Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Alright, so I decided to make updates on the 1st and 3rd day. With that out of the way, here's the first one. Game #1 - Initial impressions So after about an hour of gameplay (59 min according to in-game time), I can say that it's already better than Rainbow Moon. In that game I absolutely despised the combat, while it seems to be more solid in Goddess Black Heart. However that being said, I'm not sure how I feel about the "attacks from side and back do more damage" philosophy. In a grid-based game with turn-based combat that doesn't seem like a good idea. There have only been a couple of battles so far, which doesn't really give me much more to say about that aspect for now. Other than that there's a lot of dialogue, as was to be expected. There's also a minimalist sims aspect to the game, as in being able to buy furniture for your room in the hub area. I'm not sure about the practical use of that though. Then there's also a shop to buy items and a research center to develop new items.
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Sorry, i'm a bit late with my list, but hopefully still ok to join. I'm going to bend the rules a bit as well hopefully that is ok. The plan is 5 vita games spread across the month ie 6 days each and 5 PS4 games in the second half of the month ie 3 days each. this should still tie in with everyone else so hopefully should be ok. This gives me time to finish shadow of war on the PS4 before diving in to some new games. If i do finish it before the 16th i'll add some extra PS4 games to the start of my list. Vita games list: Lego force Awakens (1st -6th) - as a newer lego game, i'm interested to see if they have added any new ideas or if they are just churning out more of the same. Aegis of Earth (7th-12th) - i picked it up cheap in sale, don't know much about it but i'm expecting something akin to a tower defense game. World of Final Fantasy (13-18th) - i've heard it like pokemon, i guess probably more realistically a cross between pokemon and FF Grand Kingdom (19th -24th) - i'm a huge fan of the fire emblem series on nintendo consoles, so i'm always looking for anything remotely similar, i know its an SRPG, so i'll see how similar it is to FE Zero Time Dilemma (25th -30th) - played virtue's last reward after the last event and really enjoyed the story, hoping for more of the same. PS4 games list: Unbox: Newbies Adventure (16th-18th) - looks like a fun little platformer. Sexy Brutale (19th-21st) - it's groundhog day without Bill Murray and it's brilliant. Right? World to the West (22nd-24th) - enjoyed teslagrad, interested to see where they have gone next with the world. I hear its a totally different kind of game. The Crew (25th-27th) - haven't played a good open world racer in years, given the amount of love this gets on here i'm hoping this might be it. Far Cry 4 (28th-30th) - i never really gotten on with first person games, but really feel i should give this a series a try Possible extra PS4 games (if shadow of war allows) Shadow Tactics Witch & the Hundred Knight Life is Strange Starting Stats: Completion Rate: 51.84% Edited November 1, 2017 by dizzyshadow to add my expectations for each game
Popular Post Oobedoob S Benubi
Game #1: Xeodrifter Final Review Total playtime: about two and a half hours Trophies: 8/16 for an A rank 8-bit seems lazy it hurts my eyes and my ears also, so boring Spoiler "HEMIAK! BILLY'S DOING STUPID HAIKUS AGAIN, AND HIDING HIS ACTUAL REVIEW IN A SPOILER!" Yes, I am. Deal with it. Okay, so Xeodrifter... When this was on for PS+, I initially ignored it. I don't like fake retro 8-bit games. I didn't even like 8-bit back when it wasn't retro; I didn't get interested in games until the 16-bit era. However, Shovel Knight showed me earlier this year that I could tolerate and even enjoy at least a very well made 8-bit game, so last month I decided to get the 8-bit(ish) MetroidVania game Axiom Verge as well and, while not as stellar as Shovel Knight (in my opinion), I wasn't disappointed. So, when I was picking games for my KYC5 list, I noticed this little 8-bit MetroidVania game, and decided to give it a chance after all. The most common criticism of the game that I found was that it was too short and the enemies weren't that varied, so I decided 'what the hell' as I had already gotten it on PS+ anyway. ... Good lord, is this game boring. The gameplay starts out decent enough but the ugly and way too big 8-bit graphics immediately made my eyes bleed (figurative, not literally, luckily), and the 8-bit sounds were even worse. Shovel Knight showed that 8-bit sounds could be beautiful, how come other devs with hard-ons for 8-bit can't follow that direction? ... Oh, don't believe me when I say games with cheap retro graphics can have beautiful music at the same time? Spoiler So, next to