Popular Post FFHannibal
I'll rewrite my Yakuza 5 review sometime, I promise. The thread stays open for a while anyways and I still need to review Resident Evil. (I'm still pissed about it though ) Started with: 42.45% Now: 40.50 something something % ? Game #9: Transformers: Devastation (PS4) Trophies: 1/31 Playtime: 3 hours 5 minutes Apparently letting a random generator decide the order you're going to play games in is not an awesome idea. I did switch around some similar genres and systems (my two Vita games were #1 and #2 first), but I didn't notice Yakuza and Transformers are essentially very similar fighting games. By that I mean the mechanics and absolutely not the graphics or story. It wasn't that big of a problem, in the end it just meant I was already used to looking for patterns and making combo's. Transformers (no I'm not going to type the entire name every time I mention it) is a game based on the cartoon, which I guess is also named Transformers. I think I once saw the live-action movie too (the one with Shia LeBoeuf), but I don't remember much about it. Essentially you've got beings from another planet (damn, what is it called again?), who now make their home on Earth because their own planet is destroyed. As usual you've got the good guys: Autobots, and the aptly named bad guys: Decepticons. Most of you will be familiar with Optimus Prime and Megatron, the leaders of the Autobots and Decepticons respectively, and probably a few other characters too, so I won't explain who everyone is (it's not really important anyway). Oh yeah, all the robots can turn into well vehicles. Optimus Prime is a huge truck, Bumblebee is a fast car, Megatron is ... well I don't really know, Grimlock is a Robot T-Rex (seriously?). You've got the Insecticons, which, you guessed correctly, are really annoying flying insects. Some other 'things' I encountered were the Constructicons (the mini-bosses Pickle mentioned) and they turn into all kinds of construction vehicles: cement trucks, drill, steam roller, etc. (and then one huge, giant, frickin' robot boss). I probably forgot a few characters but meh. I only played Transformers on Day 1. I did get 3 hours in and I don't really remember why I didn't play Day 2 and 3. I think I didn't feel that great and wanted to play something familiar (which did get me the PvZ: GW2 plat, so I did something productive at least ). I left the difficulty on Normal, like @Pickle2907 (unlike @DamagingRob, psh easy). The game takes a bit of time before actually taking off. I was a bit worried because there didn't seem to be any decent managing screen (aside from the item inventory) and I couldn't find where to change characters. It turns out you just have to play long enough before some kind of base opens up. You can do some fun stuff in there. I was pleasantly surprised by the loot system the game has. You've got Melee and Ranged weapons, ranging from Common to Rare (I haven't gotten anything 'rarer'). You can synthesize weapons, using other ones to enhance or carry over perks, etc. It's also the only trophy I got. You can also change characters there, and because there's a trophy for completing the game with each character I decided to keep it simple and just play as Optimus Prime. He's a bit slow, but all-round still a good character. I'm pretty sure you also keep all you weapons and tech when you start again (it would be pretty stupid if not). So far I've completed two chapters. I got a B rank on both, so there's some room for improvement. I was getting doing great towards the end of the first chapter, but the Insecticons in chapter two destroyed most of my confidence. All in all I did enjoy the game. It seems the game isn't long at all, if I may believe @DamagingRob, so I will at least complete one playthrough. The trophies for this game are ridiculous though. There's one for defeating each boss on at least Commander difficulty without taking damage. No wonder this plat is ultra rare. I'd love to get it, but I'm not sure I'll ever be skilled enough to attempt it. The fact that the game autosaves doesn't really help. Likelihood of me going for the platinum: 50%Likelihood of me getting the platinum: 0.00000001%
Popular Post Hemiak
Game 10, 2 hours played, 0 trophies I played the first of these a year or two ago and thought it was pretty fun. Went so far as to actually earn the platinum, and then picked this up when it went on sale last year. For those that don't know, the Tales series is a group of RPGs that share a name and some basic mechanical similarities, but generally don't run into each other story wise. The obvious exception to this is Xillia 2, which takes place a year after the first game, with a different group of heroes. I'm not going to do a step by step Walkthrough of my time with the game but I'll give a brief overview. The game starts with your character Ludger, getting ready to take a test to join a security force, where your brother is already highly placed. You fail but get wrapped up in some craziness shortly thereafter and your journey commences. Unlike the first game your character is largely a silent protagonist, which is an exponential step backwards imo. Also unlike the first game, occasionally you get two choices of how to respond to questions asked you, which probably affect the way the story plays out. You run around a 3d world and running into enemies begins your fights. This is useful when you just want to reach your destination without a million pointless fights. It's also good if you want to fight a specific enemy type for whatever reason. Fighting rules place in a big circular area, which is cut out or the larger world. You can run freely while holding R2, otherwise you just run in straight lines with whatever enemy you have targeted. Hitting X makes you do regular attacks, the type of which is affected by the direction you hold on the Left stick as you made. Hitting square makes you do artes (abilities), again holding a direction determines which move you execute. These are fully customizable. You are able to choose one of your companions to link with in battle as well. Linking serves several functions and each character gives different benefits. (if the game is like the 1st, dunno yet since I only have one partner so far) You can set your link partner to either 'act freely', ''work together', or 'support me' I think. In battle your partner will come to your aid if an enemy attacks you from behind. And also team up to focus fire enemies down. There is a gage on the left that fills up as you damage enemies. It fills faster when you use your artes. There are 5 segments, and when one fills up you can hit R2 after using an arte to perform a linked arte with your partner. The L.arte you perform is based on the arte you initiate with. Using a link doesn't drop the gauge, instead it unlocks the next section to fill up. When all 5 sections are full you can initiate a linked arte chain. Basically you can keep chaining linked artes one after the other, but you can only use each one once in a given chain. There is a timer and you can keep going until time runs out, so it's easy to put a huge amount of damage on an enemy in a short time if you use it right. So far the game is pretty much exactly what I expected, and I'm having fun.
