Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #138 - Gal*Gunvolt Burst BURST MASTER - Obtain every other trophy 3,098 Owners - 558 Achievers for a percentage of 18.01% (average completion; 26.27%) Enjoyment; 7/10 Difficulty; 6/10 Trophies; 8/10 (No collectables, challenging requirements, nice icons) Grinding the Mine for Points; 10/10 Right, uh, I didn't expect to come back to the thread with this game as my latest Platinum. Heck, when I wrapped up my last two, I had no idea something called Gal*Gunvolt Burst even existed! But here we are now, with anothr Platinum ding in hand. This is a hodge-podge title that mixes together three different intellectual properties; ecchi rail shooter series Gal*Gun, which is where PSNP has catalogued this game, the 2D side-scrolling series Gunvolt which was heavily inspired by Megaman Zero, and th disastrous Mighty No. 9 series, created by Megaman alumnus Keiji Inafune. Gal*Gun and Mighty No. 9 were both published by Inti Creates, who return to develop and publish this game. Lots of Megaman influences then, and the game essentially plays as a clone of those classic games with you picking playable characters from each of the three series represented here. You run, jump, and shoot your way through a dozen or so levels, beating a boss at the end of each one; the bosses can give you elemental upgrades that make subsequent bosses easier.... so yes, essentially Megaman then. In Dutch we say, 'It is better to steal something good than to conceive something bad', and as much is true of Gal*Gunvolt Burst; there's nothing here that hasn't been done before, but then everything that has been added to the game makes sense and is well executed. The levels are bite-sized and don't overstay their welcome, the bosses have interesting patterns, and the different characters have enough about them to be propery differentiated from one another. There is a completely rudimentary story to the game that very, very quickly lost my interest but then you'd boot this game up for some retro goodness - not an engaging in-depth narrative - anyway. That, and a set of Trophies, which are quite decent. You get a few for maintaining a long streak of combo kills, for completing the game with each of the three base characters (so be prepared to play the whole thing at least thrice), for completing a playthrough without upgrading your character even once, and there's even a speedrun Trophy tossed in that requires you to clear the whole thing in under an hour! I managed to do so in just over 54 minutes, so I'd argue 60 is actually a fairly lenient amount. I will say that the guide for the game is full of shit - this is not a 4/10 difficulty game and certainly not something you can do in five hours even with the guide on hand - but it is still short(-ish), sweet, and packs quite a punch! It's also free on PS Plus Extra, which is how I found out about it and how I played it for "free". If you're feeling like a pretty straightforward but entertaining sidescroller is something you need in your life, give this one a try while it's still in the Plus catalogue.

Popular Post Raidou Kuzunoha XIV
I don't usually bother to write about my thoughts on games I've played/platinumed super often, since - as you're about to find out - I tend to have a habit of infodumping my thoughts excessively with an annoying amount of run-on sentences once I begin typing. But, it's been a while since I've written extensively about games that have trophies, and it feels somewhat "special" due to being (nearly) the end of the year. So I shall grace those with the tolerance to read this forthcoming mountain of words on not one, not two, but THREE games I've platinumed recently. Enjoy, and apologies to those that have to scroll past this behemoth. Platinum #196 Life is Strange: True Colours I've played just about every Don't Nod game there is, with the sole exception of Vampyr so far, but it's in the ol' backlog whenever I eventually get around to it. I often tend to dub them "Don't Nod Off" because, quite frankly, a lot of their games are kinda fucking boring. They tend to have interesting premises, but the execution isn't always the best. But I keep coming back to them because, despite the snores here and there, they're still generally good games that I do get some enjoyment out of, some more than others. But True Colours... is truly a treasure. It's an emotional rollercoaster of an experience, with a (mostly) loveable cast and an engaging plot. The storytelling feels a lot more mature and fleshed out than some of the earlier Don't Nod games I've played, and I think this entry would likely please many that don't typically like Don't Nod's games. I played this with my husband (that is, we both kinda just debated what decisions to pick together for the most