Popular Post Zach
#188 Erica (NA) Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 2/10 Time: 9hrs I did not expect to enjoy Erica as much as I did. At first, I was not a big fan of all the controls of the game being designated to the touchpad of the controller. However, after getting used to the controls, I was able to fully enjoy the story. I love how the game leaves a lot of things unexplained. That usually annoys me, but it works really well with this game. It allows you to make a bunch of your own theories in your head. I liked this game a lot better than Late Shift. Edited July 15, 2021 by Zach
Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum #627:Difficulty: 4/10Playtime: 25-30 hours Right, so... having very much enjoyed my first foray into the endorphins-a-gogo bullets 'n' spillits aesthetics of the venerable Cratchit and Lank by way of the PS4 remake/reimagining, I more or less had to play the original games down the line! I still have no recollection of ever having bought them, but there they were... shong lory stort, relatively soon the day came when the space in my backlog was ripe for something in that vein... welp, making plans and designs for games you haven't actually played isn't inherently a good idea, as I shall presently venture forth to elucidate upon your personage. Preclusion! Confluence!! Sepulchritudinous!!! Wooooooooords!!!! Ahem. I'll not bash around the shrubbery: No, sir, I don't like it. Matter of fact, it's been a long time since I played something that so consistently sabotaged its own potential through such a distinctly blundering flustercuck of poor design choices--almost impressive is the sheer scope of ineptitude on offer--that I would not only have disliked way back in 2002, but have also aged about as well as a carton of milk from them days. Listing them all is a fool's errand, but viddy well the most egregious ones: The gunplay is clumsy and meandering, and a majority of the weapons verge on useless anyway; the constant dodging required leaves you scant little room to actually fight back; less-than-perfect platforming is combined with an almost fetishistic focus on bottomless pits; what passes for lighting ensures navigating the awkwardly laid-out worlds without constantly consulting your map is a no-go; where checkpoints are concerned, the game is stingier than Ebenezer Scrooge supervising an East End bread line; and the story is a clunky and scattershot mess that actively made me dislike the characters. If the gameplay isn't broken in the enemies' favour... it's in yours, ensuring the level of challenge never feels satisfying. Everything I hate about the "experimental" early 2000s phase of mascot platforming is here, like pearls of euphemisms on a string made from nerve endings. The wholly unnecessary bolt grinding trophy is the spoiled cherry atop this cake that is the most mendacious of lies. But, as an irrelevant aside, as much as I disliked the game, I also have nothing but rampant hatred for the stupid EEDIOT guide writer who gave this game a 2/10 difficulty rating and flatly shot down any and all criticisms of the subjective liberties they took with something that should be viewed with as much objectivity as possible. 15 hours? Maybe if you're a speedrunner who can glitch through everything. I hate you, random person, and may all your children be born with popsicle sticks for teeth. Sure, you might argue that simply levying a measured and cogent criticism might be a more productive avenue to pursue, but do I sound like I'm in the mood for that stuff, man?!? Ahem. Suffice to say, my few moments of joy were fleeting, and far between. The timestamps tell the story: it's one of those rare games that actually managed to demotivate me from playing it again for a solid month; that's a Deadly Sin right there. Now, I rarely enjoy producing negative rants like this, and I suspect you, my dear reader, enjoy reading them even less, so this is about it for my rad manting. These copious misgivings, gripes, and crimatisms are all the more frustrating, considering the basic formula is more than sound; the PS4 game is everything this game should have been and more. Luckily, it ultimately wouldn't take two console generations for Insomniac to mitigate these teething problems and manage to shift the momentum of the series into a kind of a reverse Godfather trilogy trajectory! To be continued... So, uhh, what I'm tryin' to say is... looking forward to stacking it on the Vita and all that, I guess! Though, you can bet I'll be getting that RYNO as fast as possible, for reasons wholly unrelated to cheesing a broken game... and no, I didn't originally write this overblown and pointless exercise in gently hyperbolic disappointment weeks ago and have only now calmed myself enough to be able to write something a bit more fair, when it's too late... so quit askin'!Final Rating: 5.5/10 Edited July 15, 2021 by AK-1138 Forgot to link to the timestimps--stamps! Popular Post SirWaWa
