Popular Post Mipsy
#10: Doki Doki Literature Club Plus (PS5) Spoiler Spoilers abound! Doki Doki has received tens of thousands of opinions from the moon and back. I headed into it largely spoiler-free and came away mixed, yet somewhat positive. One element of feedback from all over the place is the nagging assumption that few of its players had ever touched metafiction before, or that the game's shock/twist factor constitutes its greatest value. It must have drawn in a staggering amount of players who'd hardly encountered visual novels before. There, I reluctantly acknowledge the great value yet increasingly pined during my journey for a deeper, more traditional narrative, one that more deftly and piercingly probed the cast's mentalities, drawbacks, coping strategies, et al. - think Katawa Shoujo, for mental instead of physical wellness. I yearned to bond with and learn more about Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri, and Monika, completely independent of both dating potential /and/ the game's meta-narrative "breakdown". For all the memery, Monika's hijacking and deletion of the game's script and cast largely...disappointed me. She didn't really give me chills, nor any admiration for her achievement. Mostly I sat bemoaning the loss of the unaware trio, as well as miffed that I needed (well, for platinum's sake) to revisit the suicides and "shock" factors over...and over...and over again. ._. Thing is, I generally like the game's concept, if it were bolstered and extended to perhaps approach a standard visual novel's length, one where the MC could invest adequate days into the lives of each of the gals - Monika included - so that the eventual meta-twists would both land surer and impact stronger. Rather than nudge Sayori and Yuri to suicide /hastily/, and rather than wipe poor Natsuki with *nary* a satisfying resolution for her, the Monika construct would spend ample time in observation of the player/character interactions, and thus earn a road longer traveled if/when she cracked. The artwork's superb, the music charming, the script tactful and mostly intelligent for as long as it sticks to convention - the Twists, and therefore the game's rightful Selling Point, mildly disappointed me, is all, in part execution and in part haste. Then we come to the Side Stories added for Plus, and I got damn near exactly what I sought in the first place: rewarding chats, generally impressive handling of delicate subject material, smiles and tears and hugs amongst the cute girls - this girl can nearly *never* say no to the cutest of girls - and what do you know, my disposition rapidly improved, and I came away more than satisfied with the bonus content. ;w; My perspective surely sharply differs from the standard, yet I felt it all the same. I can't diss Doki Doki, not after beholding its zenith. I definitely sought more from the base (and mega-popular) game, but I'll gladly applaud its strong suits and credit its due where it's indeed due. ^-^ In the end, no regret makin' it my 10th Platter! ...just, ahh, steer clear of the fandom. Wellllllll, any fandom. Good grief, fandoms at large are, like, the feckin' worst. e.o Hoy... Trophies offer zero skill resistance, this being (ostensibly) a VN. A couple of RNG points will doubtlessly frustrate, if the RNG goddess fuckily punishes you. I for one failed to grasp any benefit added from the RNG-iness. Myeh. Oh, and since I'm supposed to by Internet law answer the unspoken question: my favorite's torn between Sayori and Natsuki, with the former likely holding a slim and tentative tiebreaker. Yuri's third - Yuri the gal, that is, not yuri the material. Yuri the material reigns forever, zam~
Popular Post JAK-KRIEG
#622 - Resident Evil Village It's great that RE has gone back to what it was initially about namely survival horror. I thoroughly enjoyed it although it wasn't nearly as scary as Biohazard, those bakers are so good that this new family kind of pales in comparison. It's still a good game with nice visuals and solid gameplay with a decent story. I'm looking forward to see what the next game brings. I really hope that RE5 & 6 are dead and buried and will not foster any more shitty titles. Popular Post Sora9427
The Dark SoulAcquire all trophies FINALLY!!! I'm done with this game! I totally understand and agree why it's considered the worst entry in the From Software Series, it surly is! I don't know who thought that it was the right idea after the First title to put Soooo many enemies in your way and all over the game, it made it mostly annoying and frustrating rather than a fun challenge. It has soo many bad areas, between Elements like Poison you just have to get through and a ton of enemies in the way. Overall it's nto even that bad but if i think back i just remember how annoying some areas like the Iron keep are to going through! That area is the perfect example of the game, Just a super bad desing and some nice ideas. The place is Filled with literally 15? Something around that