Popular Post starcrunch061
Plat #408: Legend of the Tetrarchs Perfect Completion Obtained all trophies I don't usually mention the Kemco plats that I get here, because who cares? But this one gets its own special treatment. Where do I start? Legend of the Tetrarchs is a Hit-Point-developed Kemco RPG, which means that it has its own unique ideas, but they're so half-baked that no one cares. The localization of this game is one of the worst I've ever seen. I don't know why the translators are in love with the words "gonna" and "wanna", but it reads ridiculously when the king says, "Are you gonna save my daughter?" Instead of saying, "But why?", people generally say, "How come?" which sounds hilarious when an enemy gets blasted by a giant laser from his supposed friend. One of my favorite lines was from the guy in red displayed here: "But you're never always saying that!" And yeah - that's kind of what he means to say. Not so elegant. I was stunned that the game had such a high plat percentage. Battles are quire strategic, and a single mistake can often lead to a disastrous outcome. The AI cheats like hell: if the enemy hits you with a "silence" attack before you cast a spell, your spell just burns out, and you lose your turn. But, if you hit the AI with "silence" before it attacks, it will just change to a standard melee. Yeah, that's fair! I couldn't believe that people were beating the final boss and whatnot so easily, with no online strategies to speak of. I mean, I knew what party members I wanted, but I still had to think through every turn, and even then, I got pretty lucky when I finally beat the (first) final boss... ... ...and then I realized exactly why this game was so easy. While fighting a long-winded enemy, I put the game on auto-battle. And it turns out, the AI always, ALWAYS does the right thing! Remember when I mentioned the cheating with the "silence" attack above? Well, it turns out that if the AI is fighting for you, it will cheat for you as well. One of my characters was scheduled to attack with a spell, but got silenced. She then attacked with a melee attack. Thus, as long as you know what abilities you would like to bring into a battle, the AI will set it up in the best possible way. I probably could have cut 5 hours off of the plat time (which is only 20 hours total) had I known this. Oh well - it was a pretty fun game, but the wordy cut scenes, compounded by the awful translation, makes it one of the lesser Kemco RPGs I've played.

Popular Post Sardavanua
#167 - Demon's Souls (AS) This is the third time I took a journey to Boletaria and all it's brutal and unforgiving locations and again I absolutely enjoyed the hell out of this game. This time I really got lucky on the Pure Bladestone, only took me about 40 minutes to farm. Wasted alot of time in 5-2 on the other hand... It's by far the worst swamp area in all Soulsborne games imo. I'm really glad I got all three platinum stacks, now I feel prepared for Demon's Souls Remastered on PS5. Can't wait for it! Difficulty Platinum: 5/10 (depends on how familiar you are with the tendency system) Enjoyment: 9/10 Time spent: 16 hours and 7 minutes
Popular Post RedRodriguez87
#317: Father and Son After alot of off and on, I finally finished this game! It's a load off of my mind. Very little I can say that people don't already know, so I'll just throw it all out there as I'm thinking of it. GOTY, a masterpiece, a great direction for the series to go, seems like the majority have no problem singing its praises. And yet, I came away from it underwhelmed. I've said it numerous times, and it's still true to me; this game is just way too slow. Starting off, it's understandable, even negating the fact that this series has had a tradition on starting off with a bang. I mean, it isn't long until you hit the first fight with the stranger, where the game kicks it up 10 notches in true GoW fashion. But then the pace grinds to a halt again, and we are left running around encountering tutorial after tutorial, fighting the same minibosses over and over with a new boss sprinkled in here and there. Thankfully, it picks up at chapter 10, and for the most part keeps a more brisk pace. But then comes the open-world exploration, and a few fun quests aside, it goes right back to being slow and almost-monotonous. I can't even say the extra dungeons do anything to really inject a sense of action and excitement. The combat, while serviceable, is greatly hindered by the camera being permanently fixated to your back. It's a shame to go from a series that managed to almost perfectly keep a balance of having a hoard of enemies on screen while still always making sure you were able to see all of them, to constantly having to rely on a quick turn button and compass to avoid attacks you can't see (Atreus' addition makes up for this somewhat, as he serves to help and never hinder , the best route they could have gone with this character). The game also goes the stat-based route of player growth, with the overabundance of armor, stat perks, skills, enhancements; so many numbers you have to keep up with, and it just gets so tedious to have to deal with. It's the same reason Darksiders 2 turned me off. But hey, that's not what the masses praise, and dang it, what they praise are the exact same things I praise. First off, I love this kind of story; the protagonist sets out to do something mundane, personal, humble, down to earth, but end up changing the world in the process. I can't