Popular Post TheStark700
Releases on April 12: Test Your Skill in an All-New Game Mode Take on a whole new kind of challenge in “The Spider’s Thread,” a new mode separate from the main game and selectable from the main menu. Players must navigate a 30-stage gauntlet assembled from over 130 handcrafted levels with one simple goal: get to the end. It won’t be easy, but making your way through levels and clearing challenges will help you earn crucial upgrades to become stronger. But beware: if you’re defeated during a run, you’ll have to start back from the beginning. However, this time you’ll have a portion of your upgrades retained. Descend the Spider’s Thread, unlock more skills, level up and conquer this game mode for skilled Ghostwire fans! Uncover More in the Main Story The Ghostwire: Tokyo “Spider’s Thread” update adds new locations to visit in the ghost-riddled streets of supernatural Tokyo, including the eerie Middle School area. There’s something ominous in session inside those classrooms, but for those who really don’t like spooky games, the new “Reduced Horror Effects” setting will replace certain psychic effects with adorable SHIIBUYA HACHI stickers! In addition to new missions, the update features extended story cutscenes, granting players more character interaction and insight into the plot as they play through Akito and KK’s journey to stop the menacing Hannya. Boost Your Skills to Battle New Foes To stop the worlds of the living and the supernatural from colliding, players will need to face the malevolent, otherworldly Visitors seeping into Tokyo’s streets. With the Ghostwire: Tokyo “Spider’s Thread” update, Akito’s arsenal of skills is bolstered with new combat skills like the Counter-Attack to follow up a successful block, Quick Dodging to evade enemy attacks and the Charge Rush, an evolution of your Ethereal Weaving technique that allows you to augment your Palm Strike into an elementally charged melee strike! Players can also make use of new Tengu Wind and Spiritual Fountain talismans, allowing them to drop a whirlwind to reach new heights or a spring to replenish their Ether reserves when munitions run low. All these new tools in your toolbox will come in handy, as new threats have also emerged in Tokyo. Stay alert for malicious new Visitors prowling the alleys such as the fast-moving Retribution, invisible Silent Gaze or the high-flying Sanguine Dancer. With Akito’s new skills and KK at your side, however, there’s no challenge you won’t overcome to save Akito’s family and all of Tokyo! Expanded Photo Mode and More That’s not all the exciting content to unravel in the Ghostwire: Tokyo “Spider’s Thread” update! Capture a souvenir pic with an expanded Photo Mode feature, including stamps to overlay on your images. Use in-game Meika to unlock figures at capsule machines scattered throughout Tokyo to unlock game models that you can even use in Photo Mode for supernatural selfies. On top of a new game mode, the Spider’s Thread update includes many additions to the main story campaign for Ghostwire: Tokyo. bikeman223
Slightly off topic, but did Ghostwire Tokyo make anyone else feel slightly sick? The visual design is kind of a sensory overload, I'm not keen to revisit it to see if it still makes me nauseous. proud2bNs
April 12 is also the release date on XBOX, because the timed exclusivity on PlayStation is running out. Microsoft probably asked (paid) them to add content to celebrate the XBOX release. They did the same with Deathloop.

I mean, Xbox owns Ghostwire and Deathloop, they didn't have to ask they just told them to do it. Edited March 15, 2023 by Lion_Squid
ZenaxPure
Wasn't ever expecting to see anything from Ghostwire again. Extended story sequences are interesting, I wonder if people felt the game was lacking in that regard or something. Personally I kinda enjoyed how straightforward the story was and liked how they didn't overindulge in cutscenes. Expanding the combat and having a new rogue-lite sounding mode is cool though. The game felt really unique (parry focused first person combat isn't exactly that common) so I'd love to go back in and play it some more. Hope there are trophies for that mode.
craig_obviously
I would love a reason to go back and play, it was enjoyable enough if not a little collectible heavy...but a rogue-lite mode definitely has my interest
Dreakon13
I found the game pretty underwhelming as I was playing it, I can't say I really cared about the characters or story or anything all that much by the end, and the gameplay wasn't blowing me away. I didn't find the game particularly "spooky" either outside of a few moments. But with some time having passed, I do kinda look back on the game fondly. It had a charm to it. I kinda wouldn't hate playing through it again if it did expand the story more.

ArabianSwordsman
Dang, I was hoping we’d be able to use the infinite ammo unlock for the new mode but I think I was too ambitious. I can’t wait to play it either way I loved the game.

I personally hate Rogue lite games, i'll wait for a trophy guide.
Laozuli
I think most of it looks allright as well, just more collectibles/sidequests in the main game + completing the new dlc. One thing I did spot in the video posted by Umdytr is an overview of the cat catalogue with all the jobs you apparently need to complete for a throphy/achievement. Again most look straightforward by just completing the dlc but if you pauze at 3min you can see you also need to "complete the 30f without taking damage on any floor along the way". This might be a bit of a pain but we'll see how we can tackle this one when the dlc drops. Either by savescumming or finding OP stats with the new gear and abilities. I suggest we post some tips for each other when it arrives tmr!
Popular Post PhyrxianLibrarin
30 floors of a roguelike with no damage?! That's ludicrous, especially in a game with slow movement, chip damage through blocking, and basically no dodge mechanics. Maybe the update will introduce some new abilities that make that more feasible. You know what, I finished Ghostwire and I enjoyed it, but I'm genuinely tired of every game getting a roguelike mode slapped onto it, as if playing the same game loop over and over again is a substitute for more actual content.

PhyrxianLibrarin
I dunno, the task says "Complete the 30th floor without ever taking damage on any floor along the way." Unless it's been changed, that sure sounds like a hitless run to me.