numebr enemies between you and the first boss, and the boss is fun too! But it gets sooo tedious every time because you have to face all the enmies, can't even skip them because the hit you while you pass the fog gate blocking you from going through. In the Ng+ and Ng++ run i just skipped that boss and went to the alst bonfire of the area to not fight again all the enemies! And then at the end? A pretty disappointing boss you just have to wait to be open and hit that's it. As said that area is the perfect summary of the game. It has sooo many enemies all over the place for no reason i just skipped 90% of them in the Ng+/++ runs and even when possible, going back to the bosses in the first run, sadly often you can't really skip them. There are a lot of bosses too but actually like maybe 10? Are really good and nice fights and i enjoied them, some are jokes like the Dragondirer, come on or the Dragon guardian, had fun waitin 2 minutes for it to stop spamming fire and get down for the last 2 hits.... And the Good ones such as the Smelter demon indeed have terrible run ups to them! But ehi ther are 2 bonfires right in front of the Rat vanguard and Rat authority, because those are totally hard boss you need the Bonfire right in front..... The Dlcs too, they were interesting, still too many enemies around but the areas are nice, Bosses not so much. Can't understand how people like Fighting Sir alonne for me it was Awful. So boring, is supposedly fun having to avoid 6-7 hits and then get 1 hit and reapeat this like 10+ times? Personally not. That or Use a Shield, tank the hits, hope the MASSIVE hitbos of the attacck that buffed him didn't hit you and just get 1 hit in still when possible. For me it was so boring, glad with 2 summons it was pretty easy since it ingored me. Even thre the run up it's Awful, i basiclaly cleared the Enemies from respawning... Glad you don't even have to finish the DLCs or doing everything ebcause otherwise i would be here writing a massive text on how Stupid the Blue Smeleter demon (Not the boss but the Area itself, defintiively worst of the game) and the Ivory kingk i think it is, boss are! Anyway overall i'm glad to be done with the game, it has his moments but most of it is bad, the story is even interesting but i just didn't care after a while. Here my Plat Screenshot and you can see my equipment too: Spoiler Yes, thanks i'm Good game, i think 60 hours it's not soon enough! I used the Greatsword for 90% fo the game and the Sinner Greatsword for the Ng++ run. Started Using Dark weapon before the Dlcs and Ng+ run, i had to Rearrange my stats (after the medal farm for the Sunlight covenant) and so i put enough to use Dark weapon. I saw it used on speedruns i watch sometimes and it looked strong and indeed it was a nice damage buff in boss battles, lasting a lot actually too once i got my INT up to 20+! I used for almost all the game the Havel set too, i really liked the Armor since the First one andit offered a lot of defense, sure it was heavy but i had enough stats to Mid-roll all game no problem. Anyway that's all, My first plat fo the year and in almost 8 months too O.o I'm done with Soul games for a while, i have Dark soul 3 next probably gonna play it at the end of the year, i know alreayd how it is and that it's A LOT better. I wonder what to play there, i'm not much into magic in this games so probably not that, maybe a light sword playstyle, i did Greatswaords now and Spears in Ds1 after all. I'll see. For now, back to Persona Dancing in Starlight and probably gonna start a bit of Atelier Sophie DX (even if i'll play it properly finished Ace attorney), i'm getting sophie 2 in 2 weeks so i really should play the first one! (I started the regular version but this was 2 years i'll just start from scratch on the DX version and then get right away to the Base version to plat it fast knwoing what to do) Edited February 12, 2022 by Sora9427

Popular Post PooPooBlast
#171 Crysis Remastered Yes, our consoles can finally run crysis . Having beat the game in three sittings (about 3-4 hrs each), the campaign went by so quickly! You play as lieutenant Nomad with a fancy shmancy suit who is deployed in North Korea to investigate a strange energy source (believed to be coming from nuclear weapons). However, soon enough, you discover, the north Koreans are actually innocent and the Americans have invaded another country as per usual. Just kidding, you discover there are aliens involved. . New objective: kill aliens. As a game from 2007, it shows its age even in the remaster with clunky shooting and wonky AI. Nevertheless, what it accomplished at that time was certainly revolutionary. It has some decent destructible environments, great graphics, open ended missions, controlling air and land vehicles, a not bad fps story and some nice suit mechanics like cloaking to become invisible (predator style) and initiating armour mode to tank hits. Overall, Crysis 1 was short and sweet and well worth it if you enjoy fps as a genre.