the ugly graphics and sounds that Xeodrifter is focused on having, the game was boring as well. And the graphics are really, honestly, very ugly and way too big - part of the gameplay is that you can phase to the background - back there in the background, the sprites actually look like they have the right size, and they've been tripled in size for the foreground. And the game really is boring and repetitive. Seems impossible with how short the game is, but even though after 2.5 hours I'm probably only 0.5-1 hour away from the end, I really, really can't bring myself to playing this game any more. To add insult to injury, after the bad graphics, sounds and repetitive "we want to be a Metroid game but don't really know how that works except for walking around collecting upgrades" gameplay, the devs decided that after only having enemies with set paths, on the way to the pre-final boss you should have a long gauntlet of corridors and enemies, with a new enemy that is huge, hard to kill and actually homes in on your position, often waiting outside of the corridor to strike so you can't even shoot back. And they KNEW they were being assholes for putting this enemy in the game, because you get a trophy called "we're sorry!" for defeating one - while the road to the pre-final boss has at least three of these assholes, combined with other enemies and hazards. And no checkpoints whatsoever. Honestly, after my umptieth different tactic failed, I decided that the game was trying to tell me that I had missed too much gun and health upgrades and should go back for a bit before continuing. Fuck you, game. You may or may not have noticed that I'm doing a final review on the first day, while I have fifteen games on my list and therefor should play Xeodrifter tomorrow as well. Yeah, not going to happen. I'm close enough to the three hour floor in my opinion, and I'd rather play some Assassin's Creed Origins or Stardew Valley tomorrow. Or perhaps I'll sneakily start Darksiders so I can play that one for three days instead of two days - I figured for Darksiders, which I had tried starting a few times already, I should try to get at least ten hours into the game during this event. So Xeodrifter can suck it, I might go back to the game if my backlog is a lot smaller than it is now, but for now I'm throwing it out. Xeodrifter final score: * Next up: don't know yet, but likely Darksiders *to those who don't know how I score: Spoiler I started on the following rating scale: Awful piece of shit. Watching paint dry would have been more interesting. Just bad. Not horrible but it leaves a sour taste. And not the good kind of sour like lemons. Mediocre all the way. Too mediocre to even compare it to something, just like... uhm... Fun game, great while it lasts. It can brighten even your bad days. Just like pizza. Reaching unsafe levels of awesome: Spoiler It has been suggested however, once other people tried using it, that a five point rating scale is not enough for many to judge different games on. Double icons were tried for a while (so in between platinum and gold score would be " / "), making it a nine point scale, but in the end I decided that a thirteen point scale would be the handiest to use. Like so, from best to worst: ... and so on and so forth, until reaching the lowest score, . Edited November 1, 2017 by Cubone
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #1: Quest of Dungeons Initial Impressions Time played: 4.5 hrs Quest of Dungeons is a 2D dungeon exploration game. An evil lord has stolen a magic lantern, plunging the world into darkness and chaos. Four heroes have joined forces to stop him but they send one (you) of their group off by themselves into the dungeon. You choose from a warrior, an assassin, a wizard and a shaman (and a necrodancer is available later). You run around the dungeon a la 2D Zelda games (sans tools) killing monsters, avoiding obvious traps and smashing everything in sight looking for loot. You equip found armor and weapons to strengthen yourself along with leveling up as you gain experience, though there is no stat management, you just get tougher. You can heal either very slowly by running around the room or quickly using found/bought items to heal. You attack foes by essential running into them when positioned next to them on the grid of the map. You also have a minimap up in the corner to help guide you and which contains reminders for you (where staircases are, what keys you need to open doors that you couldn't). Each floor has a merchant who buys your stuff and sells you other stuff. You continue fighting until you beat the final boss or die (then its game over, permadeath style). You can save and exit so you don't have to finish it in one sitting but if you die, no continues for you. This can be avoided by uploading your save to the cloud and downloading it back to