part), whose generally more into these types of games than I am (he also enjoyed the first LiS and Before the Storm a lot more than I did), but we both seemed to be about as equally hooked to the game as each other. There's some genuinely tough decisions and moral dilemmas the game throws at you, really making you pause (sometimes literally) to think about your actions. The way the game presents its characters, each with their own struggles and fears, feels incredibly human and really helps in making you care about 'em, even the minor characters. The main character - Alex - has empath powers that results in her feeling any intense emotions of people in close vicinity to the same degree. While it certainly isn't amazingly fleshed out and feels a little overly simplistic at times, it produces some interesting situations and works very well as the game's central plot device. The game's presentation and art style are also pretty good as well, with a nice "realistic but with a slight cartoony flair" going on with the character designs and environment. The gameplay is about what you'd expect in this kinda game - it's on the mellow side but does its job pretty well, with a few little interesting surprises here and there. Both of us loved it, for my spouse in particular, he's cited it as being the best game he's played this year, with Grim Fandango in close 2nd. I'd personally say it's definitely in my top 3 of games I've played in 2022. Both of us found LiS 2 to be kinda disappointing, and this was a very pleasant surprise when we both went into it keeping our expectations low. That's not to say the game or story are perfect by any means, there's definitely some issues that hold it back from being a "true" masterpiece for me. Namely: The Pacing - It's a very short game, took us about 6-7 hours to finish, and being so short, things often feel like they're happening way too fast, with character development not really feeling like it has the time to truly... well, develop - at least not over a more steady, believable period. A lot feels rushed due to the short overall length of the game. Inconsistencies - there's a few little inconsistencies and minor plot holes here and there. I can't say much without potentially going into spoilers, but let's just say it definitely felt like it could use more polish. Fetch questy - this is kind of an issue with these types of games in general, in my experience, but nevertheless there were one too many moments that felt like unnecessary padding that added some tedium to our playthrough. Jank - Like the previous LiS games, this one is a bit janky, with some erratic camera movement at times, character's facial emotions resetting briefly/suddenly, clipping/invisible walls. etc. Other than that though, it's undoubtedly the best looking game in the series so far. Overall, it's an amazing experience that won't soon be forgotten. I'd highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys narrative focused games. We also played the Wavelengths DLC, which... honestly kinda just felt like a waste of money (we had the physical version of the game, the "deluxe upgrade" that included the DLC was £10, and has never been on sale [which ironically, is one of the reasons we held off on this game for over a year... hoping the DLC would go on sale]). It's about 2-3 hours long and takes place entirely in a single store, acting as a prequel of sorts following one of the major characters from the main game. It also plays some homage to the first LiS, and I can't recommend playing the DLC unless you've played that game first, and preferably also Before the Storm. It doesn't really contain spoilers per se, but it's definitely fanservice. Also, it adds zero new trophies. Anyhow, the DLC was honestly - disappointingly - kinda dull. It did add a bit of background development to the aforementioned major character, but nothing particularly groundbreaking, and there's some other characters mentioned during both the main game and this DLC (and some never shown), that I would have liked to see more backstory on. Our verdict is - True Colours is great, the Wavelengths DLC is skippable. Only bother playing it if you really like Steph and/or desperately want to experience a smidge more of the game before you lay it to rest once you're done with it. Oh and finally, the trophies... Piss easy. The only trophies other than the unmissable story ones are collectible related ones, and there aren't too many of them either. There's an excellent guide on Powerpyx for them, and you can very easily get them all in one playthrough (though if you do miss any, there's always chapter select). Platinum #197 Code: Realize - Wintertide Miracles Wintertide Miracles is the 3rd game/2nd fandisk in the Code Realize visual novel series, and the primary