Popular Post EverythingOnFire
Platinum #37 CARRION Playtime: 8 hours Difficulty: 3.25/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 A fantastic reverse-horror game where you play as the monster, trying to escape imprisonment and taking down everyone and everything in the process. Controlling the creature is great; feels otherworldly at times, but still (mostly) butter smooth. Has some of the better pacing I've seen in a video game, and the art design, music, & atmosphere are all tops. I actually think it's close to a perfect game. I say that simply because I feel like it very strongly achieved what it set out to do, not because I myself found it to be so. Navigation can get a little confusing at times, and there's no map. I also would have preferred a few less puzzles, and more moments of monster mayhem. Still though, overall I loved it and consider it a gem. I've seen a number of people say that it's too short, but IMO too many games nowadays overstay their welcome. Give it a try if you like horror, especially body horror & John Carpenters The Thing.

This time I did it much faster, because I was able to autopop some misc / time consuming trophies using my PS4 save file (my platinum trophy completion time for PS3 & PS4 versions were between 120-135 hours. This time around I only needed to focus on completing the main story, faction trophies (Dark Brotherhood, Thieves' Guild, Companions, etc.) and quests that give you Daedric artifacts. Playing and completing Skyrim was good as I remembered immersive and lots of fun and interesting quests to complete. "I used to be an adventurer like you. Popular Post rjkclarke
Platinum #345 Wreckfest (PS4) Master of Crashes Collect All Trophies. Every once in a while a video game can just sneak up and surprise you completely out of the blue, for me, Wreckfest is one of the most recent examples of that. Wreckfest was brought to you by Bugbear Entertainment – the company that gave us the first few titles in the FlatOut series. Wreckfest is a game that lets you race in traditional Races, Banger Races, Challenge Events and Destruction Derby’s. FlatOut was a series that I very much enjoyed back on the PS2, so to see its spirit being kept alive in the body of Wreckfest was a pleasant treat. Until doing a bit of research for this review, it had slipped my mind completely that they had made those games. Is Wreckfest the best game I’ve ever played? Absolutely not, but for a game I went into, with practically no expectations and just a vague idea of what the game would be like, what I didn’t expect was for it to be quite what it was. There’s an underlying sense of fun and light-heartedness that has been woven into the game that I personally really enjoyed. Not only can you drive cars, you can also drive motorised sofas, lawnmowers, school buses and probably the most curious inclusion a Supervan (Three Wheeler,) based on Reliant Robin/Regal’s. The latter was something I found particularly funny as my Dad owns one, so competing in the event where you have to outrun some Big Rig Trucks, driving a tiny three wheeled car that keeps tipping over made it all the more amusing for me. Rightly – or wrongly, I suppose – depending on your specific perspective, one cursory glance towards Wreckfest would probably remind you of a more modern take on Demolition Derby. So by extension you’d expect it to be a little more of an arcade-racer than a simulation racer, which was certainly my idea of it before I’d even loaded the game up for the first time. What I didn’t expect was the amount of depth that Wreckfest possesses as a racer – there are many, many gamers more qualified to talk about racing games than I am, so take this with a hefty grain of salt if you like. I didn’t go into Wreckfest thinking the racing would have all that much depth to it outside of wanton destruction, but depth there is – and far more than I ever expected there to be. One of the best aspects of Wreckfest in my eyes – was the huge amount of customisation options that are available to you. I don’t just mean within the confines of changing a cars appearance, it goes far beyond that. You can customise events, cars too, obviously, and in my opinion, greatest of all the customisable options, the difficulty. Here is where the depth of the game manifests itself – you can essentially tailor Wreckfest to almost play however you want it too, and I loved that. The difficulty options are incredibly broad and varied, offering quite a large amount of distinct differences, depending on which settings you use. I ended up experimenting with quite few of the difficulty options like this. I must be clear when I say difficulty too – it isn’t one size fits all. For example you could change the damage, to realistic, but keep the opponent A.I difficulty at whatever level you personally feel comfortable with. Making the game as hard or easy, as you like. What