the system if you die, though you still lose any unsaved progress. Graphically this is 16 bit territory but I didn't find it off-putting at all. I liked the simplicity because at its core, its a reasonable simple game. I did a playthrough on Normal difficulty with the warrior. I died a few times, mainly when either not paying attention to my health or attacking a boss with poor gear. Each dungeon is randomly generated so the game doesn't map out the same twice. There may be no bosses on a floor or there may be multiple. Quests are either kill or collect and earn you extra gold and XP. You can also learn new skills from manuals that you find as loot. This can make things play out and I played around with different skills which gave different advantages against opponents. Not sure which character I'll try next but I still have hard and hell playthroughs plus trophies for completing the game with each class. It does have a good, if infrequent , sense of humor to it as well. When you watch through the initial conversation between the heroes around the fire, I definitely snickered a few times and smiled during the main game (finding a tome I had already used for learning a skill, on examination it informed me there was nothing in this book I could learn any more about which got a good laugh). So far, the game isn't anything stellar but it has solid gameplay which hasn't got old yet with permadeath keeping me cautious as I progress. We'll see how the other classes play out. Trophies earned so far: 10/26 for 19%, D rank Rating so far: 7.5/10 Edited November 1, 2017 by Kevvik
Popular Post Myu
Day 1 - Game 1 Ys : Memories of Celceta Time played : 5 hours Ys : Memories of Celceta is an action RPG released in 2012 in Japan. The game does indeed feel a little old-school but I really don't mind. The story begins with Adol Christin, an 18 year old red-haired boy walking alone in a city of miners, exhausted. He bumps into someone, falls on the ground and decides to stay there as he doesn't have the energy to get back up. And of course, it starts raining and Adol asks himself that question that has started so many different plots in so many different games / anime / manga : Who I am ? As you can see, our hero is suffering from memory loss. And apparently, someone decided to pick him up because the next scene takes place in the local tavern. Adol is sitting quietly at one of the tables when Duren (the silver-haired guy) comes to talk to him. Duren is an information dealer and he wants to know how Adol managed to come back from the forest of Celceta, a place well known for its ways of never letting you find your way home. Since Aldo doesn't remember anything and no info means no friend of mine to Duren, the guy decides to leave the tavern. And here comes a miner shouting about monsters appearing in the mine. The Romun army commanded by General Leo is not in town of course but Governor General Griselda is here to save the day, if only the soldiers listened to her... While everyone is standing at the entrance of the mine debating about what to do, an orb of light appears out of nowhere and of course, Aldo touches it. This is in fact one of his memories. For an unknown reason, his memories are scattered all over the place and one of your objectives is to collect them all. Then Aldo decides to go into the mine all alone and with barely any equipment to help those poor miners. Duren comes running after him to give him a sword. Seeing Aldo's inability to even remember how to fight, Duren decides to accompagny him. You progress further and further and learn how to fight, how to use skills and extra attacks, how to use monoliths as checkpoints, etc, until its high time for a first boss encounter to test everything out. A few seconds later, the boss is defeated, the three remaining miners are saved, you get an item that allows you to warp back and forth between monoliths and everyone is waiting for Aldo at the entrance to congratulate him. Governor General Griselda has a new request for you : go explore and map the great forest of Celceta. Aldo has no idea who he is or what he is doing in this town but he accepts. And since there's a nice reward, Duren is going to accompagny him. I spent the next hours exploring the forest. The map unfolds as you progress and you get a reward every 10% cleared. It gets confusing sometimes, I had to go back on several occasions to try to find a way to reach the right place but it's very addictive. Fighting the monsters is quick and dynamic. There's also a quest system but in five hours of gametime, I have not seen new quests since the 4 initially available at the beginning of the game. You can collect a lot of items by beating the crap out of flowers, rocks and tree trunks and exchange them for a better version and upgrade your weapons and equipment. I haven't tried this yet though.