recall any instance of this story type where I didn't love it, at least in concept, and that's the same here. I liked the new characters, including our boy of war Atreus, who always provided an interesting contrast to our main Kratos; in fact, I daresay he was more interesting. Sure he has some brattish tendencies, but seeing as he's dealing with a secretive stick-in-the-mud father, I can't recall many instances where I DIDN'T feel he was justified in being so. I loved Kratos' development in this game; I won't go back on this either, I support this direction over the constant growling remorseless killer he turned into before. The environments, while boring to explore, are still gorgeous and fun to look at. And when the game goes back to it's over-the-top crazy action, it always makes up for the slodge you took to get there. Even fighting the main boss three times never once negated this fact, because it was always on like donkey kong when he appeared. I still wonder if they couldn't have made all these new addition works with the old game system, at least in terms of combat. Was there no way to have open-world exploration and storytelling while maybe going back to the old style of combat, even including cooldown attacks, Atreus's combat, and even more defensive style of play? I dunno. That being said, I didn't hate this game, and I am glad that I 100% it, but I don't ever see myself going back to it like the others. I do hope this next installment is faster-paced, a tad more streamlined.

Popular Post Infected Elite
#110 - Director of the FBC Overall i give the game an 8.5 out of 10. Some difficulty spikes in the beginning and near the end but it was an enjoyable experience. I did everything possible for every trophy before i went and completed mission 9 and 10. The only pain was grinding skills as i had to find hidden areas that honestly weren't very hidden haha. But great game. Highly recommend it.
Popular Post RadiantFlamberge
#9 Crysis Remastered Platinum Trophy Earn all available trophies for Crysis® PS4 can run Crysis fairly well... just play in Performance mode, even if you use a Pro. This is a good port of the game, though missing the Ascension level (an unfavorable change IMO... because I like it in the PC original version. Ascension is VTOL jet combat.). Unfortunately, it did crash a bit too often in the last two missions. Sometimes it would show an error message, while other times the game would just freeze and I'd have to hold the PS button to close the application. Surely they can work on stability.

Popular Post FinalFan
#101 Streets of Rage 4 (one month ago, but got lazy and trying too hard with Fall Guys ?) First thing to know, the game received an important update recently, so a few things I'll say may be outdated. ? I was waiting for this game since its unexpected announcement. As an old guy, I enjoyed Streets of Rage series on Megadrive a lot back then when I was a teenager. I purchased Streets 3 with my console and maybe because of that, it was my favorite entry of the trilogy. The characters could run in this one! I was also very excited because this new Streets is a ?? game, and like Plague Tale, I can say for sure this one is a national treasure too! The studios that worked on this sequel did a good job to stay faithful to the feeling of the saga, including gameplay. And cherry on the top, you can even play with the 16bit versions of the characters! ? The game (12 levels) can be cleared in ~90 minutes, but have some replay value due to the various characters and some challenges to grab the ! On first try, even on normal, the game can be challenging when you have to learn the hard way. Also, I made the huge mistake to start with my fave char. Axel. He sucked so much, too slow, this was very annoying against some bosses you have trouble to reach! But it got way better on my second playthrough with Blaze, she's very useful, you can combo easily with her! While Cherry could run, I didn't have any fun to play with her (too close to Skate, probably), and Floyd is kinda interesting despite being the slowest (but most powerful) fighter of the cast. Some new enemies are nice pick too, thinking about those cops (those with laser shields can also be annoying, but the worst are obviously those with tasers!) and bikers girls with helmet. Classical enemies were back too, no worries. And Galsia with a knife is always scary, but the mess inside the dojo was such a wicked idea! ? But after handling those rooms, you're relieved you made it through. Oh, and like everyone who played this game: Estel is awesome! Regarding trophies, the main hurdle to complete the set is the one where you need a S score in every level on hard difficulty (or more). You need to be fast (and furious), level knowledge is mandatory, where the enemies will spawn, to do your best, while trying to not waste your combo! One very frustrating thing the team forgot is that in older games you could counter back instantly when someone is hitting or grabbing your character. Imho (already talked about it on the dedicated topic) the best characters to do this are Shiva, Blaze and Adam (both SoR & SoR4 ver.) Another trophy that is stupid but can hopefully be done in coop with a friend is the perfect (no damage) level. ? Finally, you also have a very grindy asking 5 millions points (it's huge) but when you know how to deal to grab bonus points (like using various characters on different difficulty levels), it's possible to earn some time.