Popular Post Jaguargenie
Game # 9 Final Review Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Trophies: 4/61 (4%) My completion: 73.20% (-1.93%) So my elation came back down to earth a little bit on this one. But only a little bit. So the more I played, it felt more like Assassin's Creed, prior issues and all. I spent about 3 hours playing SP and another hour trying out the MP. Wolfpack mode isn't too terrible and can even be played by yourself, so there is truly only a little MP needed to get the plat. Pros: It's fun. The switch to a more fun character who isn't wrapped up in the assassin vs. templar feud is a winner in my opinion. I know a lot of my fellow KYCers don't agree but ?. The combat has been improved and feels easier to counter and kill than it has before. I have played for such a short amount of time, I can't wait to get more and better weapons to make the fighting more fun, because right now it lacks a bit of variety. Love the environment and locales. The sea faring and different regions really adds a bit of variety that earlier editions were missing. The voice acting is reasonably good even though the facial animations are awful. Cons: Edward is way too sticky and grabs things I don't want him to, and doesn't grab things I do. But that is par for the course in any AC game up to this point. I hate how powerless I am. I have very few tools at my disposal to cause any havoc with and this is even more annoying since I tend to avoid story missions and go to every little point on the map and collect all the thousands of collectibles. It is inevitable that I get into fights and I don't even have a hidden blade yet... As I mentioned in the impressions, the facial animations are atrocious. Those are the only gripes I have at all. Overall: (DMC rating scale) S Platinum Potential: (DMC scale) B Up next: Headlander
Popular Post DamagingRob
7 hours ago, FFHannibal said: unlike @DamagingRob, psh easy Hey, if @Pickle2907 wouldn't have told us his horror stories, maybe I would have started on Normal. But there's no trophy for it, so meh. May as well make things as quick and easy as possible. I got a SS Rank on Chapter 1 in Commander Mode. Top that. Oh. My. God. This game is fucking awesome! How did I not play it sooner? I went up against a giant fucking robot spider today, and had to blast all of it legs off. Meanwhile, it's firing missiles at me and my teammates, and I'm trying not to die. Eventually, we took it down. Later, there was a flying boss, where I had to shoot out all of its engines. This was a good place to farm trust, so I did. Just hopped on the turret and shot down all the little drones and missiles it fired at me. Earning trust with each kill of the little drones. Shooting the missiles was just so I wouldn't get blown up, and have to get back on the turret. Sometimes, I'd have to climb up the ladder back to where the turret was, if the blast sent me flying down below. :/ Then, we meet the most badass robot that ever lived. Why does he have a French accent, when we're in Japan? Hell if I know! But he's a certified badass! I nearly died, when he chose to save Faye(one of two girls in the group, and the love interest of the guy you play as), and responded to our questioning it with, "Because she's prettier than you." But when all these other robots are trying to kill you, I wasn't expecting to have one join our team. And then came the Gorilla robot... The difficulty is starting to rise, in the second half of the game. First 3 chapters weren't too difficult. But in Chapter 4, I've actually managed to die a few times. The Gorilla robot killed me once. His melee rampages are hard to avoid. Usually, they're just annoying, and you can heal yourself afterwards. But he doubled up on them, during our first encounter, and I didn't even have a chance to do that. But he's a pain, 'cause he is always knocking you down. The Crab robot was really easy, by comparison. Although, after shooting off 3 of his legs, he went nuts and knocked me on my ass. :/ But I was able to heal, and finish him off. Then Cain(French robot of badassitude) hacked a big robot, and you get to control it. Not very mobile, but its missiles blow up other robots real good. Other game play elements include riding on a jetski, and dodging obstacles. You weren't allowed to shoot on them, so there was no shooting involved. By you, at least. Shooting vehicles and flying robots, while riding in a vehicle. Did I mention the crazy Motorcycle robot boss? Had to shoot at its weak points, and try to keep the van you were in from taking too much damage from it. It was nuts. The whole game is nuts. And I love it. So, I may be nuts.. Anywho, this game is great. Hoping to finish the campaign tomorrow. Managed to get through 3 chapters today, and there are only 6, so it should be doable. Time played: Mm.. 8-9 hours? Popular Post Oobedoob S Benubi
Game #10: Õkami HD Final Review Total playtime: about half an hour Trophies: 1/51 for an E rank A wolf with a disc A bug-thing with a paintbrush I should enjoy this Spoiler I got hit with KYC-tiredness, and much harder than ever before. I didn't manage to get through three of my past four games, two of which I want to get back to so I can finish them before I forget how the games work. I'm doing The Witcher III on PS4 and Shovel Knight on the Switch at the same time, and I've decided to grind out the Black Flag multiplayer so I can finally get working on obtaining the platinum in every Assassin's Creed game. I didn't want to start on Õkami because I knew I couldn't finish it in time and I'd get back to my PS4 games before I'd finish a PS3 game. ... Damn, I've really been neglecting my PS3. Booted up Õkami yesterday and I noticed I really haven't played anything on it since the last KYC event. That's bad. My PS4 backlog is much smaller now though so I should be able to start working on PS3 games again. Anyway, I started Õkami anyway late last night after a busy day, and I was annoyed with everything. I was annoyed with the pixellated background while the story was explained. I was annoyed with the bouncing breasts of the female character where a bug jumped out of. I was annoyed by how clearly this was a Zelda rip-off. I was super annoyed by how the introduction just went on and on and on... it was sleep inducing. I'm not kidding, I actually literally fell asleep while going through the endless string of dialogue without gameplay that starts this game, it feels like such a huge step back after Breath Of The Wild finally got rid of the endless tutorial and explanations... After I woke up, I went through the rest of the dialogue and I got to an actual bit of gameplay, but soon after that I decided to stop. If I'm going on today, I will surely hate the game and never get back to it and it deserves more than that. I'm calling this the end of my KYC3 activities, I've gone on to where I unlock the first trophy so it has at least lowered my percentage and it's on my card forever now but I'll only continue on Õkami when I have the time, it deserves more than being rushed for a few hours. I'm going through Witcher III and the Black Flag MP first, I want to get back to Tearaway Unfolded and This War Of Mine, and after that we'll see what I'm going to play next. Õkami HD final score: ? - @blxckenigma, @Kevvik and @voodoo_eyes (will edit when I find out their scores) BillyHorrible: score withheld until I can give it an honest chance Next up: Edited March 30, 2017 by BillyHorrible

