whodeygamer
#16: Moving Out Here’s an example of a game I never in a million years would’ve considered buying, but I got to play it and get the platinum thanks to PS Now. Heck, I hadn’t even heard of the game until the July lineup got leaked. Out of the games I’ve platinumed at this point, I’d say either this one or The Witness is my least favorite.
Popular Post ShonenCat
Platinum #85 - Gravity Rush Remastered (+100% ✅)Difficulty Rating 4/10 Enjoyment Rating 9/10 Uncommon - 21.32% This game is a unique action adventure platformer with tons of floaty and gravitational physics. Usually fetches for a high price these days for a physical copy, so the only way I was going to experience this one of a kind journey was through PS Now. A world beyond one’s imagination awaits those who have yet to fly into Gravity Rush for the first time. I felt lost and confused in this strange new world, just like Kat.. our rather cute and delightful klutz of a protagonist who suffers from amnesia ? Gravity Rush certainly provides its own flavor on what a platformer can really be. By soaring and fighting your way through impossible odds, you will help out the locals as a self proclaimed hero while trying to find ways to reclaim your lost past and memories that may even take you to the ends of the earth. Charming, imaginative and feel-good are the words I would use to describe this adventure from beginning to end. Some timed challenges can be rather difficult, but be sure to max out most of your abilities with gems before attempting the lot of them. I’m rather happy to know a sequel awaits me someday when I get around to it. Thank you for this wonderful experience, Japan Studio ❤️
Popular Post JoaLoft
#263 - A Plague Tale: Innocence (PS5) Realizing too late that there's an autopop feature for this game, I just played through it again, two years after I covered the PS4 version. And I have no regrets. A Plague Tale: Innocence revolves mainly around two noble French siblings: Amicia and Hugo de Rune. Running from the plague and bloodthirsty rats, they'll have to traverse dangerous areas and avoid English soldiers while diseased rodents are rampaging across the country. And then there's Hugo's mysterious "illness" which they'll need to address in due time... I'm reducing the plot synopsis mostly to a short summary, because A Plague Tale is an experience like no other that you need to discover for yourself. It certainly made a nice splash back in 2019 and has achieved cult status ever since. As it's technically a survival horror game, you'll need to sneak a lot. Most of the game consists of finding ways to avoid English soldiers and hordes of rats, while you're unraveling the mystery. There's some crafting and upgrading involved too, as Amicia uses a sling as her only weapon to throw rocks and all kinds of contraptions to light or douse fires, disarm enemies, and so on. The pacing however is really tight and it builds up nicely, giving you more and more abilities to help tilt dangerous situations in your favor. With one very cool mechanic coming into play at the end of the game, which I refuse to spoil. The PS5 version makes the game look even more beautiful than before, with the medieval city in Chapter IX in particular (my favorite chapter) looking absolutely stunning. However, the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers feel a bit light (particularly when throwing rocks or special ammunition), but do add to the immersion, so I'm glad they put the effort in. And the rats mechanics are still pretty impressive. I'm curious to see in which new ways they can push this mechanic with the upcoming sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem. Most frustrating trophy - ... NONE! This is an easy trophy list: complete the chapters, get some miscellaneous trophies, upgrade your gear and get all the collectibles. No difficulty-sensitive ones included, no New Game Plus. If you know where everything is located and craft intelligently, you'll be able to save the rarest materials for the most important upgrades and actually nail the platinum trophy in just one playthrough. On top of that, it's a really great game! Already looking forward to the sequel, which now has something to live up to.