routes in it follow on directly from specific one(s) in the 2nd game, Future Blessings. It presumes you have knowledge of these games prior, but does give a brief summarisation to fill in those who may be clueless. Regardless, I can't recommend playing this unless you've played - and enjoyed - the previous entries. Also, yes, I played this specifically in December 'cause Christmas/winter. Being a otome fandisk, a lot of the VN consists of mostly filler fluff, and I quite frankly found things like the triangle dates and "First Christmas" routes kinda boring. Things do pick up in the Finis epilogue route and the new Cantarella side story though, the latter of which is where most of the actual story content seems to be had. It's hard to really talk about the plot points of visual novels too deeply without potentially spoiling them, so my actual thoughts on the stories themselves will be brief (I say, then proceed to write a wall, probably). As aforementioned, most of the new stories and routes are fanservice fluff. If that isn't your kind of thing, you probably won't like this VN very much, even if you perhaps enjoyed the original game. But the new side story (Cantarella) doesn't really focus much at all on the cute anime boys doing cute things (instead, there's a cute new anime girl). It's much more dramatic and engrossing than anything else Wintertide has to offer. Again, won't go much at all into plot details due to potential spoilers, but this part of the game doesn't even really feel like an otome at all, which is actually quite refreshing when most of the game is very much otome to an almost tedious degree. It certainly isn't anything to write home about, but it had me mildly interested enough throughout most of it. It's not too long (maybe about 8 hours at most?), but is definitely the longest route in the game, since most of them I could easily complete in a 1-3 hour session if I felt so inclined (I'm a slow reader), which was definitely not the case with Cantarella. The translation was decent from what I could tell (私の日本語はとても少し知ります, so I don't really have enough knowledge to know just how great of a job they did translating it to a different language), there's a few little discrepancies from what I could tell between the audio and translated text - and I don't just mean things translated/"added" to sound more natural in English, but some things I heard in the audio not even being referenced in the text, from what I could tell. Probably a reason for that maybe? I dunno, I'm no translator, I've occasionally noticed this in other Japanese to English games/media before as well. Perhaps my biggest complaint is that there was an almost disheartening amount of typos and other textual errors throughout (e.g. words being repeated twice, one weird occurrence of a word being replaced by a number, and very occasionally text would go off screen). The previous games had some typos here and there as well, but it seemed considerably worse in this entry. It definitely wasn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but it's probably one of the most egregious I've seen in a visual novel from recent memory. From what I understand, translators often get paid pittance, so I can't begrudge them for not putting an immaculate amount of effort into proofreading and such, but nevertheless it's disappointing in a game where the only real "gameplay" is reading. As for trophy difficulty... Uh, well, it's a visual novel, so you probably already know what to expect. There's zero gameplay aside from making choices, so the biggest hurdle is knowing what choices to make that lead to glossary entries and stuff for trophies. You could just brute force it, but there's plenty of excellent guides out there if you'd rather not waste your time. If you're one of those heathens that skips through all the text in VNs just for the trophies, you're in for a very easy time using a guide. I don't know how long it took me to finish as there's no in-game tracker for your playtime, and the time tracker on the PS5 and exophase are notoriously finicky, but I reckon it took me around 30-35 hours. As aforementioned, I'm a bit of a slow reader, and sometimes take little breaks to look up what certain words I hear in the Japanese audio mean, getting me sidetracked, but I'm not including the time I bumbled about not reading the game in my total playtime anyway. Overall, it's a mostly cute little fanservice VN for fans of Code Realize, with some more gripping story moments sprinkled in. Definitely not quite as entertaining as Future Blessings, but it's serviceable enough. It, and the main game in general, probably aren't going to be making any top 10 lists for me when it comes to visual novels, but I don't regret playing/reading them. I've already played some otomes