Kept being stuck on the same stupid level while trying half a dozen different strategies, but nothing worked. I lost all interest and decided I just didn't want to play any more. It's my first and hopefully only score of the season. #2: Four Sided Fantasy (on PS4). - BillyHorrible (while on the sale price of €3, it's not enough content for €10) Final thoughts on last day. For only €3, Four Sided Fantasy offers a great experience, and a special way of platforming that's used in a lot of fun ways. The game might be short but it's not boring; each new world changes the gameplay and puzzles are rarely if ever repeated. #3: Kitten Squad (on PS4). - BillyHorrible (so bad it's good and it's free anyway) Final thoughts on last day. Free on PSN. At this point it's hard to understate how much I loathe SeaWorld and its practices. Regardless of the message though, the gameplay is enjoyable and it doesn't take that long to get through so it's perfect to play in between longer games or when you just want to play something for a few hours and be done with it. #4: Stories: The Path Of Destinies (on PS4). - Fitzquaid, Pickle2907 - BillyHorrible Jaguargenie used a different rating scale, giving it an A on something called a DMC rating scale (F-S, I'm guessing) Final thoughts on last day. PS+ in December 2016. In short, yeah this game is kinda fun but what it does in combat gameplay, story presentation and graphics, others have done better. The only thing it can bring to the table after that is exploring different possibilities by altering choices, which I just can't imagine that it will stay fun after playing through the game twenty-five times. #5: Kung Fury: Street Rage (on PS4). - BillyHorrible Final thoughts on last day. I think the game's a great throwback to old arcade beat-em-ups, it's a simple game but very addictive. #6: Tearaway Unfolded (on PS4). - BillyHorrible Final thoughts on last day. PS+ in March 2017. I can admit that the controls are a lot of fun and the graphics are pretty cool. It should be a game I could enjoy but somehow I'm just not feeling it. Might be that I'm just not in the mood, or that first playing Witcher and then Zelda both for weeks has my interests on a different level right now. #7: INVI؟IBLE, INC (on PS4). - dizzyshadow, Fitzquaid, Pickle2907 - BillyHorrible Final thoughts on last day. PS+ in December 2016. While it might not be a bad game, there's just too much that goes against how I can enjoy a game and that means I don't like it. At any rate, there's stuff in my backlog which is much more appealing to me so I won't go back to this one soon. I'll probably give it another try when I've gotten through the PS+ games that I like more. #8: Ultratron (on PS4). - BillyHorrible Final thoughts on last day. PS+ in August 2016. I think this is an excellent snack-size game to play on a day when you just don't want to continue on the big game you've been doing. It's short, fun and requires more good reflexes than active thinking. #9: This War Of Mine: The Little Ones (on PS4). - BillyHorrible and Pickle2907 - PerryToxeth and wtru9, but Perry had the excuse of having KYC-fatigue Final thoughts on last day. PS+ in January 2017. It might 'just' be a Sims version during a war but what it does, it does well. The game has set its mood very effectively, it's tough without being unfair and I like that they're not holding your hand but making you find out everything on your own. #10: Õkami HD (on PS3). - voodoo_eyes ? - blxckenigma and Kevvik (will edit when I find out their scores) BillyHorrible: score withheld until I can give it an honest chance Final thoughts on last day. I will surely hate the game and never get back to it and it deserves more than that. I've gone on to where I unlock the first trophy so it has at least lowered my percentage and it's on my card forever now but I'll only continue on Õkami when I have the time, it deserves more than being rushed for a few hours. Final thoughts on the event: What with all my other distractions, most importantly Zelda, this was kind of a weird KYC event for me. Even though I chose many short games and decided to play through some additional short games, I still managed to lower my completion percentage. I guess it's also harder for me to lower my percentage than it is for some of you trophy hunters, for people in 85%-95% a bunch of 60% games would be killing but for me they still raise my overall percentage. I'm loving that I've gotten through most of the games now. After nine months and three KYC events, I've noticed that I tend to not go back to the games I start during these events, I just get distracted too easily with different games. Getting to play through the story in the three days per game is excellent for me, as I'm still trying to get through my backlog and somehow unplayed games always get chosen before the games I've started already (through KYC events or otherwise), regardless of how much I enjoyed them while I played them. Even if I don't have much else to do during a future event, I'll probably still try to make sure that at least half of my list are games of which the story can be completed during the event. I want to say count me in for the next one, but it kind of depends on when @Hemiak wants to do this. As it was before, KYC4 would be in July but Hemiak has stated earlier he was thinking of June. Personally both months are busy for me but I doubt I'd be able to join in July, but since earlier KYC events all had three months in between them I didn't want to say anything.. I have these games on my shortlist: Rebel Galaxy, SR Gat Out Of Hell, Doodle Trilogy, COJ Bound In Blood, Costume Quest 2, FC3 Blood Dragon, Retro/Grade, Lumo, Alien Rage, Anna: Extended, Blazerush, Earth Defence Force 2025, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late. For future reference again, here's my rating scale: Awful piece of shit. Watching paint dry would have been more interesting. Just bad. Not horrible but it leaves a sour taste. And not the good kind of sour like lemons. Mediocre all the way. Too mediocre to even compare it to something, just like... uhm... Fun game, great while it lasts. It can brighten even your bad days. Just like pizza. Reaching unsafe levels of awesome: Hide contents Edited March 31, 2017 by BillyHorrible

