That's my backlog session done. Unable to get anymore done from my backlog list in under two days when both games have over 100 hours gameplay.

 

Ouch. in one way 11 years is a great return but it's bad timing for it to pack up.
My first PS3 is still going strong but sold to a family member my second only lasted me 4 years and the third has not had any issues yet.

That's a massive effort on the backlog mate. Nice work.

WE HAVE A WINNER! Congratulations to fisty123 on becoming the season 2 champion for the Great Australian Trophy Hunt (Division 1). Fisty had put in strong performances throughout the year and finished 8/10 backlog games, with 3 of them completed in November, it was enough to get him over the line.

 

WE HAVE A RUNNER-UP! Congratulations to CrestfallenV on becoming the runner-up champion. Crestfallen spent most of the months hovering around the middle for points earned each month, however a dominant effort towards backlog games (a record 9/10 for the GATH) saw him holding 1st place overall for a few months uncontended.

 

WE HAVE A SECOND RUNNER-UP! Congratulations to MattyH16 who has for the second year running placed 3rd in the GATH. He had many strong finishes in the monthly points contests and even held 1st place overall for a time! However, a lack of interest in his backlog (a mere 4/10 games completed here) seems to have held him back. No doubt he will be smarter in his backlog selections next year and come back better prepared...

 

I would like to congratulate everyone in Division 1 for their participation and performance each month. Everyone here has their own unique personal circumstances and a different approach to their gaming and trophy hunting. I am proud to have competed with you all

 

I would like to thank everyone across Division 1 and Division 2 for their participation on the thread. Your support and banter has made this a very entertaining year. Ladies and gentlemen like yourselves are what make this competition so special. I have constantly looked forward to jumping on to PSNP to see what's been happening here in my absence.

 

I would like to thank @CjShai for his constant presence and participation on the thread mainly but also his partial stint in Division 1. Who knows how the leaderboard would look had you stayed...?

 

Finally, I would like to thank @TheWayne-o for continuing the GATH for season 2. I think we have been even more successful than last year and I can only see the event getting better.

 

PLEASE NOTE: We will be posting a few questions to everybody here about the GATH. We would really appreciate feedback from everybody as it may help to shape our third season and we want to know your thoughts and ideas. Now that the pleasantries are done, I would ask that you all still feel free to post and interact here. We will post more about Season 3 as we fine tune a few things, so stay tuned for details.

Yep, one last update ?

 

I'm pretty happy with achieving 6/8 of my personal challenges. The big one for me was to hit 200 platinums, which I have smashed out of the ball park. At the start of the year, I really wasn't sure if it would be possible, having just had a baby back then. I also found that maintaining a good completion rate can be very hard if you are like me and you try to focus on one game at a time but then there are so many good games out that you get distracted and lost for a good while. It's something I hope to focus on more next year.

 

4/10 backlog...yeah, I'm not particularly happy with this stat. On one hand, I've completed 4 games that REAAAAAALLLLY needed finishing. Alone In The Dark was truly painful to play, awful game and highly (not) recommended. I would suggest to you all who return to season 3: Pick games that you actually have an interest in playing.

 

I personally enjoy reading these sorts of posts. We may be competing for the top spots, but I want to see you all succeed in the ways you have chosen, whether it be earning 50 platinums in a year or decreasing your unfinished games to 20 or breaking into the Aussie top 100 on the leaderboards. I hope you have enjoyed reading about my trophy journeys this year and I look forward to reading about some of yours next year, or even now if you'd like to say how you've gone this year.

 

Just on an admin note, I will endeavour to get the quiz/questions up by sometime next week at the latest. Anyone who participated in the C2/C3 league this year may recognize a couple. I'll tag everyone and look forward to your answers.

While a lot of of us here will be taking place in the summer comp (Good luck to all involved)
I will be taking a break from the backlog games as I am slowly taking myself into starting Star Ocean: The Last Hope Remaster. For anyone that knows this game from the PS3 version the plat rate can range from 400 hours up to 1000 hours.

Season 3 will be a 9 month competition again, there are a few of us competing in Simp's Summer Challenge so I don't want the two competitions to overlap.

You have joined an elite group of people (and by this I mean @CjShai) that can claim such an achievement. You're name shall forever be engraved within this competition's thread inspiring many to lift their trophy hunting game in the hope to join you someday at the pinnacle of this...sport? Summary:

So here we are at the end of another season (I'm surprised that we made it to a second season to be honest )! Before we get into the November results and the final standings I just want to thank Matt for his help looking after Division 1, he's put in a lot of work to improve the standard of stats and monthly summaries you guys get which has also forced me to step it up in Division 2 as well. I also want to thank each and every one of you for participating in the competition this season, without players there wouldn't be a competition to begin with! I've enjoyed the discussions we've had in this thread throughout the year but even more so I've enjoyed the banter and friendly competition that has arisen from this competition, hopefully you guys feel the same. Next year there will be a few changes to the rules again as we search for a perfect format (well as close as we'll ever get anyway) for the competition so keep an eye out for the new thread appearing around the beginning of February, we look forward to seeing you all again for another season!