Popular Post Arcesius
n++ The Pitch The "n" stands for "ninja"! The Best So, even though I didn't enjoy this game all that much, I still have to admit that it is full of good ideas. Forget about the gameplay, that will be covered in the next section (unfortunately), and let's talk about level design. This.. is oftentimes pretty good. The hazards / enemies are pretty cool, especially the so-called "clones", which are copies of the player that will perfectly follow the player character's movement / path with a delay of 2 seconds. If you touch any of your clones, you die. There are levels where these clones can be avoided without too much trouble, but there are also very cleverly designed levels where you will have to plan your movement in such a way that your clones will give you space to get past them, for example here: The clones are the half-transparent player silhouettes you see in the screenshot. Due to how this level is designed, you need to go around the ring 4 times... But right at the start of the level, you are forced to go through the pink rings in the bottom right, which are the ones that keep spawning clones. In order to beat this level, you need to carefully decide on a route you want to take, thinking about where your clones will land and how they will move when you are forced to go past them on your second, third and fourth round around the level. It's pretty clever, and I had a lot of fun deciphering these levels! The Worst The emphasis on momentum, and its consequences on the gameplay. Now, let me be straight here: I don't think this is a flaw, and I don't think it is bad design... at all. But I still have to mention this as "the worst", because to me personally this was the worst aspect of the game. The main problem is, since it is THE central gameplay aspect, it also resulted in me not enjoying the game as much. You see, the game wants to make you feel like a ninja. For that purpose, it needs to work with acceleration and perservation of momentum, as this way it allows you to really reach high up places and fly halfway through a large level. But.. what does this mean in practice? For starters, it means that movement is not instantaneous. When you press right / left from a standing position, the ninja will start accelerating... slowly... until it reaches its maximum speed. When you let go of the direction you are pressing, it will slowly decelerate until it stands still again. This means that, for example, it is quite difficult to quickly change directions due to the occurring inertia (for example to avoid an enemy or whatever). This happens both on the ground, but also in the air. And the latter scenario is the one that - in my opinion - makes the controls feel... floaty. Like, REALLY floaty. And sure, you get used to it eventually, but that doesn't make the gameplay more fun... Especially in the later, smaller levels filled with mines and enemies the game can become quite frustrating. In these levels, the feeling of playing a ninja completely disappears (since, you know.. you don't have the space to jump around like a madman), and precision is now required. But the preservation of momentum makes it oftentimes quite difficult to really make precise jumps This screenshot is not a very good example, since the level is quite easy to complete, but still, you see what I mean by narrow corridors, not much space, filled with hazards, etc... Oh and btw, if your fall height is too large, you die.. So for example in the screenshot above, you have to do wall-slides also on your way down a corridor, if the drop would be too high to survive. It's really difficult to tell in advance how large a fall you can survive.. I never quite managed to gauge the maximal height properly. There is another thing that bothered me. You have to finish levels in "groups of 5", called episodes. Now, you have 90 seconds time to complete an episode, and each piece of gold you get in a level adds 2 seconds to the timer. I'm.. not quite sure why this time-limit is necessary. It doesn't add anything to the game other than a bit more stress, and is - in my opinion - a completely unecessary feature. Lastly... the lenght of the game. Not in hours, but in number of levels. I don't know man, even if you like a game to death, I think 2000+ levels are a bit overkill. I didn't have to complete all of them for the plat ("only" 1'435), but man, half the number would have been more than enough already! The Challenge You know, having played some really challenging platformers, I thought "if this game just wants me to finish the levels, how bad can it be..?". The answer is: it can be pretty bad. There are no no-death runs, no "collect everything", no speedruns... Just play the game. But damn, that is by no means an easy task! The good thing is that the game really does a good job at easing the player into its more complex levels, where advanced techniques need to have been mastered. Initially it's all about learning how to use and maintain momentum, deal with enemies in isolation, etc... while towards the end you will additionally be navigating tight spaces filled with enemies and hazards: Damn, you just cannot land anywhere! This is one of the few games I know where just finishing the game is actually a real challenge. Some of the expert levels were no joke, with quite a few levels taking 100+ attempts. The most attempts I needed for one level were 203! Overall, given the lack of "additional challenges" required to get the platinum, getting the game to 100% is easier than some other platformers. But since the game itself is already quite challenging, it is no walk in the park, either! I'll leave two videos here with the 200 expert levels in case you are interested: n++ X-row Solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eqQo6EKFS4&t=2s n++ Legacy X-row Solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHBvEhpAzEg
Popular Post Cal
Platinum 54 Prey I love Prey I think this game is extremely underrated, this game is like Bioshock and System Shock 2 had a baby. The trophies for this game are also pretty fun but there are two trophies that can be a little tedious and glitchy, one is where you have to kill all humans on Talos 1 and you have to be the one to deal the death blow if a Typhon or a environmental thing like fire kills them it won't count and you will have to load up a save file. I unfortunately ran into a problem on this run two mind controlled humans had walked right into a fire and killed themselves, and no matter what I did or how fast I was to get there to land the killing blow on them they were already dead, so I had to restart a whole new campaign which was very annoying. Another trophy is where you have to find all Transtar employees and there's a total of 266 I think, but depending on your play style you don't have to find all of them which is a good thing. I loved the No Needles run this is a trophy where you have to play the game without human or typhon abilities, it definitely made me approach situations differently and I had to think outside the box though some parts did get annoying however, getting out of the reactor was a pain, I had two Telepaths with turrets shooting at me as I'm trying to get back up to the door. The loading times in this game were pretty annoying too you have to do a bunch of back tracking to certain areas, I think Prey would definitely benefit from a PS5 upgrade since we have seen how fast games load on that system but since Microsoft now own them I have no idea if that will happen, I can only hope. Despite some problems with my run on the game I still think its great and you should play it if you haven't it starts off a bit slow but picks up quick, looking forward to Deathloop!