Popular Post madbuk
#389 - Pic-a-Pix Classic This was much harder than I was originally anticipating it to be. I play picross on mobile quite a bit, but I've never gotten as consistently stuck as I was in this one. Honestly I don't think these puzzles were very fun - so many of them were just filled with 1 block long lines, so you had entire rows of 1s and 2s (but not enough to be certain where they're placed.) Usually in picross you at least get some kind of large starting point, like a 10 row, or a 7 8 row, etc. Not in this one though. And even once you've found the start, you eventually just get swamped by 1s again and have to spend forever finding a next move. It's just tedious. None of the puzzles were as lengthy as the ones in Block-a-Pix, the larger ones ranged from about 30-50 minutes here instead of 1h+, but in Block-a-Pix at least I felt like I was making some progress. I still have Classic 2, Colors 2 and Pieces 2 to do, and this has kind of put me off Classic 2... I trust Color/Pieces to be fun though, because the puzzles in those are generally pretty enjoyable.

Popular Post hittheroadbucky
Platinum #50: Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Difficulty: 6/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 I knew I wanted a game I enjoyed to be my milestone 50th plat and originally i was thinking Kingdom Hearts 3 because it’s doable and from a franchise I like. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted something a bit better. So I decided to dust off my old KH1 save file and start working on that. I’d already played through the game once and completed most things. I just had a few more heartless to kill and to synthesise everything. That ended up turning into a 20 hour grind for materials. After that I focused on my a beginner playthrough where I could get speed run, no continues and unchanging armour. I finished that in just over 9 hours (though I had to do the final battle twice because my starter Keyblade was a nightmare on ansem and I needed those continues ?). I left the most daunting trophy for last: my proud playthrough. Honestly I never play games on hard so I was a bit nervous. This wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I expected though! I am proud to have a game I’ve enjoyed since childhood be my 50th plat! Honestly though if you’re planning on going for it I’d maybe be smarter about synthesis than I was and grind as you go ? Popular Post Lance_87
#30: Just Cause 4 (2018) - Rico was Here My 30th Platinum! And the second one for a JC game, after i completed JC3 more than a year ago. I played the Complete Edition so i had to wait until the completion of all three DLCs in order to get the final Supply Drop-related trophy. Not really difficult, certain parts were a little frustrating but nothing impossible. Having the Skystriker Weaponized Wingsuit helped a lot, even it if telt a little like cheating in some parts (i.e. the entirety of Los Demonios lol).
Popular Post Sardavanua
#168 - Cosmic Star Heroine I started playing this game over 2 years ago and it didn't catch me back then. Yesterday I downloaded it again to my PS4 and gave it another chance. To my suprise I actually enjoyed this game for the first three or four hours. The art style is neat and I really liked the references to some old games, but holy heck the combat system is soooooo boring. It's simple brain dead buff-your-team-the-first-two-rounds-and-one-shot-them-after combat. Dialogue and story were fine too, but sadly they got interupted like every sixty seconds with the same fights over and over. Also I got some weird FF VII vibes while playing this game even though it reminded me way more on Chrono Trigger. All in all not a bad game, but it got hilariously repetetive at the end. Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 4/10 Time spent: 9 hours and 17 minutes