Popular Post Pickle_Riiiick_X
Game 10: Just Cause 3 Time Played: Approx 5hrs Trophies Earned: 6/67 From what I can gather, basically you're a freelance sort of agent who specializes in dictator removal and havoc wreaking. You have returned to your childhood home island and are wanting to overthrow the evil maniac who runs the joint. Cue the explosions and crazy stunts. The first mission involves flying in to the island, and rescuing your contact/childhood friend. I miss the L2 aim element present in most action/shooter games. It's a mechanic I keep trying to use and it annoys me I can't aim straight as I hip fire, but that's just my awful playstyle. We then meet up with our contact and start to liberate the island, which is fun. You get an area on the map and within that area are a certain number of objects to destroy. You can shoot them, grenade/RPG them, or what I try to do the most.....tether unusual objects together and try and sling them at each other or generally pull shit over. I quite enjoy tethering enemies to cars or buildings and reeling them in. You also get a parachute and wingsuit allowing relatively quick movement around the map, although I still can't get a grip of the wingsuit. First use I faceplanted the bridge I was supposed to land on and died . To be fair I don't dislike this game but have a feeling of just generally can't be arsed playing it at the moment. ....seen a few people mention KYC syndrome, maybe that's what it is. I'm finding that the load times tend to be too long, maybe because I'm booting off an external, but when I want to retry a challenge I've just done that only took 20 seconds, I don't want to wait almost a minute to retry. I prefer the game over AC: Black Flag at the moment, but would much rather play Shadows of Mordor. I appreciate this game is just downright silliness and destruction and the corny humour reminds me of a B-movie, but I didn't realize that it didn't save checkpoints. I had to turn the game off after I had done 3 objectives, felt like the end of the mission (I didn't know there was a large press x to continue splash screen when you actually finished), and then came back to the game and had to waste half an hour doing it all again and skipping cutscenes. I will give it a gold rating, I feel it will be a good game, just I'm not feeling it at the moment. KYC 3.0 Summary and Final Thoughts Final Completion Percentage: 37.24% (-1.49%) I've really enjoyed this event. It's made me play games I keep avoiding and I love the community feel and reading other people's reviews, especially their thoughts on the same game you're playing. My completion percentage hasn't really taken much of a beating as it was low already, but I think it will take a kicking soon as I plan to try and "bean dive" (to coin a rival site's phrase) as many of my unplayed games as possible just to hit them on my profile and take accountability of them. Then using 2 other challenges on this site I will repair as much as possible, and hopefully improve my ratings ready for other events, lol. Games Played in Order of Preference 1. Shadows Of Mordor (27/75 trophies...33%....C rank) - Love this game, definitely will try to platinum it 2. Deadly Tower of Monsters (24/24 trophies....100%...S rank) - Really enjoyed this game, surprised me, had avoided it for ages 3. Life is Strange (12/61 trophies......18%....E rank) - Loved the story as far as I got, will definitely plat now my 'net is back 4. The Swindle (4/15 trophies....19%....A rank) - Another surprise hit, loved this game, bit difficult for my skill level, but fun and will keep having a crack....probably never 100% it though 5. Stories: Path of Destinies (25/38 trophies.....47%.....C rank) - Love the art style and humour, I enjoy action RPG style games, I like the different paths so far and will hopefully play all 25 6. This War of Mine: Little Ones (11/29 trophies...27%.....B rank) - Little bit depressing, enjoying the challenge and want to see if I can self sustain - doubt I'll plat it though 7. Just Cause 3 (6/67 trophies....5%...E rank) - Need to be in the mood for this, fun so far though, will definitely come back and finish the story at some point 8. Invisible Inc. (3/23 trophies....6%...A rank) - Enjoyable, very strategic and time consuming, will play the odd level when I fancy a brain workout 9. AC: Black Flag (2/61 trophies....2%...E rank) - Need to get a grip with the sea controls to progress, my frustration got the better of me after playing Stories and frustrated me 10. Transformers: Devastation (2/31 trophies...4%...C rank) - After my frustration with Black Flag, and my inability to heal therefore frequent deaths in this (see review), it has left a bitter taste. Will probably return to it at some point, probably on easy and remove my problem Tech to give it another chance, just not in a rush to do so. Only 2 games were above my starting completion percentage (100% & 47%), 1 very close (33%) and 1 close (27%), 4 under 10%....realistically shouldn't be hard to repair. I gained a total of 116 trophies during the event.
Popular Post Myu
Day 30 Final Review : Wonderbook - Book of Spells Trophies : 14/36 (40%) Time played : 3 hours Completion : 84.27% (-4.71% since the beginning of the event) I've been wanting to try a Wonderbook for a long time, especially since there are two of those that are dedicated to the Harry Potter universe. To play this game, you need the Wonderbook, the game, a PS Eye and a PS Move. No need to say that this particular game cost me quite a little fortune, especially when I got a nice bill from the customs. Setting everything up took some time as you have to find the perfect spot for the PS Eye so that the opened book, the PS Move and the player can be seen on the screen. Finding the right distance is not that easy either. The game is divided into Chapters and you can learn up four to five spells in each. You also have to pass a 'test' at the end of each chapter. The game is quite repetitive as you basically do the same steps each time : you learn how to pronounce the spell, the little gesture with the wand and then you can try a few activities to test your spell. And nothing more. Most of my « game time » was spent looking at the screen and watching the story of some spell's origins or simply listening to some explanations. It was kinda strange to see myself in my living-room on screen surrounded by Hogwarts' sceneries. I had a few moments of amazement though, especially when I had to dust leaves from my virtual book or when I had to douse a fire by using a water spell. Overall it's a nice experiment but I'm glad the game isn't long. It's a bit like the Power Glove back then when everyone was amazed by the new technology but it was very clear that its use would become boring or tiring very quickly.