I can't go back farther than that because my college room mate was a huge Giants fan and his dad had season tickets, so we would hit like 10-15 games a year, with his dad putting us up in a hotel for the weekends. We're definitely an American football family here. OK, the main post should be fully updated. Let me know if something doesn't look right or I messed up a link or something. Popular Post Metal Slime King
@Cubone I've never played Xeodrifter but going off of your review I think you are going to absolutely hate Downwell. Well at least it was free. Final Fantasy XIV I put a good number of hours in for the first day, long enough to get to the first real boss encounter anyways. A clay golem brought to life with dark magic (I don't think this would be the same first boss for everybody, the start of the story seems dependant on the class you pick and I chose Conjurer which goes into White Mage). Then I got disconnected for the second time and stopped playing for the night. I'm a little apprehensive where it's going to load me back into the game and in what state. I don't exactly have awesome internet so I can't flat out blame the game but I did login to Neverwinter right afterwards for an hour or so without any issues. Anyways, about the game itself, it sure is a Final Fantasy game but now in an MMO. It's got the impressive FF graphics and cinematics that Square have been pushing since around FFX and the signature music. Moogles look sort of grotesque this time around. The UI is definitely more complicated than any other FF I've played, there was an option for Mouse/Keyboard but I'm playing on the gamepad. I was having a hard time navigating around the menus and particularly targeting specific enemies. Fortunately all enemies in the first few areas are non-hostile until attacked because there's a lot of them and they respawn quickly. The only other MMO I've played for comparison is Neverwinter which I only started just before the last KYC event but I can see the same patterns. Story is driven by quests to meet different NPC's stationed in different areas and everybody wants you to kill a certain amount of the different enemy types along the way. It seems like a game for the developers, how many ways can they have NPC's ask you to kill X random mobs without coming off like lazy jerks. This guys wants you to get training, another guy wants you to show the recruits how it's done, that guy just wants to make a snazzy jacket out of 10 pelts and some other guy is worried that rabid squirrels are going to gnaw away the support beams of the training centre and nobody can leave their posts, ever. I'm curious how Square's going to tell their story in a world that has to remain static for all the other players. One nice thing FFXIV has over Neverwinter is that your character has the ability to change class and even pull abilities from one class into another. For example, you're not a good healer unless you also get far enough in black mage to pull over his quick cast ability so you can cast raise quickly while still throwing cures around. I haven't got far enough to play around with that though. So far, day 1, I'm having fun with it.

And hey, if I don't like it, at least you'll be able to read another angry review A point which I forgot in my review is playing on the big screen. With Shovel Knight, I started out playing in handheld mode on the Switch. Eventually the graphics were fine in docked mode, and I played Axiom Verge completely in docked mode, but Stardew Valley I refuse to play docked. It helps with the Switch that I can choose to use a small screen if the graphics don't appeal to me on the big television screen.
Popular Post PerryToxteth
Game No. 1 Grand Ages Medieval First Thoughts: Who picked my gaming order???? Oh yeah, me. After putting dozens of hours into Tropico 5 last month to get the platinum (which is a great game BTW), why on earth would I start KYC V with another Civ-like strategy game??? A nice shoot-em-up would have been more fun in this slot but I digress... Grand Ages Medieval is a Real Time Simulator/ Strategy game. I first got hooked on games like this back in college with Sid Meier's Civilization games. I guarantee I would have been Magna Cum Laude if it wasn't for fuckin' Sid Meier. He is responsible for my first gaming experience where you look up and say "Holy Shit, I've been here for nine straight hours. I forgot to eat, I forgot to shit, I forgot to let the dog back in." That will not happen with this game. I put in a total of three hours at various times yesterday and the frustration/ disappointment has started to set in. Given its grand scale of managing towns, armies, industries, diplomatic relations, exploration, etc., the game thankfully walks you through a tutorial in the Campaign mode. The problem is that its tasks are at times dubious, and I have spent idle minutes paging through menus trying to find the correct tab for what the game is asking for. Tick, tick, tick and I am still staring at the screen trying to figure out how to trade this item to that town. My biggest gripe so far is the laziness in the historical research for the game. The game starts in 1050 AD and you start just outside the Byzantine Empire in Sofia. Although this game encompasses all of Europe, as well as North Africa, and stretches out to the Urals, you have no choice in Campaign Mode. You are Bulgarian and that is that. Diplomatically, you get to deal with Byzantine leaders like Constantine V and Eudokia. Other regions include prominent historical figures like Erik the Red in Scandinavia and Alexander Nevsky in Russia. It's a bit of a stretch as they're a few centuries early but I can accept that. What I can't accept is that the leader of Britain is Robin Hood! F'ing Robin - Errol Flynn/ Kevin Costner/ Russell Crowe - Hood?!?!?!?!?!?!? And you call yourself a historical game????? As politely as possible, go fuck yourself. As developers, you could have easily jumped forward 16 years to 1066, a date ingrained into every Western Civ student, and used William the Conqueror. But to use a fucking myth is reprehensible. I will continue to plug away at this game over the next two days but if I venture to Arabia and Ali Baba is it's leader, I'm done.

Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #1: Lili: Child of Geos (Day 1 + 2) This game is boring. This game is an adventure without combat. You play as Lili, a girl who wants to make her graduation. For that she goes to the island Geos to collect flowers for her teacher. That's pretty much all you do. It very repetetive and has many flaws in general. To get flowers you have to run around the map and pick them up. These flowers are used for trading to get keys or play a minigame. You can also trade them for some money, which you need to buy upgrades or usable items. The main flowers you need to get are rare ones growing on the back of spirits. These flowers are red compared to the white ones scattered around the world. To get these red flowers you have to sneak up to a spirit and jump on his back. There you have to press or to pick the good white flowers but have to avoid the dangerous red ones. After picking enought white flowers you can pick the rare red one to defeat the spirit. Some spirits summon bombs on there back to throw you off. You either can press the buttons to throw the bombs away or use one of your boms to get rid of them all. You can only hang on a spirit's back for a certain time before your grip is all used up and you fall off. After getting the rare flower you get a score and one to three stars, depending on your performence. At first I didn't notice there were dangerous flowers and I just pressed everything that showed up. After you know what to do it's super easy to get three stars. Beneath the bombs you have two other usable items. First a sandwich to run faster for a few seconds so you can get to the spirits and a potion that makes you invisible, which also helps to catch the spirits. With your money you can buy these items and upgrades for grip, movement speed and stealth. The story seems to be that the spirits are evil and another kind of beings called Constructs are opressed by them. You have to defeat them while you collect your flowers. Now to the flaws. The controlles feel kind of weird. Sometimes you walk in the opposite direction when hitting a wall instead of just stopping. The second thing is the text. I encountered numerous mistakes in the dialogue be it grammar or speling. To only somewhat good things are the item describtions. In each chest you find an item with mostly no use. Some are used for side quests but most are only to collect. Some of the descriptions are funny though. Time played: About 2 hours Trophies: 7/23

Beyondthegrave07
I want to participate in one of these some day. I'm trying to clear the backlog a bit and platinum as many easy games as possible, and starting next year, I am going to do what I did prior to this year which was platinum games that are either A.) Super easy B.) Out of boredom C.) I REALLY like the game. Hopefully, I'm able to catch the next one, but this is some great stuff and an interesting read to see people's first impressions of games.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Day 1- Zone of the Enders I know, kinda late for a Day 1 review. But boosting Far Cry 2 and my parents needing my help last night have kept me busy. I might just skip Day 2 reviews, like Voodoo, unless I have something I really want to say. A young boy named Leo finds and is able to operate an Orbital Frame called Jehuty, after the colony he lives in is attacked . After learning the controls, we fight our first boss fight. Which was really easy, even on Hard. But I doubt it will stay that way. He's then contacted by Elena Weinberg, the commander of the civilian transport vessel Atlantis, and asked to bring the Jehuty to her. It belongs to the Earth's military force, and with the pilot having died in the attack, Leo is their only hope. He agrees to do so, but is against doing any killing for them. We'll see how that goes.. After leaving the first area, we end up travelling to another, and fighting boss #2. This was a pretty big step up in difficulty from the first one, and I died.. I replayed and beat him, but then had to redo it a few times. You need to prevent him from destroying the town too much, or you won't be able to get a good rank on a rescue mission later on. We'll see if I did it well enough. Otherwise, I may have to reload from before the fight and try again.. After beating him, we picked up a girl Leo knows, named Celvice. And that's pretty much the extent of the story, thus far. Game seems decent enough. I haven't done a rescue mission yet, but you have to play on Hard and get A ranks on almost all of them. Other than that, it's just good old robot fighting. Jehuty has ranged and close-up attacks. You can block and dodge enemy attacks. And that's about the extent of it. Try to melee or shoot the enemy, while dodging or blocking their attacks. Time played: 1 hour Trophy progress: 3/25 for 7% and an E rank. Popular Post Metal Slime King
