What annoys you most in gaming?

Online and DLC's, or in the case of Red Dead Redemption...an online DLC

Generally I don't like playing online. I'd much rather have just the single player experience. Gaming's always been time that I spend relaxing and enjoying myself alone, maybe because I grew up when online gaming didn't exist I'm used to the lone ranger thing.

As for DLC's, usually by the time I've played through an entire game I'm ready to move on. I haven't found many DLC's that I think I'd enjoy and I'm always unsure if it's worth the money. For example I had a look at the Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim. it's on PSN for £15, but shortly beforehand I'd bought Sleeping Dogs with the DLC's included for £11 so suddenly £15 for a single DLC, on top of the price I paid for Skyrim seems like a bad deal. Or maybe I'm just being entitled :P

Yes, this is rather annoying and kind of sad that it still happens. But I take solace in knowing that this usually comes from someone that's mentally (and perpetually) 12 years old with a lack of self-esteem, so therefore feels the need to demean females online behind the safety of his TV or computer screen in an attempt to elevate himself -- aka basement dwellers.

The funniest thing that happened to me was in the last of us online where there was a guy from france in which he sent me messages saying "I don't allow a woman to play better than me"

To which i replied: "you don't know me i'm a trophy hunter not a multiplayer player, but over time you get used to it..i may not be the best player in the world but i have something that you don't have: brains.
And when i lose, i try to understand "why" and give back to the situation while you are a limited player to a weapon and perk, And in addition you make excuses for defeats"

Edit : Always works these answers :D

My pet peeves;

- Annoying randoms who run ahead.

- Annoying randoms who spam for healing (overwatch) when they are missing little to no health

- People who rage quit at the start, middle, or ending of any game (disconnects are different if they are true.. we all can have internet issues at unknown times.. it's pretty obvious at times when it's a simple rage quit though)

- Developers not making more online coop campaign games (I know this one is weird since I've ranted about other people), but I typically play with a invite friend in a private game on these kind of games and we have a blast and it makes the gaming experience so much fun.

- When What's New never loads or is behind.. I'm not sure why this bothers me but it's probably my OCD.

Not a major annoyance but every time I get killed by an enemy in Skyrim they immediately say "they must have ran off" as if my character suddenly disappeared in front of their eyes instead of dying lol. I'm surprised they never made some kind of patch for that for the remastered edition.

Online, I don't think I go online enough to say too much... I'll keep this post to gameplay. I get very annoyed by anything that involves just dying constantly. I also absolutely hate it when I die without knowing why I'm dying... it also means I'll die more, which means I'll get even more pissed off. For these reasons I have not attempted and probably will never attempt Cloudberry Kingdom... I know I'd be raging too much, does not look enjoyable. Sound Shapes death mode is also an example of gameplay that makes me rage most, although obviously on a lower difficulty than CK... I did manage to get through all levels, but a few levels I hated... there was a bit of rage at some points I think, though overall I managed without too much problems... I also don't like anything that requires as much luck as skill.

Maybe not having enough time. There are loads of games I want to play but I try to keep a habit of finishing a game before moving on to the next one as it can be difficult to get back to. Also some of the things mentioned by others. I don't like single player focused games having multiplayer added on and then having the multiplayer be the focus, like GTA 5 for example. The gaming community is pretty awful too. Full of people moaning and complaining. Go on a call of duty video and everyone says it's shit. Go on an assassin's creed video and everyone's arguing. Ridiculous. Ps plus too. I mean £40 a year for 60 games and other benefits and people are getting all upset. Also people complaining about the length of games. I would much rather play a short, sweet and focused game getting to the point and be left wanting more than a long, boring game full of filler and left wanting less. Cheaters and team killers are annoying too. Games being released broken. Publishers treating developers like shit - that's a big one. etc etc.

This is going to sound weird but what bugs me the most is my character not getting out of the way of shit.

I mean wouldn't it be neat if you were walking and instead of walking right into a rock or a box your character had the AI programming to simply walk around or over it like you would in real life. It just breaks the immersion when you are in a race sequence or something and you hit the corner of a door frame and your character keeps running in place instead of just turning his shoulder slightly so he can continue running.

  • Petty micro-transactions that have no value to the game.
  • Trophies that are glitched or MP related that is absolute annoying.
  • People chomping away on their mic. Instant mute!
  • Add music blaring too^^
  • Getting T-bagged in FPS games. I can taste there nuts now

- Missable collectibles

- Unskippable cutscenes - especially annoying when you have to play the same level over and over. The longer they are the worse.

- Most escort missions, especially when the character decides to wander off by themselves just to get themselves killed

- Multiplayer trophies, both local (gotta find someone to play with...) and online.

- Long, long levels without any checkpoints or way of saving between them, especially if you restart from the start when dying. (The main flaw of De Blob which is otherwise a fun game)

- Luck-based trophies, especially when combined with grinding (like having to grind points to buy a bunch of an item that you need random-appearance events from)

LOL! My wife was talking about this when I was playing Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. I kept getting stuck on the environment (things like pieces of grass or small stumps), and she just said, "If your character is a spirit, how is it so inept in travelling over basic physical obstacles?"

Anyway, my biggest pet peeve in gaming is the mistaking of a lack of talent for genius. There are so many shitty, SHITTY games upon which people will confer some sense of absolute greatness, for one lame reason or another. I have tons of examples of this, but inevitably, calling up one with necessarily bring one of its supporting devils around, and that's the last thing I want.

There is a difference between a good game and a bad game that you like. I like Magus. I have no reservations in calling it a poor game. I like Orc Slayer. Poor game.

As for single player/campaign/story mode or whatever you wanna call it there aren't specific things that annoy me. I may swear a little bit if the game gets too hard but that's all.

If we talk about multiplayer it's 3 things then: hackers, hackers and hackers. I don't really mind boosters as long as they don't use mods but I can't stand cheaters. I don't get where the fun is in using tools to make you invincible. Isn't the point of multiplayer having a good time and possibly getting a good score by improving at the game?

I think everyone here knows my by now, but I am not a fan of online trophies at all and would rather not go for them.  If they're for a platinum, then I'll leave the platinum be and get them whenever (like Dying Light, I have online to do for the platinum, but I don't really feel like going for those trophies).

Also, misable collectibles are a pain to deal with.  I like to find stuff in games, but advancing the plot and not being able to go back to collect stuff is not fun.