The servers are still up and and you can still find games, however 99% of players online use their created golfer, so people almost certainly won't get the Legendary Matchup trophy without a boosting group. Pin Collector needed a lot of time, but I love the game and played so much that I didn't find it a big problem (but thank goodness there isn't a trophy for getting all the Gold pins on every course! I still play TW14 every day, and even if keep it up, it might take years before I manage to do that). The real headache for me was Last Name Legend - all those challenges that require holes in one or double eagles needed hundreds of attempts each. I think it took me 150 rounds before I unlocked Pin Collector. I was a bit worried about servers shutting down as I missed some online trophies in TW12. But it is a great game. 30+ courses, most of which host a PGA event. Compare that to Rory's game that has under 15 courses. And of course, no Augusta (gasp!). The Nicklaus challenges for Last Name Legend were the roughest. The damn one on Pebble Beach nearly broke me. Sarazan's on Augusta No. 2 was a bugger as well. Rory's not a bad game ( I played it in KYC2) , it's just real stripped down from what you are used to in the TW games. And of course, they fucked with the putting (again!) so there's a learning curve to it. I will be logging in some hours to TW14 next week to gear up for the Masters (which, per an agreement with the wife, is my one designated weekend of the year where I get to be a couch potato ALL weekend). I like to play the course on TW14 a few times before watching the real coverage. It is crazy how accurate the virtual course is. The TV coverage will show some guy preparing to hit and I will instantly know which hole they are on. And I will watch guys hit a drive into a certain spot and think "you're fucked" and sure enough, they are, because I hit in the same spot on TW14. Happy Masters week to you!
xFalionx
Well, some family stuff made me miss a few days, then I spent the last few days struggling to follow all of the threads that I'm part of. Anyways, part of that family stuff was supervising my little brothers on some bounce house festival thing and since I didn't have any Vita games left I ended up starting Lumo instead of Darksiders. Since I'm running out of time here, I'll break the rules yet again and swap those 2 games, dump one and a half more hours into Lumo to make that a 3 hour playtime, and spend the rest of today and the 31st on my 10th game. Sorry Hemiak. The good news is that I managed to finish GT in time for Xenoverse, so I won't be spoiled by the DLC. I've also watched Batman Begins now that I've been introduced to the Batman universe through the first half of Arkham Asylum. Hemiak
Oh FFS, I just typed a huge review and my phone crapped it out. I played basketball last night so I didn't get a ton of gaming. I got about an hour of Xillia 2 in, which I'll roll into my final review tomorrow. I also got an hour in with Babel Rising, and I'll have to repost that review later. PerryToxteth
6 hours ago, Pickle2907 said: Game 10: Just Cause 3 Time Played: Approx 5hrs Trophies Earned: 6/67 From what I can gather, basically you're a freelance sort of agent who specializes in dictator removal and havoc wreaking. I just platinumed JC3 last month, its one hell of a game! Gratuitous destruction at its finest!! Here's a few tips: - It took me a long time to figure out this is a different type of shooter. The game doesn't really want you to sneak around, take cover, line up shots. They want you to raise holy Hell! I found the best way through missions and liberating outposts is to come in hard (grenades, RPGs, choppers, etc.) and keep moving. When it gets too hot in a situation, extricate yourself out with the grapple (or even parachute). If you get pinned down in a gun battle, you're likely done. - The wingsuit has a real learning curve to it. Essentially, the more subtle use of the controller, the better. Once you unlock braking, that will help as well. But the threshold for platinum in this game is the wingsuit challenges. Some are absolute ball busters. I probably put in 10 hours to complete just three of the challenges. - It's not your PS4 that's slow. This game has horrific load times. Its extremly aggravating when you fail a challenege and have to stew in your failure as you wait and wait and wait and wait and wait for the game to reload. - Pick up collectibles as you liberate regions. It'll take forever if you wait until the end and you unlock fast travels by getting all of them. Have fun!

And I shall not dissapoint. Game 9, 1ish hour played, 2 trophies. I think I just saw this game on sale for $.99 a long while ago and picked it up on a whim. It's technically de-listed from the NA store at least since I can't seem to find it. Thankfully I was able to comb through my 600+ purchase history and download it that way. After playing From Dust and occasionally becoming livid at my little villagers and their inability to follow simple directions and stay on the clearly marked paths, I decided what I really needed in my life was to murder a bunch of tiny people. In Babel Rising you play as (a) God whose people have decided to build a tower to heaven, and you're not having any of that blasphemous BS. I started in campaign mode, where there are 15 levels. The levels are broken into three sections with 5 levels a piece. The first section takes place on the great ziggurat. On these levels there is one spiral ramp that climbs the tower, and all the people come from the same basic area until they join the ramp and begin their climb. If they reach the end they dump their load of supplies and dissappear. This either continues the ramp or adds to the tower itself. If enough people get through the tower is complete and it's game over. Thankfully you have a bunch of powers at your disposal to smite these pests. Controls are simple. Right stick rotates around the tower, while the left stick positions your cursor. X and O are the basic attacks of the two elemental powers you bring to each level. Holding triangle or square uses the middle attack for the two sides. As you kill enemies with a certain element, a super gage fills for that specific element. When it is full you hold L1 or R1 to charge it while aiming at the tower, then release and mash the same button to overcharge the ability and cause even more mayhem. I finished the first five levels and unlocked the next section, which takes place at the tower of Babel. This has two spiral ramps instead of just one. The final 5 levels take place in the hanging gardens, and I have no idea what that entails. Each level has an objective that had to be met to pass it. So far they're like this. 1- kill 75 workers 2- survive 20 waves (the waves aren't clearly defined though, but there is a counter in the top) 3- survive 8 minutes 4- kill 40 priests 5- kill 450 workers So far I've only met two enemy types. The basic workers, who enter the ramp from the left or from below, and then march straight to the end unless killed. The other group are the priests. Each