Tales of Zestiria Wow, what can I say?! I can't believe I finally got this one! This was one of my many white whales I'd thought I never get. After watching some of the Tales Zestiria X anime I got motivated to see this through to the very end after putting it away once I got to the end the first time. While it's true, it's not THAT hard of a plat I did find it very time consuming and super grindy, while I was not in a rush to play anything else I decided to make the most of it and prepare, if not over prepare my party for what's to come. I basically brute forced my way through the difficulty trophies by herb farming and equipment fusing. I basically had little to no op skill gear (I tried farming it but gave up) so stat building was the next option and have I to say, it worked! After many hours I finally understood how the fusing system works, minus predicting what skill is generated next when you fuse 2 skills together. It's powerful and exploitable if you get the correct drops which is manipulate-able to a degree with Normin and the correct level enemy. I exploited the shop talent to get the items I wanted for fusing but not for skills. All said and done at level 160 with 207+ hours on the first single playthrough and less than 2 hours on the second playthrough for that last trophy. Longest plat to date for me but not the hardest and actually aside from sweet 16 not all that stressful. Props to everyone else that did this and did it better/faster! Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #155 - Death End re;Quest (NA) 20.86% Rarity Difficulty - 3/10, Time Spent - ~35 Hours, Enjoyment 5/10 Don't really have a lot to say about this game. The character models were pretty good, and the story was alright once you got about halfway through the game. However, the beginning seriously dragged and was too much like a visual novel with intermittent RPG elements for my tastes. The did try to do some interesting things with the battles, like being able to switch gaming genres mid-battle or summon defeated bosses to fight on your side. But it just felt a little bland overall.
Popular Post The Arizona Ranger
Sunk just over two hours into the following game in-between my many hours spent on Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade over this past weekend (currently on Chapter 17 working my way through the Drum deep within the Shinra building dealing with Hojo's "tests"). Platinum #13: Legends of Talia: Arcadia (PS5) The Hero of Talia (98.82%) First Trophy: Painful Memories (Silver) - July 10th, 2021 (11:07:28 AM) Last Trophy (which popped the Platinum): Sudden Kiss (Gold) - July 10th, 2021 (1:14:36 PM) Gap (First to Last Trophy): 2 Hours, 7 Minutes, 8 Seconds Game Review Legends of Talia: Arcadia - 1.0/10 (judged strictly as a game), 4.5/10 (when judged by a shameless weeb) As with the Sakura Succubus games, this is just a simple visual novel infused with some ecchi content (nowhere near as much as the three Sakura Succubus games had, unfortunately). You follow the legendary hero Arcadia as she travels across the land of Talia, haunted by the memories of a terrible event that took place years ago and those memories keep resurfacing in the back of her mind. In her adventures, she encounters a girl caught in the grasp of a Mandrake, thus setting off a chain of events that leads to crossing paths with someone she never would have expected to see and facing off with a old foe, the one responsible for the painful memories Arcadia deals with from time to time. I won't get into too many details (as to not spoil the game for anyone if they decide to spend the $3.00 to purchase it), but just know that this is not a very long game (if I plowed through all of the scenes/text by rapidly tapping the X button, I could have gotten the platinum for this game in just a few minutes). However, I set the text speed to slow, put it into Auto Read (pressing the Square button), and let the game play itself while I read along. I would have reached the end of the game in about 90 minutes, but I had to go help my parents move some stuff in the garage, so I let the game sit paused for around 25 minutes while I was gone, hence why it "took" me just over two full hours to finish the game. The reason I gave the game such a low score is that there is no difficultly in this game. In the Sakura Succubus games, the three games would give you various decisions (how to respond to a character, what you would do next, picking one of several options, etc) to make at certain points of the story that have a minor influence on how each game progresses. However, for Legends of Talia: Arcadia, there is no such option. You basically just read the text, take a gander at the various artwork, and press X to advance the text. Platinum Difficulty: 0/10 There is absolutely no challenge to be had here. It's just a