Popular Post Sylvanticore
#42: Platinum GAL Get all other trophies. Well... I'm actualll disapointed in myself with this one, I didn't actually know this game was going to be a Ratalaika Games developed game and thought it looked like a cool MegaMan type game (which in fairness what I played so far it it a cool little MegaMan game) and expected more trophies than what I got as I was looking at the trophy guide which I didn't realise was for the Vita version and not the PS4 version which has less trophies... oh well.. easy platinum I guess.
Popular Post groomyboy
KIWAMIObtained all trophies Yakuza Kiwami (PS4) - Achievers at time of plat: 3,687 // Rarity: 3.07% Had this in my library for so long and finally got round to getting the platinum! The first time I have ever played a game in the Yakuza series and was thoroughly entertained. Lots of fun with the heat moves in combat, as well as the minigames, such as learning Mahjong, claw machine and Mesuking Huge shoutout to the trophy guide writer as well, especially for the perfectionist trophy. Was also fortunate in getting through the notoriously difficult legend car chase on just my 4th run, which saved a whole lot of frustration. The rest of legend difficulty is a cakewalk provided you have the most OP equipment setups.

Popular Post Gommes_
#133 + 100% Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Prizes, Plunder, and Adventure! It is actually not that easy to assess Assassin's Creed Black Flag. In general I had a really good time with it but there were also many aspects which made the game so frustrating and annoying. Let’s start with the good: The initial presentation of the game is fantastic! It starts with the great menu, the menu sounds and the music. Furthermore, the Caribbean atmosphere was amazing right off the start. Ubisoft does everything to fully convince the player that he/she actually takes part of this journey by showing you the greatest landscapes, your first whale in the ocean (yay) and giving you control over a ship pretty early on. Players will spend most of the time on the Jackdaw (the name of your ship) and that is the heart of AC Black Flag. Capturing other ships and upgrading the Jackdaw is just a blast. This process alone combined with exploring dozens of islands (and their villages) make Black Flag a phenomenal game and that is probably a stand out point for this entry of that franchise. Man, this game put me such in a good mood when I did all of the aforementioned things. BUT it also made me really mad when progressing through the story! Because then it is revealed how broken the controls are and how crappy that mission design is. Many, many times you can’t complete some objectives because Kenway jumps over things where he supposed to climb or climbs where he is supposed to jump. This gets so annoying when you also have to navigate him through narrow environments. In these moments it seems like that the whole game just gives up and pressing buttons always has the opposite effect of what you actually wanted to do. On top of that the game is totally inconsistent with its own mechanics. There are plenty of situations where things are implemented which were never a thing before. As an example I wanna point out the last mission of the DLC. There you have to counter an enemy to steal his weapon. To do so you can only attack him with your bare fists. So far so good. Pretty much right at the beginning that enemy is fleeing but he is doing that right towards you. So, when you think “hey let me punch him right here, so the battle with him also takes place in that location and he stops fleeing” you kill him with a single button press! Never before a single punch (which is not even animated) killed an enemy. So what happened there? Why was that mission and that collision detection programmed that way and why was it like that after 50 hours of play time for the first time? In one my last status updates I raised the question on how AC reached that status of being such a beloved franchise if the controls are that broken (heck part 3 was even worse and it ruined the whole game for me). I think I know the answer to this now. The “average” player will never encounter these problems, cause you can complete all missions by just running through the game most of the time. Only going for the 100% will shine light on these flaws. So, the majority of players is probably unaware of all of these issues. Not aiming for the 100% makes AC a super easy and laid back game with different settings many probably enjoy. So in general I would highly recommend Black Flag when not going for the platinum and only recommend it for others with these aspects in mind focusing on the great stuff the game has to offer. And there are plenty of it. Edited July 11, 2021 by Gommes_
Popular Post Viper
#238 Bugsnax (PS5) Bugsnax Master Not even sure what to say about this one. I don't think I loved this as much as a lot of people seem to. I mean it's presented as this kiddie game, with bright colors and jovial characters. But has a rather dark undertone to it's story...which is great. But I feel like the story is what saved this from being a dumpster fire. The graphics are lackluster and the gameplay can get annoying at times because it feels super dated. This definitely feels like an indie game made for PS4 and we just so happened to get the PS5 version, which just doesn't play like something that belongs on PS5. Overall, it was alright...but this "must play" people keep touting? I don't know about that. Platinums 236 and 237 were Auto-Pops of Avengers and No Man's Sky on PS5. But I'm not going to really count those as accomplishments. Edited July 9, 2021 by Viper

Popular Post MissShake
#64: Kingdom Hearts III KINGDOM HEARTS III Complete Master Unlock all other trophies. Now. I grew up with Kingdom Hearts. My first RPG was the first game back on the PS2, so I can definitely say that the series has a special place in my heart (heh). However, I have grown to have much more complicated feelings about the series. KH is fun to play, that's for sure. But I feel that the story is absolutely terrible, which is personally the reason that I play RPGs. KHIII had some moments that did get my attention and make me feel something, but I was pretty disappointed by it as a whole. This is why it took me so long to finish this plat: by the time I got to the end of the story I was pretty bored of the game. I'm glad I took the break, because funny enough I actually enjoyed grinding out the last few trophies for this one. Maybe that just proves my point: when the story isn't part of the picture and I'm totally focused on the gameplay, I'm having fun.