priest has an elemental bubble that protects them from one of the two powers you brought. The bubble extends far enough to protect several regular workers as well. The priests will occasionally pause to pray, while the workers keep moving. The object is to nail them with a power from the other element ASAP, as the bubble will dissipate after about 2 seconds. The first power was earth. The basic attack is a falling rock, and when the gauge is full you get three rocks to use in a row. This power fills back up very quickly. The mid level earth power is a line of raised rock that follows your cursor, killing any enemies in its path. The super for earth is a huge Boulder. If you click at the very top of the ramp it will do a little damage to the ramp and then roll to the bottom, smashing any enemy in the way. The 2nd power was fire. The basic attack is a fireball from the sky, which splashes farther depending on your charge level. The middle attack is a line of fire which hangs around for 3 seconds. The super is a rain of fireballs which can damage wooden parts of the structure and kill any enemy unfortunate enough to be hit. It's kind of sporadic and often a few enemies will make it through the rain of fire, making this a little less reliable. However the ability to damage multiple parts of the tower is nice. Water is a bit more of a passive ability. The basic attack is a rain cloud, which lasts longer if fully charged. The rain doesn't damage enemies, but it significantly slows them down. The rain lasts about 60% of the time it takes to refill the charge, so it's pretty easy to use this often. Unfortunately enemies killed with another element while in the rain cloud doesn't actually charge your super. The secondary attack is a breath of ice which follows your cursor. Any enemies you touch are frozen instantly. Frozen enemies actually block the ramp causing enemies to bunch up around them. They also explode when the duration runs out, killing them and any others bunched up around them. The water super is my favorite. You summon a giant tidal wave that insta-kills any enemy it touches. If you fully charge it the wave will reach 2 or even 3 tower levels high, though I've never let it get anywhere near that height yet. It also doesn't actually damage the tower yet. Wind is the final power. The main attack is a bolt of lightning. It forks out and hits enemies in a small perimeter, and lasts about 5 seconds. The higher the charge the longer and wider it hits. The middle attack is a tornado which is pretty fun. It follows your cursor, picking up and flinging any enemy caught in it. I don't actually know what the super is for this yet. All in all this game is pretty fun so far. I was pretty tired last night, which is why I cut it short. All the abilities are useful, and seem different enough to be interesting. The combos are also pretty fun to explore, and I'm looking forward to causing more mass mayhem this evening. Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #10: The Walking Dead Season Two (Day 3) Unlike in my first review I won't retell the story this time. I just say something general about the game. Apparently there are many people who say the second season is way worse than the first one. I'm one of the people who actually thinks they are both level. Clementine may seem weak and not fitting as a main character in such a game but you can see her development during the first season in the second one. She's one tought little girl. It's running better on the PS4 than on the 360 by the way and it probably is the same with the PS3. So if you not have played it yet and are planning to play it, do it on PS4 if possible. On 360 it had some lags after loading the next sceen after the blacksreens. That's gone in this version. I finished episode three by now and it's getting moredangerous. One of the reaons I wanted to play this game is to have a save for season three, which, as far as I know, allows you to import a save from the previous game like season two did with a save of season one. I have no clue what else to write so I finish this with my conclusion of the game. I like the Walking Dead games from Telltale. In fact I like every Telltale game. The only one I haven't played yet is Game of Thrones because I'm not into the series (Don't hit me ) But the game is on my hard drive. This game deserves a rating and I will finish this on saturday with one episode per day. Trophies: 24/40 Completion: 65% Time played: About 4h 30min (1h 30min per episode approximately)
Popular Post DamagingRob
Day 3 So, I don't think I can add much to what I've already said. But this is likely my favorite game in this event. I love 3rd person shooters, and this one did not disappoint. The story was fantastic. Futuristic setting, and you and your team are tasked with finding out who broke the law of robotics, and made robots that look like humans. Many twists in the story, and great characters/performances made the cutscenes a joy to watch. Some other gameplay elements I think I forgot to mention. Your gun can do a shock burst, which will stun or kill enemies. You can buy other guns from the various shops, pick them up in combat from defeated enemies, and sometimes they're just lying around to pick up. But the assault rifle was mainly what I used, as it's the only gun you can upgrade damage and whatnot. You also have a pistol with unlimited ammo and grenades. And you can buy nanomachines, which you equip for various bonuses(Health +10%, Defense +10%, faster reload speed, extra medkits/grenades, etc.) Between the almost nonstop action fest, there are a few areas in the game, where you can just walk around talking to people and members of your team. Sadly, I couldn't try the multiplayer, as it is completely dead. :/ But yeah, just a truly underrated game. If you got it through Plus, I highly recommend trying it out. Definitely gets a from me. Missing 3 single player trophies, but I don't feel like going through the game again right now. Besides the fact the last difficulty unlocks after beating the game on Survivor(Hard), I also didn't quite max out Charlie's trust. Dick. But I got mostly everything else out of the way. Had to use chapter select to grab a collectible I missed, but that was about it. Time played: 13-14 hours? Trophy progress: 40/50 for 70% Did it lower my completion? Only slightly(feels like I've said that a lot this time). .05%. Final Thoughts Final Completion Percentage: 86.95%(-0.96%) So, less than a whole percent my completion dropped this time.. Guess I need to try harder next time. Lol. Or not try as hard? Anywho, this was a lot of fun. Got me to play some games I've been putting off for a long time(Binary Domain was purchased in 2014, y'all!), and I enjoyed reading others' reviews and writing my own. I'd like to thank @Hemiak for putting this all together. And all those that were a part of this thing. Games Played in Order of Preference 1. Binary Domain- Fun as hell 3rd person shooter, with a great story. Those multiplayer trophies sound insane, or I'd probably try to Platinum it. But I may try to do so, if I can get a group together. 