visual novel that you read the text in, check out the artwork that pops up, and press X to advance the text. If you really wanted to, you could just mash the X button for several minutes and reach the end of the novel in order to pop the platinum for it, but where is the fun in that? Considering that you pay $2.99 for the game, at least make the effort like I did to read it so you at least have a basic understanding of what is going on by the time you pop the platinum and uninstall the game from your Playstation 5. Was It Fun?: Not Really (see below): The only good thing about this game is the artwork. While nothing special, at least it is somewhat enjoyable to look at. The characters you interact with in the game are nothing special (Arcadia is decent, the other girls are ok). I definitely enjoyed this game quite a bit less than the three Sakura Succubus games I played earlier this month, the major reason why I gave the game such a low overall score (1.0/10) and the score I would give the artwork (4.5/10) as a shameless weeb. I think the game would have been more enjoyable if there was choices for you to make (see the Sakura Succubus games) that have minor impacts on the story, if there were more lovely ladies to interact with (outside of Arcadia, there are just two other ladies you spend time with during your time with the novel), or there was some more....erm, revealing artwork like I experienced in each of the three Sakura Succubus games. Would You Recommend It to Others?: For the most part, no (see below): As with what I said in my three reviews for the Sakura Succubus games, unless you are interested in a visual novel that has some ecchi content infused into it or are looking to pick up really easy Silver & Gold trophies (no Bronze trophies in this game), I wouldn't really recommend this game to anyone. Will You 100% The Game? Already did, chief. This game is now the 11th game that I have achieve the fabled "100% Completion" in. Popular Post Conor
#105- SPIDER-MAN REMASTERED [PS5] Be Greater Collect all Trophies Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 1/10 Time: 1 Day, 19 Hours, 23 Minutes Rarity: 15.8% Rare (PSN) / 66.89% Common (PSNProfiles) "Love seeing you two together again! You always were my favourites..." The 2018 Spider-Man game was easily one of the PS4's best exclusives as well as one of the best superhero games ever made. The PS5 remaster gives everything a lick of fresh new paint with support for 60fps gameplay as well as ray tracing which can be combined into a Performance RT mode which is what I played this on. You can also opt for a4K 30fps Fidelity mode with the full benefits of ray tracing or a straight Performance mode with 60fps, no ray tracing but a higher resolution ceiling than Performance RT. Even with the more limited ray tracing in Performance RT, the game looks absolutely incredible, a real step up from the last gen version which already looked awesome in its own right. It is exciting to see what comes next if this is how PlayStation 5 started off this generation with, that is for sure. As for the game itself, the story and gameplay are unchanged though there is option for 3D audio and haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the controller; not the deepest usage of these features but a nice little bonus. The combat is fun and frantic as always; many say it is pulled from the Batman: Arkham series but the "Freeflow" combat from that series was hugely influenced by the combat in the Spider-Man 2 game on PS2/ Xbox so it has come full circle. There are also times where you can be stealthy and pick off enemies from on high, suit upgrades with their own special abilities and, of course, the traversal, which is as exhilarating as ever. Sure, the stealth sections as MJ and Miles are a bit naff and break the flow a bit, but they don't last long and are only a small percentage of the game. Another amazing feature of this version is the near non-existent load times; you basically load into the city from the main menu in 2 seconds and fast travel is nearly instantaneous (although you can opt to switch on the little subway cutscenes if you wish). The SSD really seems like a revolution for console gaming. Because I already had the 100% in the PS4 version, I opted to auto-pop the rest of the trophies once I had completed the main story, so everything else popped instantly once I had transferred my save including the DLC, NG+ and new trophies for which I had already completed the requirements in the PS4 game. I know some people take issue with this but honestly I couldn't care less about what others think; I put in the work already so these trophies were already earned. Meant I could move onto other things. However, if I ever choose to replay this game and I feel that one day I will, this will be the version I go for.... that is, until the release of the Super-Ultra-Mega Edition on PlayStation 6!