I got far enough in FFXIV today to start some of the crafting professions. They are different non-combat classes that you switch to simply by equipping the associated tool to your main hand (this is also how you switch between different combat classes). They all have their own xp levels. A funny side effect of this is that when you start a new profession at lv1 none of your gear is likely to be compatible with your class / level so you wind up standing around in your underwear. That's how I prefer to spend my first day at any new job. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #1 - Final Impressions Total time played_ around 3h Trophies earned: 9/52 I know that I still have quite a few hours left before the "3rd" day is over, but I take my Vita needing to be charged as a sign to put this game to the side. My progress consists of getting to the boss of chapter 2, where the bullshit just starts to pile up. As previously mentioned this game is a tactical-RPG, which means turn-based combat on a grid. The battle area has several elevations to it, which can be used as a tactical advantage. You can change the camera angel/zoom with the thumbsticks and have a party of up to 4 people. You get to move a certain number of squares each turn and then you get to perform an action, like attacking, using item, life object because we really needed pointless crap in this game. Speaking of pointless crap, let's have a look at some of the design choices/mechanics. The game starts out with a tutorial, that has yet to properly finish, as the game decides to dump mechanic after mechanic on you. As previously said, I'm at the boss of chapter 2, which is when they decide to give you a tutorial on movement options. That's something that would have been great to know at the start of the game. Speaking of mechanics that get introduced. There's one that let's party members do more damage if they are next to one another. This would be fine, if the game wouldn't decide to punish you for it on occasion. A perfect example is the current mission I'm on. You get three objectives I think, which are destroying a bunch of bombs scattered around in under 15 turns, killing the boss and the remaining enemies. This needs to be done while dodging traps that are scattered around the room, so you will not be able to get from point A to B using the shortest path. This only covers about two-thirds of the map, the last one is an elevated area with 2 cannons that deal massive damage spaced over the area of 3x3 tiles. So if you have characters grouped together, this will not be an enjoyable experience. In case you're wondering, the cannons have a conscience and only damage your characters not the enemies. Quick not on elevation concept. There was a mission where there were chest on higher ground, which were in no way reachable as there was nothing around to pick up and stack in front of the wall... Oh and some chests need to be opened with a specific element, which seems like such a useless mechanic in general. This nonsense is also applied to your characters/enemies. Taking more/less damage, if the elements are different or the same. It just doesn't feel like something that should be in this game. Anyway the good things about the game is that the voice-acting is in English and not absolute garbage and that you can save at any time. The latter should be a mandatory option in a handheld game, I only point it out as something positive as almost no other games on the vita do that. As expected, it's an ok title, that'll be enjoyable enough as a filler between games. PS: I still can't see the use of buying furniture / create game discs (because breaking the 4th wall is a thing, that falls flat on it's face in this).