Popular Post Darghel
#110 Threads of Fate Bind Us Together (Arcana Heart 3) Difficulty: Besides the incredibly online grind, it has some tough fighting trophies Time to Complete: At least 20 or 30 hours considering the online grind. The rest can be easy or hard depending on skills Recommended: No! Total Score: 8/10 First and foremost, a big shout out to my boosting group: @Armageddon-_11 and his trick to make the fights go quicker with Kamui self-damage ability (seriously you save us a lot of time dude! You rock!) @Chronos_Dumah , friendly and very patient player, definitely was a delight working with you (don't worry, I'll help you finish! I'm not leaving you behind!) @HateClash and also a cool guy but we always miss each other in our boosting times, and still haven't finished because of that (but don't worry I'm with you until the end!) With that said, I'm finally over with this game: almost 10 years to get this done, and frankly, it wouldn't be so difficult if it wasn't for the online. I started the online grinding group in late may and two of us, me and Armageddon, are the ones who are finished first, with Chronos soon finishing his (hopefully tomorrow) and HateClash being the last one due to his timezone being a pain for me and Armageddon (Me and him are GMT+1, meanwhile Chronos and Clash are similar). TL;DR the online grind wasn't fun, at all: some of us got really burnt out, we took several breaks (me included) and once the level 10 grind was over it was turn for the level 3 grind with all girls, which is faster but still takes 5 battles for each girl, and there are 23 girls (22 if you exclude the level 10 one). That's still over 110 battles to do, without counting the many battles we did for the level 10 grind (I think I was at around 600+ battles!) Anyway, sorry for the long online rant, but that's because it's the only big issue with this game: the rest of the trophies are actually fairly decent, some definitely harder than others (Screw you Lilica and your Trophy!), and some definitely easier, especially since you can do in versus. It's a mixed bag and honestly, I can only say that the online trophies were the worst ones, and because of those alone, I would highly recommend skipping it because it's a painful grind (even when I played it when it was new the online was basically barren). Still, I'm glad I finished this: this was one of those first games I tried to do trophy hunting for real, way before I became a trophy hunter, but the online held me back until now. And thanks to my boosting group to stick until now - and once again don't worry folks, I'm helping you finish! I'm not leaving until you're all done! Edit: as of 16/06/21, the group is finally finished and we all got our online trophies: hooray! Popular Post EverythingOnFire
#26 PS3 version. Got the Plat on PS4 back in 2014. Can't believe it was that long ago! The PS4 honestly doesn't feel that old (nor do I). Time flies! Great game, if a bit bloated. There is just so much to do, and it gets overwhelming at times. The Shanath Arena was probably my favorite part this time around. The shittiest pistol, an RPG, flameflower; doesn't matter what you use, it's good frantic fun. Least favorite part were the NPC's. Most were more annoying than I remember (I've probably just grown more cynical). Constantly whining and/or bossing you around. After a while you feel like nothing more than a hired gun. It was a lot more personal and vengeful in Far Cry 3, which I liked more. PS - Longinus is awesome. Wish he'd been in more of it. I would love to play a game with him as the protagonist, quoting scripture as he guns down sinners.

Popular Post SoapMacTavish222
#396 Destiny 2 on PS4 So after years of people telling me I needed to play Destiny, I finally broke down and started it a few months ago. I didn't realize how much this game would consume me ?. It is definitely one of the harder platinums I have obtained. A good 90% of the trophies are very straight forward, mostly just a grind. But Nightfall on Grandmaster is just insane. I have been told there are much easier missions to do for it but I am stubborn and wanted to do the current weeks nightfall which is apparently one of the hardest ones. The only thing I have to say about this game aside from it being fun is make sure you're ok with it taking up A LOT of your free time.