this essentially means is that if you’re looking for a more arcade style experience, then you can turn the damage down as low as possible – tinker with the A.I settings until you’re comfortable, and just go hell for leather ramming opponents with almost no consequences, that is just as valid – and arguably just as fun as how I approached parts of it. A lot of the time I played it, I set the damage to realistic, and again, found an A.I slider that I was comfortable with and raced like that. For me that turned the game into a really interesting – arcade/simulation racing hybrid, and I ended up having a lot of fun as a result of that. I’m not here to tell you how to play your own games, far from it – which is exactly why I’m trying to shine a light on how much you can tailor this to your own personal preferences, and that really is a positive, I think. On a visual level Wreckfest has no business looking as good as it does. Sure, Need for Speed titles might look a little more polished and shiny, but Wreckfest KNOWS, that it’s getting down and dirty, in pits of mud, with broken car chassis aplenty and sparks and debris flying through the air. When I said the damage was realistic, the game means it – and, that is no lie. There were so many times during some of the longer races where I found myself nursing a car around a track full of wrecks with one less wheel than I should have had. For me this was one of the highpoints of Wreckfest, its driving mechanics and gameplay. The controls are tight and responsive all of the time the car is intact, but the minute it isn’t, then you have a constant battle with your car to even drive in a straight line. I distinctly remember having a slightly damaged car, and thinking it was fine to take my hand away from the controller for a second or two and scratch my nose, the reality? I crashed into the wall, very hard, and very fast losing a wheel in the process, because my Car was a little too damaged to even drive in a straight line. If none of that appeals to you, don’t worry about it, turn the damage down as low as possible and you’ll almost never encounter that aspect of the game. When I reviewed Dangrous Driving not too long ago, I was very critical of the fact that the wrecked cars stay on the track. That happens in Wreckfest too, but in this games case it’s a positive, as the racers don’t re-spawn. Whereas it significantly hampered the experience in Dangerous Driving, as the racers would just re-spawn straight away. Wreckfest’s modus operandi is very much in the vein of Chaos, carnage, and destruction. So, when you have a lot of car wrecks build up during a race, that makes the races that much more exhilarating, as you have to suddenly brake incredibly hard, to swerve around a car wreck that might not have been there before. on the previous lap. In that same regard, almost no race feels the same, as you can never quite predict what’s going to happen. From an audio perspective Wreckfest is really well realised too – it has a pretty minute attention to detail too, something I really liked. A real testament to the abilities of the foley artists here, as almost every vehicle sounds distinctly different on impact, as well as the engine sounds themselves, there was clearly a lot of work that went into this aspect of the game. The licensed soundtrack in Wreckfest is also pretty decent too, it isn’t the best ever, but it’s varied at the very least. I’ll be honest though, after a while I basically turned the in-game soundtrack down and played my own playlists through Spotify. I think that was the right decision in the end. How many people can say they’ve listened to Gimme Chocolate by Babymetal whilst riding a lawnmower, racing against twenty-three other lawnmowers, as you drive past them as they burst into flames as they crash into one another? That was definitely surreal, but incredibly memorable at least. The journey towards the platinum in Wreckfest is a fairly simple one. You have to complete each of the championships in career mode, complete all of the challenges in career mode, too, reach player level 50. Then there are just a few miscellaneous trophies and then get twenty wins in the online multiplayer. Nothing in the career mode is difficulty specific so you’re free to play it at whatever difficulty levels you feel comfortable with, which I thought was a nice addition. Would I recommend Wreckfest? Yes, this is actually a very easy one to recommend – maybe I’m just a little shocked by how much of a pleasant surprise this was, I didn’t expect to enjoy it quite as much as I did, but this game really did surprise me with how much I enjoyed it. It won’t be for everyone of course, but if any of the aspects of the game I covered seem appealing to any of you then, it wouldn’t hurt to try it out for yourselves. I think it has the potential to appeal to a fairly broad player base, in that regard.