Popular Post Jaguargenie
Game 1 Review Trophies: 3/37 ; 4% ; D Ooph... this is going to be a grind and a half. Probably put 5 hours or so into this this far. If anyone has ever played Marvel Ultimate Alliance, then you know what this game is all about. But it adds loot. Lots and lots of loot. It's also free to play MMO, so there's lots of opportunities for micro transactions. I got Daredevil for free so I've been playing with him, and I actually felt compelled to give them some money because I'm really enjoying it. This game could be played completely free without buying anything. But it will be an even bigger grind. So, what is it? It's an isometric, loot heavy, comic book character beat em up. The enemy variety is really pretty repetitive and the voice acting gets old real quick because phrases get repeated All The Time. But the loot keeps pulling at you. Stuff drops nearly from every enemy. The 'just one more room' mentality definitely applies here. As for depth, I honestly don't know. I haven't finished the story yet, but from the look of the trophy list, the majority of the game a really opens up after max level and story completion. I don't know what some of the stuff is on the list. It appears like a huge game. I just hope that the repetition and grind doesn't get too much. Overall: B Chance I platinum: 10% Edited November 3, 2017 by Jaguargenie
MarkusT1992
20 hours ago, voodoo_eyes said: I actually have this game on my wishlist. It's a shame that you don't enjoy it very much. From your description it sounds like virtual gardening (which is probably what I can expect from Yonder). I haven't played Yonder but what I have seen from it it's very different. The main problem with Lili is that it is just to repetitive. Each spirit is pretty much the same and appart from chasing all the spirits in an area, going back to talk to someone and going in the next area you can't do much. Each time you leave an area and come back all flowers and vases are back so you can't collect everything. I guess that is for the 1000 flowers and vases trophy.
Popular Post Oobedoob S Benubi
Game #2: Darksiders First dayTotal playtime: over nine hours It seems to become a trend that my first game in a KYC event is very disappointing, followed by a game I appreciate more. This wasn't always so (I started KYC1 with Tropico 5 which I loved, and my first game from KYC2 was the in-my-opinion-mediocre BADLAND), but KYC5 now makes three very disappointing first games in a row. On to my second game, Darksiders. For people who have played it and want to know how far into the game I am: Spoiler I just joined forces with Ruin. Darksiders is not an amazing game, but it is entertaining enough that I am willing to forgive it for its flaws. And there are some flaws to be found in this game... If anyone knows one thing about Darksiders other than its main character, it's probably how much the game borrows/steals from other games, mostly God Of War and Zelda. However, the combat in God Of War was much more fun and the dungeons in Zelda were much better designed. Combatin Darksiders can pretty much be summed up as spamming your sword attack and then dodging or blocking whenever an enemy starts an attack. After having some trouble with the first real boss fight even though I had set the game to 'easy', I thought I might be in trouble but the game has becoming easier ever since - or rather, the game is keeping itself on the same level while it lets me level up my health and my sword damage. The dungeons in Darksiders are not that well designed. Yeah they do the "see this bit here that you can get past with the dungeon's new weapon?" schtick that Zelda does but Darksiders does it far too often, and makes every dungeon - or at least the two I've been in - be too much about constant backtracking. That's not fun. Then there's my gripe with the story. It's about an apocalyptic war between Heaven and Hell yet nobody seems to be able to use words like "Heaven", "Hell", "God" or "Satan". The backstory of the Horsemen is basically ripped out of Spawn - being an impartial being that makes sure Heaven and Hell stick to the rules of the game. Yet somehow in Darksiders, they feel the need to use words like "Creator" and "Destroyer" and "kingdoms". Snooze. Yet somehow, in the end, it's not all that bad. Just like with the flawed God Of War rip-offs Castlevania Lords Of Shadow and Dante's Inferno, I find myself forgiving Darksiders for its flaws and letting it take me along for the ride. It might be because I enjoy a good apocalyptic war story, it might be because I got the duology for €15 and tend to be more forgiving towards cheaper games. In the end, I find myself having enough fun to want to keep on going, and that's what matters. We'll see how much I am willing to forgive Darksiders come the end but for now I'd probably give it a pure 'mediocre' rating, not that good but not that bad either, with maybe one if I'm being generous. It's definitely not yet getting a at this point. If you haven't played Darksiders yet but are thinking about giving it a go, the duology is now €10 on PS4 in the EU store.
Lorajet
I'm sure I'm too late for this, but would love to do this next time.