that are better (I'm fairly new to the sub-genre), and it seems to be a not too uncommon consensus that Otomate games are decent, but a bit milquetoast and lacklustre, which is a sentiment I can certainly agree with so far. But visual novels, and games in general, that are just "decent" or "alright" are definitely appreciated now and then, especially a rather mellow and laid back read like this one mostly was. Platinum #198 Untitled Goose Game Honk, honk, motherfuckers - The Game. Having lived in the UK my entire life, I can attest that geese are indeed assholes (especially those Greylag ones), though of course, this game takes it to the next level for absurdity, comedic effect and most importantly of all, an excuse to commit wanton mayhem. This is a game I've been apprehensive about in the past, mostly for the fact it's often likened to Hitman, a series I haven't ever been able to gel very well with, despite wishing I could. However, after it got a physical release, my reptilian brain activated and my interest in the game heightened, all because "herp derp pretty plastic case that go clip clank clip with pwetty box art and shiny spinny disc". So I did as I do and bought it physically, then proceeded to display it on my shelves with my 35,314 other unplayed games until I finally bothered to get around to it fashionably late, as always. But man... I'm really glad I decided to buy this game. It's actually insanely fun, if short lived. I played it co-op with my husbando, which was a blast, with him getting to play as a fancy Chinese goose. Co-op wasn't originally a thing in this game, and there's a few moments where that's obvious, as certain tasks clearly weren't designed with co-op in mind, and the camera really doesn't like your geese getting too far apart. For some reason, like many co-op games, the 2nd player gets fuck all when it comes to trophies, the trophy list didn't even register for my SO for some reason, but thankfully he doesn't care much for trophies anyway. Regardless, I don't get why this is such an issue with so many co-op games, especially games that ARE designed around co-op from the get-go, like KeyWe, another game that gives a giant middle finger to the 2nd player in regards to trophies. But anyway, enough of that little side rant. The meat and potatoes of the game is, of course, being a goose and finding various ways to annoy the living shit out of the local villagers. The game gives you a "to do" list on how to accomplish this, though the objectives tend to not really give you any hints on how you should go about achieving them, and trying to figure out how to do so is a joy in and of itself. I think some of the tasks could have been a bit more open ended however, as a lot of the time, there's only one way to go about completing something, which is a little disappointing. The trophies are mostly pretty easy, you basically just have to complete everything on the "to do" list for each section of the town, which eventually results in you completing the game. Once the credits have rolled, there's additional tasks added, and you get to go through the village again completing these new objectives. Then comes the more difficult part of the game, the speedrun trophies. There's 4 of them - each having you complete every section of the village with the original "to do" tasks in under 6 minutes. For the most part, these weren't too bad, but one section of the village in particular really gave me some difficulty. It's not just down to your own skills, but luck - will this NPC decide to do X thing? Or Y thing? It's pretty frustrating, and the controls are a little janky which - while I could mostly ignore during the main game, became all the more apparent and irksome during these speedruns. I don't know whether or not the speedrun trophies are any easier solo or co-op, as my SO ducked out of doing them with me, so I did 'em all solo. It wasn't overly difficult, but they did make this the hardest trophy list out of the 3 listed here, which isn't saying much tbh. It was a very short experience, apparently taking us just a little over 5 hours (to platinum, about 2 hours to just see the credits). It will now proceed to go back to being a mantlepiece on my shelf for probably forever. But despite how brief the experience was, I'm not sure I'd have it any other way, and it'll definitely stick with me for a very long time. It has no real story, no dialogue, and no goal other than causing destruction, but it's somehow going to stick around in my brain's memory log for ages just for the pure enjoyment I had playing it. Games like this remind me of the simple pleasures I had as a kid just running around in the hub worlds as Spyro, maybe terrorising some sheep or such, just somehow getting enjoyment doing essentially fuck all.