2. Transformers: Devastation- I'm not a huge fan of Transformers, but I found this game to be a blast. This will likely be the first game I go back to, as I don't want the rust to set in, and not be able to get those SS ranks on chapters 2-7. 3. Okage: Shadow King- Short, goofy JRPG, that seems to have been influenced by The Nightmare Before Christmas. But still so, so good. My final save was a little over 21 hours, for those wondering about length. 4. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor- I'll keep this as a gold for now, but the DLC could change my mind. The ending "fight" was just so disappointing.. But fun Assassin's Creed clone. Or Arkham clone. Or whatever. Best Lord of the Rings game, that's for sure. 5. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND- Another game that was in my backlog for a long ass time.. I really enjoyed what I played of this one, but I don't know if I have the skills for the Plat. Fun fighter. 6. Psychonauts- Double Fine decided to make a platformer, instead of an adventure game. Worked out pretty well, I'd say. But there were some moments of frustration, that brought the experience down a little. 7. Digimon World: Cyber Sleuth- Fun turn-based battle system, with an interesting story. What more can you ask for in a JRPG? Will probably get back to it, eventually. Hopefully, it won't become another Rune Factory. :/ (Played and enjoyed that in the previous event, and still haven't returned to it..) 8. Shantae: Risky's Revenge- Fun, retro platformer. Looking forward to playing the other games in the series, at some point. 9. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter- Still not sure if it's a silver or gold, but it seemed like a decent action game. Will try to at least beat it, but may not 100% it. 10. Manhunt- Going to take the most effort to push myself through this one.. But I'm a lot farther into it than Munch's Oddysee, so I'll likely see it through. Hoping the cheats you can unlock, will make cleaning up the rest of the trophies far less annoying. Or I might not complete it.. Besides those 10, I only played 2 games on the side: Disc Jam and Under Night. The first was pretty fun, but got tiring when going for the 50 wins. The second was just an okay fighter, in my opinion. Both would probably get ranks from me. And I guess that's that. Popular Post Jaguargenie
Part of me is sad to be writing my final 'first impressions' since this event was a lot of fun. Forced me to add 10 games to my active list and get down to it, rather than slow rolling. The other part of me is happy since I won't have an evil overlord great moderator watching over my gaming. I'll get enough time in game 10 tomorrow night so I can do my final review and final thoughts on the event. Game #10 Initial Impressions Headlander Trophies: 7/31 (21%) Completion: 72.92% (-2.21%) This is a metroidvania published by adult swim games. The same adult swim that puts out the ridiculous late night cartoons. You play as a disembodied head that flies around in a rocket propelled helmet. If you latch on to a robot with no head, you take over. You are trying to infiltrate the center of a hedonistic paradise for robots to stop an evil AI that wants to kill you. Yup. What were they smoking when they wrote that??? So it's pretty awesome. Developed by double fine, it has the typical sense of humor you would expect from them. Snarky and a bit raunchy and very self aware. The metroidvania comes from some lite backtracking to get upgrades along with picking up different colored robot bodies to open different colored doors. This part has good and bad points. Sometimes it involves a clever puzzle to open a colored door with a particular robot. Other times however, you have to travel several rooms away, grab the robot, get back to the door, only to have your new body killed. Repeat. A bit annoying. The motif and setting is incredibly weird. I love it. All the robots talk like stoned hippies. Everything is 'far out' and there are nods to 70s paraphernalia all over. Thick shag carpet covers most of the tooms, giant lava lamps are all over and blacklights. So many blacklights. It's hilarious. My biggest complaint thus far is the laser combat. Your robot bodies don't last very long in a fire fight and you can't move and fire or jump (at all) so while you return fire you are taking it too. Adding the ability to move and fire might have broken the game and made it too easy, but it's a bit frustrating. So far, I'm really liking it. Might be my first Plat right after the event.
Popular Post dmland12
Game #10: Tropico 5 Progress: 21/71 Trophies (26%) Completion: 85.65% (-1.30%, -10.02% from start) So with this, the event draws to a close for me. Thanks to @Hemiak for organizing this and thanks to everyone for participating. I enjoyed seeing what everyone else was playing! I enjoyed this event a great deal and will be looking forward to round 4 in a few months, if I can tidy up my list enough by then. So what's Tropico 5? It's basically a city-building sim / sandbox, but instead of being some benevolent mayor you're a dictator. You could be a brutal or a nice dictator, but make no mistake you're still in it to stay in power no matter what. In my main sandbox game, I'd like to think I was a nice dictator. After all, I tried my best to keep people working and happy! And I even had fair* elections! Well, not really, since I ran a police state where some people's votes were coerced, the media was state controlled, and I only let the wealthy vote (and took better care of them)... but, I'm sure everyone would have voted for me anyway if they had the chance. Who wouldn't have? Well, maybe some of the rebels I had murdered wouldn't have... but really, there's just no pleasing everyone! I think that's one of the more interesting aspects of the game... you can try to run things a number of different ways. You can try to be completely fair and democratic, or you can go completely totalitarian... but you'll probably end up somewhere in between. There's an election coming up and it's close. Should you cheat at it? Bribe some people into voting for you? Enact an ordinance that will be popular? Have some people that are causing trouble banished? Amend the constitution so that only certain people can vote? There's plenty of ways to slide from fair and democratic even if you try to start out that way. The same goes for your economy and foreign relations. As it's a city builder, the main part of the game will have you placing different buildings where you think they'll do best. There's plenty to consider here. Each person has their own individual stats and opinions. You'll want to make sure they have a decent place to live and work. Oh, they also want entertainment and healthcare, and personal liberty... Jeez, so demanding. There's also different factions people can belong to, which will affect how they feel about your regime. All in all, I really enjoyed this one. There's an impressive amount of depth here and I just tried to give some general idea what the game's about.