Popular Post Darghel
#133 The Curse of Castle Rock (We Were Here) Difficulty: Pretty easy with a good partner Time to Complete: about 3 hours Recommended: Yes, but maybe find someone to play. And a guide to be sure. Total score: 6/10 Shoutout for @ShockinGUS for the help and actually making us enjoy the game first then do a proper run. Afterall we gotta enjoy our platinums, am I right? Beyond that though, not much to say: it's a fun co-op puzzle game where one player is the explorer, while the other is a librarian. The explorer "explores" the parts of the castle, and the librarian helps the explorer solving the puzzles by giving them the solutions. Not gonna lie it's a very fun concept and it's not the type of game I can always play due to having no close friends to play with (I have a sister but she is picky with her games, ARGH, anyway) but having finally managed to play it I really enjoyed it, and the platinum it's not too bad but a guide is recommended, even if it's an extremely short game. #134 Legendary (Rayman Legends) Difficulty: The game itself isn't too hard but...the online... Time to Complete: at least 3 to 4 months, give or take Recommended: the game itself yes, the platinum no. Total score: 10/10 the game, 0/10 the platinum This game...this game encompasses everything that makes online trophies bad. This game is the definition of overbloated. This game shouldn't been this annoying to complete. And yet here we are, months of grinding cups, while also playing the game, I finally managed to get this annoying platinum. And it pains me to say that the game is great, it's fantastic, it's probably one of my favorite platformers in years. But the online is just....why? I mean I can't really say much here, because the game hasn't many things to say: I could say that the controls are floaty and it feels like I'm controlling a car rather than a character, and that the hitboxes can be messy, and that the invasions are tough as nails, but really that's nothing comparing to the online challenges required. To put it in perspective: i required around 1500 points after finishing the game and doing all paintings to reach level 11. You gain 10 points for each gold cup (50 if you can manage diamonds). You can get up to 2 gold cups a day, up to 70 gold cups a week, which means 140 points. You will need approximately 10 weeks (and a half) to get the final level. That's about 2 to 3 months of grinding cups EVERYDAY. Yeah this is stupid! This isn't an mmorpg where dailies are gating you from progressing too fast. This is meant to be done at the end. I just don't understand this. Bottom line, fantastic game, godawful platinum, I'm finally free from this game, from being forced to grind cups everyday, and occasionally getting a diamond (I won 7, wohoo!), and then waiting a day because I can't do much else. It's truly a shame this game has such a terrible online trophy, and it's the biggest example as to why online trophies shouldn't be in offline-centric games! #135 The King of Youshanding (Dusk Diver) Difficulty: The occasional spike, but overall very easy. Time to Complete: around 15-20 hours Recommended: Yes Total score: 7/10 And to end this day of valentine's day (yikes I forgot it was valentine's day. Well good thing I'm single!) here's a simpler platinum after the stressful rayman legends. To be fair I've been playing this for a few days so it's not something that recent, but still I enjoyed the gameplay. If anything my biggest gripes are the "not-so-smooth" controls, the fact that enemies have armor and it's a pain to break it, a couple of bosses were just frustrating to beat (in particular chapter 8 and 9 have some very annoying bosses that while not hard per se, they love making you waste time), and maybe the camera could be a bit better since it kept resetting on the back while I tried to keep it above. But really I'm just nitpicking at this point: the game is fine, it's fun, and I really liked the characters (heck my sister likes the fish girl, of course), and I just realized that there's a sequel coming this very month too, which makes me happy because this game definitely deserved one. If they improve from the first, then it might be a big banger of a game! Anyway, as for this one, I recommended if you can get it cheap. It's easy, it's fun, and nothing too frustrating. And also an easy platinum to boot, so definitely not a bad deal! Edited February 15, 2022 by Darghel Few corrections