Popular Post YaManSmevz
Platinum #82: Grand Theft Auto IV+? Taking A LibertySorry for taking liberties with your time. This is one of those you walk away from feeling equally satisfied and exhausted, for sure. Came into it feeling apprehensive and not super confident, but two playthroughs (Fifty hours getting everything and then ten more hours for a speedrun), two DLCs, and a fuckton of time spent online later, I am the proud owner of a GTA IV S rank? Controlling vehicles and weapons alike is as tricky as advertised, but it serves as being more of a challenge than lending artificial difficulty or anything like that. In my opinion, at least! Not perfectly refined, but certainly not broken either. It felt so gratifying to get a clean headshot, to drive through heavy traffic unscathed at top speed, or successfully tackle both aiming and maneuvering simultaneously in a helicopter (fuck that Gay Tony Buzzard tho, for real). BUT. This does mean that hitting those ridiculous time requirements in the online missions or getting 100% headshots or something in a Gay Tony mission are especially maddening, making the Fly the Co-op and Gold Star trophies far and away the toughest. The stupid pigeons and jumps, AWP and maxing out online, that stuff was of course grindy and annoying but never made me think "fuck, this is hard" like the former trophies did. But yeah, I love this game. A grim story, rich characters, and even if the gameplay does feel like the stepping stone between San Andreas and V, it's still so much fun. I'm gonna shut up now, cuz I could go on for days, but suffice to say that I enjoyed damn near every moment spent in HD Liberty City. And, at least til 2025 (or whenever tf we get GTA 6), I've completed the set, and that feels pretty nice! I platinumed the PS4 version awhile ago and decided while looking through my backlog that I'd platinum the PS3 version as well. Popular Post Redgrave
#265: The Architect - The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me Another year, another Dark Pictures game. Unfortunately The Devil in Me is so far the weakest entry of the series. It's not horrible by any means but it kind of comes off like the story in this was pitched, discarded, but then brought back because they needed something to do a season finale with. Without going too much into it, the story and twists are a bit predictable and at the same time it also didn't feel like you really learned anything. The previous games had their own twists that had some buildup and felt unique but The Devil in Me just kind of feels like the game starts off fine and then it just ends. Despite all that I will at least give the devs some slack because their previous entries have been good and I assume The Quarry also took up a lot of time while also preparing for the second season, so for now I will just hold this game as one of and hopefully the only weak entry of their games. The trophy list is slightly different from their previous games where they removed the Heart/Brain only playthrough which I am fine with but they also added two trophies that involve collecting all the items you can pick up for the characters' inventory as well as taking a certain amount of pictures as the character Markus. Both trophies can be kind of annoying to keep track of especially because they require you to either do the Curator's Cut mode provided you have it, or get them in co-op because you will have to grab certain items as the other character that's in a completely different area you would be. The same holds true for Markus as well since you have to go out of your way to make sure that you can play as him for some of them by making sure one or two characters are dead. It's also annoying because there isn't really a way to track the pictures you have taken with the only indication that you already have a picture being that the green highlight doesn't show up when you hover over something you need. Once again though I want to thank @Undead Wolf for playing with me. Hopefully the horrors of space will make a more thrilling story for their next game ? #266: True Wizard - Lego Harry Potter Collection: Years 1-4 With Hogwarts Legacy coming out soon, I figured why not catch up on my Harry Potter lore with the completely accurate Lego games ? I actually haven't seen all of the Harry Potter movies with only seeing at the very least the first two and possibly the third one but I don't remember it if I did. I didn't get much into the movies as a kid for some reason, possibly because Star Wars and Lord of the Rings had gotten to me first. But yeah, I got this game while it was free on PS+ and remembered I had it so I figured why not play it. It's a pretty standard Lego game that manages to scratch that itch of a game that rewards you for collecting stuff and destroying things. I guess this was also from before they started having the Lego characters talk in their games which in a way I kind of preferred. The trophies are pretty simple with not much to say about them other than I like the Metal Gear Solid reference named "Solid Snape" where you have to go inside a barrel as Professor Snape ? Beyond that like I said it's an enjoyable Lego game that can be pretty satisfying collecting stuff. The only real issue is for some collectibles in Hogwarts Castle there isn't a way to know where they are since a couple don't even have an indicator from the Red Bricks that act as cheat items. Thankfully it wasn't that bad though, and I feel like a part of it might be because I didn't know my way around Hogwarts since I wasn't very much into Harry Potter. Now the Coruscant Jedi Temple I can give you a tour on ? But playing this also made me want to play the original Lego Star Wars again since I don't think I 100% those so I would very much appreciate a remaster of The Complete Saga.