Stellar Joker performance by Heath Ledger, by the way. Now that you've been introduced to the Batman universe, it would be a shame if nobody would point you to the two Tim Burton movies: Batman (1989) and Batman Returns. Both are a bit more cheesy than the Christopher Nolan movies but they're pretty awesome. The LEGO Batman Movie that came out recently is actually super cool as well, but I advise you to wait with watching it until you've seen a bit more of Batman. At least watch the 1989 Batman and The Dark Knight - thanks to those two films and the Arkham series, you'll have a pretty good feel about the Batman-Joker dynamic which is an important one for the LEGO movie. Also, if you're not done with Batman after all that and you really want to get funky... Popular Post Mendant909
Game #10 Days #1-3 It's the end of the road so I'll try to keep it short. NieR initially starts a couple of decades in the future, with Al Gore being wrong about global warming and freaking Roland Emmerich's global cooling being how the world ended. A father did his best to protect his daughter, even going as far as to make a Faustian deal with a mysterious book. Unfortunately the dad fails to protect her and a millennia later the father and daughter are reincarnated(?) into a medieval world. The new human population is still small but even then a new pandemic is occurring where your daughter is afflicted with the curse. Your hero, who I named Krisp K., goes through a journey in search of a cure. In the meantime Krisp does sidequests from lazy villagers, with a bit of planting and fishing here and there. There's still the mystery of what exactly happened in the millennia, the origin of the pandemic, and why the enemies that are visually similar to those from El Shaddai still exist after that time skip. Gameplay wise the game is similar to the Zelda series, with the second boss even looking like Wind Waker's boss form the Tower of the Gods, Gohdan. There are dungeons to explore with maps and keys thrown about, but of course there are a few twists. Regular enemies can use magic that makes the combat into a bullet hell scenario. Certain words can give bonuses to your weapons and magic. Fishing is given a horribly explained tutorial but luckily GameFAQs does a good job explaining that mechanic. I have high hopes that NieR will actually provide some answers to its mysteries or at least add a few more twists before it's all over. Tomorrow I'll give my ranking for the games I played over the month but for now I'll take a few hours to think over the middling ones.
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #10 Day #2-3 Total Time Played: about 3h Trophies earned: 9/51 Didn't play much of it on Thursday, but picked it up yesterday to get to the 3h mark. During that time I cleared another area of "evil" and learned 2 new brush techniques. New enemies were introduced and it seems that monsters slowly respawn. I haven't been paying too much attention to the collectibles, as there seem to be quite a few, so I imagine there's going to be a lot of backtracking once I get back to it. The Good: the art style is original and looks good while playing the game the brush gimmick works pretty well it#s a lot of fun so far the combat and sidequests seem fine so far you can skip most of the dialogues, once you get past the intro The Bad: I really dislike the mumbling sounds that replace the dialogues art style doesn't look that good anymore in the cinematics the camera has it's problems. All in all a . One of the best games I payed during KYC. PS: I was wondering why emoticon tab takes so long to open up... until I realised a shitload of new ones were added, most of them garbage. Fantastic...more shit that fucks with the sites' performance. Also, I'll give my overview tomorrow, once I'm back from my business trip.

This post gave me the opportunity to finally try out the custom filters in my adblocker. Spoiler Good thing is I don't have to feel ashamed of mentioning this as I'm premium EDIT: WTF? When I open the editor it says it blocks more than 1,250 images? Srsly? Whoi needs that many emoji-images? Popular Post Myu
Final Completion Percentage: 84.27% (- 4,71% since the beginning of the event)Trophies won: 3,353 (+134)Unearned trophies: 510 (+177)Games played: 116 (+10)Completed games : 80 (+1) Participating in this KYC was a weird journey. It helped me start games I had left on my shelves for quite a long time and to finally make it mandatory to plat them in order to move on. Without the KYC, I would probably have started new releases or more appealing games. I'm glad it was not the case. Some games turned out to be pretty good, others not that much but all in all I was able to clear my PS3 to-do list. I don't know if I will participate in the next KYC as I like to play a game from start to finish without another one interfering. Starting a new game every 3 days was not easy either and after the 5th one, I felt my motivation declining progressively. Maybe 10 games in a month is too difficult for me. Here is my final ranking. I'll keep playing every one of those games until their plat is mine. I'll keep you updated in this thread if it remains open until the next KYC. (also known as « that one game that joins the rank of your absolute favourites, happens once in a blue moon » (last one was DanganRonpa btw) None (also known as « I still want to play the game even though I've just put it down to take a break) Fairy Fencer F When it was time to switch to the next game, I realized I actually wanted to keep playing this one instead. The story finally becomes interesting after about ten hours and the dialogues and the cutscenes are very funny. The game is fast-paced and entertaining. It's remains quite repetitive though (and some of the trophies look griiiiindy!) Ar Nosurge : Ode to an Unborn Star After a bad experience with Ar Tonelico Qoga, I was afraid to start this one and witness another failure. Ar Nosurge is not my favourite game of the series but it's still a good game with a nice story and I want to know how it ends. Operation Abyss : New Tokyo Legacy Operation Abyss is a good representative of its genre. For once, there is a story and it's a good story (unlike in Demon Gaze which is mostly about sniffing panties, walking around naked and sexual innuendoes everywhere). The only thing I'm not happy about is the level cap. Contrast A good game that the developpers probably didn't have time to finish properly. Playing with light and shadows was entertaining and the puzzles were not too difficult if you took a good look at your surroundings. The story feels a bit rushed towards the end. (also known as « I don't mind spending 50 hours to get that Plat but I already know I'll get bored while doing it) Brothers : A Tale of Two Sons I didn't put a lot of time in this game but the few hours I played where not up to my expectations. The game was not as entertaining as I had hoped it would be. I have so much trouble controlling the little boat. It's still a nice game though. Book of Spells Using the PS move was a nice change of pace. I was amazed by small things (dusting the book's cover, manipulating water with the wand) but after completing the first chapter, you soon realize that the 4 others are basically the same thing over and over again. The Awakened Fate Ultimatum The gameplay is good, the story not so much. I've already finished the first playthrough, I'm currently in the grinding phase of the game. May the RNG Gods be with me ! (also known as "if I wasn't such a completionist, I would leave them to finish their lives peacefully in my backlog") Dokuro I'm not good at platform games and even if the art style reminds me of a Tim Burton movie, I still can bring myself to like Dokuro. I'm not looking forward to finishing that game. The Guided Fate Paradox Just like the Awakened Fate Ultimatum, but way more complicated. The story started okay but lost its potential along the way. There are traps everywhere on each floor, it's very easy to die right before reaching the last floor. And I still don't know how the weapon/equipment enhancing system works. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 2 I still don't understand how this game can be so popular. Fairy Fencer F shares many similitudes but is better in every way (maybe because there are some good-looking guys in it ?). I don't look forward to the Lily grind or to having to collect shares again and again for each ending.