 

November ended with a total of 21 platinums being earned between 8 players, a great effort by everyone this month as it represents the best result by some margin for both the total number of platinums earned and the number of unique players earning platinums! . It was also impressive that 8/9 scored players improved their completion percentage over the past 3 months, nice.

 

Congratulations to Lightning_0608 for a second consecutive win, this continues her excellent late season form and makes it 4 consecutive podiums. Not to mention her absolutely smashing the previous highest points total for a month, she earned 1177.5 points compared to fang7744's 594 in August! Also a massive congratulations to adam1984123 who completes the season appearing on the podium every month, the streak lives on! A shout-out to olimoo101 for finishing this month in 3rd, knocking fang7744 off the podium and making it the only time in the past 4 months that a new face has appeared in the top 3!

 

A few changes to the leaderboard this month, Lightning_0608 jumps TheWayne-o into 4th sport pushing him down to 5th in his own competiton (what a loser! ). Then there were a number of changes at the bottom of the table: Diagonis83 moves to 7th (from 8th), Z1MZUM jumps off the bottom right at the post into 8th and avoids the wooden spoon, olimoo101 does just enough to retain 9th as mekktor is pushed from 7th into last (it doesn't help when you have several months of not earning trophies).

 

The battle for the Tim Tams is over with feral611 making it look easy in the end and winning by a margin of 62 points (243 vs 181), congratulations mate! I talked a good game but at the end of the day that's all it was with feral611 providing the goods in the actual trophy count. Now the question becomes what flavour of Tim Tams will he choose to consume in the wake of his impressive victory!? It's not over yet though as next season will see TheWayne-o out for revenge to settle the score in another epic battle, we're also going head to head again in The Aussie Summer Challenge! Don't worry about The Ashes, this is the single biggest rivalry on the planet today!

Summary:

So here we are at the end of another season (I'm surprised that we made it to a second season to be honest )! Before we get into the November results and the final standings I just want to thank Matt for his help looking after Division 1, he's put in a lot of work to improve the standard of stats and monthly summaries you guys get which has also forced me to step it up in Division 2 as well. I also want to thank each and every one of you for participating in the competition this season, without players there wouldn't be a competition to begin with! I've enjoyed the discussions we've had in this thread throughout the year but even more so I've enjoyed the banter and friendly competition that has arisen from this competition, hopefully you guys feel the same. Next year there will be a few changes to the rules again as we search for a perfect format (well as close as we'll ever get anyway) for the competition so keep an eye out for the new thread appearing around the beginning of February, we look forward to seeing you all again for another season!

 

November ended with a total of 21 platinums being earned between 8 players, a great effort by everyone this month as it represents the best result by some margin for both the total number of platinums earned and the number of unique players earning platinums! . It was also impressive that 8/9 scored players improved their completion percentage over the past 3 months, nice.

 

Congratulations to Lightning_0608 for a second consecutive win, this continues her excellent late season form and makes it 4 consecutive podiums. Not to mention her absolutely smashing the previous highest points total for a month, she earned 1177.5 points compared to fang7744's 594 in August! Also a massive congratulations to adam1984123 who completes the season appearing on the podium every month, the streak lives on! A shout-out to olimoo101 for finishing this month in 3rd, knocking fang7744 off the podium and making it the only time in the past 4 months that a new face has appeared in the top 3!

 

A few changes to the leaderboard this month, Lightning_0608 jumps TheWayne-o into 4th sport pushing him down to 5th in his own competiton (what a loser! ). Then there were a number of changes at the bottom of the table: Diagonis83 moves to 7th (from 8th), Z1MZUM jumps off the bottom right at the post into 8th and avoids the wooden spoon, olimoo101 does just enough to retain 9th as mekktor is pushed from 7th into last (it doesn't help when you have several months of not earning trophies).

 

The battle for the Tim Tams is over with feral611 making it look easy in the end and winning by a margin of 62 points (243 vs 181), congratulations mate! I talked a good game but at the end of the day that's all it was with feral611 providing the goods in the actual trophy count. Now the question becomes what flavour of Tim Tams will he choose to consume in the wake of his impressive victory!? It's not over yet though as next season will see TheWayne-o out for revenge to settle the score in another epic battle, we're also going head to head again in The Aussie Summer Challenge! Don't worry about The Ashes, this is the single biggest rivalry on the planet today!
