickly put something together for some cash. Without doubt my least favorite Neptunia entry, and unless you really want to play all games, I dont recommend this one. The only good thing were the girls on school uniforms.

Just like the PS4 version, the only nitpick I have with it is that one trophy that requires you to play a a whopping 80+ races, which of course gets tedious after a while. Other than that, its the best kind of trophy list; one that encourages exploration of the game and its mechanics. It's also in my opinion the best alternative for those who don't have a nintendo console for Mario Kart, and one of the best racers I've played. And that's also ALL the Cars platinums! Popular Post KenjiCBZ
#75: Uncharted: Golden Abyss Platinum (12.82% - Rare) Collect all other 55 Trophies for this Trophy. This game is the main reason why I had decided to buy the PsVita. I was lucky enough to find a dude selling his Vita literally five minutes away from my home, and this very game was also included! This was on December 31, 2020, and I had made the purchase as a self reward for getting a new job and buying my first own car. That's why I am very fond of my Vita and this game. During the past year and half I have played various games on my Vita and got various Platinums, but this is the first Vita exclusive that I platted, and as such, I made it one of my milestones: my 75th Platinum. In fact, my first Ps3 and Ps4 Platinums were also milestones (Tekken 6 was my 1000th Trophy and Tekken 7 my 1st overall Platinum). About the game, Uncharted Golden Abyss lived up to my expectations. It's a very good game, and while you can see the Vita limitations, it's not so much worse than the other games, it's a solid entry in the series that deserves to be played. I like how it uses the Vita functions, and this game alone proves that such big games on the Vita could have worked: this handled deserved better. About the Trophies, Crushing difficulty was much easier compared to the other games in the series, and near the end of my Platinum journey it was very annoying to farm the RNG based collectables. This is just very bad game design, and thank god they dropped that for Uncharted 4: I think I spent at least a good 10 hours for those last few Trophies. But regardless, playing this game and getting this Platinum was a great experience, this game deserves to be played.

Popular Post Karl-Kai
Monark Monark Master Such a good game, this! The battling was really fun, and the level-up system with the skill charts was a nice one; anyone could grind points for anyone. The neatly designed and customizable fiends that worked as your team members were to my liking. The story was pretty interesting, though I admit it had some beats I did not like... Out of the companions you could recruit, my favourite was Ryoutarou; a guy who was both fierce and relaxed. Kinda like a laid-back tsuppari. When it comes to the trophy list, I found this one to be on the easy side. Most of the trophies just came naturally while playing, though some grinding was needed at the end. I rarely buy games at full-price so I wouldn't break the bank, but I think this time splurging a bit was quite justified.

