Popular Post Ryan Industries
Microsoft is shutting down Tango Gameworks, along with 3 other studios. They developed Evil Within, Evil Within 2, Hi-Fi Rush & Ghostwire Tokyo. It appears that everything will be safe from delisting. The other studios closing are Arkane Austin (developed Microsoft exclusive Redfall), Alpha Dog Games (developed iOS/Android games) and Roundhouse Studios. sepheroithisgod
I've only played Ghostwire Tokyo from them and thought it was pretty good. I'm always sad when good studios are shutdown. Hopefully, the devs are put on other teams instead of getting laid off.
starcrunch061
A shame. Those games were decently reviewed (and, in the case of Hi Fi Rush, well-reviewed). Nature of the beast, I guess...
Popular Post ZenaxPure
People told me it'd be different this time. Microsoft would lift all these devs up and not ruin them like they ruined Rare. Was I lied to? You really think people would do that. Just go on the internet and tell lies? Spoiler Do I need to add the /s? Hard to tell on the internet Anyway, this sucks obviously. I hope this doesn't ruin the LRG physical release for Hi-Fi Rush in some way. It's really weird that LRG announced they'd be doing it and it has still yet to go up. I really want it for my action game shelf.
MarcusPunisher
Well, there goes any hope for a potential Evil Within 3 when 2 was a major improvement. Ghostwire Tokyo was a major disappointment and Hi-Fi Rush looked like it could have brought some needed life back to the studio. Sadly, the gaming industry continues to be one of the worst places to work, cause many creative studios can have their doors shut down at any moment.

Popular Post MidnightDragon
Fucking Microsoft! Hopefully this and Embracer will shut people up on how great acquisitions supposedly are. 6 minutes ago, JPtheNeurotic said: This industry is totally ok and healthy Amazed if you typed that with a straight face. Doodlebawp
Hi-Fi Rush is an absolute gem. It'd be great if the minds behind that game form their own studio, but that's easier said than done. Overall I'm not shocked at this move by Microsoft. Gotta free up some budget space to pump out those yearly, "high-quality" Fallout games now that its the flavor of the month TV show.
Popular Post Eagle
Pleasantly surprised this thread managed to be made before it got created by someone (not a particular someone, it's a general statement) who's exclusively anti-Xbox and not anti-corporate acquisition as a whole – which, with all due respect, is naïve at best and being openly a fanperson at worst – especially because there's already much more of a positive outcome in the replies instead of it being railroaded into a console war "debate". In any case, I echo the statement that I hope that, between this and Embracer, people realize the shortcomings of monopoly and its lack of longcomings. Sadly, I don't think it will do much. DJ_Murda_Murk
Really sucks to see a solid studio go down especially one that did some outside the box kind of stuff

Yeah, I got tired of waiting, it's currently on a decent sale on PSN, and I had some PS Stars points to redeem for a voucher, so I pulled the trigger. Popular Post Viper
While I haven't played anything made by these studios, this is just a damn shame. Microsoft spending all this money to keep games out of Sony's hands, and instead of doing something new and innovative with them, they just shut their doors and more people have to lose their jobs. Ridiculous.

Popular Post TheStark700
Truly sad... Hi-Fi Rush was one of my favorite games they made and also, Tango shutting down means we're definitely not getting The Evil Within 3. Some people on social media believe they are putting resources into COD which, if true, makes this even more sad.
Popular Post CelestialRequiem
The original The Evil Within is an incredible game, some of Shinji Mikami's best work. Even though I didn't care for the sequel, I do want to try Ghostwire: Tokyo and Hi-Fi Rush. Interesting that they didn't even allow Tango to try to be independent and just closed them down. 9
Popular Post SkippiesBar
Shinji Mikami is reportedly starting a new studio. Hopefully the good talent who worked on previous Tango titles can join him there and makes new games free from big corporate bs. And who knows... maybe in a few years such new studio is acquired by Microsoft.
SlippiThePippi
Heart goes out to all those laid off, but the most perplexing one for me is Arkane Austin. Imagine mandating the creation of Redfall from a studio like Arkane known for Dishonoured, watching it fail, and instead of reflecting on corporate decisions or finding a way to re-distribute salaries, let all the devs go. Really hope Rocksteady dosent go this way too with how suicide squad turned out
Popular Post Biscoito18
I really wanted another The Evil Within. I love both games and Ghostwire was a pleasant surprise. It's a huge shame.