Popular Post Darling Baphomet
193: Red Matter (37.68%) Red Matter is a creepy, atmospheric puzzle game taking place on an abandoned communist base on... Mars? Let's double check that - no, it apparently takes place on one of Saturn's moons. Weird. Anyway, Red Matter is a competent puzzle and one of the prettier games I've played on PSVR. While the puzzles are simple, they feel meaningful and are engaging - you're not just flipping switches for no reason, but rather rebooting power plants, opening the emergency release in an airlock, etc, all the while using a gadget that kind of looks like a tablet on a miniature selfie stick to translate materials in the base and figure out what happened there. It's not exactly dialogue heavy, but the creepy atmosphere, solid visuals, and grounded puzzles make for a surprisingly engaging plot. For a VR game from a small studio, it's surprisingly long, too - not quite a full fledged game (by flat standards), but what's there is very high quality and it's much meatier than most other VR titles. In other news, I was worried I wouldn't even make it to 190 platinums this year, which is quite short of my goal of 200 total platinums / 57 platinums earned by the end of this year. But between Severed Steel being ready to pop as soon as the patch comes out and Qube 2 likely getting finished before the end of this year, I'll be quite a bit closer than I had allowed myself to hope. 3 hours ago, Raidou Kuzunoha XIV said: I don't usually bother to write about my thoughts on games I've played/platinumed super often, since - as you're about to find out - I tend to have a habit of infodumping my thoughts excessively with an annoying amount of run-on sentences once I begin typing. Then I end up having to write 2-3 posts in one and spending hours on them. I'm glad to hear you liked LIS3! I've had it in my Gamefly queue somewhere near the middle for... probably nearly a year now, so I'll have to bump it up a few spaces. Christ, that DLC sounds pitiful, though - even most VR games manage to do better than a single room. I might have to check out the other Code: Realize games; I remember playing the PS+ Vita one and thinking it was pretty cute.
PotrikBerger
Martha is Dead (PS5) Anticipation Heard about a psychological thriller coming to PS5 that was so controversial some scenes may be censored or removed following a long back and forth about it even coming to PS5 to start with. So yeah, I was pretty intrigued. 3/5 Enjoyment Sadly, literally zero enjoyment. Picked up on release and it took me the best part of a year to actually sit down and play this. Looks great....but that’s about all the positive I can find. I understand the devs intent to create a game with mental illness at its centre to shine a light on the subject. As someone who is very close to the aftermath of mental illness, suicide and how it impacts and devastates, I do think this misses its intended mark by a long long way. But this isn’t the main reason why I struggled with this game so much and I don’t want to dissect it from that angle. It has far more compounding flaws than that. I Found it unengaging, the story uninteresting, the gameplay to be laborious and repetitive and had no connection to the characters or environment. It was struggle to play this for more than 20mins at a time and that had nothing to do with the controversy surrounding this title. It’s just a bad game. - 1/5 Retrospect - The main controversy should be about just how tedious this title is - 1/5
Popular Post ukiukimidnite
#99 - Pretty Girls Breakers! Cheap, quick, easy and fun. This is like some of the games I used to play in school on those free game websites. I had some difficulty at first because I didn't realise you can hit the enemy missiles back - I thought I'd ended up with some kind of bullet hell game. But once I worked out you bat them back to destroy blocks (and some enemies) it all became a lot easier! I might play the PS4 version (included in the purchase) sometime in the future but I didn't really enjoy it enough to jump straight onto it. Also, my next platinum is the big #100 so I'd kinda like to have something a bit better for it!
Popular Post Charizarzar
#171 Bugsnax Bugsnax Master Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Initial impressions really proved me wrong with this one, especially with it being a bit of a meme game. Each delightful sound of "bunger bunger bunger" just brought me closer and closer to loving it. It's rare that I can finish a game and remember every character's name, especially one that isn't solely narrative, but I really loved all the various Grumpuses' personalities and hope they're all brought back for a new adventure. My favourite is probably Triffany cause of her adorable Minnesota accent. It's presented as kid friendly and that's true for the most part, but it also has some unironically disturbing parts and character development I wasn't expecting, on top of being comically self-aware of how nuts the story is and having some nice LGBT representation. The Bugsnax themselves are also plentiful and distinctive. It's not super challenging to figure out how to catch them, but does sometimes take some thinking, and I especially liked trying out different looks for the Grumpuses with the various snax you feed them. Negatives: Completing all the mail requests to fully furnish your hut felt kind of excessive It could be annoying when trying to catch the snax you need to set on fire to melt the ice, then quickly find a way to douse the flames and trip them up before they explode The fact that the stationary snakpods all need to be collected before the rest of them respawn - it just made the timed quests a bit annoying sometimes

Popular Post Thrillhelm
#2700 Crazy Chicken Shooter Bundle (PS4 version) Better known by the Moorhuhn name, this shooter series is best known in Germany (despite originally made by a Dutch company for a liquor brand) since 2000, and possibly one of the first computer games parents got more addicted to than their kids. 1999/2000 was a Moorhuhn Hype in Germany, and since then there have been tons of Moorhuhn games as well as clones. Here Moorhuhn and the Western-style version (both games can also be bought seperately, each with a platinum) in a bundle. Its a shooting gallery with some minor level interaction, but very little content - you basically have four maps and three modes, each round lasts for 90 seconds, let's go. Not the most complicated gameplay. Platinum is done between 2 or 3 hours, mostly because you have to shoot 6009 chicken which is a bit of a grind. Its still a fun game for what it is, even though the peak era of Moorhuhn is over. Crazy Chicken Xtreme is still the better Moorhuhn experience.

Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#633 - Alfred Hitchcock Vertigo (PS5) The story is pretty solid, but the game drags on a bit too long for what it is. Visually it's not the greatest and the sound mixing is all over the place during the second half of the game. The gameplay parts are fine, but also tedious with having to repeat each action a few times or only being able to carry one thing at a time. Enjoyment: 6.5 Diffiuculty: 2.5

Popular Post Boomshanks
( 83) PIXELJUNK MONSTERS 2 THE RAINBOW CONNECTION Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Of all the Pixeljunk games, Pixeljunk Monsters is probably my favorite. It’s a tower defense game in which you have to protect the tikis from waves of enemies with a large variety of towers which you build on top of the trees in the forest ?. Pixeljunk Monsters is the sequel and it follows pretty much the same formula. There are a total of 15 levels which can be played on three difficulty modes. The difficulty modes can have quite an impact though none of the levels are too difficult. I played through the entire game with a good friend , just as we had done with the previous game and it was a great experience. Not so great are the visuals. The first one had a beautiful and distinct art-style. Pixeljunk Monsters 2 looks like it was created by someone who is just starting out and it looks more like a PS2 game. How they managed to take such a step backwards after the beautiful first game I will never understand. The gameplay is still great though. So far, this is one of the only tower defense games I’ve played and I really like it. The towers are pretty varied and it’s fun to just mess around a bit and see which ones work best. The lightning tower is definitely overpowered though and a few of them in a level can pretty much wipe every wave. There are some towers which are completely useless and I was surprised to see how in a lot of the levels it’s better to just use the standard Trebuchet and Cannon towers instead of some of the newer towers. Towers like the Mana Tower and the Mortar are a fun idea but in practice they are completely useless. The biggest selling point for me was that this game has online co-op unlike its predecessor. And how is it?. Well… the online is just terrible – no two ways about it. There is no restart function (in a tower defense game) so if you screw up trying to go for the rainbows you have to go back to the level select screen and find each other again ⚰️. Selecting a level is also incredibly cumbersome as you can’t really see on which difficulties you already have the rainbows and sometimes it’ll just start the wrong level. If one player selects the top-down view while another is building a tower the game starts bugging out. It’s also very difficult to see which towers are already upgraded and which aren’t, which was a lot clearer in the first game. I could go on listing the different bugs but I think you get the idea. The online feels more like a beta that has yet to be fixed. How they thought this was ok is beyond me, especially with some basic functions missing. Oh well. We still managed to enjoy the game quite a lot and it was great fun going for the rainbows in each level and on every difficulty. If there is every a Pixeljunk Monsters 3 I’ll still buy it just to have more fun in a tower defense game with a good friend. Popular Post Vacio_Luna
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion My Living Legacy Never played the original psp game so I bought this on release. Voice acting was a bit weird sometimes but that didn't bother me, I overall really enjoyed this. Edited December 28, 2022 by Vacio_Luna

Popular Post sk_lp_him
#151 - Seasons after Fall Master of seasons Unlock all trophies for "Seasons after Fall". It wasn't high on my plus priority list but the soon to be removed notice bumped it up. Nice little game if a bit confusing without a map. I'm terrible at orientation so there were a few times where I didn't know where to go or if I've already been in that place.