Popular Post ZitMeatloaf
#101 - Immortals Fenyx Rising "The End" Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 7.5/10 This game clearly draws heavy "inspiration" from Breath of the Wild. A glide mechanic is the main way of getting around, you can climb anything you want, there are vaults instead of shrines, oh yeah you can't climb anything you want while in the vaults... sounds an awful lot like BotW to me. But if you're going to imitate a game you could pick far worse games to mimic than BotW, and as a result it's still a lot of fun. #102 - A Short Hike "Vacation Maximized" Difficulty: 3.5/10 Enjoyment: 7.5/10 This adorable little game has more stuffed into it than you might think at first glance. Still not a long game by any means, but there's a lot here in a small package. The boat races are the only activities which may cause a bit of frustration, and finding all of the collectibles is a little annoying even if you're using a map. #103 - Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal "Hero of the Galaxy" Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 Rounding out the original trilogy on PS3, this one felt a bit grindier than the first two games. You can see them starting to really experiment with wackier weapons. Classic fun. #104 - SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom "Neptune's Spatula" Difficulty: 2.5/10 Enjoyment: 6.5/10 This was my first significant exposure to anything SpongeBob related. Pretty good old time 3D platformer, pretty good humor, nothing too difficult standing in your way. #105 - Darksiders "BFA" Difficulty: 5.5/10 Enjoyment: 7.5/10 I bought this game waaay back in 2010, played it once and for whatever reason I never picked it up again.... until now!! I'm making slow but steady progress at knocking out the PS3 backlog and decided to try this one again. If you like the old God of War games, you'll enjoy this. I decided to play on apocalyptic difficulty right away to avoid a second playthough; if you play on an easier difficulty first and do a second playthrough on apocalyptic with the Abyssal armor, the difficulty would probably drop to a 4 or lower. My new longest time to completion platinum at 11 years, 6 months, and 2 weeks. I kinda doubt I'll have any plats with a longer time than that. So, hooray? Popular Post Mipsy
#16: Wing of Darkness (PS4) ** Played on a PS5 via PS4 BC ** Aerial mecha games seldom take flight anymore; I had to check out Production Exabilities' WoD (at a steep discount, -not- its MSRP $30 entry fee) in memoriam of their heyday. Decently enjoyable yet scarily brief, WoD serves as an uncommon example of a game that should've overstayed its welcome. WoD's small budget shapes a minimal backdrop. Klara Ernst and Erika Loerzer are two young women - our playable protag, Klara, the overwhelmed yet determined newcomer; her senior, Erika, the wearied yet stubborn veteran - who become Fraulein, aerial specialists equipping mechanical exoskeletons, to combat an unnatural foe. (Strike Witches much?) The ladies' appropriate conversations belie much left untold, much less shown, across WoD's half-dozen missions. Said missions *are* a fair blast between Klara's rudimentary loadouts, but WoD /really/ would've benefited from a couple extra stages to unveil its narrative and expand its repertoire of mission objectives. =\ In-flight itself, weapons feel acceptable & the dodge-boost zips along nicely; only lock-ons can frustrate, what with the surplus of small-sized, zippy opposition. 'Least the score matches the action; Mission 6's urgent electronic BGM stood out highest to me. Trophies pose little labor. The considerate @The7thINFANTRY posted a beneficial thread that covers a couple of the grindiest golds. I'll chip in for a couple others. For the trio of shot count golds, the Saw will bag the secondary gold in one mission flat. The Stapler machine gun and Klavier missile battery tally the highest respective shot count for the primary and tertiary golds; I especially advise Mission 3 and its wide glider targets to rack up the missile battery's tertiary shot count. Lastly, one *can* accidentally exit a stage's area of operations (i.e., fail a mission) yet successfully earn Wings of Steel by merely replaying the flubbed chapter from Chapter Select - I learned from experience, having foolishly flew outta the zone early into Mission 2. OTL Whoops.... Zassy's PS4-on-PS5 Report: No hiccups, no crashes, nothin'. Loading times shrank, albeit not drastically. Never encountered the increasingly taxing (re)loading that 7th reported inside that tips thread, come to think. WoD looks slick on a PS5, too, although draw distance remains more or less equivalent - and 'ocean water' still resembles a wavy blue carpet. -3- #17-18: Sakura Succubus 4 & 5 (PS5) First expectation, met; second expectation, upended. Sakura Succubus 4 definitely felt unnecessary and frivolous, adding next to nothing to this Smut SaGa either by characterization or by succulent (ha) CGs. It also recycled the same damn dull title menu tune, which had worn out its welcome before completing Sakura Succubus 1, and littered a handful of commonplace scenes with unexciting branching dialogue choices when, in my estimation, the first entry already functioned the most tidily out of all its sultry sistren in unfurling as nearly a kinetic novel. Glad I took a chance on Sakura Succubus 5 (& its 4x less irritating title screen tune) tho' 'cause, in addition to its breezy locational shift to central Europe /plus/ its return to 'modestly' more substantial plot sequences, as a pseudo-reboot of Winged Cloud's longest-running VN subseries, 5 succeeds markedly better as an actual continuation of these dalliant Hiroki Harem Hijinks - which, to quote Penny Arcade, are so high, you'll need an altimeter. ...okay, not really~ Honestly, beyond funding Gamuzumi in their quest to further ecchi-fy consoles, as well as "rebelling from within" for 2022 fan service on a 2022 Sony service - a damned frickin' PlayStation 5, no less! ò.ó - I could largely leave or take Sakura Succubi. Other service-y video games arose earlier and, to this gal (who def. fancies her anime ladies), supplied superior. Moreover TBH this effortless subseries merits 100%s, not Platinums. But eh, heckles. Go figure that 5 rekindled my investment into the cast just adequately enough to continue future entries. Well, that, plus - ...too garish, mayhaps, for this MRP thread. .3. Peace~ *vanishes*