Popular Post cr1s
#560 - Tekken 6 Tekken Fanatic Complete all other objectives. Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 5.5/10 That platinum description doesn't apply to me because I personally wasn't a fan of Scenario Campaign (especially with its awkward camera and wonky controls) and don't like the Tekken series that much when it comes to fighting games. However, I think it's some good fun when it doesn't turn into a subpar beat 'em up (i.e. Arcade, Survival, etc). As far as trophies go, it's a fairly easy platinum. There are a few online trophies but thankfully, the online multiplayer is still active enough to go for them without boosting. You only need to win once in Player and Ranked, whereas the rest of the online trophies merely involve playing 3, 10, and 30 matches. As for the rest of the trophy list, it's mostly centered on Scenario Mode given that's the biggest focus of the game. I found the hardest trophy to be the one for completing the Nightmare Train level, but there's a great way to cheese it that makes it a lot easier. Despite my mixed opinions on the game, I'm glad to add another fighting game platinum to my collection. That said, it's time to go back to a better game in the genre, such as... But the longest I spent on one stage in 3 was like an hour. And I spent seven hours on The High Road. I think the first one just compliments my playstyle more. Popular Post slender_adrian
#71 Difficulty: 5/10 Enjoyment: 10/10 Rarity: 8.65% Very Rare Time: 137 Hours "Big Boss can go to hell..." From the Man Who Sold the World, This game is incredible, I was amaze the first time I saw the trailer and the first the time I played it, that lighting effects are absurdly amazing, the gameplay is amazing tons of ways to do a single mission, the story is great, when I play other MGS I think I'm watching a movie but playing this I felt I was in a TV show haha I love Kojima, basically this game is amazing, the only stuff that I didn't like is the "mobile game" vibe it has and having separate inventories for being online or offline. As for the main story, It's probably the most "obscure" of the series, it's awesome but it felt really short, the characters are amazing, everyone fighting their own demons, I love it, the buddies are so great that it actually made me want to use them, not like in other games where using companions makes everything harder or annoying, for example, if you want a more sneaky approach on the enemy using DD makes everything easier, (man that "dog" is overpowered haha) or if you want to take down everyone without firing your gun use Quiet (my favorite character in the game with Kaz). Total freedom and tons of fun! To conclude, this is an amazing game, totally worth playing but If you haven't played any other MGS games before I don't recomend starting with this game. Spoiler To make this quick, at the end of the game when I realized that I was the clone of Big Boss I wasn't that surprised, just by playing other game you know something fishy is going one, but honestly I didn't expected I was using THE CLONE (if you played previous games you'll know what I mean), but what this "twist" did well was making me hate Big Boss for abandoning poor Kaz and I stopped caring about the Phantom of Big Boss, don't get me wrong I love those characters, it just make me change the way I saw them. The Trophy Hunt Well, to my surprise this is a simple and easy plat, all you have to do is play the game for +100 hours haha, no but seriously this is a easy plat, it requires time but there's nothing "skill" based, at some point the game becomes repetitive specially going for Executed trophy, which was the most tedious to get for me, just beacuse doing some tasks takes so long, I was fine doing the tasks for the first 30 main missions but after that was so boring doing the rest. Also there are 157 side missions that are amazing, they are practically the same but who cares, I did those while waiting for resources to get processed (Deterrence & Architect). At some point I was just waiting for trophies to pop without doing anything, getting S ranks is a walk in the park, and the rest of the trophies are very straight foward. Thankfully I didn't get any trophy glitched, because I heard there where some, and I didn't want to start all over again. I enjoyed everything this game offers, this is a plat totally worth getting it if you got the time! I don't know if this is true or it's because I played Crash 1 beforehand that I flew through this game. I did get less platinum relics on the time trials compared to Crash 1 but for the most part I didn't have too much issue. Only levels I replayed a lot were the ones you run towards the screen from something or the ones where you ride the little bear. Just holding down all the time running towards the screen felt uncomfortable on the PS4 controller and my thumb would often slip off, or I'd run in to something trying to readjust my thumb.
